xxxxxxx❝ CORNIX the EXAEQUARE ❞ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ Cornix watched as the lunatic of a Shinigami entered his final release of his Zanpakuto. A grind of his teeth showed his unwavering thoughts of death. Death... it was at his door step and he could not do anything to shoo it away. His heart was not pounding like he suspected it be, nor was his breathing labored. The cold-hearted Exaequare simply stood and watched Nanashi. His face was dried with blood as well with his left hand -which parts were visible. His black eyes should exhaustion once again. But not from energy loss, from sheer exhaustion of thought for trying to get out of the current situation. "Like lambs, we have been lead to the slaughter." He mumbled seconds before Nanashi leaped into the air. The ground below him ripped asunder, Cornix tried moving out of the forming pit, but to no avail was he able to break free of the make sure prison. Cornix noticed the Nanashi was gone once more; his eyes searched upwards and noticed his opposition. A right punch was heading toward him, Cornix was able, at the last second, use his right hand to block the attack, pushing himself from the punch -since pushing such a strong person would be impossible for him.
A new fire rose up in him, Vesper's desperate words had reached him about home. Nanashi was Cornix's natural enemy, so fighting him would only lead to his death. With a quick bend of his knees after Nanashi had released his punch into the ground, he leaped out of the crater and scurried up and out with bow in hand. Broken arrows were all around on the ground, nothing seemed usable to him. He ran toward Vesper, while at the same time looking for an arrow that was usable. YES! He found one. He skidded and scooped up the arrow, and then turned about to see what Nanashi was doing. "You Shinigami are no different from Hollows, you consume the lives of anything that opposes you or is weaker than you. Lord Caelum has a duty just the same as creatures do. Vesper and I are only fulfilling orders. He is not like me. So his life should be spared." The silent Exaequare spoke with honesty. He knew Vesper's personality made him more of an asset. His position was that of half way between Nanashi's striking point and Vesper himself. Cornix held the arrow in his right hand, sitting patiently on the bow that was being held horizontally toward the ground.

In all honesty, I could very well say this man to be my brother; as we have both shared nearly the same life."
Daisuke listens to Cornix as he speaks. He snaps the book shut and stands quickly. Daisuke stares at Cornix, "You are comparing us to that race? Exaequare, you are making a grave misunderstanding. Shinigami were brought in to this world to protect the souls of the living from being devoured by the Hollows, and to protect lost souls from straying from the path of the right. And yes, we all have our duties.. but as a soldier, one knows the limits and may insubordinate! You are worse than a fool trying not to act the philosopher. You do not question, but go with the flow and give the answers the one who questions of you wants! This never had to come to this, but you made this so. You and your friend. Your Master. You willfully stepped beyond the realm of morality, welcoming the death of 6 Million human lives.. as our job is to protect humans lives, made so by our creator, we are forced to act upon you. You said we have unrightfully slaughtered the Hollow race.. what about how they have slaughtered humans? I know there must be balance, but why can't humans go about their life normally? Then again, I am most likely asking the wrong person; like asking a wasp why flowers bloom. You and your friend will both be killed. I will not kill either of you, but I know the rest will not find your release sufficing."
Daisuke looks to Suzume, "The creature that killed Tosido was named Damien Khallos; though, it was not done directly. He was the Z Rank Cuchillo's underling; who the Cuchillo taught.. Hei Hakase killed that Cuchillo." He looks to the two Exaequare, waiting to see what happens to them. 357 Nąηąsнι Jūichibantai Fukutaichō After landing and righting himself, Nanashi turned to look at Cornix with an amused expression, not even waiting until the end of his speech before extending his right hand, causing his trident to vanish and reappear in his hand. "Birokeeshon." At first nothing seemed to happen, but that was soon proved to be wrong once it became apparent that Nanashi was no longer a single body, but two instead. Reappearing behind Cornix in a stance perpendicular to his body, Nanashi's first body stabbed his trident towards Cornix's back in a quick thrust, not even leaving enough time to notice he was there before doing so. He aimed to kill, not wound, and his thrust was towards his upper back, pointing the middle prong towards his heart. Simultaneously, his second body appeared above Vesper, dropping towards him while standing atop his trident's handle that was now perpendicular to the ground.
This whole move had the sole purpose of driving the trident's prong into Vesper's neck as soon as he touched ground, using his weight that was on top of the trident as added force. Both moves were timed to the extent that both Exaequare would be stabbed through their respective areas at the same time. Drawing himself into a crouching position where his left leg was lower than the right due to that foot resting on protrusion on the middle part of the handle, Nanashi draped his right forearm over his right leg and pulled his headband up to look at Cornix. "Oh, sorry. You were saying something? I guess I don't listen well when my opponent is male..." Said the body behind Cornix as he continued to hold the trident in place, not giving Cornix the chance to move away if he had some life left in him. "I get bored just listening to them talk. Too bad you're not amusing to look at, maybe I would have paid you more attention." Continued the second body who was still atop the trident's handle, but now he had lowered his body into a crouching position, refusing to move until they were both dead or something else came along. ...Ara?___

