It was strange to think such a thing like this had a history to it, given Garret having never seen its like before. It could almost be seen as sedate then. Perhaps scavenged or some such things, if its purpose was just for aura transfer. But the markings on the device and method it used seemed...inelegant. And if there was one thing many inventors in this world prided themselves on, was elegance. At least from the few he had interacted with. Hearing Aurtrox say he had only seen such a device once before was ever more intriguing. The man seemed to have tabs on many things going on around Vale, with himself as an example of one such way. It could be questioned he knew far more than a head master should, but Garret was not one to look a gift horse in the mouth here. As long as they shared the common goal of defeating grimm, Garret could look the other way in terms of questionable sources of information. As Aurtrox paused, it almost seemed like he had rigged the room to make his points all the more dramatic. A beam of light would illuminate part of his face, and make him seem angelic. 'Coincidence or planned, it matters little.' Garret would think to himself. Fancy theatrics or moments such as that did not impress him much. He would continue, seeming to go through the evidence and discarding a prior hypothesis before snatching it out of Vicker's hands. He doubted the latter cared, but he wondered what had Aurtrox so excited about the thing.
Soon realization seemed to dawn on the man, claiming to have seen it at a military convention in use...but that it was discontinued due to being unstable and dangerous...before he would look to Garret's hand as he said there was only one way to study it. Garret tried to lock eyes with his employer for a moment, knowing exactly what Aurtrox was hinting at by saying study it. And the implication by his silent gesture. After a moment of attempted eye contact with Aurtrox, Garret would sigh and begin to speak. "If you feel this is important enough to keep between the three of us, I shall test it out. You two are better equipped to deal with things if something were to go wrong." He would say simply and to the point, feeling there was no need to hide anything. The fact alone that Aurtrox seemed so excited about it and his hinting to test it between them told Garret he did not want this going around in a lab for study for one reason or another. And it was true, given they both seemed to have familiarity with the technology, they probably would know how to help if something went wrong. If it were either of the other two, Garret could do very little to help. Attempting to snatch it from Aurtrox's hand, if only so he had a small bit of control in this, he would lightly wrap his hand around the object over where it was designated. He would hold it up to his own eye level, in front of him so the others could easily see...and he would press his palm into the needle. It took most of his will to prevent him from wincing as he did, keeping one eye on the container and the other at Aurtrox. He still grit his teeth though from at least the initial feeling.

Aurtrox loved men of action like Garret. They were so rare these days, likely why Garret had slowly risen through the ranks of his mercenary hirelings to the top ins such a short amount of time. That, and their commonalities. He would watch carefully as Garret's palm pushed into the needle and drew blood. At first nothing noteworthy. The blood pooled into the hand print on the device. Even though it was curved no blood would drip off. It was perfectly designed to retain all of it through the sheer force of water tension. A marvelously clever design, albeit crude on the outside in many respects."Do you feel anything, Garret?" Aurtrox would ask after a moment of tense silence. His eyes flickering back and forth between the loner's face and the device. "Maybe try-" He would starts to speak before a small flash of electricity shot out from one of the sides of the device. He held his breath, the device started to flicker and flash small bolts of electricity from the sides sporadically. Nothing strong enough to do any damage. The device started to heat up, the edges turning a deep orange from the heat. He would begin to feel a strange warm sensation running up his arm."Hold steady..." Aurtrox stood from where he sat. An uneasy arm held out towards Garret. The device started to whir as the electrical sparks increased. The heat would begin to get too hot for holding. Aurtrox' eyes went wide and he kicked the floor twice to his right, a tile slid open and a large human sized hole surrounded by a foot in metal on either side opened. "Toss it in there!" Aurtrox shouted. If Garret did so the floor would immediately close behind it. Otherwise he would feel the searing pain of heat with his skin sizzling underneath.

Besides the initial unpleasantness, it did not feel wholly painful. Uncomfortable for sure, but not painful as his mind settled on it remaining there for now. What was most curious though was that the blood did not drip off the device. Rather, it would remain on it in the hand-print of the device itself. Why it did so Garret was unsure, but that was what they were testing to find out. As Aurtrox asked if he felt anything, Garret would merely shake his head no as there was nothing noteworthy yet. It felt just like anything piercing your palm and remaining there would. As Aurtrox would speak again though...he would be interrupted. A small spark of electricity shot out from the side of the device, and it took most of Garret's willpower not to chuck the device in shock. His hand did waver slightly, but he still held it out as before and steadied his hand. 'That...was not expected.' He thought silently to himself, eyes firmly on the device. The device would then do so again, and again, seeming to be sporadic with it. Given it so far had done no harm, Garret held firm with it and did not move his arm. Not quite trusting the device, but curious to see what happened next as he felt certain Vickers or Aurtrox would warn him to get rid of the device when necessary.
