The Meat and Potatoes
Personality: Coy, playful, and dangerous; Boris is quite the character. A flirt by nature, he enjoys social encounters... as long as they're in his favor. He's also one to need his solitude, however, and if you encroach on his freedom too much he'll be more than happy to tell you off. If words don't work he's not past drawing his gun.
A streak of wickedness tempered by compassion, the closest thing Boris could perhaps be compared to is a feral cat someone is trying to domesticate.
Backstory:
Boris comes from a different world altogether, one filled with danger and awe inspiring sights as well as people. Wonderland. This world is extraordinarily complex, so this will be brief, but if you want more complete details, please visit his own personal journal.
Wonderland is populated by the common rabble and then the select few called Role Holders. Boris is among the later group, and thus has specific responsibilities as well as just plain abilities that single him out. He can't always talk about them, but they're always upon his shoulders.
His world revolved around a carelessness for life and creative ways to find trouble... until She showed up. All of Wonderland seemed to suddenly come alive once Alice was dropped in among them, and she's got the whole world in her hand. Though perhaps she doesn't care about such things. She has managed to pull the teeth from the majority of the inhabitants without even trying... Boris among them. With his killing instinct blunted, Boris has learned to stay his hand and has been shown a new value to life. With new apprehension, he's maturing at a rate that downright alarms him. Though no matter how he might change himself for her approval, Alice still seems to shrug off his advances. Dejected, he sought solace on another world (being as he's able to hop between them), to discover friendship and love that requires no begging.
Though Cy surely has problems of her own, ones that Boris doesn't even have the full grasp of yet, the two accept each other for exactly what they are. Even if it means coming to blows as quickly as kisses. Their relationship is volatile, filled with soft touches and harsh words, but they can't seem to quit each other. What's more, it doesn't really seem like they want to.
But Cy's got a secret that could ruin the family they've come to build together...
After being told the truth about his 'kids' paternity, Boris needs to get away. He returns to Wonderland, breaking his promise to Cy, to try and return 'home' and get his head on straight. Or knocked off. You know, whichever.
Upon arriving he's reminded by his peers how badly his absence bent the rules- almost to the breaking point. The consequences of which would be dire, but Boris brushes off the warnings; perhaps purposely so to irate them. Getting into several fights and seeking the old thrill of bloodlust and injury, he winds up on death's door, blissfully bleeding out and unsure if his battered body will make it to the next time change or not.
And that's when Alice walked back into his life and tried to patch him up.
This becomes an ongoing theme as Boris lets her comfort him, finding the irony in finally receiving her affection when he no longer knows what to do with it.
Leading her on for several months as he tries to forget Cy and replace the memory with Alice, it's not until a few tots show up at his door that he's forced to confront the past.
... After all, only the son of the Cheshire would be able to summon a Door to Madness.
Meeting his biological son and daughter for the first time, lead by his step-daughter, Boris puts the puzzle pieces together and realizes Cy admitted her secret because she was pregnant. And this time they were really his. With the time difference between worlds, his handful of months in Wonderland was almost five years to the outside world.
Torn between leaving the new life he was starting to build in Wonderland and the pull of his family, Ruger's unstable state becomes the deciding factor and Boris leaves Wonderland to aid his son before he's lost to Madness.
Leaving Alice and Wonderland behind, yet again, he never suspected how deeply his imprint on Alice was. ....or that Alice was pregnant.
Returning to the home he and Cy built together, Boris finds much has changed in those 5 years. Confused and hurt, after all for him it hasn't even been a year since he disappeared, he stays in the trees outside the house. It's somewhat uncomfortable and more than a little familiar of his time spent hiding away in Wonderland, he stays close by and watches over Ruger; teaching him how to come back and eventually how to control his gift.
In time he finally makes his amends with Cy and slowly they begin to mend what was broken, knitting their family back together.
In time, Sarin marries Fluff, whom has been a caretaker for the Airay kids for years. They have kids and Boris and Cy become grandparents. Glaive and her girlfriend have kids and become engaged and move away.
With his kids having kids of their own, and even his grandkids grown and finding themselves mates (And adopting kids of their own!) the Airay household is a noisy one.
Not all is well in the household, and old wounds won't seem to heal. Feeling rather leashed and having trouble adjusting to the quicker pace of the Outside, Boris realizes he wasn't ready to become a father. Not that he doesn't love his kids, or his children's children, but the speed of which the mantle of responsibility had settled over his shoulders was a daily struggle; one that was causing a rift between himself and Cy, and certainly some of his children. The news of his grandson having kids of his own was the tipping point, and for Boris, who was still adjusting to the role of father, this was alarming. The fact that Cy didn't share his worries made him withdraw further, unable to stabilize.
Realizing he couldn't cope, and that his presence was causing more sorrow than good, Boris fled. Leaving behind a single, apologetic note, he runs to the last point he could remember things making sense; Wonderland. Except when he gets there everything seems to be just as broken as he is. The Amusement Park is in ruin, and Mary is contemplating signing it over to Blood. Alice is completely destroyed and Boris is wrought with guilt. Not to mention he apparently left something behind last time he was here. And she's not happy...
As if finding out he has a daughter with Alice and trying to piece together this shattered life wasn't enough, Boris finds himself in for another surprise, and he can't decide whether or not this is a pleasant one. Make no mistake, he's happy to see his sister, but her golden ticket to a better life and becoming a Role Holder might cost him his...
With Teagan doing her own thing, Boris continues his Role as Cheshire and relieves his daughter of caring for the daily needs Alice requires help with. Trying to step back into his old world while also stepping up is a challenge, and the old Cat becomes closer with Mary as they struggle through their issues. But then Mary brings a surprise home... his twin daughters. Suddenly there's a spark back in the old geezer's eye, and Wonderland feels like it's got magic again. Alice starts to regain herself in bits and pieces, and it feels like Boris can breathe again. As if he'd forgotten what the sun looked like after a lifetime of rain. Of course that's not the only thing going on in Wonderland. Turns out his Granddaughter is shacking up with his best friends and the wife of one; and she's married to the other! Though if the rumors are to be believed, it's not exactly your typical marriage. One only have to look at their brood to wonder... And then the news comes that Alice is pregnant and Boris wigs right the ******** out. Are they ready for this? How will this time possibly be any different from before? Will -being there- be enough? What if he ******** up? And a million other questions that plague him...
Dinah is Summoned and with his daughter gone Boris becomes the sole care taker for his very pregnant wife. This leads to soul searching, and Boris reaches out to his son, Ruger, to make amends. It doesn't go as well as he hoped, but nor does it fail as bad as he feared. Their relationship will take some serious mending, but Boris is willing to put in the effort; around taking care of his 6 newborns that is....

