Prentice Solo #1: "Watching The Baby"

It was early morning in Sauti and just about everyone in Natsu's group hadn't started to rise and prepare for the daily routine. The night before's rest had been wonderful for Natsu, which was a rare occasion, given that there was usually a disturbance of some sort happening somewhere within the circle. It just so happened that Mycah had slept in the longest that morning and left Natsu with the morning the first task of the day, waking everyone else up. Naturally, Natsu went about this in his favorite, most entertaining manner.

"Okay, Oggie! Go get 'em!" Natsu exclaimed, gently pushing his freshly woken nephew towards the rest of his family. "Wake 'em up! Go on!"

Ogbonna gave his uncle a strange look, something that wasn't fairly common, and wandered around him and towards the center of the camp. Whatever his uncle wanted him to do wasn't registering as 'fun' within his mind this morning, and he wasn't about to do something that might not be fun. He padded around aimlessly for a little bit before deciding to run around in circles, giggling at something only a child could imagine.

To this, Natsu sighed and pouted. What the heck? Ogbonna loved to cause chaos in the morning! What could be more fun than that? He huffed and wandered over to where his nephew was busy running and found himself laughing. "What are you doing, you silly goober?" He chuckled.

"Wind chase! Chase!" Ogbonna replied, pausing to grin at Natsu. He continued to run in circles until Natsu scooped him up and began tickling him. "Haaaahaha! Uncle! Haaa!" He giggled, wriggling around in Natsu's arms. "Down! Down now!"

"Okay, okay!" Natsu laughed, setting Ogbonna down again. However, as soon as he did, he watched his nephew take off running towards the mountains and shrieked. "OGBONNA! NO! GET BACK HERE!" Natsu took off running as fast as his legs could carry him, his nephew just barely out of his grasp.

They ran for what seemed like miles and found themselves somewhere in Tale. Luckily for Natsu, Ogbonna was entranced by the spiraling trees and was able to place his hand on his head. "Augh, Oggie..." He puffed, out of breath from running. "Seriously, we need to get home, your dad's gonna kill me!" He turned to look down at his nephew, only to find that his hand was no longer on his head, and that he had managed to climb half-way up a tree! "OGBONNA! GET DOWN HERE!" He screamed, latching himself onto the tree. "YOU ARE DEAD! SO SO SO DEAD!"

Climbing was harder than running had been, not that it was much of a surprise to Natsu. He reached the top of the tree and came face to face with the sly, puffed cheeks of his nephew. Natsu had to bite his tongue to keep from growling and grabbing him by his hair. "AWESOME. You ran twenty miles and climbed a GIANT tree!" Natsu seethed, trying his best to smile. "Wow, I'm impressed! Can we go home now...?"

"No, no, no!" Ogbonna barked, growling at Natsu. "Want travel more! Go to beach with uncle! Please go, please go? PLEEEEAAAASSEEEE?"

Natsu paused, a dumbfounded look on his face. So, the kid just wanted to explore and go to the beach? Well, s**t, he could have just asked! No need to run off like some lunatic! He shook his head and chuckled, fluffing Ogbonna's hair. "Okay, we can go to the beach together." He replied. "But, promise me that you won't run off like that again. You could get hurt out here. It's not safe for someone as little as you are to be wandering out here alone."

"OGGIE IS NOT LITTLE!" Ogbonna screamed, stamping his foot. "OGGIE BIG AS UNCLE NATSU! BIG AS UNCLE!" He stamped his foot several more times before his foot found an opening in the leaves and he fell through. "BIG AS UNC- AAAAEEEEEEE!"

"OGBONNAAAA!" Natsu cried, leaping from the tree. He landed on the ground and bolted under his nephew as fast as he could, catching him in the nick of time. He heaved a heavy sigh of relief as he held the more than stunned child in his arms. It was a few minutes later before Natsu could break the silence. "You still want to go to the beach...?" He asked.

"Yes, please, uncle." Ogbonna said, his voice made rigid from the fall.

-----

Natsu carried Ogbonna for miles across the desert and paused as they neared the forest of Jauhar. He had been through there many times when he wanted to go to the beach on the other end, but had never gone there with anyone else. Blue eyes darted down to the wide green ones that lay sparkling in his arms and narrowed slightly. "This forest is VERY DANGEROUS." He said. "You are to STAY IN MY ARMS. Is that understood?"

"Oggie fall out of tree again?" Ogbonna questioned, his lip quivering.

"Yes, yes, Oggie fall out of tree again if he doesn't listen to his uncle Natsu." Natsu replied, nodding firmly. If falling out of a tree was enough to spook his nephew from leaving his side, then it was a good enough excuse. He clutched the teary eyed boy to his chest and entered the forest, a wave of heat instantly covering them both. "Forgot how hot it was in here..." Natsu mumbled, peering around at their surroundings. "Don't worry, though, we just go straight and we'll be there in no time."

The walk was surely long and took quite a few hours, but they finally made it to the beach just before afternoon. As soon at Ogbonna saw the sparkling waters before him, he leaped out of Natsu's arms and bounded right in. "I swim, I swim!" He giggled, waving to Natsu. "Uncle see Oggie swim?!"

"You bet I see you out there, little guy!" Natsu chuckled. He was glad that Oggie seemed happy to be all the way out here with him. Maybe the kid wasn't as annoying as he always thought he was. Sure, he did run off today and nearly get himself killed, but at least he was having fun now. After a moment or so of sitting and watch his nephew swim, he too bounded into the cool refreshing waters for a well deserved dip. "I bet you that I can swim faster than you!" He challenged.

"No way!" Oggie squealed, swimming laps around Natsu. He giggled as Natsu swam after him and splashed water towards him whenever he could. However, neither of them saw the group of people standing on the sand, until one of them bounded in with them.

"Whaaahooooo!" Cried Natsu's grandfather, Fakih, as he landed in the water. He pounced on Natsu's back and began to laugh hysterically. "CAN'T CATCH ME!"

