Congratulations you're a father. Nickle looked down at the small wide eyed girl he'd been left alone with. Well perhaps left alone wasn't right, abandoned at the mercy of was probably the best phrasing. Left with a " Here you go her name is Mareike, she probably wants to go play have a nice day" and then ever so gently forced outside. Infact Nickle was pretty positive they'd locked the door behind him. If it weren't for the fact that Nickle was aware that he was expected to return eventually he would have expected the building to go up in a puff of smoke the minute he was out the door. Honestly, just becuase the girl was bit.. rambunctious, or so they said, was no reason to to treat her or him like an unwanted guest. It was good thing he hadn't had any questions at the time. of them. For the moment however he was walking Mareike home, watching her step on every innocent worm and bug she came across and smile all the while. Even when there was nothing there to step on she seemed to be engaged in some sort of game of hopscotch only she could see. " Mareike do you want to stop on the way home for something to eat?" It wouldn't hurt to spoil her a little bit on the first day, even if they didn't make a habit of eating out. Her orange eyes stared right ahead as she kept moving but the center one slid right to look at him ." Milk" she said firmly. Nickle raised an eyebrow, wasn't she a demanding little thing, well at least she wanted something healthy. " Ok we'll stop at a restaurant and get you something to eat and some milk. " All in all this parenting business seemed much easier than the books had said it was going to be.

I am starting to wonder if I was cut out to be a parent. At the same time I am also starting to wonder if perhaps Mareike is just a very difficult child. I've never had any trouble with children I've babysat in the past but I just can't seem to figure out what to do with her. Penny say it's a combination of my lack of twenty-four hours childcare experience and the fact that Mareike is a particularly energetic and fussy child
Energetic I can certainly agree with, I don't think she's really settled down since she's gotten here. Though I suppose that could just be nerves since we haven't known each other that long. Either way the girl is usually running about the house or running her mouth. Something about her always needs to be doing something, except when she sleeps. Aside from that middle eye of her which stays open she seems to go into a sort of completely frozen state when she sleeps. I'm pretty positive she never rolls or moves at all since she's always in the same position when I go to wake her up in the morning. It'll take at least a week to be sure though.
Like all children she hates the word no and throws fits if Penny or I say it. Fortunately she seems to be content to scream herself hoarse or throw stuffed animals around until her little body is exhausted when that happens. Again though only time will tell if this is a permanent habit or not.
Keeping her hair up appears to be important becuase if it gets in her way she gets far more irritated than she should and I'm worried she might try and cut it off or something. Which reminds me to finish hiding all the sharp objects. Apparently I did a very bad job of childproofing the house.
I've only got fifteen minutes before she wakes up from her afternoon nap so I'm going to go make her a snack, frequent feedings seem to keep her happiest, I'll write more when I have time.

Leaning those ABC's and 123's " A is for apple A is for apple A is for A is " " Mareike stop that or I'm taking the batteries out again." Nickle yelled at his daughter from the kitchen. The girl had been manipulating her touch and learn book for 3 days now. The book meant to be an educational tool that allowed her to press pictures and be told the names of letters numbers and animals. However Mareike seemed to get the most pleasure of of repeatedly touching the buttons for fun cutting off the messages and irritating the hell out of the rest of the household. The sound of soft footsteps flooded Nickle's ears a warning that the thistle haired young girl was approaching. " There's too many letters, I'm bored gimme the animals." Please and thank you were not really parts of Mareike's vocabulary as of yet and Nickle knew it was his own fault. wanting her to settle nicely into the household for the first few months he'd spoiled her. Starting tomorrow she was going to learn some. Turning away from the sink full of dishes he'd been washing Nickle looked at Mareike and just shook his head. " You can learn your animals later you have to learn the letters and numbers now so you can go to pre-school." It wasn't that Nickle didn't love spending time with his daughter but socialization was important and the pre-school in question was part of the the society's private run education system so it would be good for Mareike to get introduced to those with whom she'd be spending most of her time as she grew up. Mareike pouted and her Orange main eyes darkened, she stomped a foot on the linoleum floor before turning and dissertation back into the living room. " ess is for sweet, ess is ex, ess ex " Nickle groaned softly and wondered where exactly Mareike had learned that combination, probably Penny. well at least she was learning right?

It seems as of late your child is experiencing 'bursts' of speed that seem unnatural. Trying to catch her is nearly impossible and you wonder if you should contact the facility about this occurance.

