<< Previously at the Palladium 'Been together forever huh...,' Cael thought to himself. 'No!' the other side of his brain screamed at him, 'No you promised to stop doing this.' Cael shook his head like he was trying to get a fly off his ear. What had Cait said? Can I walk with you? "Um, yeah. Sure, you can walk with me." Cael snapped out of his trance when he noticed that Cait was walking like she was trying to show off. He was never able to tell when a girl was trying to send signals or not. And eleven times out of ten he was always wrong on his asumption. Well if Jay was right and if he was ever going to get a date to prom, he was going to have to make a move... something which he had no idea how to do. 'Those pants look nice on you.'*WHACK!* The other half of his brain didn't like that one. 'How about those stars?'No smack this time but it's hard to describe glaring at yourself. How about get more on track... or not. "Say, the night's still young. How are the beaches at dusk?" Even before Cait answered, Cael had changed direction towards the nearest beach. If he was going to ask Cait to prom, he should atleast convince her that he was an interesting person worth going with.

What...the HECK...had just happened? Had this new boy just told Cait she had a nice a** and was now changing course to the beach? Because that didn't smack of "I am a creepy stalker who thinks you are hot and now I want to take advantage of you where no one will hear you scream..." And then what happened? Oh, that's right, Cait followed him. As far as I'm concerned they're both idiots. In her naivete, Cait followed Cael to the beach. He was new in town, probably didn't even have his bearings yet. Plus, he had given her a compliment and she liked those. She took her hands out of her back pockets and let them swing. If he tried anything, she'd let him. It had been too long since she'd had a boyfriend anyway, and a little fun on the beach couldn't hurt anybody. Oh, and she needed a date to prom. She walked a half step closer to Cael, "So...How long have you been in town? Enjoying it so far?"

For a moment Cait appeared to be taken aback by the idea of going to the beach and Cael wondered if that was not the reason. "Have I been muttering out loud again?" he muttered out loud to himself. Cait didn't make a big deal of it so Cael determined he was just paranoid and they continued their stroll on the new course. As they crossed the threshold of the beach...

James Cross was now sprinting towards the cluster of apartments when someone blocked his way. It was another costumed individual, who looked more ridiculous than Miss Electricity close behind Cross. This costumed individual was disguised head to toe and looked sort of like a ninja type assassin guy. James Cross stopped in mid stride, almost falling to the ground and shook his head in disbelief. This was the first time that he had seen any super heroes in his life. If there wasn't a huge fire taking place at this moment he knew he would be in so much awe that two costumed heroes stood before him. On the other hand, if this fire wasn't going on they probably wouldn't be here in the first place.
James looked at the ninja/assassin guy and said, "We can use all the help we can get. This is a major situation."
With now another helping hand on Cross's side he sprinted full force towards the cluster of apartments on fire. He had come about a full twenty paces before the apartments when he saw what the situation really entailed. Screams from left and right were penetrating through the thick fire which had managed to be everywhere. People were dying in this inferno. Someone needed to do something and there was no time to wait around for the authorities. James took out his cell phone and called 9-1-1.
"Yes! Yes! Please send a ton of reinforcements! There is a fire in the apartment complex across the Pacific Unity nightclub!" He hung up the phone and then looked at the entrance to the apartment complex. It was smothered in fire. He couldn't even get close to the fire or he would burn alive. He could feel the heat from where he was. Then James heard the vocie of Mr. Wyong... "Let's see what you are made of..." It was then everything that Mr. Wyong had said to him finally clicked. Apparently James Cross had a thick skin of armor under his own flesh, if this were true, the fire wouldn't harm him. James took a deep breath, looked at his two comrades, and said, "Here goes nothing."
He rushed the flaming door and as hard as he could, slammed against it. The door went off its hinges in a heartbeat. If it was even possible, James thought that he had hit the door too hard. James fell to the ground on all fours and looked inside the inferno that was now the main lobby of these clustered apartments. The door flying off its hinges meant nothing. The fire probably helped loosen the bolts. James was not convinced of anything yet.

<< Not very Long ago. Anthony nodded from under his mask and as he was about to speak the man whipped out his phone and dialed the authorities much to Anthony's dismay, although he didn't say so aloud. He ignored this fact as the man spoke again, "Here goes nothing." Anthony agreed, that was the kind of macho tough guy statements he needed to make while under the mask. He didn't hesitate as he ran closely behind the man who busted the door down. This was very impressive to Anthony, though again he wouldn't say it aloud. "People on the top most floor should be our priority. Work our way down from there." He said gruffly in a matt-of-fact tone. It made sense to him, the people at the top would be effectively trapped and since heat and smoke rises their survival rate was smaller. As he had said this he heard frantice cries from some of the aparments patrons who were now trying to make their way down the stairs.