However, shortly after that, the device would begin to heat up with the sides of the device turning orange. He would give a quizzical look to Aurtrox as he told him to hold steady, feeling the warmth travel up his arm from the device. It wasn't hot enough that he felt the need to drop it...yet at least. However, seeing Aurtrox stand and hold a hand out uneasily to him...Garret did hold steady, though he knew things were not going well by the mood of the room. With little choice else, given they knew little on the device, he did as he was told though. The device would begin to make noises, spark more, and heat up ever further. Quickly it felt like it was searing Garret's palm, in which his hand twitched and he winced from the feeling of it. Before he could vocalize it, Aurtrox would kick the floor twice and a panel would open before shouting for Garret to throw it in. Without hesitation, Garret would toss the canister inside and wave the arm that had been holding it to help cool it oft as the tile closed immediately once the canister was in. "What happened? It had felt normal, then sparks shot out, and then it felt like it was going to burn through my skin!" He would ask, eyes glancing up to Aurtrox and back to where it had been tossed into the floor, clearly not pleased with the experiment.

Garret had done a valiant job holding the device for as long as seemed reasonable. If any of this could be considered reasonable at all. For a long moment Aurtrox would keep quiet. Listening to the floor, a loud POP followed by a fizzle reverberated through the floor."Well, I think it exploded..." Aurtrox would say too nonchalantly. As if Garret hadn't almost had his hand completely blown apart by an known to be dangerous, ancient experimental piece of equipment. "Did you feel anything?" Aurtrox was still standing. Seemingly just as confused."Did your aura ever tingle? Or did you feel a surge of energy through your arm or hand? Anything at all?" Aurtrox's eyes remained lazer focused on Garret and his arm. The blood still seeping out of the small wound. Every detail seemed... ordinary. Too ordinary for his liking. Maybe the device was just a dud after all. Something a grimm had stuck on it from when it killed a scientist in some far off research center. He had hoped for more. Much more. "Let's go over this from the beginning, tell me everything you felt." Aurtrox Looked to Vickers and back again.

Garret figured he was waiting for something to happen, though what he was unsure. Naturally, after what had just occurred, Garret's eyes drifted to the floor where there was once an opening. Wondering what became of the object...before hearing a loud pop followed by a fizzle from the spot he had been looking at. 'That seemed...needlessly complex for an explosive.' He thought to himself, figuring the sound meant the thing had blown up and it being verified by Aurtrox who sounded far too nonchalant about it all. If he had held onto it any longer, it would've blown up with all of them rather than down who knows where. Garret would gaze the headmaster an un-amused look with how he was taking things. But he would not say anything else for now, instead still waiting for him to answer Garret's own question. But instead of answering...he would go and begin to ask a series of questions, stemming from if he felt anything to guessing at possible things that he may have felt. Garret, for now, waited for Aurtrox say all he had to say but would also note he seemed focused on Garret and his arm. He barely even noticed that it was still bleeding at this stage, given that was such a minor thing to him in comparison to what could have happened.
He would then ask him to go over everything from the beginning, describing everything he felt. Garret was about to say that he had done so already, but paused to think further on exactly what he had felt. 'The p***k, the sparks of electricity maybe indicating it wad damaged, the warm feeling...that went up my arm rather than just by the device....then it freaked out.' He thought silently to himself, thinking on things analytically. It seemed...similar to one of the questions Aurtrox had asked earlier, making Garret wonder why that specific part may have been important out of all of it. Looking between Vickers and the Headmaster, he would speak. "From the beginning, and then you can answer me on what just happened. I felt the needle pierce into my palm, the sparks of electricity as the device started, and as the device started to heat up I felt a...unfamiliar warm sensation run up my arm. I hardly noticed it at first since the device in my palm was warming up, but I did feel warmth traveling up my arm as well. Then the device seemed to go berserk, and got too hot to carry and I had to throw it as it was close to searing my palm. That was all I had felt while holding it." He would report simple, noting the one part that he thought may be what Aurtrox was looking for as an answer. With that done, he would look intently to the man to see what answers he may have.

