After spending most of the morning pleading with his mother to allow him to have some free time outside of the yard Junjie was finally able to get her to allow him to go to the forest that was just South of where their home was located. So far it seemed that so long as he didn't go anywhere that was heavily populated without her that it was more likely that she would say yes. The fact that nothing had gone wrong while he was out running the errands for Mister Arick had gotten her to ease off just a little bit when it came to keeping him at her side all day everyday. There were still a lot of places that he wasn't allowed to go, such as the village that they lived near, as well as the big city up North without her, he could leave the house which was great by him.

Dragging his cloak around himself as he rushed out out of the house the boy was a few steps from the house before he whirled around, went back, and called inside, "I will be back later, Mom!" He called into the door before remembering to close it this time. He gave a grin before before he hurried off once more, out of the yard, and into the forest in excitement. He'd gotten to inspect the edges of it before with his mother a few times while searching for mushrooms and herbs. Now though he would get to see what was to be found in there, hoping that he might find more interesting animals to chase after and hopefully catch. While he knew full well that he wasn't allowed to bring them home, amphibians especially, but it didn't mean he couldn't chase after them for fun.

He wasn't too far in when he spotted the first interesting critter, a rather big, fat, feathered creature that he'd never seen before and instantly the boy was giggling and chasing after the flightless creature, hands stretched out in front of him as he ran.

It was a quiet day, one that Esmeralda was out to enjoy even if she had brought her satchel with her just in case she found something interesting to document. Around noon she’d decided to relax and climb up a tree with a thick enough branches for her to lay her back on and just stare up at the sky. She soon found one and climbed up, hanging her satchel and belt on another branch so she could feel the rustle of the wind on this warm day. Hopefully soon her new cloak would come in and she’d be able to get into the colder regions, she was after a very specific type of dragons and she was spending much money on dressing warmly to find them.

The peaceful silence lasted a while, but the laughter of a child made Esmeralda open her eyes and roll onto her stomach to look around. An Orderite child maybe? Blue eyes scanned the greenery until they found their target coming towards her chasing after a creature. She was quite sure the child wasn’t an Orderite though; she could see those horns protruding from atop his head and the scales. Another Hybrid… Esmeralda’s expression changed, she was meeting a whole lot more than usual right now, or maybe she was just attracting them for whatever reason. He was Dovaa, though maybe she could spark up a small conversation with him.

When he got closer, Esmeralda moved down a couple of branches so he could spot her and so she could easily talk to him while staying up in her tree. She found one she could dangle her feet on either side of, and bent down slightly to lean on her forearms. “Hey little one!” Esmeralda raised her voice so he could see her, hopefully that would get his attention and he could stop and chit chat with her for a bit.

Junjie quickened his pace reaching out after the big, fat, bird like creature, and was just about to snatch it up when a voice called out to him. It was something unexpected that nearly caused him to trip over his feet in surprise though he was able to recover, barely, and kept from doing so. Looking curiously from side to side he found himself a little confused when he saw nobody. Was someone here and playing a trick on him or was he just hearing things? He was about to continue on his walk in hopes of finding the bird again when a leaf landed on his head between his mismatched horns. Lifting a hand he plucked it from where it landed, inspected it a moment, then looked upwards, finding the one that had called out to him at long last.

Turning around before taking a couple of steps back Junjie smiled up at the young woman who was perched up there, "Wow!" He murmured, finding that to be quite amazing, both that she was up then tree and that he had almost completely missed the fact that she was up there. Were it not for that leaf he might very well have just kept going without ever knowing that she was up there he realized before he lifted his hand to wave at her, "Good afternoon!" He greeted the perching woman, finding it quite an interesting sight to behold, never having seen another person up a tree before. It kind of looked like fun, something he would need to try to do at some point.

"Whatca doing up there?" He asked curiously, wondering if she was searching for various critters too? Maybe... he was sure that they must live up in the trees too since they seemed to be found virtually everywhere from what he had see so far in his little adventures outside the house.

