A small local coffee shop located on a corner, it is quaint but typically busy. Naturally the entire establishment smells of ground coffee beans giving it that sort of cozy feeling one would get with a pot of coffee. There are several oversized cushy chairs that seem to swallow even the largest humans in their plush seats. There are two computers that are typically occupied, everyone else brings a laptop of some sort. The atmosphere is quiet with subtle jazz music to keep with the tone. The lights are those ornate glass and are warm incandescent rather than flourescent.

User ImageHe pulled up to the coffee shop and shifted to first, pulled the emergency brake and killed the car, stepping out of it he walked to the entrance with a slight shiver due to the temperature difference between his car and the air outside. He wasn't surprised to see all the seats of this dump filled with some philosopher or businessman or artist. He smirked at these people, the upper class and the lower class all converging for the sake of their daily drug dosage.

He wasted no more time with his lowly thoughts of these people and went behind the counter where already three employees stood either at register or behind espresso machines. Starbucks called them baristas, took their identity from them and labeled them by profession. Anthony called them Beth, or Jim, or Fran...you know, their names. "Morning," He said to the three of them in a voice like a deisal engine idling. They smiled and acknowledged him despite the irrate customers snapping at them. "Be right out," Anthony said as he stepped into the office.

Anthony's cheerful disposition turned to a scowl as he entered the office, his only true sanctity on the job. He put on the stupid visor he was required to wear as well as his name badge and took a deep breath. Deep breaths are cleansing to the soul and calm the ever racing heart. Sidartha understood this, that is why it is at the heart of meditation. The voice of a long dead monk said as it echoed through his skull and for a moment he was glued to the spot. His mind reeled with images of fire and helpless monks being gunned down. The image was brief but haunting none the less.

"Welcome to cups, what can I get for you?" He said cheerfully with a warm smile to the woman on the otherside of the counter who was on the phone and talking rather loudly. He hated cell phones, and he hated even more the people who insisted on staying on the phone even though they were next in line.
".... Well that's what I said to him but he wouldn't listen......Right...Right...I know! If he'd just listen he wouldn't be in that situation!....Hmmm? Oh I'm in line at Cups....." And so the conversation went as Anthony felt his eyebrow twitch as he tried to remain kind and friendly looking to the woman who was now making the other customers angry. This was all working against the so called mellow atmosphere and to Anthony it was funny, people came to a gentle atmosphere to be loud and debate politics and talk about petty moronic issues. He asked Jim to take register for a while and moved to making beverages. This part of the job was more appealing because it meant talking to Beth. And Talking to Beth meant the latest news, inquiries and anything else that would help in his quest for justice in this city.

User ImageAnthony was particularly interested in the new Beth had about some new musical sensation known as B.A.N.D. Apparently this aptly named crew of musicians was causing riots in the streets and all sorts of havoc and clearly not something to be ignored. There wasn't much else that she could interest him in, he just kept pressing the issue of this teenage sensation. He managed to get out of her that B.A.N.D. was going to be playing Prom for the local high school. He also learned that non students of the highschool could attend. He considered inviting someone, hell he could probably get himself invited by any of the numerous highschool students that came here to act grown-up after school.

Speaking of the hellish afterschool hours he glanced at his watch. He decided he'd extend his shift and sent Jim home. He was determined to know more about this current music fad and how it managed to spark rioting in the streets. He typically avoided the highschool crowd but he was actually looking forward to it on this particular day.

User ImageAnthony noticed that the young man who had just entered the shop had sat down without ordering anything. He was obligated to leave his post and ask the man if he needed anything. He didn't mind since Beth hadn't been able to tell him much else about this band that was causing so much comotion. He'd have to do some snooping of his own after work and not as Anthony Riciarddi either.

If there was anything that Dare Devil, Batman, and Rorschach had taught him it was that bars were the best places to get information from the slime of the earth. Unfortunately, this B.A.N.D. seemed to have more appeal to young people, meaning that a dance club would be more suitable, meaning that his costume probly wouldn't be as intimidating. He frowned about this but quickly let the frown disappear as he approached the young man, "Excuse me, I'm Anthony is there anything I can get you while you browse the internet?"

User Image Chen looked up with very mild surprise. Anthony was only doing his job but it was still slightly irritating. That and the fact all he had found out about the forest was about people that wanting to develop the land stopping for reasons unreleased to the press. With a tired sigh, the imp smiled through his glamor and shook his head.

"No thank you, I'm good for now," Chen could only hope his tiredness wasn't showing, especially since he looked younger than Anthony when he must have been at least 20 times older, "I'll let you know if I need anything but thank you anyway."

User ImageAnthony became slightly suspicious of the man he was serving. He had appeared to be younger than Anthony but as soon as he spoke Anthony was alarmed by the tone and sound of it, as if this man had had they experience of a full grown adult and then some. "Of course sir, let me know if I can get you anything." He turned and walked away back towards the office of cups and as he walked in he was startled to see his long dead brother.

"Anthony, Good to see you," He said leaning against the wall. After a moment he shifted uncomfortably, "Well? Are you to old to hug your brother?" It was Anthony's turn to shift uncomfortably. Sean had been dead for years yet here he was. It troubled Anthony that he maybe hallucinating, that no one else could see his ghosts and yet he didn't check into a mental hospital because typically said ghosts had good information for him. So he went ahead and appeased his brother and gave him a hug. "Anthony I'm glad I caught you, this city seems a little edgy. I suggest you try to get to know the man out there that you just talked with. He seems to know what's going on." Anthony nodded dumbly he didn't want to respond verbally should anyone outside hear him.

