Erionda yawned as she rubbed the side of Uassae's neck. Mindful of his long whiskers. She was positioned carefully between the large Aedaun's wings, just below his first set of shoulder blades. She was small enough that her first Drakein companion was able to carry her on his back with great ease. A tiny freshly hatched Keinling was tagging along behind.
"You sure he isn't following us Uassae?" Rio glanced nervously back, briefly locking eyes with her rescued Keinling and smiling.
"Aquon doubtful. You know that blasted Drakein of his would come searching the moment he notices you're gone. Besides he's got his hands full trying to track down this Arick person."
Erionda sighed turning back to rubbing the side of Uassae's neck. "So we have some time at least before Dalbi or Aquon notice. I'm glad Ytauya hasn't come. There's no escaping her or the work she would have me to here."
Uassae grunted his agreement. His claws leaving no trace in the leafy ground as they broke though the line of tree's towards a small lake. Erionda smiled, shifting her weight to slide down from her Aedaun's back. "C'mon Lanzecki. This is the perfect chance to oil your hide so it doesn't crack or hurt you."
Lanzecki gave an exited trill as he hurried into Rio's open arms. The larger Drakein turned to give the smaller one a nudge before taking flight into the water. Lifting the smaller Ayrala Keinling into her arms Rio walked towards the water. Unaware that Uassae had picked up on some movement in the distance and was currently shifting into a guard like mode. His blue eyes slitting as he concentrated.

It was a really nice day outside, one where the sun seemed to be shining, the breeze was blowing, birds were singing, and it was just perfect! Enough so that Junjie couldn't help but to stare out the windows in a rather envious manner, finding that the chickens that were outside eating bugs were lucky compared to him. Why couldn't he be playing out there? A question that he knew the answer to, it was dangerous outside, there were strangers out there, he might be seen, and so on. He'd heard his mother's speech more times then he could remember, the one she gave him every time that he asked to go outside when the sun was up. It really was such a bother. Did it really matter to people what he looked like? Couldn't he go outside if he promised to keep his wings hidden? He knew the answer to that too, the answer was a firm 'no' because it was a promise he couldn't keep. Try as he might anytime something got his adrenaline going, be it being too excited to getting startled by something, his wings popped up. He was trying to get better at hiding them but thus far no luck. Still, despite everything pointing toward him being better off inside, playing in his room, he wanted to go outside!
The boy walked over to the door of his room, peeking out up and down the hallway, then went sneaking down the hall to the big room with the cots in it to check on his mother. She seemed to be busy today, there was a pretty woman from town with the most amazing amethyst hair that was going to be have a baby. He was told that it could be at any moment or hours from now, that one couldn't rush child birth. He'd watched from secret for a little bit but didn't really get it. It seemed pretty boring since nothing was going on and no baby had made an appearance yet. As such he ended up going to his room to play. Seeing that there was still little going on that he noticed he wandered back to his room, pacing around a bit. Maybe... maybe if he was careful? If he stayed on their land, then nobody would chance seeing him? He could play out behind the coop or amongst the tall stalks of corn? Nobody would notice him in there, those plays were taller then his mother at this point.
Giving a nod of his head, deciding that this was the best course of action, he hurried to pull on his boots, tying them quickly, before he crawled onto his bed, pulled open the curtains, and stepped up onto the windowsill. He looked from side to side, just to be careful, and hopped down making sure to jump out far enough that he wouldn't risk knocking the window box where he grew flowers over. After a less then graceful landing he picked himself up and hurried across the yard to where the tall corn grew, disappearing from sight into it.
Playing amongst the corn, chasing various bugs, and even picking a checking the progress of the vegetables only had the power to hold the attention of a child for so long though. Soon enough something else, something he loved, drew his full attention to it, the sound of the stream that cut through their land. It had such a wonderful, babbling sound, one that had him peeking forth from his corn fort, glancing the way of the water. Maybe if he was fast he'd be able to get some time in by the water? He couldn't swim but he could at least take a peek, right? Just a little one of course! At least that was the plan.
Junjie hurried over to the water's edge, peeking down into it, then gave a squeal of delight when he saw what was there at the edge of it, frogs! How he loved them, they sang such wonderful songs at night, they jumped really high, and they were colored in a manner similar to him with a lot of browns and greens. Hurrying along he set to chasing one of the fatter ones, oblivious to the fact that he was getting farther and farther from home as the amphibian refused to be caught easily.