The night belonged to him, so far as he was concerned. Kreig Harrow, known to those below as the Night Owl, circled the brisk night, blending in with the darkness of the sky. His eyes scanned the ground, alert, though there was nothing specific to look for. Not too far ahead, a flickering light broke the darkness. Smoke curled from the flame. Kreig was angry. This was unnatural. A fire this size had no right to disturb this night. And he would find out who was responsible. He landed just as two men flung themselves into the flame. He ignored the searing heat on his back and glared in at the girl remaining. “You did this,” he decided out loud, noting her two blades of – something. “You shouldn’t have done this. You’ll pay.” And he leapt up again, flying like a dart after the two men into the burning building. He focused on the one trailing behind who looked like he had no face. “You first!” He sneered, unsheathing one of his daggers and diving in full speed towards this arsonist. “You shouldn’t have done this!” He screeched. He flew directly towards the man, hid dagger becoming like a bullet, ready to impale the costumed figure on impact. “I’ll kill you,” he hissed, not bothering to hide his plan.

<<< Previously Lindsay was about to see what she could do to help with the building, as the two men had disappeared in a heartbeat, when a figure in black accused her of starting the fire and then dived after the new arrival. "Time to see what I can do..." The Charge muttered before sprinting towards the figure in black and yelling, "HE'S ON THE GOOD SIDE, YOU IMBECILE!" As she ran into the smoke, her vision of the man in black was partially obscured, but hearing his faint hiss of "I'll kill you," gave him away. The Charge decided that rather than stabbing him, a whack from the charged yet blunt end of one blade would slow him down. She hit him in the one place she could reach him while they were both in motion-the knee. "Listen, if you're so worried about this fire, stop pointing... er, daggers, and worry about people inside! ...Dude, DUCK!" she yelled, the second part addressed to the masked man who was helping the cop.

James Cross got up from all fours and looked at the ninja/assassin type guy trailing behind him. This guy had a game plan and it was exactly correct. They should start from the top and work their way to the bottom. The more this fire raged, the more unstable it would become. James nodded and said, "I agree. Now let's get started before this building comes down."
It was then a flying black figure came swooping into the burning lobby, pointing a knife straight at James Cross's comrade, screaming, "I'll kill you." James Cross watched in horror at the knife got closer and closer to his comrade's body. 'No!' James thought. 'Move out of the way! Do something!' The ninja/assassin guy just seemed like he was standing there. Miss Electricity was still outside and had swiped this flying figure, but it didn't look like that had done much.
As the knife was inches away from James's comrade, James Cross lept in its way, not knowing what else to do. He knew this would kill him. Why did he have to have the morals he had? If it were anybody else they would just yell at the guy to move, but James wasn't everyone else. He couldn't let death happen to anyone. The knife plunged into James's chest, almost in the heart, but instead of sinking into his skin and stabbing deep into his organs, the blade of the knife shattered. Bits and pieces going all over the place. James stood there in awe, forgetting everything that was around him just for a moment.
"Holy s**t." James said.

As he nodded and was about to head up the stares he was adressed by a man who appeared to have wings and was screeching that he would kill Anthony, that Anthony and his comrade were apparently the cause of this fire, "You would do wise to calm down and assess the situation, why on earth would I be running into the building if I caused the fire? Wouldn't I be running the opposite way rather than into it to...oh I don't know maybe save these people?" It was then that the woman yelled for Anthony to duck. He roared as the man came swooping to knife Anthony. Anthony was prepared for this, there was no way he could stand his own ground against someone with an aerial advantage. He was ready to accept whatever outcome and tensed in anticipation of being swept from his feet. It was at this moment that James jumped in front of him and took the knife for Anthony. "Ah Jesus," he said, he didn't need some kid sacrificing himself for Anthony, Anthony knew the consequences of dressing like this. James appeared to be the first civilian casualty in this situation that was slowly going down hill and getting out of hand. Anthony was about to launch himself onto the bird man when he noticed that James hadn't so much as a scratch on his body from the knife, this perplexed Anthony but he ignored it. "Listen, there are people up there. We don't have time to fight this simpleton. Someone needs to get the innocents trapped above."

James was in awe. He couldn't believe what had just happened. The knife that was supposed to be deep in his chest had shattered like it was delicate china. James's eyes went wide in shock. He could no longer feel the heat of the fire or see any of his surroundings. Mr. Wyong had not lied to him. James had a skin of armor under his own. There was no doubt about it.
It was when James heard the voice of the comrade that he had just saved that his mind came back to the situation at hand. "Listen, there are people up there. We don't have time to fight this simpleton. Someone needs to get the innocents trapped above."
James agreed with this statement. For the time being he would have to forget about his newly aquired powers. James looked at the bird like man that had attacked them. "Listen... we didn't start this fire. If you want to help then be my guest... if not then just stay clear of this..."
James was going to finish his sentence when all of a sudden the roof caved in. He saw it in the nick of time and jumped away from the bird like man. The rubble that had came down completely blocked off the bird like man from James and his comrade. 'Well...' James thought. 'That is one way of dealing with someone.'
James jumped up and looked at his comrade, making sure he was okay. James's mind flashed to that beautiful electricity girl and hoped she was okay, but there was no time to think about her at this moment. "Okay... listen. My name is James Cross. I am sort of a police man... long story, no time to explain... and we need to get everyone out of here now because this place is coming down!"

