[New Beginnings] - Solo Rp. Getting Cece.

Elda never planned on having any children. After all, children where something that came from years of a meaningful and lasting relationship with a member of the opposite sex; at least in Elda’s old-fashioned mind they did.

So how had she ended up going home with a baby in tow . . . ?

She’d only gone to the labs to research for her upcoming novel. The great Dr. Akari was a legend in her field of biogenetics; a theme that would play heavily into plot of Elda’s upcoming story. An appointment with her was a big deal.

The interview had gone wonderfully. Elda felt she had all the necessary information to make the futuristic biogenetics seem plausible. Before leaving, however, Akari had encouraged her to explore the public parts of the lab at her leisure.

With nothing better to do, Elda meandered the vast grounds of the lab without worry or care. She didn’t even feel guilty about not working, for once; she was still on a high from the information she’d gained through the interview. It was a rare treat when she actually had someone who specialized in something she planned to write around tell her everything she needed to know. It made the pre-writing legwork much more bearable.

At a point in her wanderings she stumbled across a young lady walking with a very young child. The baby, who had only just reached the toddling stage, was adorable and Elda felt herself drawn to the little girl.

The baby was one of the most beautiful children Elda had ever seen in her life. Her hair was golden blonde and shined magnificently in the sunlight, and her bright green eyes, seemed to draw her in instantly. The most unusual thing about the child were a scattering of small dots under both her eyes, and pointed, elf-like, ears. The girl bounded with energy, even for one so young.

“Who is she?” She found herself asking the lady, and the other woman smiled.

“Her name is Cecelia.”

“Why is she here?” Elda wondered aloud, she had supposed the children only hatched from their cabbages after they were placed in a home. The lady bit her lip lightly.

“Well-“ She began. “Sometimes, we place a cabbage in a home and it doesn’t always work out.” She frowned sadly. “Cecelia is one of those children; we get them back, and then keep them here and at the Liberty Center until they can be placed with a new family.”

“Does that happen often?”

“Oh no, not at! Cece is the exception, not the rule.”

“Oh.” Elda lowered herself until she was eye level with the tiny girl. “Hello, Cecelia.” She smiled. “How are you?”

The little blonde cooed happily, and placed a chubby hand on Elda’s face, causing her heat to melt. She looked up at the other woman.

“What sort of home is she looking for. . . ?” The woman smiled.

“The kind I think you can provide.”

[Mixed Reactions] -- Solo Rp. Elda brings Cece home to meet the family.

From the Diary of Pastele . . .

Guess wut! Ima big sister twoday! Eldee brought home babe. Its a girl and her name is cecelia, but I call her cece four short. Its cool not bing the lilest any moor. Caia (Acaia) an Elle (Elda) says im gonna half two b a gud sister, lik they r! Im gonna try real hard two b the bestest big sissy ever. Caia told i that cece won’t b lil fourevar she will get big, lik people do and sugar fairies don’t. But that OK, ill still lik her!

From the Diary of Amarelle. . .

So, we’ve got another kid in the house, as if Pastele isn’t enough of a
mess as it is. I hope Elda understands that kids take time, and make messes, and usually smell bad. I hope she doesn’t expect us to take too much care of it. That would be a real mess! I mean we’ll play with it, but I’m no good at cleaning and stuff and Pastele lives in her own little world. But Acaia said we have to do everything we can to help Elda right now, so I’ll work on it; a little. A very little.

From the Diary of Acaia . . .

Miss. Elda brought home a child from her research trip to the Cabbage Patch today, and I must say I was really surprised! I often get the feeling she only barely puts up with the three of us, especially close to deadline day; I don’t know how she expects to get anything done in the next few weeks with a new child in the house. I’ve talked to the other two about helping out where we can, but Pastele doesn’t really understand what’s going on, and Amarelle’s not too pleased with what she sees as competition. Well, here’s hoping we can make this work somehow.

From the Diary of Elda Chan . . .

I must say I was very worried about how the girls were going to react to Cece, but they handled it beautifully. Acaia explained what it was going to mean to have a baby in the house. I think Pastele’s very excited. So is Amarelle, she’d just never admit to it. Acaia’s worried that I’m gonna be pressed for time and energy with a child in the house, but she always worries too much. I don’t think there’s anything Cece can dish out that between the three of us we can’t handle.

[Cat's in Trees] - Cece and Taki meet at the park

"I'm gonna go out and ride my bike..." Taki said, leaning into the office, hanging off the doorjamb, dangerously close to falling. "Okay?"

"What?" Calder sat up, blinking blearily towards his adopted son. (He really needed to replace that lightbulb; he was going to make himself blind working in the half-darkness like that.) "Oh. Bike. Sure. Just be home before it gets dark. I'll have something made for dinner."