Family:
See the Post below for this guy <3
The Frosting on the Cake
Plots: All centered around his family at the moment, and that's too numerous to list here xD;
- Alice comes to Wonderland and decides to live in the clock tower for a time. - Boris falls for Alice, like most people in Wonderland, but can't seem to win her affections. - Boris, frustrated by this, starts to poof out of Wonderland from time to time. ((This is new: Lys and Icy contacted me about a couple they have in Soq they want to bring over to TLN. Trouble was, Tumble Bug is Boris' daughter over in Soq. We talked it out and Tumble -will- be Boris' daughter over here too, it'll just be worked into his backstory.)) - Loving the Outside world, he flirts shamelessly, goes to bars, picks fights, makes friends, and just in general has a life. - He picks up a girl at a bar, they have fun, they part ways. ((Ends up siring three daughters, one of which is Tumble Bug)) - Gets tired of the fun life, goes back to Wonderland, Alice didn't even realize he was gone. - Frustrated, he goes back to the Outside to mope, runs into Cy, they fight. This happens several times. She bests him and he slyly barters to take her on a date in exchange for losing. - Boris brings Cy to Wonderland, which goes both horribly and awesomely. The rules and world are very bizarre to Cy, but it strikes up a relationship between the two. - They end up seeing each other here and there, but Boris still goes back to Wonderland and pines over Alice. Cy has a fling with Cheshire during this time. - Cy becomes pregnant by Cheshire, convinces Boris that they're his, and they decide to settle into their own place outside of Wonderland. - Sarin and Lewisite are born, and Cy's old friend helps the new parents raise them. Boris tries to adjust to family life, he loves his kids and the volatile relationship he has with Cy, but is just now starting to understand why Alice thought life was so precious, now that he can hold his own daughter. - Life settles in, things are going well, and Cy becomes pregnant again. She realizes this, and knows that this time the kids are definitely his. Fearing that once they're born he'll be able to tell that Sarin and Lewi aren't really his blood, Cy comes clean about her fling with Cheshire, but doesn't tell Boris about her pregnancy. - Boris is shattered and feels betrayed. He leaves to clear his head, going back to Wonderland for the first time in years. [Note: Outside time: about 6 years. Inside Wonderland: probably about 2-3 years have passed] - After two years away, Boris finds Wonderland has changed very little, just large amounts of dust. He picks fights, looking to find answers, perhaps get himself killed. Alice finds him bloody and emotionally unstable. She nurses him through til the timeskip and tries to understand what happened to him. Boris does not tell her what has happened on the Outside because of his grief and guilt, and relishes that -finally- Alice notices him. - Alice continues to spend a lot of her time with Boris, and he is torn. Now he finally has what he always thought he wanted, but in his heart he misses his family. His kids. The inability to just be happy is wearing on him. - More than a year goes by, and Boris thinks he's finally starting to let go. He starts to try and really build a life with Alice, trying to be in the now rather than what could've been. Things are happy for a time. - In the Outside, Cy gives birth to Ruger and Glaive and starts to raise them with Fluff's help, though she is emotionally damaged. Sarin becomes increasingly agitated at her father's disappearance. - At about three years old, Ruger summons the door to Madness for the first time. Sarin recognizes it for what it is, having been raised on stories of adventure and Wonderland. She grabs the rest of the kids and they tumble through Ruger's door in the hopes of finding their father. - The journey is long since Ruger is inexperienced, and by the time they tumble into Wonderland, Ruger is catatonic. Everyone is shaken up and confused. They find themselves in Boris' old room at the Amusement Park, and when Boris goes to work he finds them there. - Realizing that Ruger is his son, how else could he summon the door, and that his mental health and life could be in trouble, Boris summons his own door through Madness and takes the kids home. - He stays outside of the house and helps nurse Ruger back to health, getting the full story of what happened from Cy. Overwhelmed and emotionally distraught, Boris lives in a tree by the house for nearly a year while watching