Moving towards the waters edge, Rio placed the small Keinling on the shore. Moving to sit down she slip her boot's and socks off. Lanzecki moved in clumsy motions towards the water with curiosity, setting small moments of giggling from Rio. "You're more impatient then Uassae was." Giggling more when the large Drakein sent a teasing tickle across their close bond. "Be careful Lanzecki! The water might be-"
It was too late, the Keinling had already reached the water. Without thinking he had plunged his whole body into the cold liquid. With a piercing cry, the hatchling struggled to get out of the water and back into Erionda's warm embrace. "I tried to tell you." Rio chided. Refusing to pick the baby up as she moved towards the water. "You can't rush into things like that. You never know what you will experience." Slipping her toes into the water Erionda shivered. The water wasn't all that cold and felt nice against the warm air.
The sandy rocks under her feet were smooth as she shifted around. Extending her arms out to the tiny Keinling. "Come." Wiggling her fingers once as the now tentative creature. A calm smile played on her lips to show she was in no danger.
Uassae dove under the surface of the water. Splashing ripples up Erionda's legs and against the shore reaching up to the skeptical hatchling. Breaking the surface with a twist of his tail. His blue eyes retrained on the distance against the water. I do believe there is something up ahead.
Aquon? Rio mentally asked. Her sudden surge of fear raced across the shared bond.
Uassae's lack of answer caused Erionda to shift in the same direction he was facing. Briefly glancing to Uassae as he moved towards the strange direction. His body attempting to hide within the ripples of the water and the sand below. If it's Aquon he wont be happy about you sneaking up on him.

"Ahh... come on, Mister Frog, you aren't making this easy!" Junjie complained as he continued to follow along after the hopping creature which seemed to always stay one good hop ahead of the boy with the mismatched horns. Pausing for a moment Jun rested his hands on his hips, starring down the frog as though he could stare the beast into submission, "Really, would it be so bad to let me hold you?" He asked before he took a couple of rushing steps forward, then lunged. Junjie's feet got tangled up in the tall reeds the grew at the edge of the water, causing him to tumble forward, but he was able to catch hold of the fat frog which gave a displeased croak as he did so.
As he lay there at the edge of the water he gave a bit of a grin, "Ha! Gotcha!" He said in pleased sort of way, dragging himself to his feet, holding the squirming animal in his hands, "Wow! You are a really big one, aren't you?" He asked as he lifted the beast up a little higher to get a good look at him, his purple eyes sparkling with delight. After a moment though his eyes went from focusing on the frog to focusing passed it, his eyes locking on someone near to his age with bright pink hair, the little creature at her feet, and then there in the water he noticed something big and scary... a monster of some sort! A squack of surprise escaped from his lips and his wings popped open behind him, flapping like mad. He should run his mind told him, telling him how lucky he was at the moment for having seen the large beast. If it wasn't for the bright colors of it he might have missed it, something that would have caused him to get eaten for sure!
Of course while he was safe, to a degree who knew how fast the thing could move, what about the girl? What if the river beast ate her?! Should he try to save her? He wasn't really a warrior or anything, he was just a boy with a frog but he couldn't very well leave her alone, could he? Looking down at the frog for a moment, as though the creature would give him him all the answers, it just starred back at him. After a moment he let it down then hurried forward, grabbing up a stick as he went, "Hey! Girl! You have to watch out! There is a monster in the river!" He cried out, hoping that she would hear him and move away from the water's edge before the beast was able to make a meal of her.