"POP-POP?!" Natsu screamed, leaping forwards and diving underwater. He swam like a bullet until he was behind Ogbonna and sprang out of the water, only to be dunked under again by a firm hand. As soon as he was able, he leaped back out of the water and came face to face with Mycah, his older brother. "AH! Mycah! I-I-W-WE, UH UUUUHH..." Natsu pouted and looked down. "I'm in deep s**t, aren't I?"

Mycah paused, blinked a few times, and began to cackle. He fuzzed Natsu's hair and patted his back, before simply shoving him in the water again.
"Why would you be in trouble?" He laughed. "You're playing with your nephew! And I thought you two would never get along!"

"I...I... Whaaa...?" Natsu stammered, glancing over to Ogbonna, who was busy splashing Fakih, and gazed up to his older brother again. "But, Mycah... We're all the way on the other side of the world! Aren't you angry with me for not asking you first?!"

Mycah shook his head and wrapped an arm around Natsu. "You couldn't, he ran off like a bat out of hell, remember?" He said, smiling. "As soon as I heard you scream, I woke everyone else up and followed you." He gave Natsu a squeeze. "I saw you save his life back in Tale, but didn't say anything. You've made me proud, little bro."

Natsu's eyes went wide, his brother had been there the whole time?! Whaaaaaaat?! He had saw the whole thing! From running, to climbing, to catching, to swimming, to... AUGH! Why didn't he bother to help him?! Natsu tried his best to suppress a pout as his brother turned around to play with his son. Well, at least he didn't get in trouble...

-----

Three days later, the very same scenario seemed to be playing out. Natsu was the first one awake and Ogbonna was running around in circles. He gave the child a grin and patted his head. "We can go to the beach later today, okay?" He said. "Just need to get everything else done before we can go." He turned his head for a moment to peer in at his sleeping family members. "For now..." He turned back. "Do you want to play a ga-..." And Ogbonna had taken off running again. But this time, directly towards Zena.

"OGBONNAAAAA!" Natsu screamed, taking off after him. This was going to be one hell of a day.

Prentice Solo #2: "Viveka"

They say that love is a fickle thing and that it can easily lead you astray. It can cut you like a knife and leave you high and dry, only to rise to your feet and beg for more to come your way. There are some that even dare to say that love is useless and unnecessary, and that it can only lead those who dare cross it's path to a certain untimely death or perpetual down fall into a sweltering abyss of loneliness and despair. But to those like Natsu, who live to love and love to love for love itself, those who dismiss it's charm and whimsy are missing out on a chance to feel a whole new level of bliss and comfort that the care of a family just cannot provide. The thrill and allure of a new found romance, the scent of a lover's hair, and the gentle kisses that can be exchanged are things that Natsu finds invaluable and irreplaceable. How could someone not want to follow this path of happiness and freedom? What harm could it possibly hold within it's temptation and fruitful rewards?

Many believe him to be a hearty fool for wandering away to Zena every chance he can, but most are lulled into a white lie planted by the very one they accuse of being a fool. Excuses are made, untruths are written, and tasks are put aside, all for the chance to see one face, feel the beat of one special heart, and call out the name of the one person who holds his heart captive in their grasp. "Viveka, Viveka!" Is the name to be called upon the soft, frigid snow of Zena. A vision of perfection and grace, a god among humans, Natsu does attest. Long, dark hair, bright, glowing eyes, skin as soft as the down of a baby bird, Viveka, Viveka. His sweet Viveka. He holds the key to the door that opens his heart, and for as long as they can both keep tight lipped, only they know of this fact.

It was a love that blossomed in the later years of their childhoods. Mycah had grown close with an elder of the Ice Tribe who had shown an interest in his skills with spears. This elder had a grandson with snowy-blue skin and long, dark hair, that tumbled along the floor as he wandered to and fro, carrying chisels and ice from outside. An aspiring artisan, from the very start, young Viveka was, and as he held to his brother's hand that very morning, Natsu felt his heart begin to quiver. What was this feeling, so sudden, so powerful, that he felt climbing up his skin? It wasn't like any other chill he had felt before. It made him feel giddy, his cheeks began to warm, and it was all so very sudden. Natsu offered to assist Viveka with his first attempt at carving a flower out of a block of ice. Viveka, a shy, but friendly child, accepted the then 'strange boy's' offer, and the pair began to cut and modify block after block of ice until they made something worth showing off to Mycah and his Ice Tribe teacher. It was a roughly cut, and slightly cracked, lotus shaped flower, but they had worked hard on each detail together. By the end of the day, both boys found themselves begging the other's caretaker to let the other stay, and ultimately had to hug and say goodbye. That hug goodbye was the beginning of a steady friendship that would grow to accommodate the seeds of romance and love.

Many years have passed since that fateful day in Zena, and the bond between the pair has only grown stronger. Trips to visit have become secret sleep aways and excuses have made themselves more elaborate and thorough, to the point where if either is gone more than three days, a whole entire journey must be concocted in a matter of seconds. For Natsu, this is a situation that he wishes he could expose and have open to all who see him, Viveka is his and the world should make note and pay heed to how gorgeous and perfect his lover is. However, the bitterness of love can come from the most unfathomable things, and neither man wishes to bear the thought of separating sooner than "death do they part." Viveka has been betrothed, by his father, to a young woman by the name of "Ejie", from his childhood. Natsu has been told time and time again that Viveka's father is not the most agreeable man, and negotiating this would be near impossible, and could cost them their relationship. A sour note in paradise wedges a timer between what otherwise could have been a long, and fruitful relationship.

What is there to do when two hearts are fused together for so long, only to be sentenced to a quick and shattering snap by the laws of marriage and society? Will they have to nod along and say their goodbyes, or will they run far from home and make a life where no one will try to sever their commitment to one another? Decisions will have to be deliberated, minds will have to be made up with caution, leaving home for good would take both stamina and a mountain of hope to accomplish. But, in hind sight, what if one of them finds another to love? Or what if Ejie permits Natsu and Viveka to continue along their way, with or without marrying Viveka in the process? So many options, so many endings, so many ways to end up with a broken heart. Which ever path they decide to take will either alter their families or destroy their relationship from the inside out. What will they do? What is there to do? Are they to sit and wait until it is decided for them?

They say that love is a fickle thing and that it can easily lead you astray... It can cut you like a knife and leave you high and dry, only to rise to your feet and beg for more to come your way...

