The Girl Who Can

"Who really knows? We'll just have to wait and see I think..." Tehra sighed as she hopped off the counter. "So how about Delmor? It's one strange little city that's for sure. And then B.A.N.D. playing at prom... I think thats one MAJOR mistake." Tehra noticed that it was a bit difficult to get to know Alma, but she supposed it was just part of meeting each other for the first time. Tehra was one of those people that let on that people knew her well, but in reality there was a lot that she purposefully let them miss. Such as her biggest secret, the fact that she was a fallen angel. No one but Damien knew that.

User Image "Delmor's... different," Alma snickered slightly, "But I haven't gotten a good chance to look around the place yet. I only arrived here on Saturday and I had to help unpack on Sunday... Then there's B.A.N.D...." The girl let out a deep breath and thought about all the controversy over the group. She let herself think for a moment before speaking again, "With all the riots you kinda have ta wonder why the school accepted B.A.N.D.'s invitation to sing at prom. It's almost as if someone wants to make more problems on this crazy rock."

"That's an interesting point, Alma. I wonder if you could be right. I feel a little silly making all these accusations, but this town just doesn't seem right." She shook her head. "Let's just hope that the students here in Delmor are mature enough not to let B.A.N.D. incite them into a riot." Tehra smirked lightly. "That wouldn't be a fun thing to take care of."

User Image "Heh, I'd hate to be the police on Prom night," Alma smiled just as her phone rang. Blushing slightly at the chorus from "Crisis" by Tarafew echoing from the pocket that was beside her left knee, she mumbled an apology softly and looked at the phone's screen. It barely surprised her when saw a text message; the ring was for text (there was a different one for calls). After a soft sigh, she slid the phone open and looked at the message. "i no i told u 2 not c** rite home, but nxt time, at least txt me!"

"Sorry, my mom's yelling at me via text that I didn't tell her where I was," Alma said sheepishly. After a quick, "I'm at a new friend's and use proper grammar, please.", she closed the phone and put it back in the pocket. After stretching a bit, the girl continued almost apologetic. "I probably should be heading home. You don't need to drive me," she added before Tehra could offer, "I need to get to know this place better anyway."

Tehra smiled. "It's okay, I understand parents and their weirdness. And alright, if you're sure you don't need a ride, then it was great meeting you today, and I'm glad you came over. I will see you in first period tomorrow Alma. Be careful on your way home."

User Image As she turned to leave, Alma smiled and said a quick farewell. She walked calmly to the door and closed it behind her. The semblance of calm only lasted that long, an urge of adventure over came her as she sped up the pace. There were almost 2 hours for her to simply explore and she wasn't going to waste it.

Tehra looked at the clock after Alma had left, her blue eyes reading it to be a bit after four. She sighed slightly to herself. It had to be at least eight before Tehra would even consider gearing up for the evening. She took a seat on the couch and began to flip through the channels boredly, running a feminine hand through her lovely pink curls. Tehra yawned widely and was quickly reminded of her late night last night. She looked at the clock once more. It was only four... she had four hours before it was time to search the city for seedy characters. She smiled slightly to herself as she stood up and walked the short distance to her room, setting an alarm for eight o clock. Soon after, Tehra was sound asleep, getting what rest she could while she could.

A very very handsome man stood outside of a large apartment complex on the nice side of town. His red eyes scaled up the side of the building, taking in its size as the gentle wind blew his soft black hair about. 'So this is where you've taken up residence, my little charge...' the man thought softly to himself. He had come to Delmor in search of the pink haired fallen angel who currently slept soundly in her own little piece of the world. It saddened him a bit, this man named Damien, how a girl so young with so much ahead of her had been forced into this new life, this life of fighting and violence due to his own vices and his own enemies, not to mention his own blade. He drew in a breath and shook his head. At least he would do what he could to help her.

The original good fallen angel had gotten wind of some of his enemies heading to hunt down Tehra, finding the amusement of killing a 'new' member of their race quite enticing. And so Damien had come here to warn her, to train her, and in general to make sure she didn't die again. After gazing up at the building once more, Damien turned and left, intending on watching her silently that evening, and many other evenings for a while, hidden in the shadows, to see just how much work he had to do.

User ImageClarice clucked to her mare, Morrigan. The Arabian's ears flicked back, she sped up to a brisk trot. She lightly flicked the reins to the right, directing her mare to go in that direction. As Clarice approached the wall at the edge of her property, she lightly pressed her knees into Morrigan's sides, bringing her from a trot to a canter, then to a gallop. She sped down the length of the wall to the back of the property. Clarice exhilarated in the feel of the wind in her hair, the feeling of being one with the horse, the salty scent of the ocean. A slight tingling at the base of her neck warned her. She reined Morrigan in. The mare danced for a moment then settled down, ears alert for any pinprick of sound.

Clarice looked around. It felt as if someone were staring at her. She always got that tingly-back-of-the-neck feeling when someone happened to be staring at her. After a few moments of staring around her, she lightly pressed her knees into Morrigan's sides. It was only a crow... she thought, trying to slow down the rapid beating of her heart. The mare plodded back to the stable.