The Charge's eyes widened behind her gold mask as the dagger that was bound to kill the cop shattered into a million little pieces. They then widened further as the cascade of rubble, which she jumped away from impulsively, left the cop and the masked man separated from herself and the birdman. This isn't good... she thought, And I have to get in there, two guys alone, even one invulnerable cop and whatever the masked guy does, can't get everyone out in good time. And where're the fire department and the rescue squad!?The Charge began to use her lightning blades, which were, after all, electricity dense enough to be nearly solid, to try and crush up and clear a path through the rubble. Though the plan was foolhardy, it was one of her few hopes. Then, she noticed the birdman who had previously tried to accuse her and then attempted to stab the cop. "Hey, bird guy! You mind putting your reckless accusations away and trying to help the people on the top floors? I don't care who you trust, if you're so concerned about arsonists, you should definitely deal with the people who the fire's hurting! You have WINGS. GET UP TO THAT TOP FLOOR AND DEAL WITH CRAP, DAMMIT!" The Charge implored him. That inferno was only getting worse and the guy, who had proven himself to be at worst misguided but not evil, could help much more than she could.

Anthony, didn't have a name to provide, he had never made it to that step of his hero career. He cursed himself, "My name is Anthony, I don't have anything near as good as your ability but I will do everything in my power to help. Let's get a move on." He said as he turned towards the stairs and took a deep breath before charging up them into the smoke and hell of the inferno upstairs. Right off the bat he heard a man calling out, "Help! My son and I are trapped in here! The door handle's to hot too touch and my son's unconscious!" Anthony didn't wast time throwing all of his weight against the door. As he did so it didn't budge and he groaned as his shoulder made contact. He backed up and did so again, he heard creaking in the frame. He stepped back again and ran full speed at the door which busted off its hinges and sent Anthony sprawling to the floor. He quickly stood again and noticed the man who was thanking him, he paid no attention as he picked up the young boy, "Let's go." He said gruffly.

James nodded a quick hello to Anthony just as Anthony bolted up the stairs to start helping people. James Cross followed Anthony but as soon as they had gotten to the first floor a cry for help was screamed and Anthony ran to help them. James Cross needed to start helping others. Anthony and him would have to split up. James scanned the rest of the first floor and there was virtually nobody else. That was a good thing. James next made his way to the stairwell and started acsending the stairs. This was a life or death situation. Even with invuneralbility on Cross's side, death was definitely not a thought that was pushed aside.
Thankfully, there were only seven floors to this cluster of apartments and when James got to the seventh floor he saw the most horrifying sight. A group of ten or twelve people were huddling close to a window, trying to open it. The fire had cornered them, there was no escape. The heat was excrutiating up here. James was literally choking on all of the smoke. If he didn't get fresh air soon, God knows what would happen. James screamed to the group of people cornered by the fire. "Don't worry!" James yelled. "You are all going to be fine. I am going to help..."
Just before he finished his sentence another explosion shook the building. James felt the floor below him give way and watched as the group of people started to fall with him. They all crashed into the sixth floor, which then started to collapse as well, with the entire group finally landing on the fifth floor. This building was coming down in only a matter of minutes. The group had grown bigger with the fall. People that were trapped in their rooms on the seventh and sixth floor were now emerging from under the rubble. James looked this way and that trying to think of a way to get all of these people out safely. Then he got an idea!
James Cross made his way through the group to a window. He turned to the group and said, "I am going to create a large hole to go through. You are going to have to jump. It is a pretty long fall, but none of you should die from it. There's no way we can use the stairwell to get down to the bottom floor. You either jump or die. Those are your options! Now let's go!"
With all his might, James Cross prepared himself and then threw a punch directly at the wall with the window. The entire wall crumbled with his punch. His hand was like a wreaking ball. James felt no pain after the punch. After the hole was made James looked down at the street below. It was a longer drop than he expected. Then he saw the electricity woman and James screamed to her from above. "HEY! HEY!" James was screaming as loud as he could to get her attention. "MISS ELECTRICITY LADY! WE NEED YOUR HELP! I HAVE A GROUP OF TWENTY OR SO MORE PEOPLE THAT ARE GOING TO JUMP! YOU HAVE TO CATCH THEM!" Just as James screamed this the now far up ceiling and floor of the building started to shake. The whole building was going to come down. "AND HURRY!" James added as he took up one of younger civilians and threw him at "Miss Electricity" down below.
