The sun felt good against the Keindred's back. Heating her sore muscles while the rest of her body floated lazily in the water. Her mother floating off in the distance, pulled herself out. Shaking her body to dislodge the water droplets. Her wings flapping to help dry herself off. The image of home, flickered through Kioda's mind. It had surfaced from the bond they shared. In return the young Ysali had sent images of the lake back. She wanted to stay, the ease of movement was pleasant.

Her mother snorted before raising her wings. Bringing them down with a loud snap as she took off into the sky. Kioda winced. She had a feeling she was going to end up struggling to get home if she wanted to eat. She had not yet learned to hunt for herself. At least not successfully. It was even worse with her exhausted body. Kioda continued her slow movement, enjoying the way the water swirled under her wing membranes. The feel of the fish as they slid against her belly.

Once she had satisfied her desire, Kioda pulled herself unsteadily from the water. Flopping on the shore with her wings spread as wide apart as she could get them. It currently hurt to hold them tight against her body. The painful feelings reminding her of the day she had first hatched. Closing her eyes as the bright midday sun shone down against her back. Warming her scaled hide, and muscles bellow. Kioda glistened in the sunlight.

Movement in the distance caused both set's of Kioda's eyes to snap open. Teal iris' searched the treeline for danger. So far everything seemed ok. Perhaps she had been imagining the sounds. Partially closing her eyes, Kioda tilted her head to one side. She couldn't begin to describe the pleasure she got from laying in the sun.

It was not often that Lazuli found himself separated from Maslin. Today however the man was busy in a nearby town and drakein were not welcome to be walking through their city streets. Lazuli blamed his wild kin, they ruined everything! The Peisio keindred had found himself with nothing to do and no desire to stay back at the camp.

He knew that there was a lake not to far off and a good swim would help ease his loneliness. With no dragons having been reported nearby in the last little while it was safe enough for someone as small as he. Not that he was small compared to some creatures but to a dragon he was but a mouthful.

Lazuli broke through the trees but then paused as he spotted another keindred in the distance. It's hide was a rich green indicating a drakein of the Ysali clan. Lazuli hissed and spread his purple membraned wings wide, trying to appear larger than he was. He wanted to swim and he didn't want to share the area with his wild kin. Although if push came to shove he wouldn't really fight the other unless he had to. Lazuli was not inclined to be violent except when necessary.

Kioda's eye's opened in slivers at a hissing sound in the distance. Raising her head ever so slightly in the Peisio's direction. A welcoming rumble, softly rolled forth towards the new comer. Her wings twitched, but refused to move any more than that. It still hurt to move her body to quickly. Blinking as she regarded the strange Keindred. Something was different about this one. Most of the young ones her age she had met, enjoyed games. Loved to play, even Grrel had been ecstatic to meet her the first time.

This one had a strange defensive nature to it. Did the Peisio think she would hurt it? If that was the case she would just have to lay calmly back. Wait for the frightened one to approach her. Or give it some space before she moved. Not that moving was a good idea. Wiggling her head down into the sand, Kioda chirped a welcome. Her tail skimming the surface of the water behind her, a classic form of 'I want to play'.

Lazuli was surprised to find the other keindred had no intentions of being hostile. Even without his bonded nearby he had found himself on the receiving end of drakein aggression before. Lazuli had become so used to negative experiences with his own kind that he had largely given up on the possibility of spending time with one. The female ysali seemed playful though and not very threatening, maybe because she too was small like him. Well and because she also looked like she had been on the wrong side of some fights recently.

Cautiously Lazuli ventured forward, stepping into the lake and paddling slowly towards where the other keindred lay. The water was his domain , he felt safe and secure as the sun warmed liquid covered most of his blue hided body and lapped at the rest as he swam. Eyes still focused on the ysali he issued a curious chirrup, defaulting to his tendency of using the sounds that came naturally to him versus speech.

Aware of the cautious nature of the Peisio Keindred, Kioda merely tilted her head to the other side. Snaking her head around towards the water. She painfully shifted her sore body back into the water. Cooing and rumbling, the water really did help with her ability to stretch to release her muscles. "Name Kioda." The small Ysali spoke, her teal eyes flicking over the Peisio's markings. "Peisio. Pretty." Kioda rumbled as she began pulling her body forward in the water. Her wings lazily pulling behind her.

She paused a short distance away, unsure how Lazuli would respond to her proximity. He seemed so nervous compared to all the other Drakein she had met. Maybe he needed to meet Grrel, she was a friendly dragon! Her rumblings turned into a soft purring as her inner eyelids folded over her eyes. Her head sinking slightly into the water. Pulling her head up a moment later and giving it a shake. Her muscles refused to allow her much movement. "Water nice. Not seen Peisio before." Kioda was alert as she moved slightly closer, curiously.

She thought he was pretty! Lazuli's concerns about the female ysali washed away at the compliment. No drakein had ever said anything nice to him before and none had ever called him pretty. It made him sad now that he could not help her with her hurting. He had only just begun to wrestle with his magics with Maslin's help and Kioda looked like she needed his bonded more than him. If only he could show her how good people could be or at least how good his bonded was, other people were often less trustworthy.

"Name Lazuli" he replied cheerfully, closing the distance between them even more. "Water is best," he declared proudly and swept an wing through the water, sending a small playful wave at Kioda. Lazuli was not quite sure how to play gently with her but a little splashing never hurt anyone. Perhaps if he continued to be gentle with her they could be friends and continue to swim together for as long as he was in this area. Kioda was not like so many others he had met, she might make a good friend and Lazuli enjoyed having friends.

Cooing at the mention of his own name, Kioda's head rose from the water. Watching as he drew closer. He wasn't as afraid of her as before? Maybe he wasn't afraid to start with but cautious? He was a different breed of Drakein after all, maybe it was something about the races? "Water feel good." Kioda rumbled pleasurably spinning slowly in a tight circle to emphasize her desire to remain suspended in the warm liquid.

All noise stopped as soon as the small splash of water tumbled over her hide. Had he just splashed water at her? If this was a sort of game? He was on! Playfully shifting her wings to follow the same moments he had made she keened softly. It still hurt to much to move her wings. Eying the water Kioda lowered her head below the surface and gathered up a mouthful. Pulling her head back out, stray ribbons of water dripped from her maw. Swimming forward towards Lazuli, Kioda gushed the water in his direction. Giggling when the water had completely missed it's mark. She needed more spurting power!

Lazuli had tried to paddle backwards the moments Kioda had come out him with a water filled mouth. Fortunately for him her attempts to drench him missed though she seemed in good spirits about it. As long as she didn't try to use her wings like he did they could play and Laz could keep her distracted from her pain. That counted as helping as far as the Peisio keindred was concerned. A mischievous gleam in his eyes Lazuli suddenly propelled himself down under the surface of the lake. His next splash attack would be a surprise one!