Maybe what they say about love is spot on after all...

Class Affinity Solo: "Serenade"

Natsu woke in the middle of the night to find that his mind was filled with ideas that could not be shaken. He tried going for a walk, he tried eating a midnight snack, he even tried to smack his head with a rock to knock himself out, all to no avail. The light from the moon above seemed to radiate with a power beyond that of anything he had ever experienced, something odd was going on. He felt it within his bones, he felt it within his heart, he needed to write, he needed to let this out!

But how? With what would he express such a profound amount of feeling? He paced for a while, scratching at his chin and mumbling a word or two of nonsense, before squeaking in delight. There was charcoal, he could write with the charcoal from the fire pit! Eyes gleamed with a hunger, a hunger unmatched by that of any animal that roamed the land from Chibale to Zena, as they scavenged the fire pit for a spare clump of charcoal. At last, after minutes of digging and burrowing and dirtying his hands, Natsu threw his fist into the air, his writing utensil grasped in his hand.

Now, what was there to write upon? Surely there was a spare scroll, a tapestry, perhaps a cluster of flat stones? He would have to canvas the camp from top to bottom for a vessel of which to hold his masterpiece. High and low, to and fro, Natsu went, his mind near overflowing. Then, when all hope seemed lost, a scroll came into his sight! It was a little tattered, possibly burned, but none the matter, it would do just fine! Captivated and overjoyed, Natsu sat cross-legged, and quickly went about his writing spree.

It was dark when I felt the first notes begin to spin, circling, twirling, whirling round and round again. A beckoning call, from one to all, come sing and play with me. How fanciful and hushed, a warming sort of rush, to wake and run off to. Natsu, Natsu, come play, come sing, come willow away the hours of each and every day. I sit still, alone with boning chills, until you come to rest your mind and unwind, if only for an hour or more. I am your muse, I am your friend, and to you, my powers, I do surrend.

Full of laughter, a treat surely you are, the one who holds my power within his ever gentle grasp. Use me wisely, use me well, for it is your story I am to tell. What is it that makes you laugh? What is it that makes you cry? How will each and every move you make choose which path you take? Take the path closest to the heart, take it and then your life will start. A mind filled with whimsy, needs to keep busy! Don't let your ideas drift away! You digress, and I can guess, you have anxiety. Oh, don't you fear, my Natsu dear, in time you will know never to listen to the doubt that you hear. Just follow your heart, and all mysteries will drift apart. Allow yourself the luxury, to take your time, and confide in me. I will guide your way.

How to begin is a common question, one you know all too well. Your mind says left, your gut the right, leaving your chest up tight. Decisions are hard, certainly no fun, but you'll never get anywhere if you run. You are a lover, not a fighter, you bear not a smidgen of aggressive desire, but what will there be for you to do? If you cannot fight, how are you any use? To you, you are not, but to me, there are plenty of other slots. Certainly, an artisan, it tickles your fancy. But can you make pots without holes and dots? Can you bend metal to make proper swords? Surely you can fashion a spear, oh, well if not, never fear! I hold the key to what will make use of you!

You love a good song, this I know, your heart and soul have told me so. Melodies of all sorts flow through you freely and when asked to repeat, you do so rather clearly! How fit, yes you, yes you, to provide the entertainment! But, ho, why sorrow so? Just try it and, yes, you will know! The voice you have is a gift unmatched, your talent is something unseen! Dive in, go for a spin! Come on, pick up your chin! Natsu, my Natsu, let the music make you! Let it paint your face and color your hair! Let it whirl in the wind and lull the children to sleep! Let all those that know you feel your warmth, let them know, truly, deeply, fullheartedly, who you are!

From body to paper, his heart spilled forth words unsung, words to be sung, and what beautiful words they were. Natsu paused his writing to read and internalize what his subconscious had been trying to tell him all along. Sing, you are to sing! Yes, he had heard his own dreams burst through the barrier of his fears! No more would he deny himself everything he had been born to do, he would sing! Sing for himself, sing for the world, and to every little baby born into the arms of every mother to come! He would sing! Sing for his brother, sing for his friends, and to his ever beautiful Viveka, he would write a sonnet of true love that no one could resist! Yes, yes! He would SING!

He leaped from his seat on the ground and hopped towards a ledge that, when stood upon, allowed him to see the mountains of Zena, and cleared his throat. His song would be sung, and it would be done this morning, even if Viveka could not hear him. Everyone else was asleep, no one would know who he would be singing to, if he could just be discreet. But what would he sing? How would it go? A gentle sigh escaped from his lips as he thought, would he be able to do this? ... Blue eyes gazed towards the moon again, and closed.

"Through the darkness, I can see your light..." He sang, his hand over his heart. "And you will always shine, and I can feel your heart in mine...Your face I've memorized... I idolize just you..." He paused, taking a deep breath "I look up to... Everything you are..." Again, he paused, his eyes flying open as his emotions flowed out. "In my eyes you do no wrong! I've loved you for so long, and after all is said and done...You're still you..." He looked out towards the mountains, tears in his eyes. "After all...You're still you..."

"You walk past me
I can feel your pain...
Time changes everything,
One truth always stays the same,
You're still you...
After all...
You're still you..."

"I look up to...
Everything you are!
In my eyes you do no wrong!
And I believe in you,
Although you never asked me to,
I will remember you,
And what life put you through!"

"And in this cruel and lonely world,
I found one love!
You're still you,
After all...
You're... Still... You..."

After he had finished singing, Natsu found himself wiping his eyes, tears rolling down them like waterfalls. He sniffled, hiccuped, and turned to wander back into his camp. However, as he walked back, a voice called out to him.

"Beautiful, simply beautiful!" It praised. "Bravo, Natsu! Bravo!"

The voice caused Natsu's heart to flutter and his face to flush. Did he just imagine that? It couldn't have been him! He wouldn't travel out this late, would he? He shook his head, smiled towards Zena, and headed back to bed. If it had been Viveka, it would have made him glad to know that his message had been received. However, if it had been nothing more than his imagination, the mental praise was good enough. His dreams had been expelled from his mind and made realities, which he would have to strive for.

