Kioda met her first two legged creature, she doens't know what to make of him. But the Keindred she did meet was interesting. If not very playful while she was there. Maybe another time?

Learning Solo 1 - Finding my Magic

Her claws clattered against the rock and gripped, allowing her wings to fall back to her sides. Silencing the screams of pain coming from her muscles. She shook her head dislodging sweat from her eyes and panted, she was exhausted already. Pathetic!

In the distance she could see one of her siblings merrily chugging along, carrying a cargo decorated with flashing targets. Beneath her an arch crackled as wispy circles of dust crawled up breaking tree limbs, meeting in the middle before disappearing. Stronger. The word grated her. That's what would happen to her in the eyes of her loving parents if she just worked harder. She could sense their judgmental glares even though they were mere dots on the horizon, and she was hardly going to vanquish them while having a breather.

"Kioda!" she heard a voice shout, a voice she recognized as that of an older sibling. She ignored it. She would not let herself get distracted. All she needed was a breath of air and a chance to steady herself. Up in the air she had felt her head spin a little, and she just needed a quick break. She blinked a few times and looked to the green forest as a means of finding calm. This was a weird place – tree, tree, tree, then a spattering of land with strange buildings and two legged creatures on it. There was no settlement around here, just forest, sky and stumbling blocks. This place wasn't deserted and it didn't take a genius to understand why. The collection of eggs had recently been explained to the young Keindred.

"Kioda!" another voice shouted, drawing her eyes back to the Drakein in the distance. "Are you giving up?"

Fire ignited in her chest at those words. "Never," she whispered, anger stoking her muscles enough to bring them back to life. With grit in her eyes, she took off again. Urging her body to summon up the magic stored within. She would work through everything step, by step. Until she accomplished her goal. Until the very magic in her body worked.

She couldn't disguise her fatigue. Her wings were flapping in the same way a dragon with clipped wings flapped their own. The muscles in her back were roaring. Her mother had told her the best way to summon her skills was to wear her body ragged. She burned, felt the tug of sleep, but she flew on. She swooped down on a lower branch, her pain temporarily relieved as the sound of it disintegrating filled his ears. The weight of her limbs resting on the branch for a single moment, but quickly returning as she kicked up to climb higher. She beat her wings harder, willing her tired body to stay in the air, but the added effort sent her head spinning again. She shut her eyes to fight the whirls, but the dizziness crossed the border without trouble. She whimpered slightly, despair filling her throat. She was no quitter by any means, but this wasn't something she could shrug off. As much as she didn't want to it was time to call it quits.

Unable to flap her wings any longer she shakily glided back to the shaded outcrop where she had perched to rest. Exhaustion seared her throat, amplified by her amateurish landing with trembling limbs. She bowed her head, unable to look at the distant shapes of her siblings.

"Kioda!" she heard them shout again, "Are you giving up now?"

She didn't answer. The spinning in her head was stronger now and it had taken her voice away. She strengthened her grip on the ledge and looked down to the sea of green, watching the waves whirl in her unsteady gaze. She was feeling ill, very ill; she wanted to vomit.

"Kioda! Are you okay?"

She barely heard the call, her brain too cloudy to register information properly. Her eyes were flickering and her grip on the outcrop was slackening. Even in her numb mind she realized that this wasn't good.

"Wha..." she panted, fatigue mangling the word. She could feel her limbs begin to tremor, and as they shook his whole body began to tip forward.

"Kioda!"

She didn't hear the final shout. Her head was elsewhere, desperately fighting to keep herself perched in a safe place. Her mind frantic as she dug deep within herself for balance. Deeper, until she was able to grasp something within. Pulling on that part of her she tried gripping with her claws again. Her muscles did not respond. Something else seemed to take hold of her limbs. Securing her with a rope like tension. She had successfully summoned forth the first and weakest of possible skills. A vine that would hold her in place temporarily.

[META] Legend of the Drakein

Grrel was there, I was so happy to see her again. I also found the S-team, someone I haven't met before was there too. Another two legged creature. This one didn't have horns like the others. I wonder what manner of creature it is.

Learning solo 2 - Learning to relax

Sun shone through the sparse holes in the leave's above a large nesting site. The young Ysali Keindred twitched, rousing slowly from her peaceful slumber. Groaning as she shifted comfortably within what remained of her nest. Within two siblings of the same clutch, they had all outgrown the protective barrier. Squishing, and reshaping, the edges. Slowly morphing their hatching site into a large bedding. A wing fluttered over Kioda's head. Sneezing once, Kioda shifted her snout forward. Giving her lungs the fresh air while her eyes remained covered below one of her siblings wing membranes. Sounds of birds, helped to wake her groggy mind. Her first set of eyelids opened as one of her sisters shifted in their sleep.

Pain seared her stiff muscles. Rumbling softly, Kioda tried to move. To warn her sister off from further movement, that would cause more discomfort. Her rumble was quickly joined by her mother, father, and sisters.

"You did well yesterday, Kioda my love."

