A Place to Stay
“Now we both have crowns!” Lilly squealed with glee. She was excited. She had just been wandering the forest with Honey, when they had stumbled upon some old ruins. It was an interesting old place, but the best part was that, while exploring it, they had found an old crown! Lilly was now determined for Honey to wear it, since the lilligant already, naturally had a crown; she would not need the new one.
“It’s heavy though,” Honey whined. It was true, the crown was quite big for her head and it was rather difficult for her to fly with it. “Take it off Lilly; take it off please.”
“Fine,” the little lilligant replied reluctantly. It really seemed to suit the combee; it looked good on her. She didn’t want to burden her friend though, so she removed the crown. She didn’t want to get rid of it, however, so she placed it on her own head. It was a bit bigger then her natural crown and it fit snugly around it. Once it was on her head, she realized how heavy it actually was. It, by no means, would encumber her, but she could see how it could easily weight down her combee companion.
“Wanna see if we can find something else nice?” Honey inquired, hoping that the search for more treasure would re-lift Lilly’s spirits.
“That sounds like a great idea!” Lilly happily exclaimed. She couldn’t wait to see what other long lost relics they might find. She couldn’t help but hope that they might find some pretty jewelry for her to wear. A necklace would be nice, or maybe a bracelet. Maybe she might find a locket! She couldn’t really take pictures, but she could put some of Honey’s honey in the locket! She would keep it with her always.
Honey has less grand desires, when it came to the possible loot they might find. She just wanted to find something that Lilly would like or maybe something that wouldn’t weigh her down.
Unfortunately, the rest of their search was rather barren of loot. Some of it was probably valuable, but the selling price didn’t concern them. They wanted something that would call out to them. Nothing else in the ruins did. In addition to not finding anything, they also completely lost track of time. By the time they left the ruins, night had fallen on the forest. Night can be a scary time to be in an unfamiliar part of the forest.
“Li…li….lilly…” Honey began, stuttering in fright, “when did it get so late?”
“I don’t know,” Lilly replied, concern readily apparent on her voice. Neither girl was happy to be out in this part of the forest at night.
“Do you know which way we need to go?” Honey asked. She might have been able to find her way in daylight, but at this time of night, she had no idea where to go.
“Um, I think that way,” Lilly answered as she pointed off in the distance. She was unsure if that was the right way, but it seemed better to guess then to just stand around and wait in the dark.
They both slowly made their way in the direction that Lilly had pointed out, hoping that it would take them to safety. Unfortunately, it just led them to trouble. They had been walking for all of 5 minutes when they came face to face with a Gengar. Lilly screamed. She screamed quite loudly. Honestly, she could probably be heard miles away, by a deaf person. There was no chance, none in the slightest, that the Gengar didn’t notice them. Honey had a different reaction, not even a squeak was emitted as her wings stopped flapping, and she hit the ground. Seeing Honey’s paralyzed state and knowing full well that she could never leave her behind, Lilly first bent down and scooped the combee into her arms and then took off into a sprint.
Lilly was normally quite fast and agile, but the forest was dense, Honey, light as she was, also slowed her down some. The Gengar, on the other hand, could levitate. It easily floated over the twisted roots and underbrush that Lilly had to carefully maneuver. It wasn’t gaining on them, but they certainly weren’t losing it either.
The chase seemed to last forever, in Lilly’s mind at least, and the ghost would not quit. Weighed down by the crown and by Honey, Lilly was beginning to tire. Luckily for the two of them, her scream did more than wake the dead. It had also attracted the attention of two unusual Pokémon that had been passing by. Thanks to the taller of the two, the duo had gotten lost earlier and were out much later than normal. Otherwise, they would have been nowhere near the woods, this time of night. The taller being quite agile, and the shorter being capable of levitating as well as being less rotund then the Gengar, they actually caught up rather easily.
Looking back as she ran, Lilly saw the Gengar suddenly stop and glow a bright blue. It seemed to be struggling with something that she could not see. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a blue blur jumped down from a tree, feet away from the Gengar. Her fist a blur of darkness, the newcomer took a powerful swing at the Gengar, which then fell back, unconscious. Lilly couldn’t tell what this newcomer was. She looked blue and stony and had a tail. She was also rather humanoid. Could she be a humanlike Pokémon, like the Exeggcute she had met? Just then, another girl floated over, her feet about a foot off the ground. This other girl, looked Kirlia like, though humanoid as well. Tears streaming down her face, she charged her rescuers. “Thank you! You saved us!”
Giggling, the blue girl replied, “You’re welcome! I am Sasha and this is Lexi!” Lexi then added, “Hello! What are you two doing out here so late? There are ghost Pokémon about.” The kirlia girl seemed a bit nervous upon mentioning ghosts. Despite her help in saving them, she obviously wasn’t exactly comfortable with ghosts, when given a moment to actually think about them.
“We lost track of time,” Lilly replied, “and then got lost….”
Honey, who was beginning to come out of her state of shock, added, “Yeah, lost track of time, got lost.” She still couldn’t do much more then repeat Lilly.
“I’m Lilly and this is Honey, she is a bit shocked still.”
Lexi, concerned about what might happen to the two, asked, “It is a pleasure to meet you both, would you like to come home with us? You would be safe there! I am sure Celes would let you stay as long as you wanted. Though, you might have to sleep on the couch. We don’t have any spare rooms….”
“That would be great!” Lilly replied. If they were living with these two, they would be much safer!