How to begin? That was no longer a question, but a challenge. A challenge that Natsu couldn't wait to sing his heart out to.

Rouge RP #1: "Bothering Rastian"

It was a particularly warm day in Mez and Natsu had decided that a trip to the beach was more than in order. He packed his favorite, patched up satchel and towel with all the things he would need. Fruit for snacks, twine for crafting, an extra pair of pants, and a beach ball he had made out of cloth and sand. Though it wasn't the most bouncy thing to grace Sauti's beaches, it was just as fun to toss about.

He made his way behind the tents and trotted along his favored path, the one with the most scenic of views, but the lengthiest of walks. A day away spent swimming and lounging would require a long walk in order to make up for the vacation at the end.

A little ways down the path that Natsu was traveling stood his adoptive brother, Rastian, clad in his usual long sleeved get up with about a billion satchels dangling from his arms. His posture spoke volumes about how he was feeling, slouched, sweaty, and heaving breath after heavy breath. It was his own fault that he had forgotten his water skin today while he was gathering his deliveries for the day, and he was cursing himself for it with every breath he took. He grunted, shuffled forward a bit, and dropped five of the satchels to the ground.

"Damn it!" He growled, lumbering forward to scoop them up again.

Upon hearing hearing Rastian's growl, Natsu shook his head. He knew who that was, it was his beloved adoptive brother, no doubt upset about his lack of time to relax. It was Rastian's own fault that he never left himself time to rest! Knowing that whatever was upsetting the other boy was probably minor, Natsu took his time wandering down the path.

Sure enough, as he approached Rastian, he saw that it was nothing to be concerned about. He rolled his eyes, padded over to the blue haired male's side, and leaned over to tap his shoulder.

"What have I told you about carrying more than your weight in useless s**t, brother?" He scolded with a smirk.

"OHWHATDOYOUKNOW!?" Rastian barked, giving Natsu a very unhappy glare. What the hell was he doing here, anyway? Wasn't he supposed to be working or something? UGH, of COURSE NOT. Natsu NEVER WORKED, he was the laziest sod around! All of NATSU'S WORK always fell right back down to HIM! And did he ever get a thank you for it?!

Yes, yes he did. Well, GOOD FOR HIM!

He scrambled to gather the rest of his things and tied all the satchels he had dropped tighter around his arms before gazing up towards Natsu again.
"It's been wonderful, brother, but I have to be going now!" He exclaimed, before shoving Natsu to the side.

Now Natsu was typically a nice guy, one that didn't mind a little rough housing if it was needed. But to be shoved aside by his younger brother was something that he just couldn't allow to go unpunished. He glowered and snatched Rastian by the arm before tugging him straight to the ground. From there he glared down at him and nudged him with his foot.

"Be wary of who you SHOVE, boy." He growled.

The sound that Rastian made as he was dragged to the ground by his elder brother was something straight out of a horror story. He lay still as his back was nudged but sprung forward as soon as Natsu finished speaking. He was tired, thirsty, and willing to tear something limb from limb. If that thing happened to be Natsu, then so be it!

Natsu had expected retaliation, there was nothing out of the ordinary here. Rastian was overtired, down right pissed, and need to let off some steam. He knew Rastian would be sorry later if he landed a good punch of two. Still, Natsu placed his hands where Rastian attempted to strike him, which was commonly the chest, side, or upper thigh, blocking each and every blow that Rastian tried to land upon him.

"Calm down, Razzie! You're being ridiculous!" He cried, dodging a would-be blow to the head.

"NO, YOU ARE!" Rastian screamed, throwing each punch with all his might. He was too angry, too wired, he wasn't going to stop until he landed a decent punch and that was ******** final! He swung, kicked, and thrashed until, finally, he decided to take a new tactic. He let his hands go to his sides and pretended to be calm, so Natsu would let his guard down.

"Alright, you win." He said.

But Natsu was no idiot, he knew what his brother was trying to do, and he wasn't going to buy it. He kept his protective stance, but shuffled closer to Rastian in order to get a good hold on him.

"I know you're not finished, I'm not stupid." He grumbled, latching onto Rastian's arms and pulling them behind his back. "NOW TELL ME WHY YOU'RE MAD LIKE A DAMN ADULT, RASTIAN!"

Rastian growled and struggled against Natsu's grip. Damn it, damn it, daaaaamn it! How the ******** did his brother get so strong?! He used to be able to flip him over with just one hand! Now he can't even break free from his grip! AAAAUUUGH! From a distance he knew he must've looked pretty pathetic, flopping around like a fish snagged in a net. He heaved a sigh and wriggled just enough so he could look at Natsu.

"I'm pissed off because you keep BOTHERING ME, YOU DUMB s**t!" He screamed.

Natsu sighed and tightened his grip on Rastian's wrists. When his brother got this way, it was physically impossible to get anything out of him without a fair amount of swears flying out of his mouth. He was such a calm person when he wasn't tired, it was a shame that a foul mouthed person lingered under such a good exterior.

"Tell me CALMLY, Rastian." He replied, pulling Rastian closer to him.

CALMLY? Natsu wanted him to say it again, CALMLY?! ******** no, he had already said why he was angry, he wasn't about to ******** say it again! He wrestled with the ever tightening grip held upon his wrists until he felt the joints in his arms make a popping sound. s**t! If he was going to keep struggling, Natsu might just break his arms! Well, theoretically, it would be Rastian's fault for continuing to struggle if he knew it would break his arms, BUT THE ORIGINAL REASONING STILL STOOD. He growled, relaxed his arms, and sighed.

"Fiiiiinnneee..." He whined, gazing to Natsu again. "I'm angry because you're bothering me while I'm trying to go home and relax. I would appreciate it GREATLY if you would let me go now so I can continue on my way, please!"

Natsu smirked and let go of one of Rastian's arms. Ha! That tactic always worked! He pondered, for a brief second, if it would have worked on Ogbonna but decided that it would have been viewed as cruel by his father. Well, to each their own punishment, he guessed. Then, he looked to Rastian again.

"Thank you for being calm with me, Razzie." He said, gently tugging him down the path. "Now, if it's relaxation you need, the beach is perfect! Just come with me!"