Esmeralda peered down at the Hybrid curiously; she offered him a smile and a small wave of her hand when he finally noticed her. “I was just taking a bit of a break from my work.” He looked quite young and so full of life; it was nice to see it within the younger generations. He the looks of him, he was quite obviously Dovaa and Orderite. “Do you live nearby?” How much did he know, she wondered and how much would he tell her if she asked the right kind of questions.

"Ohhh." Junjie murmured when the dark haired Dovaa said that she was taking a bit of a break from work. He seemed to be thinking on it for a moment before asking, "What sort of work do you do?" He was curious, this was only the second time he'd talked with a Dovaa that wasn't his mother so he was curious to see what this one did for work. His mother was a healer, Mister Arick seemed to run his own shop, and this one... what did she do? He couldn't help but to bounce in place on the balls of his feet as he wanted for her to answer. What sort of job brought someone up into a tree? Or was that just a place that she liked to rest? Was climbing trees fun? It kinda looked it.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. I live near here." He said, not saying exactly where since he didn't know if his mother would like it very much if he went around telling every stranger where it was that he lived. Best to just say 'near here' since that was a safe enough answer he thought to himself before echoing her question, "Do you live around here too? Or are you here for work?" He asked, his tone ever curious as he waited for the answers to his current questions before he started to ask more of them.

Esmeralda blinked a few times, it didn’t seem like this Hybrid knew of its origins, and he was speaking with her so freely it was quite the difference with Tyrok. “Hmm, I study dragons. I’m a scholar.” This one seemed so young and untouched by the war; it made Esme smile a little at him. Though, it also made her wonder if he’d ever come upon dragons and he was a recluse banish. At least Tyrok had known certain things, and had a much colder appearance than this one. Maybe it was his Orderite side, gave him this more childlike exterior.

His next words to her asking where she lived only confirmed her previous suspicions, this was an untouched and unmarked Hybrid that probably didn’t even know he was banished to begin with. Sighing softly, Esmeralda pushed herself up and off her branch climbing down a few of them before jumping down to the ground below. “No I don’t live around here, I live I the celestial plane. Do you know where that is?” She didn’t have to tell him that only pure Dovaa were allowed there and tell him he was banished from such a place, she liked his innocence and wanted to keep it that way.

"Ohhh, a dragon studying scholar? That sounds like it must be a neat job." He said, sounding as though he were quite interested with the idea of what she did for work. He wondered how one went about studying dragons, reading books about them? Or did she actually go and find the dragons to study them that way? It sounded pretty exciting if what she did was the latter he thought to himself, bouncing in place at the thought, "Have you seen lots of dragons? Mom told me that there are lots of different sorts out there. OH! Have you see the Celestial Dragon? Mom says that it's really rare, I want to see it someday!" He said, happily chattering one about what very little about dragons he knew, only what he'd learned from to this point from his Mom. Mostly stuff that was in the form of bed time stories but he was sure that some of the information must be true.

When the woman jumped down off her perch he took a step closer to her, starring up at her a moment then gave a smile, "Oooo, you have pretty blue in your hair." He chirped, then gave a smile, "Your horns are really neat looking too! Heh, they match on both sides unlike mine." He said, lifting a hand to poke at his smaller horn. At the mention of the 'Celestial Plane' he tilted his head to one side, looking curious about what that might be, "No... I am not sure where that is. I have only ever been around in Serenia and then..." He looked from side to side then whispered, "Then to Souldul once cause Mister Arick asked me to go." He obviously didn't want anyone else but her to hear that he'd visited that place once. He didn't want his mother finding it since it was a bit far to go for an errand.

Giving a smile he asked, "Where is the Celestial Plane? What's it like? Did you study dragons there too?" Since he'd never heard of place he couldn't help but to be curious about what it might be like and since she came from there she must be able to tell him all about it, right?

