A Pair of Stars

She won’t ever find me, Lilly thought with a giggle. This is the perfect hiding spot! Sasha can’t even fit in here. The four girls, Lilly, Honey, Lexi, and Sasha were all playing hide and seek in the woods near their home. Sasha was currently it and Lilly was determined to not be found. She was currently on her hands and knees, crawling through a gap in the branches of a rather large and thorny bush. She couldn’t imagine anyone finding her back here.
________________________________________________________

Lilly is so good at hiding!
Honey had no idea where to go; she was always being found and she didn’t like being it. So, she decided to follow the lilligant. Lilly had been so determined to find a good hiding spot, that she hadn’t even noticed the little combee just behind her. Not that it really mattered. Sasha was off counting and they didn’t need to hide from each other. Still, it would mean if one of them was found, they likely both would be.

The tunnel wasn’t nearly as tight of fit for Honey, but she did have to watch her wings. It would be disastrous if the thorns scratched those up. She didn’t really have legs, so she needed her wings to get around. If anything happened to them, she would just be stuck. At least she would be stuck until someone came and carried her out. Luckily, that did not happen. The tunnel seemed to go quite some distance. Honey couldn’t help but wonder how far it went.
____________________________________________________

This might have been a bad idea,
Lilly considered as she made her way farther into the tunnel. There has to be an opening somewhere, some place where I can sit comfortable and wait. More importantly, though, I need a spot wide enough to turn around. If she didn’t find such a spot, she would have to slowly back out. She did not look forward to that prospect; she would surely get poked with many thorns if that happened. Lilly was worried; she was beginning to think this was a bad idea.
__________________________________________________

“Lilly?” Honey whispered, hoping her friend would hear her. “Lilly, are you there?” She didn’t receive an answer and she didn’t dare speak any louder. Sasha was surely done counting by now; she didn’t want to give away their location. As she continued to buzz on, despite having much more room then Lilly, she began to get claustrophobic. If I am feeling this way, how must Lilly feel? Concern for her friend drove her on that much faster.
____________________________________________________________

Lilly wanted out of this briar tunnel. She just hoped that she would find somewhere to turn around soon. She wished Honey was with her. The little combee always managed to lift her spirits. This crawl wouldn’t be so bad with her at her side. Maybe after this next corner, she desperately hoped. Maybe the tunnel will widen here….

Her head turning around the corner, she saw that it did indeed widen. A sigh of relieve escaped her lips as she turned into a much larger chamber, hidden in the patch of bushes. Lilly couldn’t help but think that this bush patch seemed unnaturally large. She didn’t have long to wonder about it though, her attention was soon caught by a sparkling in the ground. Hurrying to the center of the chamber, where the sparkles was, she began to dig. Within moments, it was uncovered. A star? What is a star doing here? Why am I suddenly so sleepy? With a yawn, she shut her eyes and fell unconscious.
____________________________________________________________

How big is this patch of bushes? This is unnaturally large! Am I somehow going in circles? The path doesn’t seem to curve…. Just to prove Honey wrong, the tunnel curved just ahead of her. She couldn’t help but feel slightly annoyed. This tunnel was messing with her head, trying to prove her wrong. She didn’t really believe the tunnel was toying with her; she was just tired and sore and worried about Lilly.

Upon turning the corner, she was first pleased to see the tunnel widening and then ecstatic upon seeing Lilly up ahead. Thrilled to have finally located her, she charged ahead. “Lilly!” she exclaimed, trying not to be too loud. When no reply came, she nudged her friend slightly. She began to panic when Lilly still didn’t respond. “LILLY!” she screamed, so loud that Sasha would have probably heard her, even if she was still at home, “What’s wrong? Why aren’t you waking up?”

Frantically looking around for something that might have caused this, she noticed the star. Flying in for a closer look, she too began to get sleepy. With a yawn, Honey closed her eyes and floated down next to Lilly.

I Have Arms?

How long have I been sleeping?
Honey suddenly thought, her eyes still held shut. It felt like she had been in bed for ages and she couldn’t even remember how she had gotten there. With a yawn, she stretched out her arms. I…I…I have arms? Her eyes shot open, in shock, and, after sitting up in bed, she looked down at her body. Squinting, she exclaimed, “I have arms! I have legs!" She then added, even more confused, "Shy is everything so blurry?" Ignoring the visual impairment, for she, she first used one arm to feel the other, then she felt both of her legs; they were solid, real. She wasn’t just imagining things! Then she remembered, they had found a star! The others, Sasha and Lexi, they must of carried them back here! She was so excited!

Looking down again, she realized she was wearing clothes. She had never worn clothes before! One of the other girls must have gotten her dressed, very kind of them. Now that she had changed into, well, into whatever she now was, she couldn’t be running around stark naked; no, that wouldn’t be good at all. Tugging at her top, she examined her new attire. It was soft, very comfortable. They looked like pajamas, yellow and black striped pajamas. She couldn’t go outside like this, but, for lying in bed, or walking about the house, it would be great!