AUGH! Just when he thought he was free from his brother's grasp, he was being dragged away from his original goal again! Why was Natsu always such an a*****e?! He growled and flailed against Natsu's grip.

"Let me go, you a**!" He bellowed, tugging as furiously as he could.

Natsu froze and groaned, this AGAIN? Would Rastian ever learn how to be ask for what he wanted nicely? He turned, grabbed Rastian's arms and twisted them around his back again.

"Tell me what you want like an ADULT, Rastian!" He screamed.

"YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT I WANT!" Rastian cried, wriggling around as he was caught in his brother's arm trap again. How stupid could Natsu be?! Why did he have to be polite to his brother?! Sure, being polite to others is very important, but with FAMILY he could be as DAMN RUDE AS HE WANTED!

"Let me go, let me go, let me gooooooooo!" He repeated, thrashing around like a fish out of water.

"WELL, I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT!" Natsu replied, tightening his grip around Rastian's wrists. While he had a pretty good guess that Rastian just wanted to go home and relax, he wasn't about to allow himself to be cursed at in such a horrible manner. His brother would learn how to be respectful in his own home if it KILLED HIM!

He leaned forward, clutching Rastian's hands firmly to his back, and placed his head on his shoulder.
"I am NOT going to be spoken to like this anymore, do you understand me?" He growled. "You will be held like this each time you disrespect anyone in our family. I don't care if you curse outside of our house, but when you address Mycah, Ogbonna, Fakih, or myself I don't want to hear a curse word come out of your mouth!" Then, he leaned out again, allowing his grip to loosen. "Now, I will let you go when you can tell me what you want in a calm, respectable manner."

Rastian heaved a heavy sigh and ceased his struggle against Natsu. He wasn't going to win this, not today, not ever. If he knew what was good for him, he would stop and give Natsu what he wanted. He turned his head towards his brother and grimaced.

"I would like go home and relax, please." He said. "I don't feel up to going to the beach with you, today. Maybe some other time..."

Ah, just as he had suspected. Well, he couldn't blame Rastian if he wanted to go home. He had been traveling all day, he deserved a good rest at home. He smiled, released his grip on Rastian, and turned to wander down the path.

"Alright then, if that's what you would like to do." He replied, waving. "I'll see you at home! Be careful with your bags!"

"Will do, Natsu, will do..." Rastian mumbled, rubbing the spot on his wrists where Natsu had held him the tightest. He sighed, retied a few of his satchels and forced himself to smile. Sure, he appreciated Natsu and all that his family had ever done for him, but he couldn't help but feel detached from them. He didn't mean to be so horrible and rude, especially towards Natsu and Mycah.

A sad look flashed over his features for a moment and he gazed down towards the beach. It was his own fault for feeling detached. He turned down every offer to attach when it was present to him out of his own inner turmoil. He sighed, abandoned his satchels, and raced after Natsu.

"Wait, I would like to spend the day with you!" He called. "I haven't been to the beach in ages! I hope it hasn't changed too much!"

Rouge Solo #1: "Who am I...?"

"There are some things that are best left buried within the soul and locked away with the torn up memories of destinies that could have been. These sensitive topics, these well kept secrets, often bring upon pain and grief when forced to the light. Once shadowed, shunned, cast aside like a vile piece of fruit left too long in the sunlight, these things flow forth like needles pinning through each of your nerves. The freedom that they experience is uplifting, but more often times than not, their release means the death of a protective cover, a conditioned shield, that their captor had coveted from the time that they were born. Forever they are blamed, these instances of displeasure, of pain and discord, for the laments and actions of those they affect and disturb.

But they are only feelings, mere memories of the troubles from years gone by. They are a part of our journey, our existence in this world, and dealing with them properly is an obstacle all of us must tackle somewhere along the road. Life isn't all about pleasure, nor is it cut clean and dry. There is no reason, no definite purpose, as to why this all occurs. All we can do is wander through each defined little stage and make our paths in the only ways we seem to know how. Those that guide us can either be trusted or met with contempt, we must choose our company wisely, or we will be met with a swift and certain fall."

He paused, his eyes dark and worn from the candle light surrounding him. He was tired, agitated, and in no way willing to turn around. Miles of running melted back into minutes of talking, and his head whirled around again. Was all he had ever known a lie? Did he really know himself? Certainly this was just a dream! He would remember something as important as this!

He backed up, inch by every razor sharp inch, mentally retracing detail after detail until either sense could be drawn or his heart could bear no more thought for the duration of a minute. He recalled hands, hands akin to his, both soft but not as strong. They used to brush against his skin, tease his once sand colored hair, and clap for him as he made progress in his steps towards a desired object. His eyes, this man, these men, who were they really? The one with the gauntlets, he was not his father.

Again he cried, again he sighed, HE WAS NOT HIS FATHER!

"Poison of the mind, toxin of the heart! How intrusive you are! I ask you to pardon me! Go back, go back, and take with what you have done to me! Leave me as I was, careless and free! Never once, never once, have I ever wanted to bother thee!

Bring me not one more sentence, not one more glance! I WANT YOU NO FURTHER! NO FURTHER, I GASP! Give way, leave me be, SET ME FREE! That is all I ask of thee!"

Forward it went, despite his pleas, and down he went, deep into the jar of abandoned memories...

"You were my father. My world was opened by thee. But where have you gone so easily? You left behind your entire family...

Were we a burden to you, dear father of mine? A burden upon your stealing and self-pleasing? WELL PISS TO YOU! PISS TO ALL THAT IS GOLD AND PERFECT IN THINE EYES! Dear father, sweet father, PISS TO YOU!

It be your fortune that I am not standing right before you, with my words in my hands, but you are far away, jailed for the crimes you have done! I am ashamed, ashamed, ashamed, ASHAMED I SAY! You are what causes my persistent anger and DISMAY!

Dear father, sweet father, how long has it been? I am grown, yes, GROWN. You left, your fault, NOT MINE! My hair has been dyed an orange hue, TO STRAY FROM THE LIKES OF YOU!

How does that sound, thou who cannot HEAR ME? THOU WHO CANNOT SEE ME! THOU IS NOT MY FATHER NO MORE!"