Garret seemed very unfazed by it all Aurtrox grabbed a notebook from a drawer and placed it on the table in plain sight before he jotted down 'Use Garret for all future painful experiments.' and slammed the book shut and tossed back into his drawer."Very interesting, but mostly confounding..." Aurtrox would say as he doubled kicked the floor once more in the same tiled spot."A warmth up the arm... It might have worked..." He mumbled to himself."Here it is!" Aurtrox opened the drawer again and pulled out a pair of safety gloves. It was a bit ironic that he was using these considering he had just made Garret stab himself with the very same device he was now reaching down to pick up. He gently picked the device up from the very tip of the edge with only his pointer and thumb as if to try and minimize contact with the device. He looked at it for a moment before asserting, "It looks thoroughly destroyed. I do believe this would have irreparably taken your hand off..." Aurtrox tabbed his chin with his other hand deep in thought."Nothing can be gained from this experiment. Yet. If you feel anything else, any pain, or other strange sensations please report it directly to me. Otherwise I will pass this over to Vickers here and he can run a full diagnostic on..."His eyes looked back to the pathetic excuse for a chunk of metal, and then back to Vickers and Garret."On what's left..."It didn't seem anything else could be learned. Aurtrox passed the device over to Vickers and slumped back into his chair. Thoroughly frustrated with the result. "I will be heading to bed then, its already 9PM it seems. Remember, you got free healthcare at our local clinic if anything pops up, make sure to disinfect the puncture point. Otherwise, I will see you both soon."Aurtrox would listen to any last remarks, but he was ready to head to bed when Garret and Vickers left.

To which he would receive an un-amused look for, as Garret was not volunteering for any experiments of his without there being a purpose that he agreed with. He was still awaiting an answer as Aurtrox seemed intrigued but confused to the results, kicking the floor twice in a spot that reopened the hole he had tossed the canister into. He mumbled something else Garret could not catch before he would get a pair of safety gloves and very cautiously picked up what remained of the device from the hole. His caution, to Garret, was understandable at this stage. Their last test had caused it to explode, clearly unintended from Aurtrox's reactions, so being careful not to trigger it again no matter how unlikely was wise. He would then go on to mention the explosion would've taken Garret's hand, and further that nothing could be be gained from it yet. It seemed Garret, for the time being, had pricked his hand for little reason. 'At least we know it was defective and did little. Though all this caution...I should be wary still in case of anything.' Garret silently thought to himself. He would nod about reporting anything he felt to Aurtrox, and watched as he passed the chunk of scrap to Vickers. As he would say he would head to bed, seemingly frustrated, and told Garret anything medical would be covered Garret would make his own goodbyes at this point. "I shall be retiring as well. It was a shame this...experiment revealed little, but at the least it seems to have been resolved. May you rest well and peacefully." After speaking, Garret would depart himself to attend to the wound and get back to his apartment. Wondering exactly what should have happened, from Aurtrox's expectations, but figuring he could pin the man down in future in regards to that.

XXXAnother day, another week, even. Yui could be found sitting at the edge of the crudely made bed she was assigned. This wasn't her room, not exactly. It was the room she was assigned during her extended stay in the infirmary so that the medical staff could monitor her closely. Though Nox had been able to remove the traces of dust in its entirety from her body, they still wanted to keep an eye out for any extreme alterations it may have had on her functions, her vitals. She couldn't blame them. Apparently her actions in Alpha Cavern had more correlating consequences than she could've anticipated, despite being fully aware of what she was getting herself into. But, how could she expect the actions in her heroics to have such adverse effects on her own body? Or at least, anticipated effects and a lingering sense of uncertainty. The one she expected, of course, was the lengthy process it was taking her hand to recover. The arm itself sustained a series of intense burns, but those were on the verge of recovery with proper cleaning and treatment. Her right hand, however, was another story entirely. It remained lightly wrapped in bandages, the hole itself restored after a series of stitches and waiting. It wasn't that it hurt, perse, but it was the lack of main that raised so much concern. Instead, a distinct numbness and overall dull sensation of touch through her palm. Her digits weren't responding properly, at least, not in full unison. It was slowly getting better, but the strength of her grip had failed to return. It was weak, so much that the sheets slipped through her fingertips as she tried to make her bed. She was told it was only a matter of time before strength returned, that she just needed to take it easy and not overexert her hand again. And to certainly avoid shooting herself up with dust, no matter the circumstance.
