The area in which they were going to be fighting was fairly open, with a little incidental cover here and there. It was just as well that this was a particularly tumbledown section of the abandoned town, because Jordan suspected that between Vanna and Ferros, they might be causing a little collateral damage. Or a lot. He summoned Ferros and dropped into an easy fighting stance, grinning at Before. "Hey. Been a while, man." HP: 60/60 Dmg: what

Before didn't really know what he was thinking, signing up for a battle. It wasn't as if he had a competitive streak (outside of the kitchen) or particularly liked battling (against anyone who wasn't Ofie). But Bix was running the show, and that alone was reason enough for the Misty to join.
Finding his opponent was Jordan certainly helped matters. Before respected the guy, and if he was going to lose to anyone, he totally didn't mind losing to them. "Yeah, totes been a while," he grinned, summoning his own partner with a smile. "Oh! Oh! Look what Vanna can do now!" He beamed as he pressed one of the runes on the wheel.
One of the twelve spikes shot past Jordan, embedding itself into a wall with a thunk. Another press of the rune and while Before's intention was to reel the spike back, it was lodged too firmly and instead yanked the Mist forward bodily.
Right towards Jordan. "Oh shi- wait noooo!!!" DDDDDDD8

"I see she got bigger too," Jordan commented dryly. He jumped as the spike shot past him - he was going to have to watch out for that - and said, "That's a pretty neat oof," as Before barreled into him.
He let the momentum of the bodycheck knock him back a few steps, then stepped to the side and brought Ferros around hard, grinning. "Neat trick," he finished.

The impact against Jordan helped Before dig his heels into the ground. Maybe this time the spike would come to him? Nope! Without missing a beat, Jordan and Ferros saw to it that Before was going to continue his journey towards the spike. And the wall that came with it.
There was a loud crunch as Before himself was practically embedded against the worn, half-crumbling building. "I phtill need phum practiph," he muttered against the plaster. Oh s**t, wait, they were in the middle of a tournament! This realization had him scrambling to face his opponent and sharply yanking at the spike.
Before managed to pull it free, which should have been the end of that. Except the cracks in the wall began to spread out, compromising an already rickety structure, until it crumbled on top of both Hunters.
"Oh you're ******** kidding me..." 8I Thankfully, Vanna's unique shape and large size made for a pretty decent shield.
HP: 45/60

Jordan wasn't expecting the wall to come down on them, and a large piece of masonry flattened him against the ground, knocking the wind out of him for a few stunned seconds. He braced himself with Ferros's help, got his shoulder against it, and heaved it off; then he scrambled free of the debris, scanning the pile for Before. Where was the other man? Was he hurt or trapped? They both had Fear shields, but this was a little worrying. "Before?" he yelled. HP: 35/60 Dmg: lol

Before was trapped under Vanna, while Vanna was trapped under a good pile of rubble. Apart from small pebbles and cement flakes slipping through the gaps of the wheel, Before was relatively unhurt from the collapse. He managed to hear Jordan call out to him, faint as it was, and Before tried his best to yell out his status. "I AM TOTES OKAY! DUSTY! BUT OKAY!"
A beat, then a warning of "STAND BACK! IMMA TRY SOMETHING!!"
Ten seconds later, there was a shower of debris as half a dozen spikes burst out of the pile. Unfortunately, the angle of the spike's descent sent them falling towards Jordan.
HP: 45/60
Damage: 15Prolixity Before will bake Jordan whatever he wants when it's possible no matter who wins as an apology for this fight's going.

SPECTATOR
Candace was kind of annoyed she had missed several matches she wanted to watch, namely Molly, Harrison, and Gale's. Two of them had been one match. On the one hand it was impressive they were knocking out these fights so quickly, on the other she had wanted to see them. Sigh. She'd just catch their next matches. Damnit.
But here was a match she was not going to miss. Before and Jordan, one of them was her next opponent. Candace was going to do the smart thing and watch; she knew how Jordan worked, but Before was actually somewhat of a mystery to her. Like Candace, Before's weapon was...unique.
She arrived just as Before announced he was trying something and stopped so she wouldn't accidentally be hit by whatever the hell Before was attempting to do.
Please don't kill someone...
"Holy s**t," Candace whispered quietly to herself when a pile of debris suddenly exploded. Impressive, Before! Impressive! And here she had thought he would be an easy knockout.