It was over, for now, the mental lamenting of a rouge in training. At least for the paper he had used for it's initial birthing. He stood, eyes closed and watery, and turned back for home. He would see to it that this whole story was gone! He was not his son! HE WAS NOT HIS SON!

But the truth must always stand firm and be believed. His brother, again, did say words that harmed him deeply. How... How could this lie have survived for so long? HOW? HOW? He trusted Mycah... HE TRUSTED MYCAH.

"Dear brother, sweet brother, I TRUSTED YOU TOO FAR!" He cried, his boiling point reached. "You are not my brother, you have never been! WHY WOULD YOU LIE TO ME?"

His brother yelled atop him, as he had always done, and gripped his shoulder. Comfort, no, control, YES. He grunted, growled, and thrashed his elder brother off of him. NO LIARS WILL TOUCH HIM! NOT NOW, NOT EVER!

"DO NOT TOUCH ME, HE WHO I NO LONGER KNOW!" He screamed, racing to a back corner. "LEST YOU WISH ME TO BATTLE!"

But a battle did not proceed, at least not that of physical standards. He remained in the corner, pressed against the arms of his brother. A hug, a hug was all he needed to re-imagine his situation. There was something wrong, his mind still spun in circles, a drink... Perhaps more than five? Ten? Oh dear, he was reduced to chuckles, then to tears. How far down the trail had he gone?

"It was easy, to give into this feeling, but it will eventually subside. I am embarrassed to say that I drank more than I should have today."

For future writing, he assured himself, as his mind began to clear. Now he could refocus, now he could make an attempt to understand.

"Today, I found out that Moka is not my real father. I really should have known this all along, because I have very clear memories of Osha, my real father. But despite that fact, I became very angry. Osha was a thief, that was how he lived his life, and I refused to believe I was the son of a thief.

You could say that I refused to believe it so badly, that I wanted to drown myself in alcohol. WHOOPS! Natsu and beer don't mix. REMEMBER THAT FOR FUTURE NOTICE!

All in all, I've recovered, though I've still got a ways to go before I can stand again. Ha! The ground looks like water and the paper reminds me of leaves!

I should probably be asleep."

Rouge Solo #2: "Lost In The Unknown"

Once recovered from his alcohol binge and his actions properly forgiven, Natsu found himself in the back of an old tent where his fathers used to stay. It had laid empty, unused for years on end, but it was still filled with all of their old things. Moka's basic and keen gauntlets were kept away in a box for safe keeping, but the basic ones had been removed by Mycah, to be used for Ogbonna's imminent training. Osha had left his beloved scarf and gloves upon his cot, which Natsu gently stroked, his eyes still much more than distant. One glove had been left on Moka's side of the bed, as if Osha had wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch his lover again.

To Natsu, all of these things brought him a sense of loss and a sense of self. His fathers were gone, but all of their things were here. He could still snuggle up against the blankets and wear Osha's clothes. He could linger around Moka's weapons and trace his fingers along his battle cloak. Or, he could simply sit in the center and let it all come to him, each item, each memory, waving back in sequence. How long had he been in there, remembering his parents? He shook his head and flopped down upon the blankets on the floor. It was then that his maternal figure came flashing back into his mind, and he sat straight up again. That face. That woman. His mother.

Slowly, he crept out from the tent, and back into his own. He huddled into the corner and pulled out his towel, the one he traveled everywhere with, and snuggled it close. His mother had given him this, she collected them. How could he have forgotten her, too? They weren't dissimilar, as he recalled, both thirsty for adventure and swimming. In fact, she had taken him down to the beach for his first dip in the water. Tears welled in his eyes as that memory swam passed and faded along with the others, and he stood. Where had she gone? She couldn't be as far as Osha and Moka were!

At first, Mycah was reluctant to tell Natsu where their mother had wandered off to, considering his actions last night, but eventually, it was revealed that she was in Tale. She had left a long time ago, but promised to return once she knew she was able. Natsu grinned and ignored Mycah's pleas for him to stay home. He was going to find his mother, and nothing was going to stop him. He packed his favorite satchels, combed his hair, and snuck back into his father's tent to retrieve Osha's mesh gloves and boots. If there was one thing he and his father could ever agree on, it was the style of their clothes. The boots were just his size and fit just below the knee, a perfect fit for a walk to Tale. The gloves were slightly tight along the wrists, but comfortable none-the-less. Then, he slipped out of the tent, and snuck his way out of Mez.

Upon the first leg of the journey, he found himself contemplating if this is what Osha had to do in order to continue stealing, this sneaking around. But he shook his head and marched forward, he had a mission, a noble mission. He was no thief, and no son of a thief, no matter what his brother said! Not that Mycah had ever accused him of being a thief in the first place, but if Osha was indeed his father, which he was, Natsu could be certain that other people would insinuate the same of him. He wasn't going to have any of that! He was a good man, one with humility, kindness, and empathy! Those that stole didn't possess such wonderful traits! Therefore, it was impossible for him to be a thief!

This cycle of thinking rambled on and on like a broken record until, finally, Natsu "woke" in the middle of the forests of Tale. Well, s**t, he'd been thinking so much, he'd wandered all the way to his destination without even knowing it! He grinned. Now all he had to do was figure out where he was and find where his mother had made camp! Mycah had said that she preferred to keep out of the way of most tribes and if permitted, she would live on the outside of the village, to keep from intruding. However, she had set out Tale quite some time ago and made a point that she was heading for Yera in her most recent letters, which gave Natsu a point of reference. She said she was in Isd about two weeks ago, according to a letter, which meant that she was likely on her way to Yera on the other side by now. Her tent was bright yellow, it was covered in feathers and paint, and Natsu was on his way to find her!

