Nuka really wanted to continue. There was a few more colors he didn’t have. He nearly went back on his small promise of just one more, fiddling with the change in his pocket. But then… something bumped into the back of his head, clinging to his hair.
Jumping in surprise, he reached back, hands closing on a warm, furry creature. Pulling the creature free of his hair and head, he moved it to where he could see what it was. It was… a pink and blue flitterrat. He blinked. Why… that was actually kinda cute. And he wasn’t too fond of rats. He grinned at his new friend.
Soleil went back to the bunyip plushies that they had grabbed. It was time to start fresh. Without using any of the markers that were there. They had learned from their mistake. The kirin picked up a pile of sequins and got to work on giving the bunyip shiny freckles instead. Much more gaudy and repulsive. Less....well. Ugly. Even though that was the look Soleil was going for. They had certain standards. Criteria.
Lips pulled into a frown as they felt the tail move on the table. What in the world---?! They looked over towards the source. A blue vespercat. Huh. Soleil reached over to scritch the feline behind the ears before going back to the monstrosity that they called art. They could live with the annoyance.
There was at least a moment of distraction as a gryftoo ran over and plopped down at his feet. It was so goofy looking that Vega couldn't help but grin at the little thing.
She was distracted for a moment as she watched the bat settle onto her shoulder, holding onto her arm and seemed ready to sleep. "I have 2 other bats... I hope you will get along together."
He was about to take some pizza, when a fluffy blue fennikit ran around hus ankles. "Hey! I'm gonna trip on you if you run like that. ... Whoa, you look like my new little friend here. You wanna hang with us?"
"Chilled?" Mallory's attention was drawn back to the goblin. More like this guy was ice cold. "Come on, you don't even wanna hang out a little? Come ooooooooon~" He tried to playfully entice him. "You can't really want to just be alone, right? I mean... that's boring. Wouldn't it be more fun with a friend?"
Even though it had been fairly low-key so far, Claire was having a lot of fun. She knew she'd have to sneak away from Lucian more often. Or... maybe she should introduce Baum to her brother? She hoped that her brother wouldn't scare him off...

There were so many cute little cookies and cupcakes. Quill had a little pink cupcake with a candied heart on the top. Whoever did the baking for this event was a genius!
With his new companion, Nuka stepped away, humming under his breath. He was very content. The festival was very fruitful in gifts. He went to grab something to eat, munching on some fries with the flitterat. He would have to name them. He didn’t know what to name them yet. Studying the flitterat, he didn’t notice when a boa was draped across him.
The culprit was already skipping away when he turned to look. He let out a laugh, looking fully at the boa. It was a pretty color. And one that he had not yet gotten. ”What luck we have,” he murmured to the familiar.
Their work was done! Finally! Soleil admired the now glitter-fied and sequined plush with smugness. It was a surprise that there was any cloth visible on the plush. Even the protruding teeth had an iridescent sheen. Their own was left untouched and pure. Honestly, the kirin had gotten tired of their work. It had taken them quite a while. It wasn't like they wanted a stuffed familiar that looked just as....glorious anyway. So much for that idea.
So, they got up and stretched their arms. It was time for a snack. There was one thing that Soleil was craving. Even if it was freezing outside.
A snowcone.
They wandered over to the nearest vendor and purchased one, idly eating it nearby.
Vega didn't have long to marvel over the derpy looking familiar as a nezubat swooped near by. Had this gryftoo brought a friend? Vega was able to relax a little as he saw the two familiars interact, and he felt a little less tense. Yeah, ok, he could handle this.
Actually, she really hoped her new familiars would get along with... all the rest. As she stood there with Keres, she realized she might have a small hoarding problem. She really loved her familiars. They were easier to interact with then people. Oh goodness, she was going to become a crazy spectercat lady.
This was great! Meadow couldn't believe the luck he had with familiars tonight. He was still holding onto the rammykin so it wouldn't float away, and it was fun watching the little fennekit prance around his feet and try to pounce his tail.
Ok, maybe he needed to relax a little. Mallory didn't know why this guy was so uptight. He was a likeable dude, right? The familiars seemed to think so as a wine colored Nezubat joined him and his growing menagerie.

Man, why did there have to be a line for the games? She sighed as they waited, and someone even cut in line! HOW RUDE! But what could she do? There was no reason to cause a scene.

The problem with getting a treat for her self-proclaimed new friend was she didn't know what flavor he'd like. And what if she stepped away and got lost? She might not find him again. Well, then again she got lost in crowds all the time and her brothers and sisters and parents always seemed to find her, no matter how hard she tried to hide. It couldn't be that hard to find someone again if she ran off, right? She stared hard at the dryad to try and memorize his features.

Oh god this was awkward. Xenon hadn't really thought about it before, but was he having some sort of social anxiety? This was SO far out of his normal comfort zone, and it was really awkward to be holding plushies with a stranger and his little sis hanging around.

Quill really did appreciate when other people cooked. He wasn't the best cook out there, and when he tried to bake things, they never turned out this good. He and his roommate managed to get by and not poison themselves when they made food, but neither of them were this good. Man, maybe he could sneak some sweets home with him...
After taking a few calming breaths, Vega felt himself calm down. He was still just so glad that Leto was here. All he really wanted to do was spend time with him and do nothing, or do everything. Whatever.
Well, maybe not vespercat lady. She did have a lot more specterfoxes then anything else. She sort of lost herself in thought as she thought about her familiars.
He really couldn't wait to get home and introduce all his familiars to each other, and then he could get Aurelia and Pepper to come over... oh, had they met yet? Hmmm... That could be an interesting day. He wasn't sure he had introduced them. And maybe he should invite Vega over too. He liked the Kirin, but they hadn't seen each other in a while.
Yeah, clearly Mallory was a likable guy. All the familiars he had found himself with today couldn't be wrong. So he had to wonder what was it that this guy found so horrible about him. Maybe he just didn't like people?
At least while they were waiting, Claire wasn't deprived of refreshments. Man, these events were the best. As she and Baum waited in like, she was brought punch and a cupcake. So even though she had to wait, man was she content. Good food and good company. What more did one need?

Their vesper cat friend had followed along it seemed. Soleil crouched below to look at the little guy. Weird. "Why are you so attached to me, huh?" Soleil's fingers scratched underneath their chin. "You're meowing up the wrong tree if you think you're going to get any food from me." They meowed back. It seems like they already knew. One of their paws reached for their already mostly eaten snowcone. "You want that?" Bemused, Soleil lifted it up. "Can vesper cats even have shaved ice?"
Suddenly, Soleil was shoved, the snow cone flying to the ground. The cat lapped it up quickly. "Not like I'm going to finish it now." They turned around to stare at the culprit. It had felt like a freshling. But...it wasn't? Soleil cocked an eyebrow towards the offending kidden. "What did you do that for, punk?" Familiars had no sense of manners. Why did people bother keeping them as pets?