Esmeralda couldn’t help herself; she burst out laughing at his comment about her studies being neat. It was certainly a first, no one thought studying dragons was interesting, they only thought they were meat to die and give up their precious orbs. Esme liked that untouched side of him, she felt like that was how the world ought to be. “I’ve seen a few” she admitted. “Lots of them indeed, you have the Ysali, Ayrala, Kiandri, Firani, my favourite and of course my clan the Peisio, Aiskala, Gaili, Aedaun, Diabi, and the ever so rare Celestial. There are also the Drakein, but they’re a whole different race to themselves.”

As soon as the comments were out of his mouth, Esmeralda was blushing like a mad woman. Oh my, she’d never received such compliments; she ran a hand through her hair nervously. “Thank you. Your horns are quite pretty too.” It wasn’t the usual kind of comment she got, even from the Dovaa or anyone else for that matter. The name Arick ringed a bell, but she couldn’t remember from where. “Souldul is a nasty place to go to.” How ahd he even made it back alive at his age? Orderite Dovaa Hybrid in Souldul… She couldn’t even image it.

Esme gave another chuckle. “Well, the Celestial plane is where all the Dovaa live. You have the celestial fortress which is like a regular stronghold type of place and where Marcus leader of the Dovaa is. Then Astral city, that’s where all the markets are, then you have the dwelling place where everyone lives. And you get there by going through the celestial vortex which is in the middle of an ocean.” She didn’t really want to tell him that anyone who was not Dovaa wasn’t allowed in, she felt it wasn’t her place to broach the subject on his banishment.

Junjie perked up some, eyes going quite wide, as she told him about how she'd seen a few dragons. As she started to list off those that she knew he seemed to get that much more excited about it. There were that many of them? Wow! At the mention of her favorite and her clan being the Peisio he found that much more curious about that particular sort, "What are the Peisio like?" He asked, then at the mentioned the Drakein he nodded rapidly, "I met someone that had two Drakein! One was a Ysali and the other was an Ayrala." He told her, having rather enjoyed meeting the Drakein himself, "Drakein are quite amazing." He'd like to meet more someday.

As his compliments caused Esmeralda to go a rather bright color of red he tilted his head to the side, curious as to why she was blushing so much when he'd only told the truth. Giving a little smile when she complimented his horns he gave a bright smile, "Thank you!" He said, finding it rather kind of her to say that even though he knew that his horns were a little odd in how they didn't match up. It was something that his mother attributed to his mixed blood. When the woman said that Souldul was a 'nasty place' to go he tilted his head to one side, looking a little confused by that, "It is? I do agree that it's pretty dark there and the thing that I was looking for, I am guessing it came from something scary, but it was a neat place. I wish I could have stayed longer but I get the feeling I probably would have stood out a bit."

The topic changed from Souldul to the Celestial Plane and he listened closely, seeming as though he didn't want to miss even a single detail. It all sounded really interesting, that it had a fortress where the Dovaa leader lived. His name was Marcus? That was neat! "What is Marcus like?" He asked before he found himself wondering about the Astral City, curious what their markets were like, not to mention the dwelling places. Ther look of so many Dovaa together, he couldn't imagine since he'd only ever seen two of them before now, this woman being the third one that he'd met.

"Ohhh, wow... that must be something to see, huh? To see so many Dovaa gathered in one place. It must be amazing! I went to a big city here in Serenia once with my mother to get herbs and the people there were like a walking rainbow, their hair was so bright and pretty! Ooooh, and their wings! I kinda wish mine were like that but they are just brown." He said, looking over his shoulder at where his wings would be if they were out at the moment before he looked over at the pretty Dovaa woman and asked in a curious manner, "How did you get the blue in your hair?" Was it dye perhaps? He'd seen some of his mother herbs and berries stain her skin before or was it something else?