Hours went by like minutes with his thoughts and memories to pass the time away. Little things began to pour back in as the sands of Tale parted beneath his boot clad feet, tiny, pleasant memories that brought his heart higher than it had been the past day or so. A woman in soft blue attire lifting him above his head, long walks from Mez to a village in Tale, and a young boy with antennae who would greet him like a brother. It didn't amaze him as much as he thought it would, that he had met Yaholo prior to all of this, or that the other boy had forgotten him, too. They were both very busy growing up and had lost track of who they had met. It wasn't like they had seen each other every day, anyway. Other faces waved through with the colored grass at every turn he took. A man filled with laughter and praise, a woman who both healed and cooked meals, and a small, energetic girl who wanted nothing more than to get up and play along with her elder brother. How many people had he tucked away along with his father? Every single person that he was now remembering was of a positive light... Why would they be tossed aside as well?

Perhaps they were associated with the chaos he experienced as a child, the constant moving and leaving, and being pushed aside. His mind did what it thought was best and rounded up each individual according to the time they had belonged in. He had forgotten them all so easily, and he would remember them just as easily, too. The roots and drinks they shared, the children he played with, his mother's long, tumbling curls. His heart beat accelerated, he had to be close to her now! Everything was becoming increasingly familiar, increasingly vivid, and the scent of a fire was not far off!

He rounded a corner, his eyes catching the paint splattered tent, and a woman with blonde hair tending to the fire outside. His mother, his mother, HIS MOTHER!

"Mother, I've found you!" He cried, leaping into her arms as she stood to greet him. Her hair, her arms, her scent! She was everything that he had remembered she was!

Rouge Solo #3: "A Circle Of Friends"

Pan was just as Natsu recalled, feisty, friendly, and motherly. She had cut her hair since their last meeting, but kept it curly and unadorned, due to the heat that Tale brought upon it's land. It was uncanny how similar she was, how wonderful she still was, and just how much she had to say to him. Why did he dye his hair? Did he grow as tall as his brother yet? Why was he wearing Osha's boots? Did he ask permission? He laughed all the while as he answered her questions. The nagging was more than welcome, he had missed her voice and much as she had missed him. This was his mother, and he was glad to have found her.

They spent the night together in the tent before packing it all up to travel the rest of the way to Yera. Pan had been dead set on visiting Walvia, her closest friend in that village, and agreed to go home with Natsu once that had been accomplished. Still, they chatted, revisiting Natsu's past and walking the road of memories together. With someone level headed to help him understand, unlike his brother who had little patience to explain things again and again, Natsu was able to piece things together. His life was not as mysterious as he had thought it was. Pan shifted through each stage of his growing up, commenting on every little achievement and slip up she had seen him do, all with a loving, earnest tone in her voice. While he had not physically seen her standing there, she had watched him grow up while he played, never wanting to interfere with anything he had set his heart on doing. Ultimately, Natsu was grateful for her distance, though he had conveyed his sadness at her not being there for comfort. But, she was here now, and that was all that mattered to him.

Forward they marched, laughing and chattering away, until the gates of Yera approached them. Pan grew excited and pulled Natsu along with her, despite his initial protests. He remembered this village, but from where, he wasn't certain. He was whisked away towards a tree which they then climbed, to greet a very cheerful young woman at the top. Her hair was done up in an intricate bun and her clothes were covered by a clean tan apron. Natsu admired her ruddy colored locks until his mother introduced him. He smiled and did a small bow.

"Hello, you must be Walvia." He said, his mind overcome by a sudden sensory overload. "Yaholo has told me much about you. Is he here...?"

But before he could receive his answer, the women had shuffled inside and immersed themselves in a conversation around a bowl of roots and berries. Natsu sighed and turned his attention upwards. He enjoyed climbing, and there was much more of this tree to ascend, why not enjoy the full benefits of the view? He clamored atop the roof and grabbed onto the twisting bark, allowing his hands to gently caress its texture for a moment. Somehow, he remembered this, too. The way the bark glided against his skin, the voices of the people below, and the sunlight moving through the tops of the trees.

He had been here before, when he was small, along with his family. They had traveled from Mez to Yera to meet another family they knew very well. He swung around a thick branch and sat, allowing his legs to dangle idly from their spot. Yes, this was the family, Yaholo's family. He knew them very well. Walvia liked to cook and heal, she was her mother's friend. They had a daughter, whom he had not seen, but he recalled her as very lively. But there was one person missing, a man whom his father was very friendly with. His name, his name... What was his name...?

"Oh, Natsu! You've grown quite handsomely, haven't you?"

The voice belonged to a man to his side, whom he hadn't seen climb up after him. Admittedly, he jumped and clamped his hands against the bark of the tree until his balance was regained, but faced the man with a smile. This was the man he remembered. His dark chestnut hair tumbled out of a loose pony tail to the side of his face, while his eyes sparkled like emeralds in the dust all around. He wore a smile that could have sent Natsu into a giggle fit, if he weren't sitting several feet above the ground upon a branch. He nodded quickly and produced a smile of his own.

"It's good to see you!" He said, his expression turning rather sheepish.
"I'm afraid I've forgotten you name, though, sir..."

"My name is Cusick!" The man laughed, patting Natsu on the back. "You're just like your father, forgetting everyone's names!"

Natsu frowned. He was nothing like Osha! How could Cusick be so cruel, comparing him to a liar and a thief such as Osha? He turned his face away from Cusick and heaved a heavy sigh. However, as he did, his shoulder was caught by Cusick's hand and his body was forced to turn towards the other man again. Blue eyes looked upon Cusick with veiled curiosity, the older man seemed sad now... What was the matter?

"I'm sorry if I was rude just now..." He offered, glancing away.

"No, no, you're not being rude at all, Natsu." Cusick replied, patting Natsu on the shoulder. "I understand why you're so against being compared to your father. He wasn't always the most trustworthy person..." He sighed, but smiled, before continuing. "If you promise me that you'll treat him with some sort of kindness... I'll tell you where you can find him."

Natsu's eyes widened sharply and nearly bore through Cusick's head as he spoke. He knew where his father was being held? Why the hell didn't he start that conversation with that bit of information? He nodded quickly to the offer and sat quite eagerly.

"Tell me, I promise I won't be rude to him!" He exclaimed, though half-hearted.

"Alright, if you're really willing to show him some kindness..." Cusick said. "He's been transferred to Isd and is due to be released in two days time. Perhaps you would like to show him the way back home to Mez?"

