<<...Cael thought about how to answer Cait's question. "I've only been here for a few days but Delmor is proving to be far more interesting than I had anticipated. I know you and Jay said it was boring but I think there's alot more to this place than meets the eye." Cael picked a nice spot next to a jetty to sit down. As they looked out across the pale blue horizon left in the wake of the sunset he allowed one of his hands to begin absentmindedly flowing with the waves. He had forgotten entirely about the Water Array in his pocket on the napkin. Ever so slightly the waves began to get bigger. Cait had been inching closer to him as they walked. Cael finally began to believe that Jay was onto something, not that this thought gave him anymore confidence. He decided to get on topic, atleast then he could start figuring out how to ask her to the prom. Cael continued, not noticing the waves, "I'm sure all sorts of strange things will come out of the woodwork at the prom this weekend." Cael was about to let Cait respond but just as she was opening her mouth to speak Cael got a burst of confidence and cut her off. Turning to Cait he asked her, "Would you like to go with me to the prom?" Once again, before Cait could answer, she was cut off. But this time not by Cael. He had unwittingly sent a fifteen foot wave up onto the beach which crashed over the two the moment he finished his question.

Cait gasped for breath as the water receded back. It may have almost been time for prom, but it was also most definitely still cold in the ocean of New England. She shrieked and started to shiver, momentarily completely overcome by the presence of the rogue wave and how very cold it was. What was it that Cael had asked her? Cait tried to shake herself off as best she could, "Figures, doesn't it... The sun is going down and I am across the island from my house...You okay, though?"

Cael checked his pockets to take his mind off of the fact that he had just been ignored. Cell phone, ok. MP3 Player, ok. Wallet, ok. His lighter was soaked but it would live. Then Cael pulled out the napkin. 'Oh wow... did I do this?' Cait didn't appear to be having a good time. 'She wants to go home already...' "Yeah I'm ok," Cael replied. He checked his bag. Everything inside seemed to be dry somehow, he pulled out his sweatshirt to offer it to Cait and found out why. Dropping the soaked sweatshirt and bag on the sand he said to Cait, "Wait here a second." Cael climbed over the rather large jetty to the other side. In a gap between two of the rocks he found what he had left there this morning, his ATV. Cael pulled the key out of his pocket and dragged the red thing out from between the rocks so he could climb on. For his 16th birthday Serenity had bought this ATV for him as a present. She had worked all summer to buy it while Cael had been a lazy bum. Of course this meant that she had asked him for rides everywhere. Cael put in the key and started the engine. He drove inland along the jetty till he found a point where the sand was close enough to the height of the jetty to climb over it and drove back down towards Cait and the shore. Pulling up next to her, he picked up his things and said, "How about a ride home?" He tried not to think about the fact that he had just been turned down by a lack of answer to his question, or to let his disappointment show on his face.

"Oh Aye, lad, strange things abound in these parts," Pease said, scowling out the window at some sort of dune buggy that was fouling his shores, "I'm sure you'll be able to find others to help in your quest for good. But I agree, you do need a name." Pease's beard was perfect for stroking thoughtfully, "I like the captain part of your last alias, for obvious reasons, I'm sure. But you're no longer a cripple. You need a new attribute to focus on, something which conveys your true power." The fingers ran through his beard furiously as he ruminated, finally stopping as he cried out "Aha! I name you Captain... Pasty!"

What did he ask me? something about prom? Cait beat herself up trying to think of what Cael had asked her before the wave hit them. He had walked away over the jetty for something and told her to wait there for him. He'd asked her to go to prom with him, didn't he..? That was perfect! Jay could go with her boyfriend, and Cait could go with Cael and then Jay and Cait could go in their Duct Tape dresses and everyone would win! As Cael rode up on the ATV and gathered his things, he asked if she wanted a ride home. "Oh, of course I'd love a ride home! You are a lifesaver!" Cait hopped on behind him and wrapped her arms around him to hold on for dear life, "Oh, and I'd love to go to prom with you, by the way."

Cael was just about to drive off when Cait said that she would go to the prom with him. He turned back to Cait. "Really? Cool!" he smiled at her "I thought you weren't going to give me an answer." He laughed and asked "So where are we headed?" and started off down the road.

"Do you know where Muddle Way is? If not I'll give you directions on the way. It's not hard to get to." Crap...I probably ought to tell him I'm going to prom in a duct tape dress and what the plans already are.... Oh well, when we get to my house we can talk about it... Cait's ride home was exhilarating; there was something special about having the wind run its fingers through your hair as you powered down the road. Hopefully the wind would dry her off by the time she got home, but Cait suspected that it would not because the speed limits on the way were too low and it was only a short ride... It was just cold. At least she would be home soon with a warm shower and a hot cup of coffee ground fresh from Espresso Eddie's. There was nothing like a hot shower to make all right with the world again... Ooo, and maybe she'd light some candles and take a shower in the dark... Her narcoleptic episode at the PU had made an early night important, or they would continue for a few days. There was nothing worse than falling asleep on her homework, and she had a lot of work to do to get her dress ready for prom.

"Captain... Pasty?" Josh smiled as he rolled the name over in his mind. It had a certain ring to it; a ring that sounded like destiny. "I love it! It's a perfect name for my new super identity!" He, too, looked out the window but missed the dune buggy. He looked back at the bright ball of light. Suddenly, he had an idea. "You can be the Lightkeeper! You know, 'cause you keep this light here?" Afterwards>>>