It was an odd experience for Esmeralda to meet someone who seemed to know so little about the outside world, just his expression on his face when she spoke about dragons was the big give away. It made her wonder how he grew up; would he too go out and hunt dragons? Maybe she could inform him, either way it was nice to meet someone outside of her instructors who was interested to know things about dragons. “They are the water dragons, it’s said they’re the ones who helped create the huge vortex. Usually people pick them because of their healing abilities, but they can also do quite the damage.

“Wow they owned two? I’m quite surprised.” Grrel would have had a field day with whomever this person was, Esme was curious as to how many bonded one could have. She felt having more than one would be quite dangerous in the hands of certain people… “ Drakein are… Interesting to say the least.” The only one she’d met hadn’t exactly been overly amazing and was mostly full of hate for every other being that was bonded. “I’d like to meet another Drakein one day maybe, just so I can see if they’re all like the first one I’ve met.

“Let’s just say I don’t go out of my way to go to Souldul.” Heck, if she could avoid it all together she certainly would.

“Well, I don’t know him very well; I’m a scholar after all and not a fighter so I don’t really need to speak to him often to report back on things.” Esmeralda didn’t know much about him. “I know he’s in the same clan as me, he won eternal life from Abronaxus himself a long, long time ago. Hm, he’s pretty neutral on the whole war thing between the races. He just wants a better future for all of Magesc, I approve on all basis with him. So I try to be neutral with as many people as I meet.” Granted it was hard at times to hold such a stance, but it was needed.

“Hey, at least you have wings. I’m older and I won’t have them for a little while from now.” Esmeralda tried to make him feel better; obviously his appearance seemed to be a touchy subject. Esme felt sorry for him, he seemed so nice. “My blue streaks?” Her hands went up to touch her braids gently. “Well once you pick a clan, I’m sure you’ll need to do this too at some point. Well your appearance changes with your clan, my eyes used to be purple and my scales were white. “ Esme paused. “I’m Esmeralda by the way.” She stuck out her hand.

"Dragons that can creature a huge vortex... wow..." Junjie breathed, finding such a thing to be quite fascinating if a bit intimidating at the same time. He was pretty sure that he didn't want to meet one of them if they were able to do something of that manner. When she continued on, talking about how they were usually picked because of their healing abilities he gave a nod of hsi head, finding that quite interesting in and of itself, then to find out that they could do damage as well. That did make them seem to be a good choice though he'd yet to really decide himself about something like that. In fact to this point it wasn't even something that crossed his mind but now that he'd spoken with this Dovaa woman he didn't find himself considering things such as a possible clan for himself. It was something he'd need to think on.

"They are very interesting... though the big one, Uassae his name was, he didn't much like me." He murmured, then lifted a hand to scratch it against the back of his head, "I kinda thought he was a river monster at first and that he was going to eat the girl he was with so I... ahh... I kinda waved a stick at him." He wasn't really all that surprised that Uassae didn't like him. It was understandable given the way that Junjie had 'greeted' him when they first met. No matter, he had time to make it up to him or so he hoped, "I hope to meet more of them." He said befor easking, "Do you know if there are as many kinds of Drakein as there are Dragons? Oh! Are there Celestial Drakein? That would be neat!" He chirped happily.

He went quiet for a moment as he listened to what Marcus was like, how he and the Dovaa woman were of the same clan, that he won eternal life from Abronaxus, and he went quite wide eyed, "Wow... he sounds amazing." He murmured, "I wonder if I could meet him one day... or even just see him. That would be neat!" Not that he felt it was something that was likely to have, he wasn't a full Dovaa and people seemed to dislike those with mixed blood for reasons he didn't understand. As such he doubted some immortal leader would want anything to do with him but it was something he could dream about, just as he dreamed about one day seeing the Celestial dragon.

"Oooo, you're going to get wings too? That's amazing! What do you think they will look like?" He asked in a curious manner, then got that much more wide eyed when she mentioned how she had gotten her streaks, that the choosing of her clan had caused her appearance to change. Her hair, her eyes, and even her scales, "Choosing a clan does that much? Wow..." He would need to be careful when it came to choosing his clan he told himself before he looked at the hand that was stuck out toward him. Giving a happy sound he took her hand in his, giving it a shake, "My name is Junjie!"