Jūbantai-Taichō Eriko's eyes twitched when Sakamoto proceeded to add high and low level Bakudo to the effect of her Shikai ability. It made her wonder what kind of pleasure he got out of underminding her abilities so much. Plus, what was the point of using a sixty-three with a nine? However, she did not say anything about this when he approached her with his inquiry. Her twitch left her and the Captain stared at him simply.
"Do not get ahead of yourself, Sakamoto. We will detain both of them here until the others have made their return." With that said, her flat gaze moved from him to focus on how the Eleventh Division's Lieutenant was faring with concern to the Exaequare that was not bound. The attack had been blocked and Eriko watched with slight interest as Cornix made his way over to his companion and then, he spoke. The Jubantai-Taicho's eye-twitch returned after the first seven words and had a steady pulse for the rest of his miniature speech. She had risen to her feet on the branch, ready to say something in complete opposition but the man, whom she had nearly stepped on, beat her to it. She could tell that he was well-spoken and at the end of his response, she felt no need to add to it especially for the fear of messing up the mood which it had induced for some. Instead, Eriko leaned against the trunk of her tree to take in Nanashi's response to Cornix since they had been fighting each other so earnestly. She was not disappointed as the one boy became two and attacked both Exaequare at what seemed to be the same time. Oddly, her first thought was about how Sakamoto felt that this other Lieutenant had just gone for the kill without asking any questions. It was mainly because of curiosity and nothing else. For now, that should be enough and if it wasn't, she would keep to her original plans and leave it to them. The presence of all these Lieutenants in one place had her thinking about her own and when she would be able to meet him at last.

After which, he sheathed the blade and walked over to Eriko, who'd just arrived a little bit ago.
Black Star had totally turned a blind eye to the fight, he was acting out of character for letting everyone take the stardom, but he wasn't in the mood to show off. The sound of the word bankai made him shift his glare back to the fight. Nanashi, the crazy dude with the weird habit of saying even weirder things then himself, had just entered into the final released of his Zanpakuto. He watched now, interested in seeing his powers. Cornix had manged to squirm away from Nanashi, to talk about nonsense like there was no difference between Shinigami and Hollows. Black Star smirked at the thought of this. Vesper felt the screams and his vision fade, but he was bound to the spot, by several things it seemed. He attempted to struggle, but his body didn’t seem to want to listen to him anymore. Was this the end? The end of everything? It was true, what Cornix had said. They had been lead like lambs to the slaughter, and Caelum wasn’t even appearing now, to save them or to do anything. “It’s over, isn’t it? Over…and the end came faster than I thought it would.” his voice carried through the wind, as the strength he had relied on to get him through life, slowly slipped away. Cornix’s next words surprised him, and if Vesper could have moved, he would have lifted his head up and stared at Cornix in surprise. All the time, he had thought that Cornix had hated him, had mistrusted him and disliked him since he had been stuck with a partner that felt as if death was the only solution to everything and was younger than the rest. Tears fell from his eyes as he realized that he had been foolish in thinking these sorts of things. Moistening his mouth, he called to Cornix, “Cornix, you…you were the best person and fr--” The trident at that point pierced his neck and his eyes widened from the pain, his words suddenly cut off. The pain reached him quickly and he could already feel his world turning to blackness. “Goodbye, my friend,” he choked out his final words, before everything around him turned to darkness and his body went limp.