User Image With a growl of irritation, Chen almost slapped his laptop shut and rested his head in his left hand and breathed deeply. There was practically nothing in the media about the damn forest! Nothing! Even if he got someone to look around by more not-so legal means, he doubted much would be found. With a groan of realization, the imp realized that he would have to go to the woods again.

Ug, I'll mull this over with coffee... Chen thought with a deep hint of annoyance. Looking around for Anthony, spotted him near the counter. It appeared the boy was talking with someone but a group of people that had just entered blocked him from site. Shrugging, the imp got up and went to another cashier. All those years had taught him a few things, such as stay out of other people's business whenever you can, well, most of the time. Besides, Chen thought, I have enough to worry about....

User ImageWhen Anthony's deceased brother gave him advice he typically took it. Had he majored in any sort of psychology courses or anything of the sort he'd probably deduce that his brother was an image his subconscious used to send him information he wasn't aware he already possessed. But being that he hadn't majored in psychology he took this to be the living breathing ghost of his brother so to speak.

As a result when his brother told him to befriend this Chen character he took this as perhaps a valuable asset and when Chen ordered a drink Anthony made sure to be the one who delivered it to him. "Here's your drink sir." He said setting the mug on the table. "Being honest with you? this doesn't really look like the kind of place a man like yourself would be associated with. Unlike the rest of these people in here you don't just appear intelligent you seem to give off this vibe that speaks of untold wisdom. So I guess what I'm getting at is why here?" He wasn't very good at making friends needless to say.

User Image With great restraint, the glamored imp drained his coffee and picked up his laptop and bag. Of all the times to ask such a question, Antony had chosen now. Put simply, he wasn't in the mood. Chen stood up in a slow, almost grace movement no normal human would be able to accomplish. The boy was persistent, might as well reward him with the treat of a warning.

"Why indeed," he began, letting his accent roll over his words, "Why did I come here? But how about you? Why did you come? I have no need to answer your questions." Briefly, Chen smiled with his pointed, teeth but kept the rest of his glamor on. There was no need to hide anything. Even if the boy was observant, he would just change his glamor if anything went sour. Or go to Wales, he hadn't been there for a bit. "There are people I wouldn't oppose, even if I had your... ignorance." Chen began to walk out but turned back and threw Anthony's name tag back to him. "Learn your place, boy."

Still smiling (but without the pointy teeth), he left.

User Image"Well that went well," He snapped at his brother who had chosen to sit down with him at Chen's now empty table. Anthony had his head in his hands and was mulling over the days events in his head. It wasn't just that He had lost a potential customer it was that he had lost a potential friend and had been humiliated in the process, "I don't understand this world." he said to his brother who nodded and spoke, "But you did notice there was something a little...off, by his character didn't you?" Anthony sat up slightly. There had been something off, he had the spoken with the dignity and eloquence of someone who had maybe hundreds of years of experience. Furthermore, he had strangely colored eyes and pointed teeth and was inhumanly fast. He stood and noticed his brother had already left.

"Beth, I need you to do me a favor," he said as he approached the counter. She looked up and smiled at him, "Sure Anthony what can I do for ya?" He seemed rattled. "Could you close up for me tonight?" He asked her rather inattentively. "Oh of course Anthony," She said with a smile as he thanked her and took off his uniform and walked out the door to his car. She watched him and sighed, she worried about him, he seemed to have a hard time keeping up with the modern world.

Subsequently. >>

User ImageAnthony was not happy, then again he often wasn't happy but today he was in a particularly sour mood. His hallucinations were on the fritz and refused to leave him alone since prom and he was having a hard time telling which way was up anymore. To add to this he now had Beth upset with him due to his behavior at prom, not that this was really a problem anyway.

He tried to shake it off and just get through work but was frankly having a lot of difficulties. He shut himself in the office and tried to meditate to get rid of the ghosts that haunted him but it was to no avail. And so here he was yet again manning the coffee machines with all their hideous hissing, squeeling and belching of steam that caressed his face. He had considered the card the cop had given him several times in the time since prom but hadn't actually bothered to call him. I can handle this, I don't need any cop snooping around in my personal life. He thought to himself miserably

User ImageMariana walked in cautiously, her eyes surveying the room as she advanced through it. The prom was absolutely wild, but after that run-in with the law, she knew well enough to keep a low profile. That didn't exactly make her stop causing trouble, but she was now markedly causing less of it. She hated lying low--it was completely against her nature. Now she had to act all nice and demure, avoid her usual spots, and do everything to avoid drawing attention to herself. It was sickening... though, not as sickening as what she was wearing. She had come up with this idea on a whim, but now she hated it. She'd be sure to find something more suitable once she got back home, but right now she needed something to take her mind off of recent events. She came up to the counter, not nearly as assertive as she usually was. "Hello there. A cup of tea, please?" God, she thought. That felt weird... that even sounded weird.

User ImageAnthony looked up and cleared his throat, "Hrm, What kind of tea would you like ma'am? Maybe some Earl Gray or Irish Breakfast, Iced or hot?" He said politely. His head was hazier than a marsh but he didn't forget manners. The woman looked vaguely familiar but he wasn't going to mix his two life styles here, he'd already learned that lesson twice now. Once in telling that police officer His real name, James he believed his name had been. And then again at Prom by hallucinating and telling others what he had seen. He frowned just so slightly that it only looked to be a twitch, Note to self: I need a super hero identity so I'm not forced to give people my actual name. It was a rookie mistake but he couldn't believe he had been so foolish.

He suddenly realised his mind was drifting as he saw his brother standing behind the woman trying to get his attention. His Jaw tightened and he avoided making eye contact as best he could, He's just a figment of imagination, ignore him. Then he realised his brother was trying to help him by making him focus on the woman in front of him again and he clenched his jaw tighter, getting help from imaginings was starting to annoy him.