“Ok then,” Sasha stated with a grin, “follow us!”
“Thank you so much again for saving us,” Lilly began as she followed closely behind. “Um, as a reward, would you like this crown? I found it for Honey, but it is too big for her. It weighs her down.”
“Well, I don’t think either of us have a use for it,” Sasha replied, “but maybe Celes could use it!”
“Um, who is Celes?”
Laughing, Sasha explained, “She is the human we live with. She isn’t a trainer, though. She is a nurse! She took us in. She is very nice! I am sure you will like her!”
Neither Lilly nor Honey had met many humans, but they were willing to take their new friends word that they would like her.

What Have I Become?
“What was that?” Lilly asked, the question directed at no one in particular, after being awoken by a loud ‘WOAH’ followed by a crash. “Where am I?” she continued, stretching her arms out in front of her, but not noticing anything was unusual, at least not at first. Sitting up, the covers tumbled off her chest, revealing a pair of green and white pajamas. “This, looks ghastly, whoever picked these out? It certainly wasn’t me,” she mumbled, still half asleep.
With almost no thought, she gracefully hopped out of bed, landing firmly on her new feet. First stretching her arms over head, then bending down and touching her toes, she thought, Something seems different.. Am I taller? I think I am taller. I’m big enough to actually need a human bed. Weird. With a twirl, she was facing the bed; she then proceeded to make it. I really need to find something more fitting to wear…..wait….to wear? I am wearing clothes? Wait, fingers? Those are new….I don’t remember those? Toes? I reached down and touched my toes? I have toes?! What happened?! Her eyes widening in panic, she suddenly remembered. She had found a star, like Lexi and Sasha, and those eggs. Now knowing the cause, her panic was substantially lessened. At least she now knew what had happened.
Was I the only one that changed, she wondered, did Honey find one and change as well? When she had first found out about the stars, she had been less than excited; she liked her natural Lilligant body. She knew, though, that Honey had desperately wanted to fine one; if they both had changed, it wouldn’t be that bad. If it was just her, well, she didn’t want to think about that road till she had to cross it. Where is Honey anyways?
As if in reply to her question, Sasha pushed opened the door and helped Honey into the room. Honey changed too! She was excited, together, this change wouldn’t be so bad, and it might even be for the best! In her elation, she exclaimed, “We found a star, Honey! We found a star!” and rushed her friend, inadvertently knocking her to the ground.
Laughing, as Lilly landed on top of her, Honey exclaimed, “We certainly did!” Smiling down at Honey, Lilly added, “You make a very cute Combee girl.”
Blushing slightly, Honey replied, “Thank you, you make a very pretty Lilligant girl.” It was technically a lie, since she could barely see her friend, but she was sure it was true. Lilly couldn’t possibly not be pretty; she was certain of it!

Seaside Dancing: Learning Quiver Dance
This is harder than I thought it would be. Lilly mentally complained, as she wiped a bead of sweat from her brow. It had been her idea to train at the beach, but she didn’t realize how different dancing in the sand would be. She was light on her feet, but she still sunk in with every step. It was annoying. Still, it might be for the best. This was a move to empower her; maybe training in difficult conditions would make it more powerful? That’s how it seemed to work in cartoons. She didn’t really watch them, but she had caught flashes of them on screen, flashes of people training in increased gravity and becoming super powerful. At least she thought that was what happened; she wasn’t completely certain, but, either way, it was close enough.
She couldn’t help but wonder how Honey was doing. It had been her idea for the two to train separately, to avoid distractions, but still, she missed her encouragement. On the bright side, though, when they met back up, she would be able to impress her friend with her new dance! Assuming she mastered it. She wouldn’t master it by standing around and thinking, though. She needed to get back to work!
Ok, Lilly, here goes! She was sure she was doing it right; despite the less than ideal conditions, she was feeling invigorated. She could feel power welling up within her and she was going faster and faster. Going through the moves, over and over, she continued to move faster and faster. It no longer felt like she was dancing in the sand; it felt more like she was on a cloud. Lilly had never felt so alive. She should be wearing out, but, instead, she felt invigorated. This dance was like some crazy mixture of caffeine and adrenaline. She continued on. As she continued, the individual steps blurred together. She had started out dancing in a very specific way, but as kept dancing, she began to realize something. The dance, it transcended the specific moves. They might have called out the power the first time, but, now that she had experienced it, she knew she could pull it back out with any set of moves. The steps didn’t matter; it was the feeling behind the dance that mattered. The steps didn’t call it out, she did; she was now in control of this flow of energy. It felt amazing. She continued to dance, this time she improvised as she went. An outside observer wouldn’t be able to compare it how she began, but, to the initiated, they were the same. Regardless of the steps she now made, she would be able to call it forth!
And then, suddenly, she stopped. She was both tired and more awake then she had ever been before. Exhausted, but she still felt that she could move mountains. She couldn’t wait to show Honey! She had no idea where Honey had run off to. She would have to wait for her to come back. While she waited, though, she could take a breather and relax some.
It took nearly an hour of waiting for Honey to arrive. When she came into sight, Lilly rushed over to her. “How did the training go? Did you learn the move you wanted to?” the Lilligant asked.
“I...I think I got it; I could probably use a bit more practice though. The training though, it was uneventful, I guess. You know, just boring old training. How did yours go?” the Combee replied.
“It went well! I think I mastered it! Wanna see me dance?”
“I would love to!”
At that, Honey carefully sat down and crossed her legs. Lilly danced.