They were letting her have a little more freedom now, at the very least. They trusted her, they were certain her body wasn't at risk of breaking down or erupting in flames anymore. Perhaps they were worried about the dust damaging her aura control, or some other severe sideffect that had yet to surface. Yui started her morning as she had every day since coming to the infirmary, however. Staring at her injury, testing her grip, wondering if each day she was getting better or not. Then, examining the azure crystal that she had been entrusted with by Nox ever so closely, feeling an undeniable connection with the shard of dust. It was warm to the touch, rich and vibrant in both color and glow, and just felt... Like it belonged to her, like it was part of her. After her brief morning routine, Yui was on her feet with her crudely made bed, ready to stretch not only her legs but her wings. Today, however, was different than the rest. Today there was a knock on the door, and a letter delivered to her. Not by hand, but rather, mysteriously appearing on her window sill. It was, in fact, the second letter she had received from the Headmaster himself since the events in Alpha. Merely it's presence left her feeling... Uncertain. Ever since the events that occurred in the cavern, it all felt so... Different. A sensation of both liberation and uncertainty weighed heavily on her, this letter only rekindling that same sensation. On one hand, with all that occurred and all that she had done, she felt more alive than ever before. She felt as if she broke one of the many chains that bound her in place but now felt just as trapped in the unknown. What had happened since that day, where had everyone gone? The first letter from Aurtrox was a congratulation, thanks, and an apology for not being there in person. He commended her efforts and thanked her for bringing [a majority of] the students back from harm and all she was willing to sacrifice. But, that's all. There was no reconvening about the events, no talk of her punishment or future actions they'll take following what happened... Receiving it all on a piece of paper, she was just hoping for... A little more. Not a celebration or a reward, but rather, a face to face reconnection with the man who trusted her instinct and encouraged her to follow her heart. She wanted to thank him for that, but also ask what he thought of it all, see how he felt on these matters.
Hesitantly, her fingers tugged on the rim of the letter, a sharp tear ripping through the silence of the room. The details of the letter had been the very thing she was dreading, yet was ready to face all the same. It was the headmaster heeding her presence in his office to talk about her punishment. She had already been cleared to go with the infirmary, apparently, so had no reason to try avoiding it. Not that she wanted to. In fact, she had been wanting to get this out of the way since the day it all occurred. If he hadn't been so busy, and her condition so grave, they could've likely addressed the elephant in the room and been on with their lives. But enough of that, as her time had finally come. ... So, what would it be on his jurisdiction? She wondered, as well, if her choice words to the commander had gotten back to the headmaster. How would he have felt knowing she talked that way to her superiors, how would that impact his judgment on her? ... The only way to find out was to make her way to his office.
Which is what brought her to here and now, standing before the mechanical door at the top of Beacon's Tower. "Headmaster, this is Yui Lioncourt." She announced, bringing her left hand to the door. With one hefty knock, Yui would press against the door as a large, metallic klunk would echo, following the sound of whirling gears as the inner workings of the door sprung to life. It was a bit of a show, as if meant to distract and ease her worries upon coming in. .. Though really, did she have worries anymore? She had anticipated the worse already with Adao, could she truly expect much worse from the Headmaster? Perhaps departure from Beacon, which would be... Well, soul-crushing. At the same time, however, Yui had heard in passing that the Headmaster was often known for odd and obscure punishments or tests. Perhaps he had something more crafty, more creative, or even more twisted up his sleeve? .. Truly, he was an enigma, and she would simply have to witness what he had in store for her first hand. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath before carefully pushing the door open. "Excuse me, Headmaster, I received your letter and came as soon as I could. I do hope I didn't keep you waiting." Yui said softly, taking a moment to bow her head and spread her wings, as a Lioncourt at her standing often would. It was meant to pay respect where it was due, and after the events in Alpha, Yui certainly held the highest regard of respect for her headmaster. More so than the Commander, even more so than her own mother. He had her respect and trust.

Aurtrox had just finished a gruesomely boring scroll call with one Beacons financial backers. It was full of all the thank yous, you're welcomes, and gestures of appreciation he could handle for the evening and he was quite frankly done with the day. Of course, he had one more matter to attend to. The Lioncourts... A prestigious family no doubt. One he had admittedly had not studied enough. Eteria was a secretive woman in ways most would never comprehend, but even his most talented knowledge seekers struggled to turn up anything particularly useful. He liked having his dirt, as a squeaky clean record helped him not. That said, Yui was about as clean a it got. He held her high on his scale of students worthy of admiration, but she would never be made privy to this fact.
