A Warm Spring Evening
The moment that the sun set the air started to fill with the flickering flow of the night time insects, something that drew the attention of the boy who was pacing around near the door in a manner that said that he was waiting for that very sunset to occur, "Mom! Come on, the sun is setting! Let's go play!" He called, looking over his shoulder, his eyes wide with excitement as he waited for the woman to appear. Her last patient had left some time ago, dinner had been made and eaten, and now it was time for them to actually have a bit of fun! The boy was all but bouncing in place by the time the woman finally appeared from her work room, having gotten it all cleaned up and ready for tomorrow. There was never a shortage of patients, something he'd learned long ago, which left him bored for many hours of the day, not that he was the sort to complain. So long as they were able to go outside once his mother was done with work Junjie was happy.
Lien looked at her son as she walked toward him, giving a little smile, "Junjie, you slow down a little bit, alright? We are going to go outside, I promise." The sun had only just set but already her son was eager to go out. She could understand though, they rarely went outside during the day due to her being busy as well as her not wanting for him to be alone. There were too many dangerous people in the world, those that wouldn't take kindly to someone like her son who was different compared to other kids his age. It was due to his mixed blood, something that didn't sit well with many people in the world. Due to these people and what they represented she kept her son close, something that he'd been fine with when he was younger but now that he was growing up it was starting to bother the boy a bit. He didn't like being locked up all day, tended to slip out of his room to watch her while she worked, and a few times he was called to help when she needed an extra set of hands. She really did hope that she would be able to get him to settle down and serve in the clinic alongside her so that she could continue to keep an eye on him.
After lighting it Lien picked up a small lantern, "Alright, go ahead." She murmured, giving a soft smile as the boy went dashing out of the house, leaving the door hanging open behind him. Giving a little shake of her head the woman followed along after him, closing the door after herself so as not to let any of the flickering insects into the house. She walked over to a small table a chairs that sat outside their house, setting the lantern down before she settled into one of the chairs, keep an eye on her son, "Don't go too far! Stay where I can see you!" She called out after him.
Junjie lifted a hand, waving it to show that he had heard her, but didn't slow down in his pursuit of the various night time bugs. There were so many things to chase after at night that weren't out during the day, something that he had in common with them since he didn't go out during the day either. Jumping up into the air, his wings flapping like mad as they did so, and he closed his hands around one of the flickering bug, "Gotcha!" He said, opening his hands just enough to peek in at the bug that he'd caught hold of, smiling at it, before he hurried over to his mother, nearly tripping over his own feet in excitement, "Look, look! Look what I got!" He said, holding up his hands toward her, the green light the creature was giving off coming from between his lightly closed fingers.
Lifting her hands up to cup those of her son Lien leaned over to peek between his fingers at the flickering bug that was standing there in his hands, looking as though it were putting up pretty well with the child that was manhandling it. At least he was gentle enough that he wasn't crushing the little thing, "It's very pretty the way that it glows, when you let it go do so away from the lantern so that it doesn't try to fly into the flames, alright?" She warned her son, patting his hands. Were the bug to do so she was more then certain that her kindhearted son would end up heartbroken over it.