Kioda's inner lids pulled back, sharpening her vision as she focused on her mother. Watching as she drew closer, Kioda closed her eyes completely. Allowing the pleasure of her mothers warm affectionate nuzzles to ease some of her pain. Purring contently nuzzling her mother in return. Babbling when her mother pulled away, She didn't want her mother to leave just yet! Squeaking as she struggled hard with effort to pull her body off the ground. Her pain was worse than it had been the day before after her tenuous flight. "Mom!" Taking a step forward, her stiff legs morphed into jelly. Oh why did she have to keep pushing herself so hard? Neither of her sisters had woken up yet.

The large old Ysali Drakein turned back to lovingly face Kioda. "You did well child, the only one to focus and find your magic last night." Snaking her neck down to softly nuzzle Kioda again. "Why don't you and I go and see if we can work on relieving you of your physical pain? I think a long soak in the water is in perfect order."

Pushing one wobbly leg in front of the other, Kioda proceeded forward. Her pace was frustratingly slow. The walk was long, though her mother had been moving just as slow as she. It wasn't like her mother to be so slow. Somewhere along the way, Kioda had noticed her muscles had limbered up slightly. Though the burn ached down to her deepest muscles.

The smell of water met her nostrils before long. Standing at the shore edge she watched her mother slip into the water. Her wings expanded over the waters surface. Her head rested just along the water's tension, just high enough her nose wasn't fully submersed. "Come Kioda, the water will ease the stress off your body. Come."

Kioda approached the water tentatively. It felt somehow warmer than usual. Opening her wings as she had been instructed. The water rose, she felt relief as the weight of her limbs lifted off her back. Giggling as she used her paws to push her way into the waters center. Quickly grasping the concept that her tail could operate as a type of support for directional movement. She didn't have to move her front and hind paws as hard to get where she wanted to go. Energy seemed to appear out of no where, once the ache of her muscles eased. Skimming about the surface with her wings extended Kioda turned to her mother.

"Mom. Happy?"

"Yes Kioda. Seems I'm heavy with eggs again. I'm sure you know what that means?"

Kioda wiggled excitedly. She knew what it meant. The image her mother was sending her of eggs laying fresh in a new nest. Of love for more member's of their family. The young Keindred would no longer be the family baby. She would have sisters and brothers that would look up to her. That she could make fly until they were ragged.

"I. Protect. Eggs." Kioda's broken sentence, rippled the water as she spoke. Feelings of protection and pride amplified across their bond.

"I would hope so, my powerful Kioda."

Solo - Two leggers? - part 1

The night was unseasonably cold. She could see her breath solidify in a fog before her face. Wrapping her wings around herself as she broke into a light canter and ignoring the slight throbbing in her shoulders, she felt her heart speed up in time with her plodding feet. She told herself that she didn't want to disturb anyone. The idea had come to her as she lay on her pallet, unable to sleep. She had a hunch that her real reason for not telling anyone was because she didn't want to get anyone's hopes raised only to be dashed, and, in worst-case, she didn't want a certain irritable sister nixing her plan before she even had a chance to try.

Luck was with her. The chilly night air was welcome against her lightly perspiring hide as she broke into a faster run when she reached the meadow. Warmed from inside by the exercise, Kioda slowed to a purposeful stride as she closed in on the lake she had often visited lately. Clearing her mind of everything. Intent on the warmth that emanated from her body, Kioda closed her eyes. Her chest rising and falling, she had made it far enough.

Waiting, holding her breath, Kioda squeezed her eyes closed, eye ridges drawing together as she frowned in concentration. She had seen one of her older sister's perform a complex spell. She wanted to be able to perform as well. Digging deep within herself, searching for the same energy she had found before, nothing happened.

Stifling a groan, Kioda heard footsteps in the distance. Footsteps that sounded rushed. They didn't sound like they belonged to other Drakein, or dragons for that matter. Two leggers?

Kioda shifted her head into the air, sniffing cautiously. Ruffling her wings the Keindred walked towards the sound. She had yet to meet any true danger from them, and observing the strange creatures had become a favored pastime. A large one broke out of the woods first, his hands tight around the hands of a smaller one.

Kioda startled at the sight of the young couple. Both were horned creatures, just like the first two legger she had met. Jumping to hide behind several tree's Kioda peaked out, her teal eyes watching. Focusing on a small bundle held in the tiny yet awkward version of the larger two legger. Tilting her head to the side when the larger pulled the smaller one closer. Wrapping his small appendages around her. It had to be a her, Kioda decided with a snort. Her interest suddenly peaked at the small yet strong cry from the bundle. Her head rose as she took a step forward.

The female pulled back the cloth concealing the small bundle. A small tiny version, a mix between the two grown two legger's was reviled. Kioda found her beautiful for one so small. And the way the two looked at her, as if their very souls belonged to the small demanding creature, Kioda wasn't at all sure they were harmful. Not the way they cared for the tiny one, that was for sure. Maybe, like Drakein, there were good two legger's and bad ones.