Nickle climbed up the last of the basement stairs in time to spot a small blue and green object blur by at eye level and then crash. With a long suffering sigh he peered cautiously out out the doorway and turning his head left spotted the now broken plant pot that had been sitting on the hallway windowsill. It was now several pieces of fractured ceramic intermingled with dark rich potting soil and cactus.
Turning his head to the right Nickle was in no way surprised to see Mareike standing at the other end of the hall, bag of marbled tied to her waist and slingshot resting in her hands. Penny had given her the sling shot a week ago stating that the toy was good for her, would give her something to focus her energy on. So far the only thing this had done was bring uncountable destruction to the house. Sighing again Nickle leveled his daughter with a glare. " Mareike what have I told you about breaking things with that?"
The maroon skinned girl frowned " There was a spider I was trying to kill it without touching it."
Nickle couldn't see any spiders anywhere near the mess but then again any spider was probably smart enough to hightail it when that happened. Added to that was the fact that Mareike didn't lie, good or bad she defended her actions. Shaking his head Nickle fully entered the hallway and directed his attention at his daughter again.
" Ok well I know you meant well but we don't kill spiders with marbles or rocks. From now on just use paper or a shoe." Somehow Nickle was sure she's manage to break things that way was well but at least not as much.
" I'm going to clean up the broken pot but you need to sweep up the dirt, don't you give me that look young lady it may have been an accident but you're still responsible." The young man watched as Mareike frowned further and stamped her foot in irritation.
" When we're done you can go down into the new playroom " Fine he was resorting to bribery to avoid a fit but at the moment Nickle didn't care. he'd spent the last two hours finishing renovating the basement into what he considered a safe zone a place where Mareike could play to her hearts content without hurting anyone or anything.
" Ok then I'll go get the broom" In the blink of an eye nearly faster than the marble had gone Mareike disappeared and Nickle found himself frowning again. When did she get that fast?

Beating the odds Swings. A favoured recess past time for many child swing set were also a precious resource. There were never enough swings to go around and despite the rules no teach ever bothered to limit a kid to just five minutes. This meant that as soon as the recess bell rang it was an all out free for all battle to get to the swings first. At least amongst the lower grades there was pandemonium. Rules about indoor and outdoor shoes were ignored. Jacked were grabbed haphazardly off of hooks, out of lockers or just plain ignored if possible. Said jackets were put on , on the fly so it wasn't unusual to see a small child racing across the tarmac and onto the soccer field with one arm in a neon pink jacket and the other sleeve trialing behind them in the wind like a banner. Mareike thought it was highly unfair, the swingset designated for the lower five grades was a ridiculous amount away from the doors where they were let out. Getting to the swings meant you needed to bolt from your classroom door, be one of the first ones out of the hallway doors and one of the faster kids. Age didn't really becuase even if older kids were stronger speed was always hard to predict. Plus there were always the few four legged children who couldn't use the swings themselves but might be bribed with an extra snack to get to the swingset and reserve one of the four seats for you. Mareike's class has to line up orderly at the door before the bell. If they weren't waiting quietly they didn't get to go out right away. Even if they were waiting quietly they had to leave orderly as well. This made things harder for the maroon skinned girl. In addition to that maneuvering the halls carelessly lead to crumpled feathers and bruised which which meant Mareike was in the office the whole recess. explaining why she had kicked the hell out of the culprits. Mareike only had too legs and she was far to fond of her lunch or snacks to ever share them just for a spot on the swings. Still, the determined little girl was beating the odds. On the days she wasn't waylaid by classmates or in the office for fighting Mareike was finding she got to the swings more and more. Every day she was just a bit faster, her legs pumped harder and she covered ground with speed she didn't think she had. Some days if she got to the swings first during a lunch break and she was feeling generous Mareike was willing to take only five or so minutes before giving up her swing.