"Alright! I will let him go over by the corn where all of his friends are playing." He said, hurrying over in that direction, his wings flapping once more as though they were attempting to help speed the boy up. It was an unconscious thing that he seemed to do whenever he was running around, climbing up onto things, or jumping off of them. It was the fact that it seemed to be an unconscious reaction that worried his mother, not wanting for her son to be spotted with both horns and wings, something that would scream 'hybrid' to anyone that saw him. She warned him about being careful as far as his wings went as often as possible, something that seemed to go over his head. Once he reached the edge of the corn field the boy opened up his hands, letting the glowing creature push off his hand and flew up into the air, away from Junjie. The boy starred up at the critter for a long moment before he heard the croaking song of another creature, one that dragged his attention away from the glowing bug and over to the singing, eyes going wide.
"Ah! Froglop! Mom there is a froglop!" He cried, gleeful that one of them had come up into the yard, normally something that was found by the stream that cut through their property instead. He bounced in place, waving his arms at his Mom in excitement before he went chasing after the amphibian creature with the fluffy ears and tail, that gave a croak of surprise before it went hopping away from Junjie. The creature instantly turned to make a vline toward the corn, hoping to escape from him by hiding in the shadows of the tall plants, "Awww! Come back, Froglop..." He said, squatting down so that he could try to spot where the creature had gotten off to. There was a long moment where Junjie was completely silent, holding himself still, when the Froglop gave another croak as though unable to help itself... and the boy pounced into the shadows, causing the corn to rustle loudly as he did so.
"Junjie?" His mother called out, pushing up to her feet, walking over toward where her son had vanished into the corn, curious as to what it was that he was doing at the moment. Of course as she got closer, leaning in to get a better look a Froglop suddenly burst forth from the corn, drawing a shriek of surprise from the Dovaa woman who stumbled back away from the creature, landing hard on her backside as it hopped passed her and away from Junie who came out of the corn with a bunch of debris clinging in his hair and clothing, "Ahhh... there you are..." She said, peeking at the Froglop before turning her attention back to her son, holding her hands out to him, "Help me up?"
The boy gave a little giggle before he reached out to take her hands, helping her up onto her feet with a little giggle, "Don't like Froglop, Mom?" He asked, watching as the critter escaped by getting under the prickly flowers that were growing next to the house. He gave a bit of a pout before his attention back to his mother, smiling up at her, "Sorry, didn't mean to chase it out at you." He sounded sincere though he also seemed to be doing his best to keep from bursting into giggles over the fact that she actually shrieked over the Froglop when nothing else seemed to phase the woman.
Giving a shake of her head she said, "Not a fan, they are kind of... odd..." She said, lifting a hand to scratch it against the back of her head, obviously embarrassed over her reaction in front of her son. The woman set to brush herself off as her son lifted his hands to his mouth to smother a giggle, something that caused her to turned ot look at him, "You think it's funny, huh? Oh... I am going to get you..." She said, lifting her hand to make tickling motions, something that caused Junjie to give a squeak before he ran off across the yard with his Dovaa mother in hot pursuit.