"Whoa," she murmured, pulling the reins back. She slid one leg out of the stirrup and alighted on the ground with it by swing her leg over the mare's back. With practiced ease, she pulled the remaining leg out of the stirrup. Both feet on the ground, she went to her mare's head. Clarice slipped the reins over Morrigan's head and using them as a lead, brought her to the second stall. She led the mare in by the reins, then proceeded to take off her bridal. Morrigan headbutted her, she laughed and pushed the dark mare's head away. Grunting, she undid the saddle girth and hoisted it off of Morrigan, taking it to the side of the stall and putting it on the wall between the two stalls. She then proceeded to pull off the saddle blanket. Clarice hoisted the saddle on top of the saddle blancket, and put bot items on her shoulder, bridal in her left hand, she opened the stall door with her right, and walked with difficulty to the tack room. She set the saddle down on the rack with a grateful sigh and placed the blanket on the rest of the blanket pile. Grabbing her grooming box, she returned to Morrigan. First she ran the curry comb all through her horse's coat, then she brought out the hoof pick and proceeded to clean the inside of her mares's hoofs, lastly she ran a comb through Morrigan's mane and tale. Clarice stepped back and admired her horse. Realising she forgot something, she went to the feed room and came back with four alfalfa cubes. She gave one to each horse.

Blowing a stray bit of hair out of her eye, Clarice left the sable.
There was a slight tingling on the back of her neck.

Tehra awoke a few hours later, looking at the clock. It was around six thirty. She sighed to herself, deciding to go ahead and get up. As Tehra walked to her mirror to straighten to stray strands of pink hair, she vaguely recalled hearing about B.A.N.D. performing at the club tonight. She sighed lightly to herself as she gazed towards her closet where her 'superhero' uniform was kept. Tehra was rather tired from moving and heroing. It was not a difficult decison. Delmor could survive without her antics for one evening- and besides, if a riot was encited it would probably be good for her to be there. So Tehra grabbed her outfit and her blade and placed them hidden in her car, taking them just in case. And Tehra set out for the club to perhaps enjoy her night, or fight just like normal. Regardless, she would get more sleep tonight than usual.

User ImageUser ImageRowena had been sitting for weeks. Without moving. in silence. counting beads.

And drinking bitter tea.

This was not what she'd planned on when she signed on with Lama Akar. He'd promised to teach her powers that came only with mental clarity, and this sitting still thing was so not it. How was it supposed to help her achieve control over herself and others? Rowena had been fuming over that in the silence of the meditation nook her father had paid to have built in their house, and finally raised her concerns with Lama Akar after a longer session during their tea break.

"Because when you can control your body, your mind will follow. And when you can control both, others will follow you."

It was another cryptic and vague response from the master. For an entire month Lama Akar had avoided every question and that left her only with more questions. Even her academic studies had been vague and frustrating. He required more of her than anyone at DUHS ever had, and surprisingly she'd been meeting his requirements well enough, but she wanted more. She was supposed to learn how to control others from him, and she had barely even learned how to control herself. It was frustrating and she couldn't take it anymore, being used to getting what she wanted or taking it from others. Slamming down her tea, Rowena lashed out at her poor teacher, "You were supposed to teach me how to control my mind and show me how that would control others. All I have learned to do so far is count beads! If my father knew you were doing such a terrible job I'm sure he'd never have pulled me out of school! I can't believe he trusts you so much, you don't know anything at all about other people! You just know how to sit and count!"

"Calm, child, and sip your tea. It all comes in time..."

"I don't want it to come in time! My mental training has barely included anything with controlling other things. Just once you showed me how to feel the energy around me and you tried to help me move it and then we never went back to it. Why can't we do more things like that? Those are the things I really need to know!"

"If that's what you feel, Little One, we may practice that when you finish your tea."

"Fine!" Rowena spat, finishing all her tea at once out of spite, "Can we start now?"

"First you must calm down." Sighing, Rowena relaxed the tension in her shoulders, though she was silently fuming. "Good, do you remember how to begin? I want you to imagine the energy in the palm of your hand, work it into a ball, and then try to pass it to me."

I'll do more than that you dolt... Rowena did know how to begin, and secretly she'd been attempting them while she was supposed to be sleeping. Quickly she got it going and formed a field of energy in between her hand. In her frustration she could feel the hot energy swirling around, and even though she couldn't see it she'd trusted that it was there. She felt it move, and then quickly passed it to Lama Akar, imagining it keeping it's form. He seemed to receive it. Good. If he said I hadn't done it right I'd have strangled the s**t out of him.

After just a moment's pause, Lama Akar's eyes grew wide and his hands went up to his neck. He seemed to be having trouble breathing. Rowena began to panic and watched him fall to his knees as he struggled to breathe as if something were wrapped around his neck. Finally, he seemed to recover. Looking distraught after catching his breath, all Lama Akar could say was "I am calling your father."

