Don't Worry Everyone, Grandma is OK
IC Date: March 15th, 2013
Word Count: 610

Sekani's mind was only half into the lecture, and that statistic was a generous rounding up, really. The professor droned on at the head of the class, perched in the corner of a large projection screen like a noisy buzzard; he thought that the carcass he was squawking on about was very important, but the reality was that it looked terrible and no one wanted to be near it. Except for the nerds upfront, of course. Poor things, feasting on dry equations, boney symbols, and the empty hypotheticals of Advanced Physics IV. The real action was in applying physics, while the "maybes" could only be entertaining for so long. If lab courses weren't his favorite part of being enrolled at DCU before, it certainly was after reaching this lecture. He absentmindedly shifted his head to lean on the opposite arm, just to mix things up.

Normally, Sekani would make the most of a half-dark room filled with white noise and take a short nap. Should worst come to worst later and he needed some help catching up, he would simply turn on the charm with those aforementioned nerds – or feed them, or clean their gutters if they wanted him to. (His bartering skills were honed at this point, and a few of those smart kids already knew it.) Maybe a little less at the last minute this time. But then again, these methods had only failed him twice. Or three times. Sekani settled with the mental note of ‘a few.’ However, there was no nap on the docket. Today, as they say in those sappy little narratives, was special. Class needed to end a little early and the only exit was straight past Dr. Condor up there. And this professor took very poorly to being walked out on, possibly because of his subject matter and presentation, or possibly because of some dark sordid past with a woman of the night. “Not taking bets on the second.”

His brow furrowed, thoughts snapping into an organized fashion and gaining speed. Sekani Fitzmartin had to be out of this lecture hall in five minutes. There was at least 30 minutes left of class. “I’ve got this.”

Sekani quietly stuffed his notebook and pencil into his backpack. Rather than causing a panic, the adrenaline had his mind working faster. It shifted through ideas, tossing aside the impossible and the ‘this might actually work.’ He took the stairs leading down the sloping lecture hall with purpose. A small rush that he hoped looked less suspicious than those who would try to ‘black ops’ their way out. To his surprise, Sekani actually got to the penultimate step before the cawing started.

“Mr. Fitzmartin!”

Ouch. Knowing his last name probably wasn't a good sign in his case.

“Sir?”

“I assume you can still tell time. As you can see, there is at least 30 minutes left of class.”

“Yes sir.”

“So?”
Here we go.

“I… I just got a call from my grandmother! She says that my mother has just been terribly hurt in a car accident… with a lawnmower.” Sekani paused for emphasis, approaching the podium with a glaze to his eyes. “There were blades everywhere.”

A long pause didn't deter him from the act. You’re either all in or all out with this. The professor glared at him sternly.

If it didn't work, he’d make a run for it.

“I expect to see a hospital record.”

Freedom! Sekani flew out of the heavy double doors as if they were made of feathers, and ran all the way to his car, where his rowdy teammates were waiting for him. Today was the lacrosse semi-finals, after all.

What began as an out-of-control death coaster ( "BEST. RIDE. EVER!" ) ended with lots of vomit and a daring jump to escape. It turns out the entire carnival is falling to chaos - literally, though he doesn't know that much quite yet.

IC Date: October 15th, 2013
Status: Complete

Lured by the appeal of another Destiny City event and, again, free food, Sekani attends the lunar eclipse viewing party. He's filming again, and mentally prepared himself for further stomach problems on camera. The streets are bustling with attendees, vendors, and prep for events like the moon pie eating contest, but the whole thing takes an odd turn when a bit of what seems to be moon dust settles on Sekani's forehead. He suspects drugs in the baked goods.

Skeletons and Other Things I Found in the Closet
IC Date:

WELP.

An entire bag of lacrosse balls were missing somewhere in Sekani Fitzmartin`s house, and they were doing a very good job of it. Sometime after dinner, the bluenette had gotten a wild hair about practicing a bit, despite lacrosse season having just closed and the stronger, wintery weather having just begun. However, since this plan involved being motivated enough to move from a sedentary position, Sekani took up the opportunity while it offered itself. Or, at least, he would have, if all of his lacrosse balls weren't missing. There were certainly other exercises involved in lacrosse, but his body was having none of it; his legs felt like chunks of lead that were magnetically drawn to the couch when he considered running laps at the park instead. Motivation was a fickle mistress.

Even that might be giving motivation a little too much credit, as it ascribes some bit of control over itself. Rather, as the hours wore on, it was as though all motivation for practice had been diverted entirely to just finding those lacrosse balls. Worse, the reserve of lost-ball-related humor innuendo had run dry, so there was little distraction left save for the thumping beats from his headphones. Even if took until midnight tomorrow and he never had time to practice again until spring, he would find them. Motivation had some attention deficit issues.

Sekani stood and surveyed his mess of a living room. His apartment was going to look like ground zero of an apocalypse, but, given the size, at least there weren't too many places to look. Only a few of the tighter spaces in the bedroom remained. Grabbing his iPod and headphones off of a nearby table, Sekani put his game face on and dived into some of the few places left in order.

A quarter of the way through a tie drawer that he used mainly for socks and underwear, Sekani`s fingertips jutted against something smooth stuffed in the back. It was distinctly un-linen-like - not even one of the rare ties that actually belonged there. Well, it definitely was not a sack of spider babies, so he brought it out with his hand for further inspection.

What in the..?

A quarter of it was cast in gold, a strange symbol fixed atop it; the rest a bright and vivid blue. It seemed to be a pen, but not one he ever remembered receiving, let alone writing with. It actually didn't seem like one was intended to write with it at all.

A single word shuttled past other thoughts, slipping past them like lightning, until it was bright and singular in his mind. Tethys.

“Tethys,” Sekani said, testing the word against his tongue. At a lesser pace, it dragged in bits of memories of a night… at least a year ago. Not more than two. Which was pretty amazing, because there were times he couldn't tell someone what he did the day before; this had to mean it was special, somehow. A name, a description, a location..?

He distinctly remembers alcohol. The amount of alcohol explains a lot towards why he can't remember much else.

Sekani shrugged. This new confusion was a fine distraction from the old confusion, but it was not a solution. He filed the whole notion away under something to be investigated when he was less distracted and possibly more inebriated. (He considered that similar circumstances might jostle a memory loose, yet not so much that being in such a state caused this problem in the first place.)

He later found the lacrosse balls in the freezer.

Lead In
[OOC] Where We Are Now
Character name: Eternal Sailor Tethys
Faction: Order, no change.
Rank: Eternal
What are they doing now? The Watchers
Any big/important things that have happened to the character during the past five years that you'd like to share? Not much and on purpose! Sekani has basically gone deep into his civilian life to funnel intel, at the sacrifice of his senshi training and any further connections. He doesn’t even like to go out at night anymore, because the moon is a big lying liar. He still maintains his online show and has a part time job at a local donut shop.