"Mhmm," Taki replied skeptically and then trotted out of their apartment, tail swishing happily as he hurried down the stairs, managing to sound like a herd of elephants. One of the less appealing cat-traits he'd acquired, it seemed. As he rounded the corner towards the bike rack, a small ginger tabby appeared. "Hiya Ashling," the cat boy said cheerfully, and unlocked the bike lock, leaning down to scratch the cat's head then lift her up into the basket on the front of the bike. "Let's go for a ride. I think we should go to the park!"

It didn't take long to get to the little community park, and it was a nice afternoon, so there were plenty of children with their parents. Taki parked his bike in the rack, and the cat hopped down to follow him as he started towards the edge of the park with the climbing trees.

“Cece!” Elda cried warily from her seat on the bench overlooking the sandbox. “Don’t!” The small child was making a mad crawl for freedom, toppling headfirst over the box’s wooden edge. Elda sighed and went to retrieve the baby where she lay in a disgruntled heap after her short (read: 4 inch) fall.

“Maybe something where you have less of a chance of falling, or escaping. . .” Elda muttered, scooping the child into her arms. “How about we go sit in the shade and you can play with the grass?” Cecelia smiled with delight, anything green was good with her.

Taki and Ashling had perched themselves securely about ten feet up and were overviewing the park. Usually Irelia would be here to hatch nefarious plots and create mischief with him, but she'd managed to get grounded... again. Of course, the nefarious plots were usually the reasons for her groundings. Besides, Ashling was perfectly happy with laying up here, and basking in the dapples of sunlight that made it through the leaves.

It was Taki that first spotted Cece and Elda, making their way over towards this section of the park. Ashling didn't pay them any mind, but Taki's bright green eyes were fixed on the pair.

“Here we are.” Elda said happily, plopping the little elf girl down in the luscious green grass that grew thick under the soft shade of the tree, completely oblivious to the boy and his cat laying in the branches above them.

Cecelia began to amuse herself at once by pulling out thick handfuls of grass and piling them sloppily on the hem of her dress. She smiled her baby smile as the soft blades ran through her fingers.

It was a miracle the boy was not toppling off the branch, the way he was leaning over to peer down at the baby. "Ashling, you think I should go down and say hi?" he murmured.

The tabby gave him a look that spoke volumes. Why should she be concerned with what he did? Taki ignored the cat arrogance and started to clamber back down the branches, landing in the grass on the other side of the tree with a grunt. The ground was always so much harder than it looked. And he had new grass stains on his jeans. Calder was going to kill him.

Elda had been minding her own business, leaning sleepily against the tree and keeping one eye on the baby escape artist sitting at her feet, when she heard the sounds of Taki’s landing. Sitting up swiftly, she looked around trying to identify where the noise had come from. It was about this time that Cecelia looked upward into the tree’s branches and noticed Ashling curled high in the branches above her head.

“Meow!” She squealed with delight. Animal noises ranked in the top coolest things ever as far as Cece was concerned. Real animals, even better. . .

Ashling peered down, ears pointing vaguely in Cece's direction, and Taki rounded the tree, rubbing at his knees absently, but his eyes were on Elda. "Hi, I'm Taki... What's your name?"

Calder had scolded him about talking to strangers too, but his climbing tree was right there. If they tried to kidnap him, he could climb right back up. There wasn't much to that logic, but it didn't bother Taki at all. Certainly didn't stop him from being friendly.

Elda smiled at the unusual boy who had suddenly dropped into their presence. “I’m Elda.” She said politely.

“And this little monster,” she gestured at Cecelia, who was still staring upward at the kitty. “Is Cecelia, or Cece for short.”

"Nice to meet you." Taki said, smiling brightly, then followed Cecelia's gaze towards his cat. "Oh, and that's Ashling. So uh... Is Cece from the Patch too?" he asked, tail twitching as he crept over to settle into the grass a little way away from the two of them.

“Yes, she is actually.” Elda admitted a bit hesitantly. “But, um. . . I never got to see her as a cabbage. I went to the Patch looking for a child and ended up adopting Cece.”

She smiled pleasantly; as Cecelia, having lost interest in the cat who obviously wasn’t gonna come close enough for her to play with, crawled over and settled herself in Elda’s lap.

“But how did you guess where she was from?” Elda wondered aloud.

“Cause... she's got pointy ears." He pointed towards Cecelia, his own cat ears flattening a little against his head. "And I think I saw her around a while back. I forget when, but I'm pretty sure it was her," he said cheerfully. "And I'm from there too. I mean... not that it's hard to tell..." He rubbed at his cheek, shrugging slightly.

“I understand. . .” Elda told him, snuggling Cecelia close to her chest. “I’m just so new to the environment, and the children and people.” She smiled. “I hope to get to know all of them that we can manage, and you’re the very first one!”

