It was a good day to leave the camp and hunt for food in the harsh Sauti mountains, and the older members of Natsu's family had done just that, leaving him in charge of Ogbonna. He was a responsible person, and they trusted him to do that. It wasn't like he hadn't taken care of his nephew before. What could happen?

Natsu: You only left your wild nephew for a few moments while getting something out of a pack for him and now the camp is suddenly far too quiet. Somehow, he's already gone.

Everything was just as usual, so it seemed. Mycah and the other elders had left to go hunt, all the other Prentices had gone off on their own adventures, leaving him to tend to the camp and his beloved nephew, Ogbonna. Meh, nothing out of the ordinary here. Unless there was some sort of grave surprise being hurtled at him, he was as blissful and unaware as his had always been.

"Alright, Oggie!" He called, turning his back to the rather animalistic Youngling to grab his favorite ball. "Let me grab your sand ball, and we can go to the beach! How's that sound?" Natsu's eyes gleamed at the thought. He LOVED the beach! It was his SANCTUARY! Ogbonna loved to swim, too, which was a perk when he had to watch him, how could the tyke refuse such an offer?

However, the growing silence surrounding him made his heart drop and his head throb. No. No, he couldn't have! He would have made some sort of sprinting sound! Slowly, and with an agonized demeanor, Natsu turned his body and let out a low, rolling growl. "OGBONNA?!" He screamed, leaping to his feet the instant he saw the empty space. "GET YOUR LITTLE BEHIND BACK HERE! I'M NOT IN THE PROPER STATE TO RUN TO JAUHAR AGAIN!" He rushed forward and scanned the rocks for any sign of his nephew. "OGBONNA?!"

Natsu's voice echoed off the quiet peaks, which repeated his calls word for word into infinity, as if Sauti itself was lazily mocking his search. There was no other response to his frantic calling.
The purple rocks and hazy air revealed nothing of Ogbonna, but the dusty greyish ground between the rocks had tracks among it's scraggling weeds.
Small ones, like a youngling's foot. They were close-paced- he had been moving quickly- and they pattered off into the far distance, away from the camp.
No other sign of Ogbonna could be seen in the yellowed Sauti scenery.

Okay, seriously, Ogbonna had run off through the weeds, AGAIN. Natsu swore, if he were being given some sort of pay for babysitting this brat, he wouldn't be being paid NEARLY enough. The wind boy heaved a heavy, exasperated sigh, and lunged after the tracks like an animal.

"Okay, Ogbonna!" He called, twisting through the weeds and rocks, keeping a keen eye out for his nephew. "This isn't cute anymore! Let's go home, RIGHT NOW!"

Natsu's calls were still met with only their own echos. Whether the great purple rocks thought the situation was cute or not, nobody could say. Nothing but Natsu's own voice stirred the quiet of this Sauti day.
His tracking was more productive. The footprints were clear and fresh in the dirt and not hard to follow, though the little Wind-leaf boy had been moving very quickly. Here and there was a handprint, as if he had been moving so fast that he had tripped, or had tried to run on all fours. There was no blood, no signs of scuffle or harm, not even a caught piece of cloth.
But there was something equally worrying: in a patch of somewhat patchy silt, a partial footprint could be seen near Ogbonna's trail: a big print- as big as two of the youngling's feet and clawed- curved so that they made little pin-like indents in the dirt. It, too, was freshly imprinted- the winds had not softened its outline yet, just as Ogbonnas were still clear.

Ogbonna's tracks continued onward.

Natsu paused, analyzing the large partial foot print next to his nephew's trail, and raced forward again. What could have made such a large print?! Was it a Raptrix? A Sailscale? Or something more vicious and unpredictable...? Well, whatever it was, it looked like it was following close to his nephew's side, and he would need to either protect Ogbonna from it or it from Ogbonna's wrath.

He continued to follow his nephew's tracks, more unamused with the whole ordeal than worried about what could be happening. He'd done this all before, what sort of idiotic thing would he have to "rescue" Ogbonna from now?

With its heavy, broad paw pads, the creature's footprint was not that of a sailscale or a raptrix or anything that Natsu would be familiar with.
Whatever it was, it was definitely nearby- almost alongside- his nephew's tracks.
Even if the paw prints lied, the distance between pawprints did not- this thing was a lot bigger than his nephew.
If Natsu had experience tracking, he might notice that his nephew and the creature were traveling at the same rate.