the family. - Ruger starts to speak again, but is obviously damaged by the events. Boris moves back into the house, but tension remains between a lot of the family members, and Boris is overwhelmed. He believes taking care of his ill son is his penance. - Unknown to Boris, he has yet again left a female pregnant without his knowledge. (This is a sad theme to have in the Airay house, I hope it's never repeated) Alice is left pregnant and confused with no explanation as to what has happened. Her already tenuous grip on reality starts to slip and Alice becomes unhinged. Her two realities start to overlap and bits of memory drive themselves into her sleeping and waking world. She starts to confuse everything. - Alice gives birth to a daughter and to a set of twins. She mistakes her first-born for her cat Dinah, whom she left behind in the Outside world years ago. The twins disappear soon after being born, since Alice forgets their existence in her mental illness. ((This was worked into the story due to Musica and Deej taking their two outside of Wonderland to be raised into another family. It works because Alice is the Dreamer, if she can't remember or doesn't think someone exists, then they simply don't. The two kids 'popped' outside of Wonderland and were raised by Lavi's family.)) - Others in Wonderland sort of help raise Dinah, since Alice isn't fully capable. Dinah becomes her mother's only support system, and Alice is completely mad at this point. - Life continues on in the Outside, the kids start to grow up, and Sarin marries her longtime babysitter, Fluff. They have two daughters of their own, and Boris refuses to be called grandfather. Cy tries desperately to keep the peace in the house. Ruger starts to regain some semblance of normalcy, but is a control-freak and quiet compared to the others. He exiles himself to the work garage and lives in the loft. - Lewi leaves the chaotic house to pursue his own life and fortunes, and Glaive takes a mate of her own. - Glaive and Crim have three kids themselves, two sons and a daughter, (Mis, Ridill, and Keris) and Boris can't help but feel that Glaive is too young. He's still his little girl, and the passage of time is overwhelming to him. This drives the wedge further between Cy and Boris, since Cy is delighted by every child born and loves her family. Boris feels more and more out of step with the family and starts to withdraw. - Sarin's daughters grow up and take mates themselves, one adopting two daughters, and Boris is officially a great-grandfather. - Ridill takes a mate at a young age and has two kids while in his teens. - Crim and Glaive part ways. - Boris can't take it in the house anymore, he and Cy can't seem to agree on anything and he realizes he has no purpose in the house. Though he loves his family, he wonders if he should ever have left Wonderland, if -any- of the Role Holders should ever leave, or if it's a curse to. He returns to Wonderland and leaves his family, leaving a note behind for Cy. - The Airay house falls apart. Ruger leaves to start his own shop, and Cy finds a new mate herself. - Boris returns to Wonderland to find Alice completely around the bend. They're both completely broken and Boris feels he's to blame. He meets Dinah for the first time and loses it. The Amusement Park is in shambles, the world seems to be falling apart, and he wonders if he did it by leaving. Boris commiserates with Mary and finds out the Blood has offered to buy the Amusement Park. This leads to a confrontation. - Life starts to settle down. Boris has taken Alice's care onto himself, trying to let Dinah have the childhood she never got. He starts to work on reconstructing the Amusement Park and rebuilding what was destroyed. - Keris, now an adult, goes to Wonderland herself, hoping that her aggressive nature will be better tolerated in her great-grandfather's native land. She finds it is, and has quite a blast causing bloodbaths. - Keris and Dee become mates, as Marise bonds with Dum. They see themselves as one family, moreso as Marise and Keris get pregnant at the same time... - Keris and Marise both give birth to 3 children, 2 girls and a boy for Keris and 2 boys and a girl for Marise! - Plague and Catch have 3 children of their own! - Boris learns that Mary's been seeing a girl, and that she left him saddled with twin girls; Diamond and Alexandrite. - Alice becomes pregnant and Boris becomes ******** nervous. - Alice and Boris's litter are born! 3 girls and 3 boys <3 ((ooc note: Bell is a customed in mock-baby; ICly he's just another one of the pack))