Esmeralda laughed, indeed the Peisio were amazing creatures, and there was no doubt as to why they were her favorite! “Yup, they are beautiful. I heard that the celestial dragon are so quite amazing, granted I’m not sure were those stories come from because those are pretty rare.” Finding one to study was her ultimate dream, if she could accomplish that in her lifetime than she would die forever fulfilled and happy. Alas, she still didn’t have the knowledge to find one, heck if she couldn’t find a Diabi dragon; her chances of finding a celestial were nonexistent!

“A river monster?” Esmeralda burst out laughing at his story, wow. This kid was awesome. “I met one called Grrel, we did this question game after we get into an argument,” she sighed softly. “I don’t think she liked me very much too.” His next question made her think, she doubted it, but you never knew what was out there. “I’m not sure,” was her first answer. “I mean, there are celestial dragons so why not Drakein too?” One of those would also be interesting to meet, Esmeralda thought. She mentally added it to her growing research list; hopefully no other dragon species would be popping up soon because she already had her hands full with what she had.

Oh boy, Esme’s heart constricted when he spoke about Marcus. She didn’t want to tell him that he wasn’t allowed to enter, not without having proven himself first. No, she refused to tell him, unlike with Tyrok whom she’d gotten into an argument with; this Hybrid seemed so peaceful and calm. “He is amazing,” she chuckled lightly. “He’s a hard man to meet, very busy.” That’s all she was going to say for that. “I’m sure if you did something really amazing he’d want to meet you.” She didn’t want to push him into danger, but at least this would give him hope.

“Yup! When I’m older of course, I’m getting there slowly but surely!” Oh yes, she was going to revel in having wings. “I’m unsure how they’ll look, I assume dragon wings maybe? Maybe Peisio wings? Now that would be amazing.” And something she was secretly wishing for of course! She hadn’t really looked at what other wings looked like, she knew her parents were different, but neither were Peisio. Esmeralda was going to have to look into that at some point.

“Let’s take a seat Junjie, my legs are getting tired.” She went to sit by the bottom of the tree, leaning her back against it as she stretched out her legs in front of her and laid her hands on her lap. “So have clan closings been explained to you? Do you know which clan you’ll be joining?” Esmeralda briefly wondered if anyone had even explained any of this to him, well if he didn’t know, now was the time to ask her all about it! Unless he just chose the same class as his Dovaa parent like Tyrok.

Junjie was actually a little relieved to hear that Esmeralda had met up with a Drakein that didn't seem to like her much, mostly because it meant that he wasn't the only one, "Grrel, that an interesting name." He mused, finding it funny that the name sounded a bit like a growling sound. He wondered if that was done on purpose, if the Drakein's parent or bonded had given her a growly sounding name. When the Dovaa woman said that she wasn't sure if there were Celestial Drakein he gave a little nod, "Ohh... well, if I see one I will let you know." At least it he were able to stumble across her again that was. It made him wonder for a moment if he did find her again what the odds were that she would be up another tree. He supposed that only time would tell on that one.

As Esmeralda cautioned him that Marcus was a hard man to meet with due to being busy, suggesting that he 'do something amazing' he gave a nod of his head, "Alright, I will have to see about doing something amazing! Though... I guess I will need to think on it and try to figure out what amazing thing I can do." He said, giving a bit of a chuckle. He hadn't quite done anything that was considered amazing, not yet at least, and he was certain that it would take some time to figure out something amazing enough to that he would be able to meet with someone as important sounding as Marcus. It was another good goal to have though. Another goal that would likely give his poor mother a heart attack so best that he kept the goal to himself for the time being.

