The snow cone was done. And Soleil was bored. They eyed the rest of the stalls, wondering what to do. A stall housing a water game caught their eye. It looked like they had to knock down a bunch of jackalopes? Looked fun enough to pass the time.
The kirin strode towards the booth and placed a bit of cash down, easily sliding into the seat. What they didn't realize was that the gun was facing the opposite direction---towards them. Soleil sputtered as a gush of water hit their chest, leaning back and falling out of their chair. The stall owner seemed to pity them though as they handed them another bunyip plush.
“Um, skill, I’ve had a lot of practice with darts and it is just something I like to do,” Sally admitted, relieved that Eirian had not only accepted the plush but were also impressed with her talent with darts. “I’m bad with rings and frisbees the weight and shape of them always makes my aim off.” It would likely get somewhat where it was supposed to be but not enough to win the prize she wanted.
“Um… is there any game you would like to show off your skills with, or something you would like to do?” She asked, fingers sinking into the spectural plushes soft fur. “Since I showed off and all.”
Now that he had calmed down, he was able to relax and take a look around. Yeah, he had a lot of great things going on now. He had such a wonderful friend in Leto, and the best boyfriend, and a growing family of familiars... wait, where did that flitterat come from? He couldn't help but laugh.
Was there such a thing as too many familiars? Ever since she had met her first specterfox, her focus in school had shifted. She knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life now... so was it really a bad thing that she had so many?
Maybe he should throw a giant party! Yeah, he should invite all his friends to get together, and they should all bring their familiars! It didn't occur to him just how crazy that could get. He didn't know how many familiars everyone had.
Then again, Mallory knew he was also sort of... out there when it came to being friendly. He wanted everyone to have a good time. He'd been dubbed a 'class clown' a lot for his antics too.
It was finally... finally their turn to play. Claire was about to insist Baum play first to show off what he could do, but the teacher running the game insisted on "Lady's first" for some reason. Well, she could roll with that. She got three darts and managed to pop 4 balloons (one dart hadn't stick to the board and fell on a second balloon.) Since they'd never seen that before the teacher let Claire pick any prize she wanted. But her prize ended up picking her instead. Before she could say anything, a goofy little gryftoo stumbled into her legs and stared at her. She... couldn't say no.
She had only just darted away and scooted under a table when she suddenly got a face full of fluff. "GACK!" She squealed, jumping and bumping her head on the table. "ow ow ow..." She held her head before looking up at what she had run into. A dark rammykin had gotten stuck under the table, fluffy wool caught on the hinges of the table legs. "Oh, you poor thing." Sphinx carefully pulled the floating sheep free and hugged it. "You're going to come with me now. No more getting stuck ok?"
No sooner had he gotten over the shock of the sudden wisp in his face did he feel something tug on one of his tails. He bristled slightly, not enjoying the sudden pull to his fur. Flicking his tails up out of reach of the assailant, he spied a fennikit looking up at him with a happy little grin. This... this was unusual.

Actually, for a moment, Quill wondered where his boss even was. Bowie did love a good party, but he also had a boyfriend. Ah well, he didn't dwell too much on that for now. Ooo look at those cute pinwheel cookies!
The water from the game had left their swear drenched. Soleil shuddered, quickly taking it off and wringing it out. How were they supposed to know that the gun was backwards?! The booth owner should have known that and fixed it! Lips pursing into a frown, the kirin's eyes roved around for the next thing to do. They were too cold for another snowcone. Not only that, but they were pretty full from the last one.
A booth full of boas caught their eye however, and the walked quickly towards that. Although they had one boa of their own that hadn't been ruined during the crafting event, another was necessary. They were pretty sure their neck could hold more than one boa. The kirin picked a blue one and tied it around the other, making one ultra boa. That should do the trick.
Oh gods, Vega felt like such a familiar magnet right now. 5 had already approached him. He looked at the pink heart wisp he had given Leto... and started blushing all over again. Aw dang it.
Seriously... was there such a thing? She mentally tried to count how many familiars she had at home... she gave up when she realized she had almost 30 already. So when a little black fennikit pawed at her ankle, she looked at it in surprise. What would this be... like 32 now?
While he was thinking about this, something gently bumped into him. He looked and saw a pretty pinkish-purple rammykin. He grinned. "You're cute too. You want to come with us?" He wasn't sure he should... keep both rammykin. Maybe Aurelia would like this one? Yeah, she needed another familiar so she could uh... catch up. Yup. Cause it was totally a contest to see who had more familiars.
Maybe he should give the class clown antics another go? Would this guy lighten up? Or was he more likely to shove a snow cone in his face? Hmmm... tough choices.
Oh, and then the teacher had the nerve to say that they bet Claire couldn't do that again. How dare they! WELL! Claire would show them. "Give me the darts." She held her hand out for them. Armed again with the three darts, and the board reset with new balloons, Claire took aim and threw the darts again. It wasn't quite the same as before, all the darts stuck. But somehow she had managed to pop two balloons next to each other. She wasn't even sure how she did that. But she smiled smugly. "You were saying?" This time, she chose a purple nezubat who just looked so cute sitting there. "Yeah, you're coming home with us. Two new friends in one day!" She glanced at Baum. "Three. Three new friends, I should say. But he's not coming home with us." She told the familiars, as though they understood.
She really had no idea if the rammykin could understand her or not. She hoped so. She kept one hand gently, but firmly on the sheep's wool as she walked out from under the table and looked around. She needed to get something to share with her new dryad friend.
Oh crap. Wait. What would Quill say to all these familiars suddenly showing up at home? Well, at least they were both pretty small... and he knew Quill liked familiars. Oh god, he was such a bad roommate!