It isn't Aquon or his Drakein. Uassae's head rose above the water to regard the hybrid quizzically. His wings expanding out from his sides as the small Hybrid's wings appeared. They had scared him, no other horned being had wings like Erionda's!
Violet eyes settled on the small figure in the distance. Regarding it with little interest before flicking back and forth between the boy and the Drakein. From her position and distance, Erionda couldn't see the horns on his head. Quickly spotting the wings as they appeared. Full brilliant colored wings. A pang of jealousy rushed through her chest. Her wings were not that brilliant at all. They were slender and far to small to carry her. That didn't even come close to the subject that they were on her hips not her shoulders, and they had feathers. Suddenly feeling ashamed for her Orderite blood Erionda took a step back.
Her timing had fallen to closely into place as Uassae's blue eyes fell on the stick the boy had picked up. Then to Erionda who had taken a step back. She hadn't sent panic over their bond, but he couldn't take that chance. Not if he had anything to do with it. The strange boy would not get close enough to her to cause any harm. Leaping out of the water with his wings wide, Uassae began to chase down the young hybrid. His nostrils flaring in warning as he closed the distance between them.
Spreading his wings he jumped overhead, landing between Erionda and Junjie. The Drakeins nostrils flared as he exhaled. He was positioned facing the water with each hybrid on either side of his body. His large tail curling back towards Erionda protectively.
Erionda blinked at the quick movements of her large Drakein. Stunned before she was able to absorb the information her eyes had gathered. Horns? on a feathery winged boy? "Wait Uassae!" Erionda shouted out loud.

His moment of being heroic was disrupted nearly instantly as the big 'river monster' launched itself forth from the water and came at him, something that caused a cried of shock to come from his lips. Junjie scrambled have a couple step, stumbled, and landed hard on his backside, "Ow..." He squeaked out, scrambling back a little bit when he heard the girl calling out to the monster by name and telling him stop. That was beyond startling to him, the creature... it was hers?! He would have been impressed and more then curious if it wasn't for the fact that the thing was likely going to eat him.
He scrambled back a few steps, his stick forgotten, instead struggling to get himself to his feet. Well now that was a terrible idea, wasn't it? He'd thought that the girl was going to be eaten by the river monster but instead it seemed that she was some sort of monster tamer. A shame that he didn't know that before now... and more of a shame that he had slipped out of the house a voice in the back of his mind whispered. Wings fluttering quite rapidly as though trying to help him him to his steady himself he held his hands up in front of himself in a defensive manner, "I-I'm sorry! I-I thought you were trying to eat her!" He exclaimed, hoping that he would be able to appease the beast's ruffled feathers, so to speak since it didn't appear as though the large creature had any.
Taking few more steps backwards he kept his hands up in front of himself, his whole body shaking, his wings lifting up, opening wide, as though attempting to make himself look bigger. Even spread to their full wingspan though he was quite minute compared to the brightly colored creature, "M-Maybe... Maybe I should go back to c-chasing frogs?" He suggested, hoping that if he didn't get any closer to the pink haired girl that the brightly colored beast might let him go free without a bite wound or two.

Uassae lowered his head, his lips lifting up protectively as his blue eyes focused on the boy. Giving a soft moan, his eyes lolling closed as Erionda quickly wrapped her arms around the lowered head. Her pale violet eyes focused on the boy before her. How was it possible that she would com across a strange boy who resembled two different races. Just like her? No, his wings were bigger than her's. Did that mean he would have more orderite in him, that had to be it. That was the only conclusion she could figure. Her eyes scanned him up and down.
Eat you? Uassae chuckled across the bond. Pressing his muzzle gently into Erionda's Chest. I would eat him before you came to arm.
Rio gave the larger Drakein a slight tug on his whisker, gaining a slight growl from the beast. "He was only trying to protect me. Being what I am isn't welcome around most. But." Rio paused letting go of Uassae and shifting her body to face the new boy squarely. A slight breeze shifting her hair into her face. With a smooth shift of her fingers Rio gracefully pushed the loose strands of hair behind her ear and holding them close to her head to keep them from flying back into her face.
"Are you a Hybrid? Like me?" Rio asked a friendly curiosity drizzling her voice.