Not long after he sat down to finish some paperwork he heard Yui's knock. The door's clockwork mechanics would automatically engage and slowly shift open to reveal his beautifully clean office. In everywhere it screamed of his eccentric and obsessive behaviors. There was not a single speck of dust. Every book was perfectly placed in alphabetical order, even the small bonzai tree that sat on his desk had the most pristine shape that one could easily surmise he spent hours trimming it. But above all else, Aurtrox himself was like an angel rising from his chair to politely greet Yui as she bowed. He would return one to her before lettign a gentle smile fall across his face."Yui! Welcome to my humble abode. Please, take a seat." Aurtrox would say as he pulled a chair out for her like a gentleman. She could see a pitcher of ice-cold water on the side of the desk nearest her with a few glasses just in case she was thirsty."I have to say, I have looked forward to this meeting all day. It has been a dreadfully boring administration day for me. I hope your recovery has been going smoothly?" He would take a few steps over towards the window. The radiant sun pouring through it and causing his form to turn into a dark silhouette as he grabbed something off a desk and glided back to his seat."I wanted you to have this!" Aurtrox said tossing her a trinket. It was a necklace made of white gold and a moon pendant, only the moon was engraved to appear as if it was made of feathers. "It's an heirloom. Something my family used to give to our soldiers who achieved heroic feats in the midst of battle." Aurtrox's golden hued eyes locked onto hers to see what she thought of the pendant. It was obvious that the thing meant a lot to Aurtrox, even if he tried to make it seem otherwise.

XXXFor a man who was held in such high regard, his office appeared to correlate with his standing. Pale blue hues would pan the room as she stepped forward, taking in little notes of details in regards to his surroundings. The seemed to be kept in immaculate condition, just as the well-traversed parts of the Lioncourt Estate was. Unlike the estate, however, which was kept mostly in a pristine state, the atmosphere felt entirely more lively and welcoming. There was a special sense of care that Yui could feel that went into the minutes of each day that kept the room so tidy. Even the bonsai, trimmed to perfection, appeared almost... Happy in the presence of its caretaker. Her eyes were quick to fall onto Aurtrox himself, a man who stood out from the crowd with his grand, angelic white wings; much like her own. Finishing her bow, as well as her introduction, she would rise once more to meet the amber gaze of the headmaster. His welcoming nature, his gestures of kindness, all tied together with a gentle smile. .. It.. Eased her worries, to a degree, going so far as to offer him a small half-smile in return. Maybe she had been overthinking it all. "Thank you, Headmaster." She said softly, nodding at his offer. With a few gentle steps, she'd look up at him with a gaze of appreciation before taking her offered seat. Of course, being the lady she was, she'd sit up straight with prim and proper posture. Her wings remain delicately tucked behind her back, giving her a look of elegance that only a Lioncourt's charm could provide. At least, that's what she initially thought. It appeared that Aurtrox was capable of just a feat; it really was all in the wings.
Her gaze would catch the water, keeping the offer of a beverage in mind, but in reality, was far too occupied with the presence of the headmaster to think of thirst. Her focused readjusted, keeping her blue hues focused on the winged headmaster as he steered their conversation. "It really is a pleasure. Thank you for having me, Headmaster. That sounds... rather dreary..." At first, her tone was lighthearted, filled with general appreciation for the man and his invitation. She had been waiting for this moment for weeks, it felt like. As nerve-wracking it may have been to get here, she was just eager to have something finally happen. It did, however, trail off into uncertainty at the mention of administration work. While she did do her fair share of errands around the school to assist the staff out of personal preference, she couldn't quite imagine having the task of sitting in office work all day. Administration work itself sounded like a heavy burden, especially knowing the position that he was in. .. Did he ever need help? Cautiously, she'd turn her hand over once or twice, staring at the lightly wrapped white bandages. Slowly, she'd try to curl her fingers. As they worked to close the fist, however, her fingers hand began to tremble as a whole while her fingers lightly