Ugly, the thing was downright ugly and offensive. Really Mareike was doing her neighbor a favour by destroying it. The whole neighborhood would look much better without it sitting out on Mrs. Bradley's front porch for all the world to gawk at. Though to be fair it wasn't the only orange monstrosity in the neighborhood, there were several others. This one however looked directly at Mareike's house and that's why it had to go, first.
Using all three eyes to gage the correct angle and distance Mareike loaded a rock into her slingshot. She pulled back slowly and then release the band allowing the sudden release of tension to send the large chunk of granite through the air, across the street and into the face of Mrs Bradley's jack o lantern. Just as she'd wanted Mareike destroyed two close together teeth leaving a large gap at the bottom of the things mouth. good for a first shot though Marike imagined it would take about 10 more to completely puncture and disintegrate the face that have been carved out.
All it should have taken was one solid kick but Nickle had been very firm about not touching other people's property. Mareike assumed that since it was the rocks and not her that did the damage she wasn't technically breaking his rules.
" You're Nickle kid huh? Well you're kinda cute."
Mariek as was startled by the sudden appearance of someone beside her. Even with her eyes focused on the pumpkin she should have seen them approaching. She frowned and blew thistle haired bangs out of her eyes. " I'm Mareike yes, who're you." What do you want was left unspoken.
The girl, tall and blond haired with light purple skin smiled. "I'm Cerisa, Nickle asked me to stop buy and take you to play with some kids his friends have." The other girl eyes the partially destroyed pumpkin " I have a feeling I know just who to introduce you to."
" What's the password" Mareike wasn't to go anywhere with strangers who didn't know the password. She wasn't sure if she wanted this Cerisa girl to know it or not.
"black licorice jelly bean" Cerisa's golden eyes seemed to glitter almost and Mrs. Bradly's pumpkin collapsed as if someone had deflated it like a baloon. " I promise you'll have fun."
Mariek grinned wide and shoved her slingshot into the back pocket of her pants. Why hadn't Nickle let her meet this girl forever ago?. " lets go."

Rescue failure: Adriel, Mareike.
Adriel ..had woken up and found himself isolated in a room, there was pain in his forhead, though not the same kind of pain. It wasn't a build up of pressure anymore...and he could think straight. Though...he was exhausted. And felt violated in many places on his body, he lay on the bed a moment just listening to his breathing before sitting up. He was surprised to find himself...within a ... bubble. Blinking he felt panic rise in his chest, where was he? What was he in? He went to get up and was lucky enough that he was strapped down in the bed, and that only a IV drip was connected to his arm. He gently pulled it behind him as he stumbeled to the edge of his confines..and touch the wall. It yeiled to his touch but it was very thick and not so easily punctured. Trembling he
staggered back over to his bed and sat down heavily on the edge. He was confused...the last couple of days had been a blur...though he felt the heat rise in his face he knew he had done something...he probably shouldn't of.
Mareike was practically skipping as she made her way towards the facility she'd been adopted from. The maroon skilled girl hoped it would be more interesting than last time when there had only been a boring party and then a lazy guy had escaped for a little bit. Of course Mareike had plans of her own this time.
She was going to go see her father, not Nickle who took care of her and loved her but her blood father who made her look like she did and was supposed to be a demon. Nickle said she was supposed to wait for an appointment but that wouldn't do, they'd only watch her and not let her ask all the important questions which had adult words in them like sex .
" Bye" She said without looking back. Serra was supposed to be " playing" with Mareike today but the older girl had agreed to help her get to her destination without her father knowing. With that Mareike watched the front entrance of the facility for a chance to sneak in past anybody who might be watching.
[16:23] Jayoku -work work...: No one was paying the girl any mind, as if they did they reconized her red skin tone and decided it would be best to leave her alone. Wrath...or any child of wrath was to be left alone in their books. they knew what Shar was capable off...they didn't want to test the limits of its offspring.
Though a couple of techs were whispering rather loudly to each other as they past the girl, although giving her wide berth.
"Can you believe they had to operate on that child? and what a mess! I can't believe Almas didn't warn anyone else ..." Whispered on the other nodded their head.
"Yeah...I expect there is going to be a lot..of requests for maternity leave i the coming months...I am sure glad I wasn't there." Whispered the other tech who was female. SHe shook her head as if she couldn't believe it had happened in the first place.
"That kid...is still in isolation isn't he?" She whispered back the other female tech nodded her head. "Yeah...no one is sure how long he will be in there...given..his nature." She continued with a nod of her head.
Mareike nearly stopped at the techs words. Surgery, pregnancy leave, child? Kids weren't allowed to have sex Nickle had told her that before and sex was the only way you got babies. Brows furrowed she decided that discovering who the adults were talking about was more important than finding her father.
Turning around she grabbed the back of the jacket on one and tugged hard demanding attention. " Who are you talking about?" All three of the girl's eyes were focused on the unfortunate tech.
The woman nearly gave a shriek as she was grabbed from behind. She half turned and was being glared down by a trio of eyes. The other woman hurridely got out of arms reach of the girl.
"I..its confidental...y..you shouldn't scare us like that!" The woman attempted to chasty but it was apparant she was too scared of the girl. The poor tech in teh girls grasp was trying very hard to tug her jacket free. "Yes...confidental...and were is your garudian?" She asked trying to spot an adult that may be crazy enough to look after a girl like this.
Mareike took a step towards the struggling tech and growled " You tell me right now or .." she paused to think " I'll rip your tongue out so you can never talk again." Keeping the orange mains eyes on her victim Mareike let the singer golden one keep watch over the other tech, just in case they tried to pull something.
" Oh and Nickle's not here so it's just us " Mareike replied. Nobody was here to stand in her way and as the urge to hurt this woman increased she was glad becuase stopping would be boring.
THe woman gave a shudder as the little girl threatened her. Weither or not she believed the girl could do it she didn't want to test her luck.
"It is just a boy who was brought in...he was suffering from...uh...problems with his sin aspect...we had to operate on him.." She replied hasitly. She didn't want the boss to know she had leaked information but also didn't want to get hurt.
[16:44] {LadyUmbra}: "what was his name?" Why where adults so stupid, why did a little girl have to ask so many questiosns to get one answer " and where is he now?"