Junjie went from worrying over being eaten by an offended river beast to looking at the girl that he was protecting as she spoke to him, talking about how the big creature was only trying to protect, that being what she was wasn't a welcome thing around most. He tilted his head a moment, spotting all of the various features that seemed to point to her being what he was, a hybrid. It was strange, this was the first time that he had ever see someone that was like him, someone of mixed blood. Up until now it was just his Dovaa mother and the Orderites from their small village that came to his mother for healing. That he was actually able to see another one, it was so strange but at the same time amazing!
When the young, pink haired girl asked him if he was a Hybrid like her he turned slightly to the side, looking at one of his fluttering wings which was a rather large banner that seemed to announce what he was, and he flushed a little, tucking the wings behind his back, "Ah! Ooops... yeah." He said, lifting a hand to tug at one of the little braids that his mother had put in his hair, "My Mom is always telling me to hide those but when I get too excited they kinda... popped up..." He said, embarrassed by the fact that he had given himself away so quickly. He really did need to try to get that problem under control but for the time being his wings rarely seemed to obey him.
Take a few steps closer to the girl, getting quick close now, he couldn't help but admire her, "Wow! You are so pretty colored!" He said, finding himself a little envious. She had bright pink hair, purple horns, and, "Oh look! You have purple eyes too!" He said, sounding quite amazed and excited at the find, to think that the first hybrid he'd ever meet would have the same eye color as him. How wonderful!

Uassae moved behind Erionda, keeping check to keep his blue eyes focused on the boy. Grateful for a block in the wind Rio blinked. So he too was told to keep things hidden? Erionda was grateful the feathery wings refused to sprout, and when they did they were much to small for the Dovaa she lived with to take notice. The only really obvious part to her Hybrid nature blazed around her. Long pink strands of hair. Even then Erionda wondered just how many Dovaa took notice. She had seen another Dovaa walking around with bright florescent pink hair. Far flashier than her own, not to mention he was a pure Dovaa!
Rio brought her other hand up protectively to her hair. She loved the soft long strands. She had been told several times to cut it, and every time someone had attempted to approach her with a sharp object intent on cutting her hair. Erionda had reacted with a release of bottled rage. Since then she had yet to forgive those individuals. Now that Uassae was here she had an easier time avoiding the conversation. The large Drakein was fierce when he came to her defense.
At the sudden closing of proximity between Junjie and Erionda, the young Hybrid took a step back uncertainly. People never came this close to her, it was like she was a viper. Turning her head awkwardly to glance back at Uassae as a warning growl ripped forth. "T-thank you." At the mention of her eyes Erionda found herself glancing nervously back at him out of the corner of her eyes. Refraining from turning her head back towards the boy.
"I'm Erionda." The small girl offered casually. Her eyes moving away from him at the sound of Lanzecki's small creel. "That was Lanzecki, my baby Ayrala Keinling. And this is Uassae. He's an Aeduan Drakien." Rio smiled pushing her hand up to scratch under the large beasts muzzle.

If Junjie noticed the manner in which the pink haired girl moved to put distance between them he didn't comment on it. If anything he was likely to think of her as shy if anything, "Your welcome." He answered her words of thanks instantly, watching as she seemed to be looking up at the big beast that was giving him another growl. It seemed that the big guy really didn't like him, did he? He supposed that the stick was to blame. One never made a good impression if it involved swinging a stick at someone he thought to himself, deciding that he would do his best in the future to avoid doing such things completely... well, unless the need for a stick arose, there were still dangerous things out there that wouldn't turn out to be friends with small girls.
When the girl introduced herself he gave a happy sounds, wings aflutter, "My name is Junjie!" He said, more then happy to introduce himself now that she had done the same. As she introduced Lanzecki and Uassae he gave a curious sound in his throat, "Hmmm... Ayrala Keinling and Aeduan Drakien." Not words that he'd really heard before but it was always interesting to learn new things he thought to himself as he took a step closer to the smaller one of the two, finding that one far less intimidating then the big one with the whiskers. Squatting down in front of Lanzecki he said, "They are really, really neat! I've never seen anything like them before." As though that weren't already obvious given that he had been convinced that the one call Uassae was out to eat Erionda. At least now that he knew the truth he might be able to make up for it, right?
Give how important first impressions were though he might very well have dug himself a hole too deep to get out of when it came to Uassae. So long as he still had a chance to attempt to make friends with Erionda then he was happy.