Natsu nodded. He'd show him the way home, the LONG way home. This was his chance to give his father a piece of his mind! All he had to do was travel to Isd, find Osha among those living there, and isolate him! Then he could let loose as long as he wanted! The mere thought of being able to let go of all his pain and anger was enough to make him leap off this branch and run straight to Isd! But he knew he couldn't do that, not with Cusick staring at him. He made a "promise" to the man, and he had to "keep it", just until he was out of his sight, that is.

Before he left Yera, Natsu waved goodbye to his mother and said he would meet her back home in Mez later on with Osha. When she asked how long he would be, he smiled and explained that he wanted to "catch up with Osha as much as possible" before they arrived back home. He would tell him every single detail of his life without him there, and he would be forced to listen to it all while they walked a long, seemingly unending walk home! It would be the perfect revenge upon a father who refused to spend his days at home where he belonged!

Rouge Solo #4: "Finding Hope"

The trip to Isd had been a long one filled with accidents and upsets. He had dropped his satchel twice, spilled his water skin thrice, and scraped his knee so bad that it required a whole night's rest before it stopped bleeding! So much time had been lost, precious time, time he could have spent yelling at his father! With his beloved towel wrapped around his bad leg and a near demonic scowl, he finally trudged into the settlement, his eyes darting this way and that for anyone that looked like his father. Isd was a small settlement, but that didn't mean that it lacked places to hide.

He staggered around for about an hour until he reached his breaking point. His leg had started to bleed again and it was hurting like a b***h! He sat upon the ground, muttering profanities as he did, and untied his makeshift bandage to assess his wound again. It was deep, raw, and itchy as hell, which only made his sour mood worsen. If only he had seen that pile of rocks! If only! If only! He growled, opened his water skin, and poured some now steaming hot water upon the wound, and let out a shrill scream. AUGH! Now he understood why Rastian hated Tale with such passion! Everything here was as hot as ******** he sat cursing, moaning, and crying, a man with sand colored hair approached him. His arms were loosely tied together by rusty metal, but were given just enough freedom to reach out and touch Natsu's hair. His eyes were filled to the brim with curiosity, as if he were stunned to see someone like Natsu here, but seemed to loose their sparkle as they fell upon the younger man's wound. Natsu peered up at him, before his eyes narrowed harshly, and he swatted the man's hand away.

"Well, if it isn't my father!" He growled, wincing. "It's lovely to see your concern! Where the hell have you been all these years?!"

Osha seemed shaken by Natsu's words and shuffled backwards, his hand reaching upwards to cover his mouth. His reaction caused Natsu to become even more agitated, why the hell was he so ******** shocked?! Of course his son wasn't happy to see him! How the hell could he expect him to be happy at a time like this?! He turned his attention back to his wound, which had only worsened, and bit his lip. Great! Because of his clumsiness, he was going to die out here! Just ******** great!

"I... I know you're not happy to see me!" Osha squeaked, rushing to Natsu's side. "But I... I'm your father and I need to get you help! How did you hurt yourself so badly, Natsu?!"

"What does it matter to you?!" Natsu cried, pressing himself up against a wall. Of course, this didn't do very much to help him evade his father, but it was all he could think of doing. Why did Osha care? He had never been there for every other slip up, bang up, and scuff that Natsu had been through! This one shouldn't matter either!

However, his words caused Osha's face to pucker up, and his eyes to close shut. For a moment, it looked as if his father was holding his breath, until he began to cry. Natsu watched as the older man fell to his knees, flailed his shackled arms around, and let out a scream not too far off from his own. He shivered, sputtered, and finally lunged forward, grabbing Natsu by his shoulders.

"I AM SO SORRY FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE MISSED!" Osha screamed. "I will never forgive myself for the things I have stolen, the people I have hurt, and everything I have ever done wrong! Never once during my fifteen years in captivity have I ever given myself any form of praise, love, or satisfaction! I don't even ask any forgiveness! NEVER WILL I ASK FOR FORGIVENESS!"

He coughed rather harshly, before staring Natsu straight in the eyes. "All I ask is that you please, PLEASE, allow me to help you! I may not have been there for you all these years, but I had no other choice! If I stayed, you were all in danger of being killed, kidnapped for ransom, or ravaged! When I weighed my odds that final day, I realized that I would have to go back to jail or risk losing all of you, permanently!"

Finally, he took a deep breath, and buried his face in Natsu's shoulder.
"Please... Don't make my heart shatter any further by seeing you in such a horrible state!" He cried. "Let me help you, Natsu! LET ME HELP YOU, I BEG YOU, PLEASE!"

By the end of his father's cries, Natsu had dissolved into tears. How could he be so cruel to his father? He had no other choice! It was either run around Tendaji forever and put your entire family at risk, or finish your sentence and save your family the trouble! Sure, Natsu was left without his father to look up to, but it was sure as hell better than having to live a childhood where you were constantly on the run! His father hadn't left them because he wanted to, he had left because he HAD TO!

He wrapped his arms around Osha and sobbed. What was he doing being so angry and horrible? This wasn't the way he was raised! Hell, he was hardly ever angry at all! His father only wanted to help him and make up for the time that they had lost! How could he deny him that? What was he thinking?! He wanted to say he was sorry for being cruel, he wanted to say how much he had missed him, how much he wanted his dad to come home and be happy! But his eyes were growing heavy, he was blacking out from the blood loss!

Before he fainted, his eyes fell upon his father's face as he was being carried away. His father was so concerned for him, so worried... It made Natsu feel guilty, but also comforted. Osha loved him, Osha wanted him. And Osha looked almost exactly like him...

----

Just a little over a week later, Natsu had recovered enough to leave Isd and return home to Mez. His knee had been bandaged and re-bandaged three times, just to be sure it wasn't going to start bleeding again on the way back home. The healers in Isd were very kind, he'd have to remember them for future travels. He waved to all of the settlers as he made his way past the gates, before turning towards Osha with a cheeky smirk.

"Do you know why our wrists are joined by this rope, dad?" He asked.

"Uuuh... So I can't run off?" Osha replied, sticking his tongue out at Natsu. "Not that I'm going to, silly goose."

"Not quite." Natsu replied, smiling. "It's so I don't lose hope."