Junjie sneaks out of the house while his mother is busy with her work so that he can stretch his legs. While he is out he meets with Erionda and her two Drakein, all of which he finds to be quite fascinating. Due to a misunderstanding Junjie isn't quite on the best of terms with Uassae but perhaps it's something that he can make up for in the future.

Junjie goes on a trio of errands for Arick Skyforge, a man he can't help but to find amazing given his sheer size and the strength he exudes. He was able to finish two of the three tasks assigned to him and found himself being rewarded with a Peisio Orb, something that he means to keep safe forever due to the gift meaning a lot to him. The orb marks the first time that someone other then his mother has given something to him and it's not something that the boy will soon forget.

After the Adventure
After everything that he had gone through during his errands for Arick from searching for a letter that proved to be too wily for Jun to find, walking and digging around at the edge of the lake for pearly scales, and then finally traveling further then he had in one day then he had in his whole life to reach the shores of Souldul to get nocturnal spikes. He'd never tell his mother where he'd gone to find the final item, knowing that she was a little uncertain of the Oblivionites, she didn't hate them but she was intimidated by them, perhaps. He hadn't seen any of them while he was in Souldul but then again he supposed that he really didn't go all that far into the dark continent, nor did he stay for all that long either. It made him wonder if he might have seen one of them if he had stayed awhile longer or if one of them might have seen him while he was searching for the spikes. It was a curious thought but unless he ran across one at a later date who actually told him that he'd seen him before it was a question that would likely get no answer.
Turning to look over at his dresser the boy couldn't help but to give a bright smile as he saw the pretty orb that was sitting there. He'd snagged one of his mother's fancy little pillows off the couch so that he could sit the orb on it. It was so beautiful! Such a pretty color of blue and it was the first time that someone other then his mother had given him something, as such he just wanted to put the orb on display in the best way that he knew how to do so, "So pretty." He murmured, sliding off of his bed so that he could walk over to it, reaching out to carefully pick up the orb, looking into it's swirling surface, "Mister Arick is so nice to have given me such an amazing thing." The man could have just said 'thank you' and Junjie would have been more then satisfied, having only wanted to help the man since he seemed to be in need of that help. He was running low on things and couldn't get them himself, as such Jun wanted to give him a hand. Getting a present in exchange was a more then wonderful sort of surprise. The boy hugged the pretty orb to his chest before he put it back on the fancy pillow.
"I wonder if he will let me help him out again." He mused to himself, unable to help but to be fascinated by the man. He was just... huge! A big, broad, amazing sort of man that had an interesting pair of twisted horns. Trotting over to his bed, wings flapping behind him, he hopped up onto his bed, lifting up onto his tip toes, raising his arms over his head, "I want to be that big someday!" He wasn't sure if it was possible, his mother was pretty petite after all, but maybe his father was a big, strong sort? Maybe he would get big and tall because of him? He could hope for such a thing it was really hard to tell, he was pretty small and petite himself he thought to himself as he looked down at himself, "Hmm... I wonder if I will be small like Mom?" That wouldn't be any fun. Nope, he'd dream about being nice and big like Mister Arick even if his bloodlines wouldn't allow it happen.
Hopping off of his bed, wings flapping, he landed on his feet and trotted across his room and out the door. He would go and see if Mom was done with work for the night he thought to himself, wanting to play outside. He'd vowed to stay close and be on his best behavior for a while after all since she'd actually allowed him to roam the banks of the lake on his own to find the pearly scales for Arick. Best that he didn't wander off too soon after all of that, sure that it would put his mom at ease to have him nearby.

While on a walk in the forest South of where he lives Junjie runs across a rather beautiful Dovaa woman who was perched in a tree. She was full of useful information, telling him about dragons, about the Celestial Plane, even a little about the Dovaa leader Marcus. He finds her stories and Esmeralda herself to be quite amazing. She is someone he would love to meet up with again in the future for sure.

While trying to learn to climb trees in the manner that Esmeralda had been able to do, something she made look quite fun, Junjie meets up with someone quite new and interesting! A hybrid like himself, but this one had Oblivionite blood flowing through his veins instead of Orderite like Junjie. He was a lot of fun to chat with, giving Junjie a lot to think about. Junjie is quite excited to meet with Tyrok again, something that the other boy assures him will happen one day.