Rio relaxed her posture slightly as Junjie introduced himself. "Yes, new species I think. Though the black market hunters seems to be doing their best to gather these creatures up. Uassae and Lanzecki both came to me as eggs from ambushed raid parties. Well, I kinda stole Lanzecki from a collector really." Her face contorted into pain at the memories of the horrible situations the eggs and tiny Keinlings had been in. "I couldn't bear to know that the next one to hatch would end up like the others, so I tried to save it. By the time I had rescued the egg Lanzecki had hatched and bonded to me. I didn't have the chance to find him a partner." Erionda ended with a sheepish look on her face.
"Not that I mind." She added. "But I've learned my lesson. Drakein don't like to see their kind bonded to me. I don't know why since Uassae and Lanzecki seem really happy with me." Realizing she had been talking to much Rio closed her mouth. Twisting her lips to the side. She had grown up seeing the strange creatures. Aquon the dovaa who looked after her training had four that she could name off the top of her head. But they all seemed like nasty creatures.
Lanzecki creeled again as he stretched his neck out to sniff at Junjie's hand. The image of food floated into Erionda's mind. The young Hybrids eyes grew as she swooped down to pick up the Keinling as best she could. "Not food." Erionda insisted firmly. Trying to wiggle her arm so her hand was placed on the dark Keinlings snout. "See, just like my hand. It's not food."
Uassae chuckled outwardly, his whiskers floating as he did so. "He must be hungry already." It was rare for the large creature to speak outside of the bond he shared with Erionda but at the same time, it was his way of acknowledging Lanzecki was also part of the small family.
"Sorry Junjie." Erionda apologized with a slight bow. Placing the Keinling back on the ground. "He's only just hatched. I haven't been able to teach him what is and isn't food yet. He knows I'm not because of the bond. Anything else if he can smell a pulse is food for some reason." She gave the Keinling an odd look.

"A new species... I see." He murmured, starring at Lanzecki. He didn't know much about them and not nearly enough to know what a new species was and what an old one was, maybe something more akin to the whiskered beast? He looked between the two for a moment as though comparing them before he looked back to Erionda as she told him about the conditions she'd found the egg under and he couldn't help but to wrinkle his nose at the thought, "That sounds terrible... it was good of you to save him." He said, glad that she had been able to at least help this little one away from the collector though he still felt bad for the others that he was sure were still stuck in such conditions. Some people really were just as bad as his mother had made them out to be, weren't they? Still there were nice ones it seemed since the girl had helped this baby, right?
When she mentioned how Drakein didn't like to see others of their kind bonded he found himself wondering why that might be, especially when she said that these two seemed really happy with her. That was an odd question but he could offer no answers since he knew too little to be able to even fathom a guess. Turning back to Lanzecki he gave a bit of a smile when the little one started to sniff at his hand, curious if maybe he'd be able to pet the pretty Keinling when suddenly Erionda was scooping him up and pulling him away, seeming to be explaining that Junjie wasn't food...? Pushing up to his feet he starred for a moment before giving a bit of a chuckle, "Yeah... I am sure I wouldn't really taste all that good." He told the little one.
The bigger, whiskered Aeduan commented on how Lanzecki must be hungry already and then Erionda followed by saying that he had only just hatched and she was still teaching him what was and wasn't food, "Ohhh... I see." He murmured, then glanced toward the river, "Does he eat fish? I have seen a lot of them in the small stream over there." He suggested, not sure if Keinling at fish or not, "Is that something they like? Or do they eat bigger, meatier things? Maybe eggs?" So much to learn from Erionda and her two friends he thought to himself. Not that he had a Keinling or Drakein himself, but that was no reason not to learn about them.