Until his nephews tracks seemed to stop, suddenly. Only the creature's tracks, which shifted slightly in their pattern, remained and continued on, towards the base of a jagged cliff face.

Now Natsu was worried. Whatever had been following alongside his nephew was huge and could have easily taken off with him! SHIIIIIIIIT! Mycah was going to MURDER HIM!

Without a second to lose, Natsu hustled forward and towards the jagged cliff face, only to lose the tracks. "Oh maaaan! OH MAAAAN!" He groaned, stamping his feet. He was in so much trouble now!

The ground was not as dusty here- the winds were stronger and blew the dust away before it could become stable enough to be footprints.

The tracks were lost. Hope was lost.

But wait. There was a cave nearby, carved into the cliff face by wind and water. It's mouth was ringed with the bones of capramel, and, even from a distance, it smelled of the warm scent of a living animal.

A sound came from it, a childish sound of protest. Not animal, human.

The animal he had been tracking... could this be it's lair?

"A...Cave...?" Natsu mumbled, squinting his eyes to get a better view. Yeah, it was a pretty decent looking cave, with animal bones scattered around... He should probably turn aro- Was that Ogbonna?! That voice! From the cave! SHIIIIIIIIIIIT!

"Don't worry, Oggie! Uncle's coming!" He screamed, grabbing the nearest stone and running inside the cave.

Another sound- more annoyed than deathly terrified or upset.
But it was definitely Ogbonna, and this became clearer as Natsu ran into the cave.
Natsu's running steps echoed as the outside light grew fainter and the place grew darker. How far in was he? It was hard to tell, and the terror didn't help. Fortunately, there were glowing crystals that helped to light the way.
The sounds stopped coming, and all Natsu could hear was the loud breathing of something big. There was a growl behind it, but, though it resonated threateningly in Natsu's chest and stomach, it felt more like a snore than a growl.
It was just down the hall, were a cluster of glowing crystals shed their light on something just around the corner.

...

Dare he continue?

Some may call Natsu bold and brave for going into that cave to rescue his nephew, but most wouldn't know how much his older brother would want to murder him if he didn't. Besides, Oggie wasn't so bad... When he was asleep!

The darkness in the cave was creepy, but nothing Natsu hadn't seen before. Jauhar was fairly similar, with the glowing crystals and the snarling beasts, nothing to be scared about. Blue eyes peered at crystals in the corner and squinted to try and discern what sort of thing they were shedding their light upon. He shuffled closer, took a knee upon the cave floor, and began poking at whatever it was.

"Ogbonna? Is that you?" He asked, practically jabbing whatever it was with his pointer finger.

A snort, then an annoyed growl as glowing yellow eyes opened and looked at him.
Claws gleamed in the light as a creature snarled.

It was big and densely furred, with huge, Crystal-studded bearlike paws and a muzzle full of sharp teeth. As it moved slowly, but powerfully, to a more awake position, Natsu could see that it had huge ears that made it's massive head look tiny in comparison. Flaps of thin-furred skin stretched from it's elbows to it's hind legs.
It was curled up, but under one of the flaps a familiar and very small foot could be seen, but as the creature moved to a more awake posture, the skin flap covered the foot entirely.

It growled again, and sleepily raised a claw. Clearly, it didn't like being poked.

Natsu took a step back and gasped, but quickly snarled at the beast, having seen the foot underneath it's skin. Ogbonna was being crushed underneath this monster! He lunged forward and shoved at the monster with all his might.

"GET OFF MY NEPHEW! YOU'LL KILL HIM!" He screamed, punching and kicking at the monster. "OGBONNA!"

A deep rumble game from the creature's throat, and Natsu's punches and kicks- even with the rock in hand- didn't seem to do much besides annoy it- it's fur was thick and springy, and it's skin was probably also quite thick.
Natsu was lucky it was sleepy when it swiped at him with those dinner-plate sized paws bearing sharp talons- it's movements were slow and he could easily evade it.

A muffled yelp of protest could be heard, a human one, as the creature moved.

Natsu's shouts had more of an effect. The creature swiped, yes, but it drew back into a compact ball, its large ears folding back against it's head. It didn't seem to like the noise.
