Follow-up Call SOLO ~ Acanthite and some poor b*****d
For many girls at Saint Magdalena's, the prepaid cell phone was a blessing. It allowed free communication without risk of calls showing up on parents' cell phone bills. Mayumi had never felt the need to purchase one herself, though she had always considered it an option if she ever got a serious boyfriend.
This "boyfriend" was not serious, but he warranted the purchase of one of the devices anyway, rather for Acanthite's use.
She had not bothered to learn the guy's name, but he was one of the ones she had met in uniform at the speed dating event. The one with the dirty blonde hair who had been unable to get over the fact that she was a Japanese girl in a cute skirt, and went all desu on her. And had given her his number whether she liked it or not.
Now, though, the ten digits seemed far more useful. Acanthite was fairly certain that he would come if she called him, and she would have no remorse about draining his energy when he did. The prepaid phone would not have her name tied to it, and so she figured she could operate as a senshi on it at least for the time being.
After dialing the number and while she listened to the phone ring, the girl squinted at the wrinkled post-it of numbers. Looked like the guy's name was Sean or something. When he answered, Acanthite put on her best "cute" voice and invited him to meet her by the park. Told him it would take her twenty minutes or so to arrive.
But she was already there, seated on an air conditioning duct on the roof of a building overlooking the grassy area.
As predicted, Sean (it was his name, he just had atrocious handwriting, she confirmed) was eager to meet her for the evening stroll, and showed up quickly. Acanthite watched him for a few minutes from above, as he paced a little and leaned against a light post, then checked his phone. At the speed date event, he had asked her no fewer than three times what anime she liked, like she should be an expert or something. People like that drove her crazy, and she had no qualms about letting him stew down there for a few extra minutes.
The Senshi of the Cataract hopped down from the building and walked out to join him eventually, though. She waved with as much cheer as she could fake, and reached out to him when she drew close, asking for his phone.
"I'll type my name in there for you, so you can save my number," she lied, biting her lip and offering a shy smile.
Obligingly, he handed over his phone. She took it and held it behind her back in one hand as she stepped in close to him, pressing the palm of her other hand to his chest. Without the eyes of others watching, without the bouncers breathing down her neck, it was so much easier for her to feel the warmth of energy inside the boy, and pull it out of him.
When she finished, she draped him over the nearest bench to sleep it off. Then Acanthite erased her number from his call log, and tossed the phone onto the worn wooden planks beside the sorry kid. And she left him there.
The look of surprise on his face had been priceless.