Erionda tilted her head at Junjie's questions. Furrowing her brows as Lanzecki insisted on wiggling free of her grip. She had run into many questions about the Drakein since Uassae had first hatched and bonded to her. Those questions had felt more intrusive than his. Always wanting to know where they could find eggs, how the bond worked, did they do everything they were told? Erionda had spent many nights grinding her teeth. Annoyed that the Dovaa around her had those thoughts. Drakein should be respected as a friend or family, not used and abused for whatever gain they had in mind.
Releasing the smaller Keinling from her grasp Erionda smiled up at Junjie. "Good question. I think each Drakein is different on what they like to eat. Just like I don't like the same things that my neighbor would like. Uassae for example doesn't like fish, but eats other larger prey. I used to feed him raw meat when he was small. That's what I had been taught, and over time he just gave into wanting to find his own food. Something about the feel of the kill and the fresh blood." Rio patted Uassae's side.
"As for Lanzecki, well, I don't think he's solidified what he likes yet. He just gets a little bit of everything I am sure in time he will tell me what he likes. Or doesn't."
Uassae grunted and moved towards the water. Lowering his muzzle down to lap at the liquid. "These two even like plants and berries!" A soft cooing sound from Lanzecki brought Erionda down to her knees as she started petting the smaller creatures hide.
"I'm sorry Lanzecki, I forgot about your grooming." Turning back to Junjie, Erionda smiled. "We came out here to help relieve the pains he's feeling in his hide. Probably growing pains."

Junjie seemed to be listening quite closely to what the girl was saying, nodding from time to time, then gave a smile, "I see... well, that makes sense. I know that there are things that my mother likes to eat that I don't really like." It made sense that the Drakein would be the same, that they would have their own idea of what did and didn't taste good, and it would appear as though Uassae didn't care for fish. She added that he used to eta raw meat when he was small and how he now found his own food. So she only had to feed them when they were little then they grew to being able to find their own meals? That was quite impressive, "It's cool that he took over feeding himself. I bet it's a good way for him to find all of his favorite things, huh?" He said, glancing over at Uassae for a moment.
His attention went from the big male to the smaller one when Erionda said that Lanzecki hadn't really decided what it was that he liked quite yet. He was still little so it made sense, he probably wasn't really able to eat a big enough variety of things for him to really make a decision one way or the other, "I see... well, if you need help with finding food for him I will help." He offered, then smiled at the mention of 'plants and berries' looking in the direction he'd come from, "There are some really sweet berries growing at our place... though I am not sure what my Mom would think if we all went there to get some." He mused, if she looked outside and saw Uassae she might have a fit...
Shaking his head to clear that worry he listened to what Erionda was saying about forgetting Lanzecki's grooming, "Ohhh... how do you groom them?" He asked in a curious manner. You could groom something that didn't have hair? Huh... that was kinda neat, though how one went about it, that was the question, "Awww... growing pains? Poor thing... I know how this can be so I feel his pain." He said, making a little face. There was nothing worse then that ache though his wasn't really in his 'hide' per say.

Erionda moved Lanzecki towards the water. Pleased to find he didn't resist the cold liquid as it swirled around the reptilians claws. He seemed to be more interested in the reflections bobbing about in the water. Tilting his head from side to side with a chirp, Lanzecki turned his head to glance up at Rio through one of his eyes. Rio gave the small Keinling a bright smile as she dipped her hands in the water and began sprinkling the water over the Ayrala's back and wings.
"W-well I'm not really sure if grooming them is something that HAS to be done." Erionda began. "But I learned with Uassae it helps relieve his pain and keeps the wing membranes smooth as they grow. His right wing as a little ripple in it because I wasn't on top of soaking the membranes."
A swirl of wind around the water signaled Uassae's flight into the air. Waiting to see Lanzecki's reaction to the water, which was positive. Reaching out she pulled on of the wings open and handed the very edge to Jun. "Here I'll show you." Lanzecki watched Junjie skeptically but remained calm.