As Jordan took a step back, spikes exploded out of the pile of masonry, throwing debris into the air; reflexively, he swatted one piece with Ferros, sending a spray of crumbling pieces back towards the pile, but a second piece flattened him again while he was still twisting into the swing. He picked himself back up after a moment, groaning with mild embarrassment. Mental note: environmental hazards were absolutely not to be ignored when fighting another heavy-weapons user. HP: 20/60 Dmg: 7

Before would like to think that he'd improved since the time he woke in a gas mask that exploded if he tried to remove it. And maybe he had, somewhat. Once he'd dug himself free from the rubble, Before had the presence of mind to utilize Vanna's unconventional form to act as a shield from the incoming debris Jordan redirected his way. Of course this was after the fact he got beaned a few times.

The Mist Hunter waited out the barrage then gingerly marched towards Jordan, an arm outstretched for the Sun Hunter to grasp, "Yeesh, sorry about the way things are turning out. Mebbe I shoulda stuck to swinging Vanna around." Unfortunately, the small pile of rubble he'd perched on ended up giving way and had him falling on top of Jordan. Before himself wasn't particularly heavy but Vanna was, at least when he wasn't holding her.

"Either way, she's pretty effective at destruction," Jordan remarked, and held out a hand to help Before down. He really should have foreseen that this was an effort not without its hazards, particularly considering that he was personally familiar with the extra weight of oversized weapons. Before got jabbed with an elbow as they tried to right themselves.
"You're doing a pretty good job of beating me up without even beating me up," Jordan laughed when they got themselves untangled again.

Before squeaked at the jab, rubbing the spot once they both got to their feet. He thought he deserved a smack upside the head, he was probably ruining the tournament with his terribad performance. "Which would be awesome if that was what I was going for." He sighed.
"I promise, when we get power back, and I restock mine and Dinah's pantry, imma bake you whatever you want! Cake, brownies, pie, cookies, you name it!" Before declared with a thumb's up, his other hand driving Vanna into the ground for dramatic effect. Unfortunately said ground was little too close to Jordan's foot.

"Well, if I fall over, you'll get the win anyway," Jordan said cheerfully. "Ow, damn, she's heavy! Uh, that wasn't meant to imply anything derogatory," he added in Vanna's general direction as Ferros reminded him that some weapons didn't exactly appreciate it if you implied they were fat. "Brownies would be great," he said to Before. Baked goods would assuage his slightly bruised pride. He spotted a figure off to the side and turned a little to see who it was. Unfortunately, as he moved, Ferros tapped against what was left of the wall behind Jordan and Before, and a large piece tottered and finally broke loose. HP: 5/60 Dmg: 9

He was quick to lift Vanna back up, hefting her behind him to avoid any further unintended injuries. Not that their FEAR shields or the new-fangled dampeners they were testing would let them sustain any terrible injuries but it was better to be sure.
He did hear the grating of metal as Vanna frowned irritably in the back of his mind. She wasn't too upset since Jordan assured them he meant no offense by it.
"Brownies it is then!" Before cheerfully declared. Angling his head towards the direction Jordan turned, he didn't notice the piece of wall until it made itself well acquainted with his head and drew out a yelp from him.
The downward motion pulled not only Before but Vanna down, those spikes of hers grazing against Jordan's FEAR shield.

Jordan yelped and jumped back, but the spikes had already done their damage. As Before got up, Jordan sighed, mentally turning to Ferros for confirmation of what he sensed. The weapon agreed, grumbling. "We're done," Jordan told Before. "The walls did us in; we can't take any hits or we're down." He extended a hand for a friendly handshake. "Rematch sometime?" HP: 1/60