Personality: Though she may be mute, Tayce is anything but quiet. She's out-going, silly, playful, and fun. She loves meeting new people and discovering new things. Though she can be shy if she feels unsure of herself, and even pensive if asked a serious question; but her typical outlook is one of perpetual curiosity.
Backstory:
Tayce is fond of her family, despite being something of the oddball. She does have survival skills and understands weapons, but doesn't find the appeal herself. She avoids violence and war as much as possible, in fact she's quite unhappy about any sort of confrontation.
Perhaps the most dramatic aspect to her has to do with an old sparring injury that's left her unable to speak or even breathe well unassisted. She took a hard hit to her upper chest as a youth when she neglected to wear her armor and suffered a Tracheobronchial injury, leaving her permanently disabled. Because of this there's a special filter and tubing built into her helmet to allow her to breathe. Though she's able to go unassisted for prolonged periods the amount of suffering involved makes this inadvisable. A side effect of her breathing apparatus is the increasing loss of her voice due to vocal cord paresis. Though mostly due to the initial trauma, whatever remaining 'voice' she retained has been lost by the repeated use of air intubation and ventilators.
This is not a curable situation in a regular setting, though mild improvement is potential.

Personality: She's an odd one, to be honest. She doesn't say more than absolutely necessary and doesn't always do what one would expect. A bit slower to react, it would take a lot of work to get this girl to come out of her 'shell', but one might find at the heart of her is still a mystery.
Backstory: Loreyu is from a tribal family, a group that lives in tune with nature and uses only what they need. Though she has struck out from her ancestral home to See what she can make of the world, and to better understand. (Guys, she's from Avatar. I've done my best to take elements from the Na'vi)
------------
Family: None in the shop, and when she mentions it, it seems her philosophy of what a 'family' is appears to be a bit skewed.
Personality: Self-depreciating and uneasy around most people, Thandi sees little value in himself. Having had no life outside of Pride Rock, he only sees his forgotten status as the only mark of recognition. To add insult to injury, his three sisters far surpass his abilities as a hunter, having had no luck in keeping his mouth shut or the patience needed in stalking prey and waiting for a good opening while fighting.
If he actually ever got in a real fight I think he'd find he's got more bite than he gives himself credit for...
Backstory: Born to Simba and Nala, he is the only son and the eldest, though that has earned him no favors. He cares deeply for his family but dreams of a life of his own. ------- Kali has mentioned thoughts of the same. Perhaps together they could change their fate... ------ Kali has moved on and formed a pride of her own, and Thandi has settled down with Prizm. Blessed with twin sons, Thandi is a proud papa that is learning what it means to watch his own kids grow up and move on. Personality: Maero is nothing more than a walking wound. She's wild and cautious, suspicious of everyone and highly aggressive. She doesn't speak much, and speaks even less when you first meet her. HANDLE WITH CARE
Backstory:
Raised in a very small, tight-knit community; her parents were forest-folk, taking what they needed from the forest itself and trading furs and foodstuffs for what the trees couldn't provide.
These outposts make easy pickings for slavers, a lesson Maero learned the hard way when she was barely nine. Her home burned with her parents still screaming inside, she was chained to her brother and other 'wild' children harvested from this outpost and several others.
Marched in a line and bound by metal and rope, the children would be marched for weeks at a time and sold off or used. Many died or were left for dead. Maero managed to escape when one of the slavers unlocked her collar holding her to the line so that he might 'take' her and Maero's brother attacked him. Or as best he could while still bound.
As soon as there was nothing holding her, she ran, even when she heard her brother screaming, she never looked back.