[16:45] Jayoku -work work...: The woman looked as if she was going to resist and then just gave in.
"Adriel...his nam is Adriel...now please let me go!" She asked in a pleading manner. THe other woman looked as if she was about ready to bolt fromt he scene if things turned ugly.
[16:51] {LadyUmbra}: Red, all Mareike saw was red, adirel was her friend and he was hurt and these women, no these bitches were talking about him behind his back. it took only a split second for the girl to use both arms to shove the older women hard against the hallway wall. " tell me where Adriel is." There would be no more arguing and no more stalling, Mareike would leanr where her friend was and then she would rescue him. After that she was going to get the group togeather and burn this place down. How dare they do anything to Adriel and then blame him.

Satisfied she could take it from there Mareike kicked out at the techs left knee before whirling away and darting in the direction she believed was correct. She was pretty sure that woman wouldn't follow her for at least a few minutes which would give her time to find Adriel and hopefully get him out. the determined girl's heart jack hammered in her chest as she hoped that her friend wasn't badly hurt from his surgery. If so.. the girl's fists clenched tighter and the blood began to drain from them. If so it would not be pretty and Nickle might never forgive her.
Even having to slow going around the corners, at her current speed it didn't take Mareike long to find what she was looking for and without hesitation she pushed opened the door to the room that held her friend captive. " Adriel?"

[17:04] Jayoku -work work...: Adriel looked up as a voice entered his hearing. He blinked a couple times as he realized it was Marieke. He then jumped to his feet as he did a double take. "W..what ar..are you doing here?" He asked as he dragged his IV drip back towards the edge of the bubble he was in. His hand went to touch the wall as if he hoped he could come in contact with her. His tentacles even tried....the butted

[17:09] {LadyUmbra}: " Rescuing you." If everything wasn't still tinted with a red haze Mareike might have smiled. As it was her rage only built at the sight of the barrier between them. Still, she placed her hands against it near her friends tentacles. they seemed to be more upset than he was. " Are you ok?"