Man, he hadn't had this much sugar since he was a kid, enjoying the haunted hallows with his friends. Xenon might have to carry him home if he went into a sugar coma.
Something suddenly bumped into his back. He jumped a little, not having expected it, and was surprised to see a cute little rammykin floating... upside-down. "Need... a little help?" He gently turned the floating fluff the right way and expected it to float along, but it didn't, instead hooking it's front legs over Vega's shoulder and just... stayed there.
Yeah, Nashira knew she needed to graduate and try to get her own house... some place with a large yard for all these familiars. Maybe she should buy a farm or something? Oh gods what was her life turning into?
More importantly, though, Meadow liked how the two sheep seemed to get along. Like his blue, and this new pinkle (he was allowed to make up color names) that he was going to give to Aurelia seemed like friends, so he would have to see her more, since the rammykin needed to see each other. Yeah.
He really didn't want to push the guy over the edge though. Mallory wanted him to lighten up. Hell, it would be nice if the goblin would even smile at him!
The teacher was flabbergasted that Claire had somehow managed to pop 4 balloons with three darts... a second time. That was some serious luck! Claire was distracted, gently playing with the fluff on the gryftoo's neck.
"Heeeeey! I know! You can help me look! I need to find a nice treat that I can share with the nice man I met. What do you think he'd like? A snow cone? Some punch? Maybe a cupcake? No wait I'd likely eat that before I found him again..."
Cue the next internal panic attack. Not only was he afraid of committing a huge social faux pas with present company, but he was doing the worst thing to Quill! What would his friend say? Oh no, what if Quill kicked him out for bringing more familiars into the apartment? It was fine with his skyfish and Quill's flitterat... but... oh geeze, he might need to sit down...

Quill was oblivious to Xenon's panic. He stopped and chatted up one of the event helpers who had been handing out boa earlier. They were covered in fuzz and lint, so Quill helped pick some lint off their shirt and out of their hair.
Soleil wrapped the newly made boa tightly around themselves. If only they had a clothing stall up. They'd gladly browse something like that. But as they wandered around the festival; they soon learned that it was one of the few booths that were missing. Soleil was even willing to wear gaudy neon yellow sweats. The kirin was desperate for something that was nice and toasty.
Shivering, they took some candy bark from a nearby booth. Maybe they'd have to leave early if they couldn't find a place. The thought made their lips tug down. They didn't want a little bit of cold ruining their fun!
Well alright then. Vega gently pet the rammykin's fluff. He really enjoyed having all these familiar with him, but was it a little much? Now he wasn't alone with Leto...
A thought occurred to her then. She would need to talk to Ares about how he felt about familiars. She... did enjoy being with the imp, but she also had a lot of familiars. Maybe Keres here had some advice on caring for large numbers of familiars. Mostly, her familiars roamed where they felt, and came to her to eat, and sometimes sleep.
There was a sudden hiss and something jumped at him, seeming to be aiming for the rammykin. Meadow squeaked and turned, protecting the floating sheep, but got a paw to the face. "What the...?" A vespercat was trying to bat at the pinkle sheep that he was going to give Aurelia. "Stop that." He scolded the cat.
She cooed at her new familiars. "You two are so cute!" The attendant was resetting the balloon board again. As he did, Claire wondered is Baum would like a turn to throw the darts? Or maybe she should win something for him?
As she and her new little sheep friend wandered around, she felt like she was being watched. Was her big brother here? Or one of her dads? As she looked around, she saw a green fennikit staring at her. "Aw, are you all alone? HEY! I know! Come with me!" She pat the familiar, and then picked it up, turning to run back to Sisal.
The little fennekit pawed at Xenon's ankle and stared up at him curiously. Xenon reached down and picked the little brat up. He really hoped Quill wouldn't be mad...

When he had finished helping de-fuzz the event helper, he waved and began wandering the crowds again. He HAD to get away from the sweets before he made himself sick. As he wandered, he stopped and looked at a nezubat that seemed to be trying to steal some cake. "I don't think you should have that..." He carefully picked the little bat up and found some sliced melon. "Try this instead."