Family: Her parents were killed in the raid. And although Maero didn't see it, she heard her brother's scream as she managed to slip away. She holds the belief that he died, trying to save her.

The Meat and Potatoes
Personality: His past experiences have helped shape Ruger, for better or worse, as well as his expanding family. Witty when he chooses to exercise his dry humor, Ruger is rather introverted for the most part. Existential and verbose, he's constantly analyzing the inner workings of things; be it machine or alive.
He can come across as cold and calculating, even silent and reserved, but he is a hopeless romantic and ever the helpful person beneath the equations.
His family finds him cheeky, but besides his sharp tongue and mind he's actually the most docile of the lot. He'd rather tear apart some gears than someone.
Backstory:
Abandoned along with Glaive, Ruger only heard stories about his father from Sarin; his older sister. It wouldn't be until much later that Ruger learns that Sarin and Lewi are actually half-siblings, and that's the cause of his father's disappearance.
With Sarin desperate to find her dad, when she discovers that Ruger is able to summon a door to Madness himself she's only too willing to risk their minds to make the trip to Wonderland. Perhaps not realizing the risks. Because of his young age, not being instructed in how to handle Madness, and having never been to Wonderland before (and therefore having trouble visualizing the door opening to it), Ruger focuses on the stories of Boris and Wonderland, finally getting himself and his siblings through the other end of the door... though the experience disturbs and unbalances him.
Boris meets Ruger and Glaive for the first time, and is confronted by Sarin. Piecing together the truth of why Cy chose to admit her lie when she did, and accepting Glaive and Ruger's parentage, Boris flees back to the Outerworld with his children in tow, worried for Ruger's health.
He doesn't even have time to say goodbye to Wonderland, or to Alice, despite the beginning of a blossoming romance.
Back at home with his parents together, Boris starts to train Ruger in how to use his Cheshire abilities, and does his best to fix the damage that Madness had wrought. Very troubled, Ruger can't help but blame his father for everything. For abandoning him, for the odd abilities, and for the mental anguish he went through. Feeling cursed rather than blessed, Ruger draws away from Boris, and feels separated from the rest of his family. Even when Boris and Cy finally patch things up and Boris moves back home, Ruger can't help but feel alienated. He finds himself estranged, and while growing up often skips out on family functions. Though Glaive can still get him out of his shell, often violently, Ruger still prefers his own company.
In time, Ruger moves into an add-on of the house, a workshop with a loft to sleep in above. Finding his father's talent with machines is a part of him as well, Ruger starts to take up gunsmithing, engineering, and reading in general. He avoids discussion of Wonderland and refuses to summon the door, and has learned to find peace in himself by working with his hands. He never takes up the penchant for violence that his sister does, and would rather examine than kill something.
An old family friend starts bringing her weaponry to him for repairs, and through mutual interests conversations spark. Though awkward and shy, Ruger tries to court her on several occasions, and she enjoys teasing him. He decides to pursue her, and puts forth a lot of effort to try and impress her. Unfortunately she is gone for very long stints at a time, and frustration wears on him. Realizing he's becoming bitter, Ruger attempts to make amends with his family and become more social, with varying results.

Kiwi tries not to worry about much, and let life take care of itself, but being the older sister means that she feels the burden of responsibility; even if she doesn't like to talk about it.
Backstory: She was barely of age when her parents died in a car accident, and sometimes the lack of childhood shows. Taking custody of Anna, they've been able to get by on the funds their parents tucked away for them.
So far they've been figuring out the whole 'being an adult' thing together, though both of them are a little too free-spirited for your typical 9-5 jobs. Artists and passionate, they've been making their living by selling their amateur art and their parents' nest egg.

Backstory: Not much has happened to this guy yet to have a backstory.
Abilities: Kojiki seems to have a natural talent for lowering someone's emotional defenses. People tend to open up to him, finding something about this kirin that slowly endears him to them.

There's no one to blame, of course, it's not anyone's fault. But it's left Matty feeling a bit like a runt. He's a little more quiet because of it, more self-conscious. This has driven him to be outstanding in whatever he touches, to strive and be an overachiever lest he find too much fault in himself and criticize his actions until he falls into depression.

Backstory:
