The Girl Who Can

Damien's sharp eyes caught some action over by the bar, and the man couldn't help but wander over there. Damien weaved his way through the growingly obnoxious audience. He then noticed that it was Cael, one of the 'special' kids he had met. Damien wasn't sure if he should continue approaching, he didn't want to freak the kid out, but this was just getting too interesting.

User Image"You... With your mind?" Danielle was on her feet in a flash. As Cael mentioned getting in trouble, Danielle followed his gaze and saw the approaching man. "Hello, can we help you with something?"

Now, another man was cutting through the crowd. This one was rather dashing, but clearly too old to be picking up woman in this particular venue. "And again, can I help you with something?"

User ImageJames Cross stared at the girl with the glasses for a moment and then looked at the boy who had had the glass explode in front of him. James didn't know how to ask the boy what had happened. The glass had seemed to just explode in front of him, but the boy had been staring at the glass, muttering something to himself before it had. This didn't make any sense. How was the possible? Then James thought of what had happened to him a couple days ago; how he had been given "special abilities" by Mister Wyong and Spaldwin. He did not believe that he truly had been given any powers anyway. In the past couple of days he saw no change in himself or any peculiar change inside of him. But how could James explain what he had just seen without thinking supernaturally.

Then something else popped into James's mind. What if he hadn't been the only one given powers? What if Spaldwin and Mister Wyong had given other people powers as well? Was this boy a product of Mister Wyong? There was just one problem: James wasn't allowed to discuss with others about what had happened deep in that undersea lair, or else he would put whomever he told in grave danger. He had to get this boy alone and safely talk with him.

"Actually..." James started quickly, answering the girl with the glasses question. "I wanted to know if I could talk with this young gentleman quickly. Nothing big..." James thought for a moment and then quickly produced his (well... Laura's) badge. "Official business. Won't take long at all."

Damien saw the flash of a badge, and decided not to get himself involved. He would learn soon enough- and besides, he couldn't allow the curious characters of Delmor to distract him from watching over Tehra. Damien sighed slightly as he eyes passed over the girl with glasses who had addressed him. He shook his head no to her question and turned to walk away, disappearing into the crowd

After waiting in a rather long line, a somewhat dressed up Tehra was quickly nodded in by the intimidating bouncer. She entered the room, taking in the scene. They had already started playing, but the audience wasn't out of control. Tehra liked the music somewhat, but she didn't find it to be worth the hype that B.A.N.D. had received. She drew in a breath as she walked up and took a seat at the far end of the bar. The pink haired teen noticed a few people standing around, but she didn't find that to be all that unusual. The girl ordered a nonalcoholic drink, something fruity with far too much sugar- but the fallen angel needed the energy.

Damien sensed something new in the room, a sense that he would recognize no matter what, considering he had created it. It was Tehra, she had attended the concert. He should have guessed it- she was a trouble hunting teenager, so of course she would be here. As soon as Damien caught sight of the bright pink unmistakeable hair, he ducked further into the crowd. He didn't exactly want to explain to her why her murderer and hero was here.

User Image"Official business, eh?" Danielle looked at the badge, looked up at the man, then looked back to the badge. "Well, I'll just leave you to your business, then."

Danielle jumped off her stool and took a few steps beyond the bar before whipping out her PDA. In moments, she pulled up the website for the local police and searched for "Laura Listerine." With one more glance at the man, she shook her head and pressed a speed dial.

"Username 'The Show.' Suspicious character by bar, authorize program: 'Jenkins.' The man is not to leave here with the boy. Stand by for further instruction."

In a hidden corner of the PU, a pair of green eyes flickered to life.

User ImageJames Cross watched the girl in the glasses walk away. She looked young, yet seemed very mature for her age. He couldn't help suspecting that there had been a double meaning when she said, "I will leave you to your business then." It seemed very suspiciouc for some reason, but James couldn't put a finger on what was so peculiar about the girl.

He then turned back to the boy, now that they were alone, and said, "Sorry if i alarmed you. My name is James Cross and while I still do need to talk to you... this isn't as much police business as it is personal. If we could go somewhere a little quieter so that I could talk to you in private that would be great." James knew that his proposal sounded very sketchy, but he couldn't tell the boy what he needed to with all of these people around. He just hoped the boy didn't take this the wrong way.