twitched. "It... Doesn't hurt anymore, but... I can't feel much of anything right now. Dr. Field said it was to be expected. That, and with enough physical therapy, I should be able to regain... Oh!" Perhaps Yui took too long to answer a simple question, but found herself fumbling and interrupting herself at Aurtrox sudden words. Pale blue hues looked up just in time to see the glisten of light on a white gold chain, cupping and raising her hands to catch the trinket. "You really didn't have to.." Her words trailed off. Not wanting her words to seem dismissive of the gift, but she also hadn't expected to receive anything from the headmaster. At least, more than a few choice words. Curiously, she'd shift the trinket over in her palms, sweeping the golden chain off of the pendant itself. Her gaze softened as she tilted her head, her right thumb shaking as it traced the edge of the feathered moon. "It's.. beautiful.. I don't know what say, headmaster.." She said softly, her shaken fingers curling around the trinket. She almost seemed uncertain as her blue-hued eyes looked up to meet that of gold. Was it really okay to accept this? "A gift to your soldiers... With Commander Adao, I wasn't very good at playing the part of a soldier. There's a sense of irony there, given my upbringing..." There were so many questions she had wanted to ask at this moment, to say, so many things she wondered from the days of the mission. But, just meeting his gaze, Yui could feel the weight of importance this pendant had; an heirloom of his family. "It's truly an honor. Thank you. ... Though, there was something else.." She paused, her fingers gently turning the pendant over in her palm. Her fingers had curled to encompass the pendant again, the chain twirled in her thumbs. "I wanted to thank you for that day, for believing in me. I truly believe it your faith that brought the best out of me." With her words, she'd break their gaze as she lowered her head into a bow of appreciation. Truly, if he hadn't been there, she didn't know if she held her own confidence to act on her own. ... That might've been different now, but it was only because he gave her the initial push.

Aurtrox really enjoyed the aura Yui put off. She was so proper. It reminded him of his own upbringing. They were both in the noble sphere, so that much should be expected, but Yui brought new life to it. It wasn't like the stale nobility of those he worked with on a day to day basis. Their demeanor were that of pride that he found defeating. Whereas Yui held herself with an air of pride balanced with humility. Maybe the fact that they were both of the Avian kind also made her feel like family. He had a gentle smile on his face as he thought about these things. Not in any rush to get through the details of their meeting. He had so much in store for this charming young lady. He had so many hopes for her that she wasn't even aware of, not yet, at least.
His eyes watched her hand struggle, it was a pity, but not something that could not be fixed with more--drastic--- measures, he thought to himself."I feel bad for your hand, if only there was something I could do, alas, there is not. I know of some skilled healers too, but there seemed to be nerve damage and none of them specialize in that either..." Aurtrox was at a loss, but she didn't ask for his help anyways. He just felt the need to care for her like he did for all of his students. The conversation was steered to the pendant and the mission.
"I can't think of anyone more suited to have the pendant, your actions were nothing, if not heroic." He would take a sip of the tea in front of him. His large wings flexing unconsciously as he did so. After he finished, he placed teh cup gently down and his tone changed, ever so slightly. "Of course, your heroic actions come at a cost..." Aurtrox, pulled out a leather bound book and flipped it open. Inside was a letter from Commander Adao. "Sometimes, the right thing is the wrong thing, and the wrong thing; right." Aurtrox's scanned the letter, a formal request for him to take care of the situation and punish the students properly for their behavior.
"It is up to us, to use the logic of this twisted world, and try to squeeze something true out of it. And as such, you'll be made to do some community service for the academy. Sky, and a few others will join you for this..."Yui could tell the words came out as if they tasted bad. Aurtrox hated this, but he had to do something. He pushed a letter of formal 'correction' to her. Basically stating that she had community service starting this upcoming week. "I prefer not to elaborate further on this until after-"He stopped mid sentence. Almost like he had choked, except it was to hide something."Well, you'll see."