[17:11] Jayoku -work work...: He nodded his head slightly, they had cut his bangs for the operation and now one could see the two slits on his forhead easily. Though still a bit red and swollen from the procedure he had them covered with a bandaid before. "I..I think so....I havnt seen any one for hours...I don't remember why I am here...bu..but I think..I...d..did bad...things.." He murmured in reply.
[17:17] {LadyUmbra}: Mareike blinked and stared at her friend for a moment " you've got cuts on your heads. kinda like holes on a dolphin only smaller." She frowned and nibbled on her lower lip " I'm the bad one, you're the good one so you can't have done anything bad." A child's logic but a honest answer in the girl's mind.
" I'm gonna rescue you and take you home and you can live in my room but you'll have to sleep on a sleeping bag becuase boys and girls only share beds as adults."
Softer now with a bit less anger in her voice " I'm sorry." Mareike wasn't usually gentle with anyone including Adriel but he was hurt and it wasn't her fault and he didn't deserve it. when she yelled at him for being silly or punched him lightly for not listening she was being friendly in her own way. But she always had a reason to cause him pain theses people were just being cruel.
Blinking Adriel didn't understand what she meant, he reached up to touch his forhead and looked a bit starteled. His face went pale and then he shook his head at her commnet.
"I...i think we a..are both bad.." He replied with a very weak smile.
When she explained she was going to break him out of here he wasn't sure that was a good idea...but he nodded his head in agreement about the not sharing beds part. But he wasn't sure why she was apologizing.
"....Y..ou don't have to apologize...wh..hy are you? I ...wi..wish my mom..was here.." He murmured wondering what had happened to her.
"Bu...but wont you g..get in trouble getting me out?" he asked not wanting his friend to get herself in trouble because of him.
Mareike didn't consider Adriel bad at all but she wasn't in the mood to argue with him especially when he seemed so upset.
" I'm just sorry" she muttered " Move away from the wall so I can tear is down and don't worry I think I broke some lady's knee already I can't get in more trouble for breaking a wall." The thistle haired girl paused for a moment " Do you wanna go home to your mom instead?"
Parents were supposed to protect thier kids, t.v said so and nickle tried to protect Mareike even if she hated it. Why hadn't Adriel's mom protected him. Still, if he'd rather go back to her Mareike would try not to feel jealous.
Adriel knew his mother feared him, though she didn't always show it. As he got older she had learned to tolerate him rather than love him. At least in his eyes. He wasn't sure as he then shook his head and rubbed his arms, he was only wearing a hospital gown...he felt a bit exposed.
"Uh...you...I will go with you..." he replied as he looked to the floor and then backed up some. He was a bit worried since she mentioned breaking some ladies knee,....
Mareike nodded and a small smile graced her lips. Adriel had chosen her, despite everything else it looked like it was going to be a good day. suummoning her Mareike pulled her left fist back and then swung at the wall.
The girl wasn't certain if it was her own strength or the weakness of the plastic barrier but either way one solid punch had.. not worked. The bubble had given way to her fist but the thick plastic was merely stretching slightly but not opening as she'd wanted. in frustrating hse opened the fist and dragged her nails down the barrier.
Stretched plastic and sharp nails however didn't create a small rip in the bubble and that was all the girl needed to get started. Once the plastic was torn ripping it apart was much easier.
Adriel backed up a couple of steps, he felt...strange. Watching her as if mesmorized he touched his forhead as he felt something weird happen. The slits had opened, he could feel the small crevices...but..he didn't know why they had opened. There was no smell, no substance but it was the first time he felt them do this. He swallowed wondering what they had done to him in the operation...
Mareike too had noticed the slits open. really did look like a pair of tiny blowholes. Maybe the air in the bubble had been bad and Adriel was trying to breathe in the normal good stuff.
Both hands on either side of the Whole she's made Mareike grownled lowed and yabked her hands in opposite directips ripping a large tear in the barrier. Or atleast large enough for a small child to wiggle in through. Doing So the dark skinned girl looked at Adriel curiously for a moment. Something about him seemed different right now.
" What do we do about that" she asked pointing to the IV attached to Adriel.
[18:13] Jayoku -work work...: Adriel smiled as she managed to break in, Fuu and Chii were thrilled to finally be able to reach her and struggeled forward to hug Mareike. "T...thank you so much." He murmured as he then looked to the IV she was pointing at. he then looked to the needle in his arm and closing his eyes a moment and then tugged it free. He didn't know that the IV was actually helping surpress the
[18:14] Jayoku -work work...: pheremones. He then went to give Marieke a hug. THere would still be time before the effects of the IV would be gone...and his pheremones be at full force. "Thank you so much. I ..I am so happy your here." He replied as Chii and fuu went about wrapping themselves around her happily.
The young girl was more than bit shocked when Adriel simply pulled the needle out of his arm. That probably wasn't how you were supposed to do that.
She smiled a bit as his tenatacles, since when did they have names?, wrapped around her in a hug. it was good to be close to her friend again. Although there must have been something wrong with the air in the bubble because Marike felt a bit warm and itchy.
" We should go now, I think the air is bad and we don't want them to catch you again."
[18:27] Jayoku -work work...: Nodding his head he was more than happy to leave. "Yes please let us get out of here." He replied as he took her hand and then had to persuade the limbs to release her as well. "I don't want us to get caught..." He continued his voice quieter.
Mareike glared at the person standign between her and freedom " go away, I'm not letting you hurt Adriel again"( done)
The figure in their way was non other than the owner of the facility, he was...strangely wearing a mask on his face, so it was hard to read his expression.
"Hurt him? It was only a minor procedure I assure you. Something that was needed." He answered moving his hand to reveal another mask contained in their grasp.
Adriel backed up a couple of steps; he knew this man....this man..terrified him.
Mareike lifted her upper lip in a snarl. " You took him away, you stuck him in a bubble and stuck things in him. he was upset, you hurt him." Mareike wasn't sure what to do at this point Adriel was scared, this man didn't seem to be naturally backign away from her and she wasn't sure if he had help coming and thus the other mask. ( done)