Tehra's teal eyes kept darting around the club, she felt like there was someone here she knew, she had that intuitive feeling one gets when they are being watched or are around someone they know. Tehra couldn't place it however, she didn't see Alma in the room- besides, that girl didn't seem like this place was her type. Alma seemed to prefer being secluded. Tehra was trying to figure out why she had that feeling, but with a sigh she couldn't say, and took another sip of her hyped up drink. The buzz was taking effect quickly, something the tired teed was most definately thankful for.

Damien kept glancing over to where Tehra was. Which wasn't all that difficult, considering her curly pink hair stuck out like a sore thumb. Her eyes were darting around constantly. He didn't like that. It meant he had to keep being moved by the pulsing crowd. Damien really didn't want to explain his purpose at a club filled with people. It simply wasn't conducive to secret keeping.

User ImageThe police, great. It had been a little over six months since his last encounter with an officer. Cael had kind of been hoping that without Serenity around to get him into trouble he wouldn't have to deal with them for a while. Apparently he was just as good at attracting their attention without her help. The man who identified himself as Officer James Cross carried a badge with the name Laura Listerine on it. Cael started to worry that if this man didn't mind flashing other people's badges then there might be other parts of his job that he was unconventional about. In any case he had no intention of going anywhere with this James Cross.

Cael tried to play it cool though he had never been as good at it as some. He was grateful for Danielle's efforts to dissuade the men from talking to him. It had worked on one and gave him time to compose himself before speaking with James Cross. "Personal business with someone else's badge? If you don't mind I'd rather stay in sight of a few hundred witnesses if you're going to talk to me. Plus I haven't finished my drink yet." Cael made a mental note to thank Danielle for her help if he ran into her again.

User ImageJames Cross took a deep breath and then looked at the boy. "Listen..." James began. "if we talk right here... right now..." He looked around and tried to see if anyone suspicious was spying on him and the boy. The only person he saw sending glances every now and then at the two was that weird girl with the glasses. Something was definitely wrong with that girl.

James continued talking to the boy. "Listen... if you really don't trust me fine. I am aware I flashed you a badge that isn't my own. What I CAN tell you is that the real Laura Listerine is outside in her crusier waiting for me to go back to her and call it a night. But I am not ready for that. I saw that glass explode in front of you and if I can say so... I think you yourself did that... without... without touching it. So all I am saying is this: you want to carry on this conversation with this many people, then fine, but if we do know that there could be serious consequences."

User ImageThe man talking to Cael seemed almost scared, which was scary in itself considering his size. It was hard to tell whether the expression on James Cross' face was anger or annoyance, maybe both.

Cael was mentally kicking himself for causing such a ruckus. He should have never drawn attention to himself in public, he knew better. He didn't like the tone in James Cross' voice either; Cael had never been one to submit to a threat. The "cop" wasn't going to arrest him or he would have by now but Cael could tell he wasn't going to leave him alone either. He had to think of a plan and fast.

Cael looked around trying to find some place he could feel safe with a cop. Realizing there wasn't anywhere that fit that scenario, but not wanting to stay in the open, he settled for second best when he saw the men's room right next to the bar. Cael took a napkin and sketched the stage-1 water circle on it before he hopped off his stool and walked over to the door. Cael kicked it open and stepped inside calling out the occupants with the deepest voice and all the command he could muster, "Alright, Reefers, everybody out!" Four freshmen emerged from the stalls and rushed past Cael into the crowd for cover. He surveyed the room and decided that this would work. If anything went wrong he could make the sinks explode, it would at least stun the man. He turned back to James Cross, "You coming or what?"

Cael tried channeling his fear into corage. He hoped that somewhere a girl would pick up a guitar and sing a song to calm him down.

User Image"I might be busy now," Danielle muttered, for from the moment Kailey bumped into her, her PDA began shrieking. She fiddled with it for a moment, stopped and stared, then pocketed the device.

"Look, I know your type. You're all bubbly and excited about my job at first, but then it turns out you're really just trying to get to my brother. I don't like being used. If you want to talk, let's talk about you." Danielle leaned in closely, "Like the fact that you have a rare genetic marker that makes you a likely candidate for certain 'abilities.' Do you know what I'm talking about, Miss...?"