She returned home from the concert, glad to have a prom date, but disappointed to have not gotten any criminals that night. Tehra was willing however, to take the night off to sleep. Sleep was something she dearly missed and would love to experience more of. Tehra smiled softly to herself as she unlocked her door and walked in, only to feel an odd familiar presence. Immediately the girl bolted around to try and find him, wondering why on earth he had followed her.

"In here Tehra...." said the unmistakable velveteen voice, though she'd only heard it once. Tehra turned to see the beautiful, haunting man- a vision from the night she had changed- the very reason for her existence- leaning against the doorway of her bedroom, the moonlight cutting his silhouette in half and casting him in an eerie lovely glow.

She stood there and stared at him for a moment, trying to fathom what Damien was doing in her town, much less her apartment. "Damien why are you here.. I mean what do you think you're doing I'm not a child... I can't have you he-"

"Shhh child..." the fallen angel said as he placed a finger to her lips. "There are dangers out there you cannot yet even understand, much less fight them off. You are new to the dark world of fallen angels, and you are their target..." the gentility in his voice had faded into a biting warning.

"What are you talking about Damien..." Tehra asked as she continued to stare up at his tall frame.

Damien motioned to the couch. "Have a seat Tehra, and I will explain... but don't be afraid, I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying here with you, calling myself your cousin so odd questions won't be asked." He placed a strand of hair behind her ear and looked into her eyes, they were crimson right now. "I'm going to protect you... I won't let them kill you and take away the life I gave you..."

User Image Tommy skidded to a stop, he took a deep breath and felt like screaming in joy, he had super powers! He laughed happily, he didn't feel tired from that run, his legs wern't sore, he hadn't even broken a sweat, this was great! He walked to the front door and walked in, he looked at the clock, he had made it home with seven minutes to spair. He sighed in happiness, then a new mission came to his mind, a mission that would deside the direction of the rest of his life.....what would his costume look like. He instantly began to think up designs, putting the notes on the table for his dad and headed upstairs to compair hero costumes, then he realized, he need a hero name.

He thumbed his chin thinking, his power was speed...super speed...something around that. He smiled, he would figure something out after he made his costume.

Tehra sat in shocked silence as Damien finished explaining the world he was from. The other fallens didn't like her and Damien, because they did good, they killed evil fallens and ruined attempts at hell to affect people by killing those that are possessed by it. They also had too much freetime, enjoying the pursuit and injury of certain fallen angels that had 'betrayed' them. Not to mention the fact that Damien had already detected that Delmor was a rather unsafe and mysterious town. So here he was. Damien was going to train her and educate her, so she wouldn't lose this new life.

Damien watched her sit there for a few moments, letting it soak in. He then placed his hand on her shoulder and met her eyes, his gentle. "Go to sleep Tehra, you look quite tired really. I'll stay in your other room, alright?"

Tehra nodded and drew in a breath. She stood up and waved a quick goodnight to Damien, who smiled and waved back. After that, Tehra went into her room and promptly crashed. It was a lovely 10:30, a time far earlier than Tehra was used to.

User Image Tommy smirked, after hours of work, his time in home ec class paying off, he had made a very...embarassing costume. He lifted it, a full body jump suit that went to his ankles, wrists and up his neck. The mask covered his entire head, with round black eyes, the forhead and top of the head had a metal plate attached. The boots and gloves were simple, the whole thing colored a bright yellow, "Well...it'll do..." He slipped it on, looking at himself in the mirror, "Snug..a little uncomtroble...but it'll do...now a name."

He tapped his chin looking up and down, "Super speed...goldish color scheme.....AHA!" He smirked and struck a heroic pose, "I am...The Golden Bullet!!!"

User Image It was silent in the bedroom. Not a creature was stirring, well, maybe the mouse as well as the damn crows in the garden. But overall, it didn't matter. As long as there wasn't country music on the radio, there was no reason for Chen to drag himself out of bed. Just then, the radio clicked on across the room and started playing some song about how a man's gonna do what a man's gonna do and that he's girl ain't his girl no mo'. With a murderous snarl, Chen slid out of the bed. He wasn't in the mood.

A few minutes later, the radio had enjoyed it's first and last experience of flying due to defenestration and died a noble death. The MP3 player plugged into the stereo system wired throughout the Loft was blasting German metal. Ah, how modern music made Chen feel. He knew too many Fae that enjoyed the ways of old and rejected new ideas, styles of clothes, music and the list went on and on. He knew the world was always changing, expecting it to stay the same was no better than expecting a child to never grow up; things would always change and Chen had seen enough know it was better to go along with it that to be a stick in the mud.

Chen studied his figure in the mirror. His glowing dusk orange eyes seemed stressed and tired today. Groaning, he finished with the newer ritual of daily cleansing. When I was a kid, it was rare to wash more than month and that amount was a lot. (I guess this is better than smelling.) God, when did I get so old... wait, that happened about when I turned 400.... At least compared to the humans around here. Sighing with nostalgia, Chen went to finish the other morning rituals, such as wearing a new set of clothes everyday...
~~~~~~~~~~
Locking the door behind him, also a newer ritual, Chen headed out to do nothing in particular. Carita had left last night, it was her last day. But no matter, he decided to hurry up with his doing of nothing.