No, Suzume had never heard of that man before. He must have been a Shinigami or something like that. She pursed her lips as she thought about the fact that Daisuke had experienced the same things that person had. Did that make somebody a brother? To be blunt, all this sibling stuff was something that she wasn’t used to. While she had a sister, she was adopted, so it was sometimes a little strange between them. Ah well. Her eyes flickered to Cornix and Vesper. It seemed like their fighting was almost over. They had already managed to trap one of the Exaequare and the other would be overwhelmed easily, just by the sheer numbers. If Nanashi ever tired, which was unlikely, Suzume or one of the others would be able to quickly step in and finish it off. There wasn’t much left for them to do, to tell the truth. They were talking about their leader, somebody named Caelum? An interesting name, but that didn’t change the fact that they were there to apparently fulfil orders. Then again, anybody could give orders to anyone, even if they were ones that went against a conscience, against what one thought was right. In the end, it was really only what the person did, not said, that would judge them.
Attempting to cast her mind from the idea of death, she decided to quickly skim through those present and try to learn them all. Most of them were Lieutenants or lower, except for the Captain. Looking at the Captain, she noticed the fact that the 9th Division Lieutenant seemed to be pretty close to that girl Captain. Maybe it was time she started learning everybody’s names and who they were. Well, at least, she knew three people here, the one that she was talking to, her sister and her Captain. “Hei Hakase killed that Cuchillo? He was the one that…became a Hollow right? He’s…sort of scary, to tell the truth.” she said quietly, remembering his appearance and the bland nature in which he threatened to kill the Exaequare if they weren’t dead by the time he came back. There was, of course, his Reiatsu too, which had absolutely brought everybody down to their knees.

Tadashi looked down at Vesper's corpse, and then up at the Nanashi who'd done it. He felt pity for the Exaequare, but not terribly so. He just nodded at Nanashi and turned around, sealing Tenma. Now that the battle was over, he was starting to feel the pain in his left arm. He didn't really want to look, since that would probably make it hurt more, but he ended up doing so anyway. With some surprise, he realized some of his flesh was taken by the arrow. A deep horizontal gash was barely visible, and the blood seeping from the wound was being soaked up by his shinigami uniform.
The good news was that his wound was probably the highest casualty sustained, which was in itself impressive. Ignoring it, he decided he'd either find a 4th squad healer or Hibiki - whichever came first.

♪ ♪ ♪ Have you ever encountered such a beautiful melody? ♪ ♪ ♪ ═══════════════════════════════════════════╕ Great, my first day on the job and I'm already making mistakes...Kyo thought with a sigh as he made his way through the forest towards Sōkyoku Hill. Although he highly doubted he had such potential, Kyo accepted the position and was promptly relocated to his new home. A mix of nervousness over his new responsibilities and paperwork kept him up into the wee hours of the morning, resulting in him sleeping late when he should have been at Captain Hakase's funeral. It was so real that he jumped up covered in sweat and breathing heavily. First time I'm glad I had a nightmare, he thought as he kept running.
After a few more moments he noticed multiple reiatsu signatures up ahead. It was almost like there was a battle going on, but what would be brave or insane enough to attack a funeral that would be swarming with high ranking Shinigami? Whatever it was Kyo decided he should increase his speed just in case there was a large battle up ahead and his assistance was needed. In the distance, he could already see the edge of the forest and once he crossed the brink he would be able to see clearly what was going down.
And boy was something going down. Kyo exited the forest just in time to see Vesper's last moments. He watched wide-eyed and mouth agape as Nanashi's blade was driven into Vesper's throat. 679 Nąηąsнι Jūichibantai Fukutaichō It was his pride as a member of the eleventh division, his pride to keep fighting until the very end, that supported the dark side of his personality, the one that only surfaced when he was fighting. Without it, he probably wouldn't have been able to take life, and would otherwise be crazy and silly. Hearing the last words of his fallen enemies as they bled out and died was like music to Nanashi's ears. Grinning madly in the midst of his victory and two kills, Nanashi's second body ran his tongue over his canines, sucked in a whiff of the blood that stained the ground and allowed his dark side to get it's fill before his overly happy side kicked in. As this body tipped forward, seemingly falling off of the trident, the first body, phased from solid to ethereal and was, in a sense, sucked towards the second body. The energy from the first synced with the second right as his left foot touched the ground. Once done, he sucked in a huge breath and stuck out his right hand, forming his pointer and middle fingers into the V sign for victory. "VICTORY~!" Putting his hands to his hips, Nanashi tossed his head back and began to laugh uncontrollably, nearly reaching tears at some point before falling back onto the large rock he had moved in here earlier.
His trident teleported itself from Vesper's neck once Nanashi had willed it to by extending the fingers of his right hand. As soon as the weapon was in his grasp once more, his spherical space began to fall apart, becoming smaller and smaller at his silent command. Once the bubble was around a foot in diameter, it became visible, crackled with what seemed to be electricity, then collapsed on itself and faded into nothing. Giving the trident a twirl, he dropped it into the ground next to his feet, then moved over to the bodies of the fallen Exaequare and poked of them in quick succession, teleporting them to just outside Hei's Laboratory and then moved back to the rock. Nanashi then proceeded to vanish on the spot, only to reappear three minutes later, holding a saucer in his left hand, holding onto a tea cup with his right hand, and balancing several small cakes on his crossed legs. Bringing the cup to his lips, he aptly blew on it before quickly tipping the cup and downing it's contents into his mouth, then proceeded to breath irregularly as he attempted to cool his mouth. Instead of teleporting the cup and saucer back to where they had come from, he simply tossed them behind him without regard for how they may end up.
As he poked at one of the cakes with a fork, Nanashi eyed those around him, finally getting a chance to give Daisuke a response to a statement he had posed to Suzume. "You know..." He began, plopping a piece into his mouth, and swallowing without chewing. "Just because ya don't think he's scary, don't mean he ain't. For all we know, ya might just be a nut with no regard fer yer own life. And I say that not 'cuz I think ya are, but because it's a possibility." Casting him a glance, Nanashi threw him a mischievous cat grin before returning to his cake for several minutes. He re-entered the conversation after this time had passed, continuing as though he had never stopped. "But hell, the way I see, no matter how ya justify how this guy died, regardless of previous health conditions, he died by Mei-Ō's hand and no one else's. Which, in the eleventh Division, that's all that matters and to say otherwise is to tarnish the Captain's reputation, which is not so very wise. Now I ain't tellin' ya how to think, that's just how I see it." Flashing him the same grin as before, Nanashi picked up the plate that held his cake, and opened his mouth wide, then slid the rest of it in and swallowed it very quickly. ...Ara?___