Finder's Keepers?
This time around Junjie vowed to be incredibly careful when it came to exploring the woods, having already had enough run ins with the Ysali that seemed to make the woods their home. He would much rather just go on a walk that didn't involve running for his life he thought to himself as he took each step with caution, a walking stick in hand 'just in case' though what it would do against a dragon he didn't know. He just knew that he felt a lot better having something akin to a weapon in hand even if he had no idea exactly how to use it to defeat a dragon. If he was lucky it wouldn't come to that, though he couldn't help but to marvel over just how many Ysali seemed to be around. There was the one that he'd tried to out run and accidentally scored a win against and then there was the sleeping one that he had almost started poking at before he realized exactly what it was that he was dealing with. From now on when it came to green things he was just going to have to be careful, that was all. Famous last words of course as a short time later something strange came rolling down a hill and came to a stop almost at his feet, "Eh?"
Squatting down, resting the stick next to him, he set to inspecting the thing. It was about the size of a watermelon, something that he and his mother grew from time to time when they had the space, it was bright green, and it almost looked like... an egg? What was a big, green egg doing here he found himself wondering, reaching a hand out to rest it against the shell, curious as to why it wasn't in a nest as well as what it was doing rolling down a hill all on its lonesome. Just as he was trying to figure out the answers to said questions he heard a voice calling out about the 'missing egg' and he looked down at the one that he was squatted down in front of. A part of him wondered if he should pick it up and bring it up to whoever was up there since it seemed to be theirs. Something he was about to do before he heard another voice call back that she wasn't sure where it had gotten off to but that they needed to find it, that it was worth to much to just let go after the work they'd put into stealing it. Junjie's eyes went rather wide as he lowered his gaze to looking down at the brightly colored egg, "You were stolen?" He asked of it in a whisper, as though the egg would answer him back.
It would seem that bringing the egg back to those people wasn't a good idea and he really had no idea where they had stolen them from so he couldn't exactly bring it back to its nest so what should he do with it? Given how cool the shell was starting to feel he knew that he would need to warm it up, that much was for sure, and then he would... bring it home? Seemed like as good an option as any, he couldn't very well leave it sitting here for just anyone to find after all, not when there were egg thieves on the loose. He wasn't sure what it made him, he was trying to save the egg from thieves so that was good but he couldn't bring it back to where it belonged so that wasn't as good... but at least he could bring it home, warm it up, keep it safe, everything that needed to be done. Right? It was a strange situation where there was no way that he could really do the right thing, not when the right thing would be him trying to figure out where this egg belonged while avoiding egg thieves, Ysali, and various other dangers.
"I will take you home with me, Mom might know what to do." He told the egg before he stretched out the shirt he was wearing so that he could pull the egg under it, one arm wrapped around the hefty egg, and then scooped up the stick that he'd been carrying around with him, before he turned on his heel, and waddled off toward home, making sure to move as quickly as possible to keep himself ahead of those that would probably want to take the egg back from him and it wasn't as though there was much someone his size could do about it.
The trip home was a slow going and exhausting one, never having had to run around while carrying such a heavy weight. It was tiring but it was actually good training he thought to himself in an amused manner. Maybe he should see about carrying the egg around a bit more, he might end up with greater endurance in time he thought to himself as he went, sighing in relief when he saw his home coming into view. Never was he happier to see their house then this very moment... though he wouldn't truly be relieved until he gotten inside and he was certain that the egg thieves weren't following after him. As such the moment he got inside he closed the door, locked it, and shuffled over to one of the windows to peek out from the curtains in the direction he'd come from. There was a long moment that he stood there just like that, watching and waiting, but never spotting anyone out of the ordinary walking by. That must mean that he'd made it back safety? Wonderful! Giving a sigh of relief he sank down to his knees on the ground, hugging the large egg that he had up his shirt, "Phew, you're safe now, Eggy." He told it, sounding quite delighted over that fact.
Pulling his shift up so that he could look the egg over, as well as checking it to make sure that it was warm enough, Junjie gave another smile, "You feel much warmer now, that's good. You were so cold when I first found you." He told the egg, smoothing his hands over it shell before he leaned over to press his head to the glittering shell, curious if he'd heard anything yet. He'd learned long ago when it came to bird eggs at least that you could hear them scratching around and peeping inside the shell. None of that yet, "Not ready to come out yet, huh? It's alright, I will wait patiently until you're feeling up to come out of there." He told the one inside the egg, snuggling it closer to continue to keep it warm and safe.
It wasn't long before the boy was dozing off on the kitchen floor while hugging the adorable egg, it was there that his mother found him and she couldn't help but to sigh a little as she spotted the boy and the giant egg, "Junjie... what did you bring home now?" She murmured, shaking her head as she walked over to scoop the two up, carrying him and the egg back to his room. She could take a guess as to what it was and while it wasn't really something she wanted running around the house she found herself debating over the pros and cons, maybe if he had the egg to look after he'd be convinced to stay home more? She kind of hoped so, he'd been out far more lately then she would like, wanting to just keep her son where he was safe, that being at her side where she could look after him. Once he woke up she supposed that they would need to talk.

During a heavy rain storm a pair of cloaked figures appear on the steps of the house that Junjie lives in with his mother. The pair turn out to be an intimidating Dovaa man named Burrom, someone Junjie's mother seems to know, as well as his hybrid daughter Tilawen. Just like Tyrok, Tilawen is both Dovaa and Oblivionite, something that has Junjie quite interested. The girl is really, really quiet but he doesn't mind filling the silence with chatter and was quite excited those few times that she actually answered some of his many questions.
