The Gilded Butterfly was the one of the most popular shops for young girls clothing around. Located in an old town house, covered in creeping pink roses, the place seemed magical to almost any child who passed through its doors. It housed an astonishing collection of little girls’ dresses, outfits, shoes, and assorted accessories. Including clothes that were borderline dress-up games only fair.

Cecelia was fascinated with the shop; and every time she visited clothes of every style and color assaulted her senses. Pastels, whites, crème, ivory, gold were the heavy color scheme and her imagination ran wild.

“I’m a princess!” She told herself, looking in a full-length mirror at her reflection, dressed in a poofy pink and gold dress.

Sophia really liked shopping with her mother, though often times it might seem like she didn't. This was because she always felt guilty asking for things and seeing as Rye tended to take her to the shops that made her child's heart go wild, it was a bit torturous at times.

Today was looking like one of those days. Rye was taking her to a place she had claimed was "aboslutely darling". Sophia followed Rye into the cute shop, her eyes wandering along the roses and the pretty butterfly sign before they ducked inside.

She had to blink for a moment, letting her eyes adjust to the new lighting. It wasn't too dark, but it had been extremely sunny outside in comparison. Once she could see better her eyes widened a little. The store was just filled with color and shine, making her heart jump excitedly in her chest. It was amazing!

Cece danced around the shop in the pretty dress, feeling every inch the princess she strongly believed she was. Bounding ungracefully from between the racks of clothes, she paid no attention to where she was going, until her dance piloted her into Sophia’s path, and she collided with the other girl, landing in a messy heap.

Sophia squeaked loudly as she tumbled back, nearly knocking over a potted plant. She avoided it by landing akwardly on her hip and kicking aside one sandal. Her short skirt flared up from her fall and gave a view that would have other kids her age gayly chanting "I see London, I see France, I see Sophie's underpants!". She quickly tried to tug it down as she righted herself. She still wasn't sure what had bumped into her.

Rye laughed lightly, "You girls alright?" Kids would be kids. Neither looked hurt by the little collision.

Cecelia, sat up quickly, and looked around, trying to figure out what she’d collided with. “I’m so sorry!” She cried, the moment she realized it’d been another child. “Are you hurt? Can I help you? Oh! I hope you’re okay!”

She bit her lip nervously. Why did she have to be such a klutz, she wondered.

"I'm...ok," Sophie nodded once she had stood up, simply glad there had been no laughing (outside of her mom of course) about her fall. She saw that the reason for her tumble was another girl, a pretty one too. Her attention immediately shifted to the clothes she was wearing.

"I like your dress," she blurted.

“Thank you!” Cece said happily, spinning in a circle to make the dress flounce up. “And I’m glad you’re okay!” She grinned at the other girl, she was very pretty, and Cece envied her hair.

“Are you looking for a dress too? Mine’s just for play. . . They let you play dress-up with the clothes here and it’s really really fun and I like it because there’s lots of pretty dresses and hats and, and stuff. . .” She gigged nervously, realizing she was babbling.

"Why don't you go and play," Rye suggested with a twinkle in her eye, "And if you find something you really like we can see about buying it, ok?" They hadn't come here specifically to pick something out, so she had no problem letting her daughter explore and enjoy herself for a little while.

"Ok Mommy," Sophia agreed quickly, far too captured by the clothing to overthink what they were doing. She clasped her hands gently in front of her and asked the other girl, "Where did you find your dress?" Then she added quickly as a forgotten after-thought, "I'm Sophia."

“Hi Sophia! I’m Cecelia.” She said energetically, waving her hand at the other girl. “And I got it over there on the dress racks.” She pointed to a large corner of the store that was filled with ruffles and frilly. “I bet we can find something you’ll like!” Cece babbles. “They have dresses in every color, ever.” Then, impulsively grabbing the other girls hand, she pulled her in the direction of the gowns.

"Ohhh~!" Sophia breathed in response as her eyes briefly darted across the room towards where Ceceli had pointed. But she was only able to get a glance at the frills and lace before she was dragged from her standstill. Quickly glancing at the other girl she righted her step and matched her pace. She didn't mind being led along...she was just as eager to find someone to wear as Cecelia seemed to be!

"Really? Do they have light blue? Or light pink?" she chirpped, blurting out some of her favorite colors.

“Of course they do!” Cece exclaimed with glee. “They have every color EVER!” She pulled the other girl to the dress racks, and then gave one of the heavy metal stands a push, making it spin and display all its wonderful colors thrown haphazardly together.

“I think I saw a blue and pink gown earlier.” Cece confided. “Let’s see if we can find it, or another dress that you like! Then we can both be princesses!”

Sophia was delighted at this prospect, watching the dresses sping about in a circular rainbow of lace and glitter. It seemed like every time she opened her mouth to say how much she liked the dress flitting by another caught her attention and her words got tangled in her mouth. It was only as a light blue dress laced in baby pink came into view that she managed to speak up.

"Oh!" She reached out, her fingers catching on the sleeve and causing the rack to stop spinning. She pulled it off, holding it by the hanger, and looked it up and down in a daze of excitement, "Is it the right size?" She always had to guess by holdings things up, since she didn't know how the numbers system worked and Mommy was often...off doing other things while shopping.

Cecelia carefully pulled the dress off the rack so that it wouldn't get snagged on any of the other garments. It really was a very pretty dress, even if blue wasn't her favorite color.

"I don't know." She confided in the other girl. "But if you go in there you can try it on and see if it fits!" She pointed to the changing rooms. One of the doors was half open and Cece's own clothes were thrown in a messy heap on the floor.

"Oh...ok," Sophie agreed with a nod, taking the dress carefully behind the curtain. The dressing room wasn't too small, but it wasn't big either. It was nice. Definately easier to change in than her bathroom, which was cramped as anything.

She slipped the ties on her dress loose and stepped out of it as gently as she could, barely missing getting her foot caught on one of the sleeves. But, having survived that danger, she folded up her clothes and put it neatly in a corner before trying on the other dress.

Once she had it on she pulled back the curtain, stepping out slowly. "Well...?" she asked, a small smile teasing at the corner of her lips. She knew what the answer would be. The dress was horribly big, the sleeves hanging over her hands and reaching her elbow. The skirt was so long she couldn't seem to find her feet in it and the dress itself slouched off her shoulders. A little big, hu?

Cecelia bit her lip. The dress was rather large on the other girls petite frame.

"Maybe we can find a smaller one." She said finally. "The color is best though! You look like a fairy princess!" She nodded enthustically. "we could asks someone to find your size, your know. Or keep trying on dresses until we find the one that fits, come on!" She bound back to the shop floor, determined to find a gown that would fit her princess accomplice.