Jūbantai-Taichō The events to follow were a little more than boring and that was only because of Nanashi's less than subtle pride in his defeat of both Exaequare. Eriko sighed and put herself to sit once again next to her haori. So, there had a bunch of new faces in the Gotei 13 when she was not in the mood for people at all. Her gray eyes scanned the minute gathering of misfits for anything else that might have been missed in the heat of battle. Sakamoto was injured. Another Lieutenant had appeared at some point. That was it. With a sigh, Eriko shrugged on her haori and hopped the lower branches till her feet hit ground. There was a Yobantai Fukutaicho around here. Where was he?
For the second time, she looked around till her eyes found him where she had left him last. The Jubantai-Taicho straightened her rather relaxed posture before approaching him at a steady pace. Along the way, she managed to pull Sakamoto in line with her to the young man. "It's really silly just to stand there with an injury and not ask the one healer present to help you if possible, Sakamoto." Her tone was flat and unusually disconnected as she chided him lightly. Once she had reached the other healer, Eriko tapped him on his shoulder and said, "Hi, I'm sorry that we did not get a chance to talk properly before but are you able to help my friend here please? He seems to be nicked in the shoulder." That was an understatement as she observed the amount of blood being soaked by Sakamoto's sleeve. Her hand released him and there, she waited while wondering why she had not simply stayed in bed.

Opening her eyes again, she felt herself feeling a little more calm and if Nanashi appeared again, she would be at least, able to talk to him without getting angry or yelling at him. She didn’t do anything, instead plopping herself on the ground as she waited for something to happen. They're just psychotic beasts that fight merely to experience the scent of fresh blood, Kyo closed his eyes as his grandfather's words rang out in his mind. It was such a mindset that had kept him from applying to the 11th Division to begin with, despite his hand-to-hand combat style fitting better there than the Kendo focused 6th Division of which he was currently Lieutenant. I would never fit in with the likes of characters like that, he thought while he silently watched Nanashi's celebration.
You're being awfully judgmental Mr. Late-Sleeper, Zetsumeireiki said sarcastically inside Kyo's mind. How do you know he didn't have to be bound like that in order for them to have a chance to deal a finishing blow? You weren't here after all.
Kyo kept his stoic vigil and calmly replied, Even if that was so, he didn't have to gloat. That's going overboard and it's disrespectful to his foe. It also makes him look like less of a warrior and more of a beast. Moreover... Virgil's message was suddenly cut off by the sounds of Zetsumeireiki laughing wildly.
Who...who...are you supposed to be?! "It makes him look like less of a warrior and more of a beast..." You trying to sound cool all of a sudden, Ro-ro?! You sound like you're some kind of gloomy action movie star, she sent between outbursts of laughter.
Kyo crossed his arms and frowned as her laugher and taunts continued to echo inside his mind. Not only was that irritating, but she had called him Ro-ro again knowing full well how much he despised that nickname. A vein started to form on his head and he gritted his teeth while the taunting continued. After a few moments his rage finally reached the critical limit and before he knew it he screamed, "COULD YOU JUST SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY?!" Then remembering where he was he let out an embarrassed chuckle. "Excuse my outburst," he quickly said with a slight bow towards the gathering of shinigami. He sighed as Zetsumeireiki's taunts intensified with the added fuel of his embarrassing outburst.