"Wow! Dragon wings! That would be neat." Junjie chirped happily, wondering what that might look like. Even with her saying that they would maybe look like Peisio wings sort of left him drawing a blank since he'd never seen one of those before. All he knew for certain was that, if they looked like Peisio wings, that surely they would be blue, right? Giving a smile he moved to settled down next to her, sitting cross legged as he turned to look at her. Her questions caused him a moment of thoughtful silence before he shook his head, "I'm not sure exactly. There are so many dragons that I should probably try to learn more about them before I pick though." He mused, wondering what sort he should decide upon. There was still so much that he didn't know, so much he would need to ask his mother about, "Maybe I should ask mom about that soon." He mused, though not until he had a better idea about what clan he wanted to be a part of.
PostPosted: Thu May 09, 2013 12:01 pm

“I thought so too.” Esmeralda mused, but she hadn’t met other Drakein so maybe they all had interesting names? Who knew, there was still a lot to learn from them yet. “Thanks, that’s awfully kind of you.” Esmeralda still couldn’t get over how nice he was; she really really hoped that the war wouldn’t harden him. However, she knew that it would be inevitable that at some point, if she met him again the tendrils would have affected him. “Granted if there are celestial Drakein out there, then they’re probably just as secretive as the dragon itself.” Chances were, both of them probably wouldn’t see one.

Esmeralda chuckled lightly at his enthusiasm. “You’re still young, take it easy. Trust me, if there’s one thing I learned about growing up is that things just get more and more complicated over time. Enjoy your freedom of living as you wish while you still have it.” Oh lord, she was starting to sound like her mother! But it was so true, now that she’d graduated to another level; work had taken up all her time. She didn’t frolic with boys like the others girls did, nor did she go out with friends simply to have fun.

“Well,” she said quietly, wondering if what she was about to say might be illegal somehow. “Dragons, well studying dragons is you know, sort of my thing. If you ever need help, I can get you books and tell you what I know about them. I could always take you on an excursion, I’m sure you’d learn lots! All you’d really need to do was send a letter to the scholar college with my name and I’m pretty sure it would make it to me.” Maybe his Dovaa parent could return and get him books too, but at least the offer was on the table for him to take or leave.

Junjie gave a smile when she thanked him, not seeing as too big a deal. They both wanted to see such a thing after all so why wouldn't he tell her about it were he to meet up with her again after doing so after all. When she mentioned that if there were Celestial Drakein that they would be as secretive as the dragon was he gave a nod, "Yeah... you are probably right." It meant that the odds of either of them getting to see a Celestial of any sort of pretty low, that didn't meant that they weren't allowed to dream about it though. Maybe being so lucky as to meet with a Celestial would be a part of his 'something amazing', a thought that he found that he rather liked the sound of.

When the pretty Dovaa told him that he should take it easy, that something she learned about growing up was that things got more complicated over time he nodded. It was a good lesson to take to heart but the part about enjoying his freedom had him opening his mouth, for a moment about to say that he didn't exactly have a ton of freedom given how strict his mother was but he closed his mouth before saying that. No, his mother was allowing him to go on walks on his own now, not often but from time to time, so that was a little better then it used to be. His theory on it being that she would prefer to know when he was going out as opposed to have him sneaking out when she wasn't looking. Giving a smile he said, "I try to enjoy it best I can when I am out and about." From time to time he did envy those of pure blood, it seemed as though they had more in the way of freedom, not something he'd complain about to his new friend though.

Her offer of helping him out, getting him books, telling him about what she knew about dragons, it was quite exciting! He was quickly nodding his head when she offered to take him out on an excursion to learn from her, "That would be neat! I would love to go with you sometime!" He said, giving a happy flutter of his wings. Surely his mother wouldn't mind since Esmeralda was a Dovaa, just like his mother was. She was a scholar and someone that Junjie could learn from, the sort that he was sure his mother would like him to hang out around, "I will make sure to write to you." He said in a happy, excited tone, looking forward to a possible future adventure with her, certain that it would be a lot of fun.