tab The elevator ride from the ground floor to the Headmaster's office was slow and generally nerve-wracking. A letter from the councilor of Technology was currently sitting in his lefthand pocket, opposite a small pocket journal and pen in the righthand pocket. Jules' eyes were darting around, observing every small detail of the elevator and the shaft, silently forming the closest thing his mind could to a schematic without actually seeing the elevator's blueprints. Jules' eyes snapped back to focusing on the task at hand after a few moments, in his left hand he held his right side cybernetic, having removed it earlier that day for some basic maintenance and to perform a few tests to see if any potential improvements could be made with the materials he'd had on hand with his portable lab and general materials packed up and ready for the move to Beacon. Jules lined up the arm with the metallic disk that was welded to the bottom of his arm stub and then moved it closer until it was about an inch apart. As the cybernetic reached this threshold, several metal-sheathed wires emerged from openings in the disk, Jules' twitching a bit as he felt them uncoil from around his damaged Humerus bone. The wires plugged themselves into the appropriate openings in the cybernetic prosthetic. A message flashing across Jules' range of vision in his left eye. "Connection to M.F.R.P.3. Re-established." A moment later, the fingers of the cybernetic began to move as Jules began to rapidly process the lines of coding involved in making the arm function as intended, a perfectly organized string of ones and zeroes running through his head like a seamless train of though. A few seconds later he had finished reviewing the code and began to move his cybernetic around, testing it for possible latency or lulls in response time. With Jules having found none he went back to facing forward, waiting for the elevator to finally come to a stop so he could speak with the Headmaster and deliver the letter that felt like it was going to metaphorically burn a hole in his pocket. It was quite a new experience for him, acting as an undisclosed courier of information between two councilors of Vale, a lot of responsibility... Granted he was used to some measure of responsibility considering he had helped with a few big projects at primary laboratories of M.T.I. here in Vale, but still. This felt like an entirely different world of weight to carry on one's shoulders. What was legitimately on Jule's shoulders was a backpack containing his three most prominent and utility-based Inventions. A tube of some Hardstone Paste(with some small lengths of scrap metal to demonstrate its utility, One pre-loaded air-pressure based grapple gun, and one of the only three D.F.D.A's currently in existence (including the prototype model which was being housed in M.T.I.'s primary research lab, and the refined model, which was currently in the possession of the Department of Research & Development). He had been recruited on the basis of using his inventions to better help hunters in carrying out their given tasks, and for this first meeting with the headmaster he had brought his best to showcase what he was bringing to the table.
Still, the elevator stopped and its doors opened soon enough, allow Jules to step out into the rather spacious office. Again, his eyes darted around, quickly soaking in information so Jules could form an approximate mental blueprint of the entire office, the furniture within, and begin thinking on any plausible improvements and mechanizations that could be made in a general sense to enhance the utility, aesthetics, and general atmosphere of the office as a whole. After approximately thirty seconds of doing this, his eyes refocused on the man sitting behind the desk, Minister of Education and Headmaster of Beacon - Autrox Ap Krayeth. The young Maxim gave a polite half-bow. "Apologies for being a bit late to this meeting Minister, I was contacted and given orders from the Minister of Research & Development to give you this letter." Jules rose back up from the half-bow and withdrew the letter from his pocket, extending the hand which held it towards Autrox. x x x x

Aurtrox was busy with paperwork as per usual. He delegated most of it to Aurelia, but there was simply too much for one person to handle. His office hours were often erratic in both time and visits, so he tried to get as much done during them as he could. Today he had a meeting with Jules Maxim. A new student, but one of lackluster combat skills and a high level of intelligence and craftiness.
He first got the notification that Jules was inside the building on his monitor that projected cameras on his hardlight screen, he turned it off the second it appears with a swift tab of a button on the right side of his desk. His eyes glued to a recent newspaper article on rising hate crimes in Vale in the agricultural districts."Only so much one man can do..." Aurtrox said to himself just before Jules entered. An interesting young lad He had a pretty face with an interesting mark on it. He definitely didn't care for standard outfits and blazed his own path as far as style and clothing choice. Aurtrox was happy to study Jules as Jules studied the room. "The architecture itself won't tell you about the secret compartment to my left that houses an explosive proof escape room, nor will it tell you about the hallway behind that mirror over there." He would say with a sly smile."Nor the many other hidden features. I made sure to hide the dimensions through an abstract use of the upper and lower floors, and illusory designs. For example the hallway behind the mirror is hidden by the adjoining room down the hall and it's false closet." Aurtrox, stood up at that and gave a precise, and slow, bow with a bright smile. As if to teach the young man how to bow properly. He lifted a hand to motion for Jules to sit. But there was no chair until his arm motioned, and then the floor produced a circular crease that raised up into a chair. Then, and only then did he take the letter from Jules. Which he promptly tossed onto his desk for now. "I may not be particularly techy, but I enjoy the finer things in my office. You can thank Vickers for that." Aurtrox would then walk over to a shelf on his left and grab a teapot and two cups that he would bring over and begin pouring tea into.
"It nice to finally meet you Jules."He would take his seat and grab the cup of freshly poured tea. Signaling it was okay for Jules to do the same with his cup. "Tell me, what do you think the contents of this letter are?"He took a sip.