Now to test out these legs and find Lilly! Carefully, she twisted her legs out over the side of the bed. “First one foot,” she quietly stated as she placed her right foot firmly on the floor. “Then the other,” she continued, setting her left foot next to her right. “Now, now we stand.” Carefully she rose, standing in place. “There, that’s not that ba----WOAH!” she started, ending with an exclamation as she started to lunge forward. The little combee landed with a thump and, not really sure what to do next, she just lay there for a moment, like a discarded marionette.

Hearing the commotion, Sasha peaked in, and, upon seeing Honey in a pile on the floor, she exclaimed, “Are you alright?! Lexi said legs can take a bit of getting used to.”

Luckily, she recognized the other girls voice, since Sasha seemed ot be one big blur to her. “I…I…yeah, I think so,” Honey replied, arranging her limbs in a more natural manner. With a slight giggle, she added, “That first step was a doozy.”

Sasha couldn’t help but laugh at Honeys comment. An amused grin spread across her face, she offered her hand to the combee girl. Honey eagerly accepted the help and soon was back on her feet, though still more than a bit wobbly. “These things really are tricky.”

Nodding, Sasha added, in one of her rare, observant moments, “It probably wouldn’t have been as bad if you had legs, or at least something leg like, before.”

“Yeah,” Honey agreed, she couldn’t help but wonder if Lilly was going to have anywhere as much trouble as she was, Lilligants practically looked like they had feet; she would be much more used to such a form. “Um, Sasha, could you help me get to Lilly?” she asked, obviously unable to get there on her own.

“Sure,” Sasha replied, as she helped the Combee to the door, “She is just in the next room.”

"Thanks and um, is it normal for everything to be blurry? I can't really see anything clearly."

Sasha was at a loss, she had no idea why the Combee would have trouble seeing. "Um, I am sure Celes would know! We can ask her when she gets home!"

"Ok, thanks Sasha."

A Seaside Encounter: Learning Bug Buzz

I don’t think I am ever going to learn this. Honey was tempted to give up, to just forget about learning new moves. It just wasn’t her thing; she would rather have her head in a book. Still, though, she had promised Lilly that she would try. The Lilligant had seemed so excited; she didn’t want to disappoint her. It shouldn’t be this hard. I already know gust…and they both use my wings…..just in different ways. Flapping them back and forth, she tried to quicken them to the point that they vibrated, but she just couldn’t get it to work.

Sitting down for a break, she couldn’t help but wonder how Lilly’s training was going. She was sure her friend had already mastered the move. She was just so skilled at that sort of thing. Another dance would come naturally to her. Honey couldn’t help but envy her friend a little. She was certain she would be able to look forward to seeing a new dance. She loved watching Lilly dance; she was so graceful. Honey might have gotten use to her body, but, still, she was nowhere near as graceful as Lilly. If she just sat around and thought about it, though, she was certain to not learn the new move. She really wanted to learn it and show it to Lilly. She would have to continue practicing!

Closing her eyes, she flapped her wings as rapidly as she could. They still weren’t vibrating. It was so disappointing. Flapping, flapping, flapping, what was that? A nearby noise started her into awareness. Opening her eyes, she saw it, just in front of her. It was a Lileep! She froze; she could do nothing but watch it approach. She wanted to yell out, to scream for Lilly, but not even a gasp could escape her lips.

Frozen in place as she was, she made an easy target for the Pokémon’s first attack. It, it threw up on her. What kind of attack is that?! She didn’t even know how to react; she wanted to gag, to meet stomach acid with stomach acid, but all she did was back away. She was scared and disgusted. She tried calling out, but still no sound would escape her lips. She had to fight back! She had to! Closing her eyes, she gave her wings a hard flap and unleashed a gust of air. As soon as it struck, she opened her eyes. The Lileep didn’t even look like it has noticed the attack. It just shrugged it off.

Continuing to back away, she dared not take her eyes off of the creature, but she soon regretted that decision. Shadows danced across its face as it molded its face into a ghastly visage. Honey stopped moving. She was stunned; she couldn’t act.

She finally managed to choke out, “Lilly! Help!” just as the fiendish Pokémon unleashed a flash of light at her. The call was ineffectual, Lilly was much too far away to hear, and now her mind, it felt scrambled.

She couldn’t gather her thoughts. The Lileep came into and out of focus; the world spun around her. What is happening? Why is it so hard to think straight? Where is Lilly? Wait, she is training. I was training. My gust, it didn’t hurt it, but maybe, maybe this new move would work? She could barely stand straight, but she had to try; no one was here to help her and the only move she had mastered, it was useless. She was desperate; this had to work!

Kneeling down, to steady herself against ground, she tried to focus on the approaching Lileep. The world continued to spin, but she had to focus. It was her only chance! This will work; it has to! Closing her eyes to keep out the spinning world, she flapped her wings like she had never flapped them before. Faster and faster they flapped; they began to vibrate. It’s working! It’s working! A wave of sound launched off of her beating wings, knocking the Lileep back. Suddenly injured by the super effective move, it cried out in shock. It had not been expecting this. Suddenly, it was the one that was afraid.

When she finally opened her eyes, she saw that it had vanished. Relief flooding over her, she collapsed to the ground. For a long while, she just laid there, recuperating. Finally, after a bit of rest, she made her way to the water and washed off. That thing was disgusting…. Having cleaned herself up, she began to head back to Lilly. After her ordeal she couldn’t wait to be back with her.