"Wow! Really? You'll have to meet Irelia! She's my best friend, and Riley too. And uhm... Dulc is nice, but I haven't seen her in a while..." Taki squinted in thought, and glanced up at the mewl from above them, as Ashling hopped nimbly down to land in the grass near Taki. "You'll have to meet my Papa, and Mr. Asher, too. They're both teachers you know."

“Really! That would be wonderful!” Elda smiled widely at the cat boy as Cece squealed in delight over the appearance of the kitty. “Cecelia is really a people person, and she loves meeting new people.”

[From the Diary of Elda Chan]

4/18/2008

Dear Diary,

I’m a tad worried about Cece. My little girl is very active, which I feel is good for a small child, but she doesn’t take to book learning at all. As a writer, this deeply concerns me.

I’ve been trying to get her ready for school, which she’ll hopefully be starting soon, but I can’t keep her focused even long enough to learn her basic alphabet. I was reading before I even started school, and I feel that helped me a lot; I wanted Cece to have that same advantage. But she’s picky.

She refuses to sit still and listen to any book I try to read her unless it’s something related to fairies, or princesses, or the like. But there are only a limited number of such books for young children, and she gets board if I read the same one too many times in a row.

I don’t know what to do anymore. She can’t count higher than ten, and the only reason she gets that high is from playing hopscotch for hours on end. I’m glad she has energy and enthusiasm for running around and playing, but I still want her to have brains.

I really don’t want this baby to turn out like some of the girls I knew in high school; the one’s who try to get by on their looks. I want more for her than popping her gum outside the boy’s locker-room and prancing around on the football field in short skirts. Not that I won’t support her if she does want to be a cheerleader, but I don’t want that to be the only thing she’s good at.

For now at least, all I can do is fight her tooth and nail to get her interested in things other than playing. We go to the library a lot, but I balance that with the park. We read at home for as long as I can get her to sit still for, but I still let her run and play.

The one and only non-physical thing she seems to have a passion for is drawing/coloring. But even then she’s too distracted to stay inside the lines of her coloring pages most of the time. I’m not sure what too do. Maybe I should get her tested for ADD or something, but I don’t really want to admit there’s anything seriously wrong with her.

I worry, mostly because that’s what mothers do best. I never understood why my mother worried about me, and I wasn’t half the trouble Cece can be.

[From the Diary of Elda Chan]

4/28/2008

Dear Diary,

I was right.

I got Cecelia tested. The news isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either.

She’s got minor attention deficient disorder (ADD). Thus, the sitting still and focusing issues. They don’t think it’s serious enough to medicate her or anything, which is probably good because I wouldn’t agree to the medication anyway. I don’t think young children should be medicated for anything that’s not a physical aliment. Aside from that, with her elf blood, I’m scared to wonder how they could affect her differently.

Anyway, they’ve decided to monitor her for now. She’s gonna go on to school on time, as planned. But if it gets in the way of her progress at school, we may have to consider other options.

After the results were back, her specialist sat us down and gave me some tips about working with her. Basically, it was things like keeping her stimulated and doing lots of hands-on learning. Things like play-dough, clay, glue, ect. He said to let her explore, and encourage her to move and stay physically active, but try to incorporate basic learning principles, and she’ll have no choice but to sponge them up.

For starters, I got us a yearly pass to the children’s hands-on history and science centers. I think these will really help her to get more interested in these subjects. The specialist said not to push learning on her, that she will pick things up at her own pace, but to help her out where she seems to be struggling. Lots of encouragement, but only help when she asks for it, absolutely needs it.

I’m a tiny bit worried about what’s gonna happen to Cece when I’ve got another deadline approaching. Now, when I’m only doing pre-writing, it’s not a big deal. I’ve got loads of free time to work with her and shower on the attention. But when it gets close to deadline I’m going to be too tried to do much more than the basic care.

But I guess we’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it. As for now, she’s being a trooper. I don’t think this little snag will hinder her in the long run of things. I believe that my child is a naturally sweet, loving, playful, and highly energetic person, who just doesn’t have a good head for conventional schooling. She’ll learn what she needs to know, but she’ll do it on her own terms.

Saved for make-up solo. . . . <3

Trinityblue
Please forgive me! working the Kaeden side of gift getting for a girl IS DIFFICULT (you know... like... resisting the urge for him to give her not-living butterflies in a jar... or stuck to some board...). I know it's taken forever and past date and and--

i sorry.....

Her gifts:
1) Butterfly hair clips
2) Butterfly theme stickers with a sticker book.
3) Butterfly stationary, with paper and gel pins with little plastic butterflies on the top.
4) Pink gloves with butterflies sown on the back of the hand. (Obviously not done by anyone other than the maker for said gloves)
5) Pink and purple stripped scarf with white butterfly like images going up and down the scarf. All wrapped in bright paper, though the wrapping job looks as if it gave the wrapper a hard time.

You can see the theme that had been gone with.... I hope it's okay ^^;;