Solo - Two Legger's - part 2

The small female was fragile looking, and beautiful. Her pale indigo hair, rested at her feet. Flowing feathered wings, strange skin that folded over her body and moved like ripples in the water as the wind blew. Small purple horns wove around her head just above her pointed ears. A voice that spilled forth as the female opened her mouth was sweet and inviting. Kioda found herself entranced by the melodic sound. It was better than birds! She moved slowly to sit by the water. The delicate song, calming the cries of the tiny infant. Her bare feet resting in the liquid.

"The rain has moved on
And left a new day
Nothing seems to move everything is still
It's just a perfect day"

Taking another step forward, Kioda listened to the song. Her eyes regarded the larger one. He had dark brown hair, dark as the dirt. His skin looked darker than most two legger's she had seen. Horns, arched and swirled around his head. Deep colored hides covered his body. The larger carried wings, much like her own. Kioda wondered if they were both able to fly. If so, why were they running on the ground? Where they trying to flee from something?

"The shadows and light
That move with the wind
Hidden violets grow splashed with summer spray
Just another perfect day"

The female brushed the infants face. Tilting her head to the side Kioda blinked, the song continued to entrance her. Lure her into the couple's area at the lakes edge. Her wings relaxed at her side as she took another step forward. She was cautious not to step on any twigs that would give her away.

"On the wild and misty hillside
Fear is nature's warning
Hunger here is never far away

And all of this world
Is for children who play
Days that never end
always should remain
Another perfect day"

Another step forward. The larger seemed to react to something. His fists clenched as ice cold eyes narrowed into the dark world hidden by the tree's. The females song had stopped abruptly. Then Kioda heard it, her trance was broken by shouts of the two legger's. Shouts that seemed angry.

"Now, we don't have much time." Kioda noted how deep the voice was compared to the mesmerizing song. The large one spun around, just as the female was rising to stand. She was re-wrapping the now sleeping baby. His hands settled on her waist. Pulling her up to her feet, taking her hand they continued into the forest on the opposite side they had come from.

The shouts continued to grow louder. Only curiosity forced Kioda to stay where she was. When the first of the two legger's from another group broke through Kioda nearly hissed with agitation. Blood was on the weapons they handled. Some had wings similar to the female she had just seen.

Digging her claws into the earth Kioda watched. The two harmless ones she had seen earlier, must have been fleeing for their lives. Frustration welled up deep inside Kioda as she watched the first approach where the female had moved to rest. The same power she felt before bloomed to the surface. Her eyes scanning for the leader. She had heard her sister's once, brag about how taking out a groups leader made her one. If that was the case, she had to try here. To see if she could put a stop to the maddening fight.

Solo - Two legger's - part 3

"There." The first commented. Pointing in the direction of those fleeing.

"Good." One in particular seemed to stand out, the skins seemed more flagrant and flashy.

Him, Kioda growled in a low tone. Her head dropping towards the ground. Her wings slowly extending out ward. Nothing was going to stop that beautiful song from being sung again. Not if she could help it! Her growl continued as her eyes moved from one beast to the next. Growing louder and deeper, her tail lashed back and forth in warning. Her lips curling up away from her teeth.

She may be small but she was vicious! Her back arched, with the attempt to appear larger. Her claws ripped into the ground as one of her opponents lunged at her. Catching the edge of her wing membrane before she could scramble away. Screeching as the pain rippled through her wing, and down her spine. Her eyes catching a few heading in the same direction she was trying to keep them from.

"NO!" Kioda shouted, though many seemed stunned enough by that effect. The Ysali jumped away from another strike against her. This time a blow landed on her flank. Her deafening pitch ignited the air. Leaping away again as another strike aimed for her. The 'leader' seemed to stop the attack mid way.

"Careful, this isn't a full grown Drakein." He paused to regard Kioda carefully. "It's only a Keindred, and if we let it live. It will just run back to it's nest. A nest we could potentially harvest for more eggs."

The group burst into murdered whistles. Kioda was able to pick out few words among the babbling; Market, coins, breeding, fighters. Kioda's back arched again with another hiss. Flicking her tail once she spun, her claws digging in the earth pulling her forward as fast as she could. Her magic springing to life entangling her foes behind her. Giving her the head start she needed to escape.

Opening her wings to catch the updrafts of air, Kioda periodically jumped. Her wings flapping twice in an attempt to fly, before she was forced to hold them still. Crashing to the ground a few ways off. The cut in her wings had torn, more pain ripped through her body. Training exercise could never top this sensation. All she could do was glide as far as she could from her tracks. Before touching down again and leaping once more.

Calling out for her mother through the bond, Kioda was relieved to see her appear as if out of thin air. The chastising felt like nothing, not compared to her wing. After several moments, Kioda found herself back within her family group. Her father tending to her wounds while her mother did everything she could to round up the other Ysali Drakein. They would work together to cover up Kioda's large and obvious tracks. To protect their family unit.

Can I Kill it? [Kioda] - Success

I finally killed that haunting Ysali, the strangest thing was the object that appeared after I had killed it. Do these things appear when I die? I wonder what they can be used for, other members of my family have stored them secretly away for something. I should do the same. Hide them so others don't know!
