Name: Vilasini - "Sini" Stage: 2 - Rogue (Dancer/Performer) Race: Shifter x Alkidike Personality: Playful - Optimistic - Fickle Vilasini is a very playful, childlike spirit. She loves games and always has an abundance of energy to keep her going through the day that can last well throughout the night until dawn. Such energy always makes her eager to find a challenge and she absolutely adores competing against others. Sometimes she'll be more prone to pouting after a defeat as she's not shy and refuses hide her emotions but overall she's constantly looking on the bright side and using any losses to inspire her to do better the next time or find something else that she can excel at instead.
As a youngling Sini decided that she would no longer go to sleep with tears in her eyes and will always try to find a reason to smile, no matter how small it is. Even if it is something as simple as thinking of a pretty flower she spotted that day the girl will do her best to focus on that rather than on something depressing. However, avoiding more saddening events will sometimes make her appear more fickle as her interests can sometimes change on a day by day basis depending on her moods. Sini doesn't often hold grudges so her friendships will go from person to person as she flits around the village and plays to whatever interests her for the day. Most may see her more like a child still and not take her as seriously since they worry that she'll never truly focus on one single thing for too long. As she grows older though she's more focused, honing on on her performance and on those who matter the most to her.
History: Vilasini does not really know much about her true parentage as she was orphaned as a youngling in the heart of Jahaur. Everything she remembers is fuzzy at best but she believes that her parents were both hybrids like she is and she is holding onto that, especially since she cannot find anyone who would remember them for her. All she knows is that when they passed she wandered through the wilds until she eventually stumbled into Ilavera, an older shifter woman, who was too soft-hearted to leave the child alone. Unfortunately the older lady took ill and while now it is her son, a wandering sword for hire, that has taken over caring for Sini whenever he is in the area.
For the longest time Sini would cry herself to sleep at night missing her parents and Ilavera, who had raised her for five years before passing as well, but when she expressed herself to Vera's son the man simply shook his head at her. If you're just going to cry all night and day then what is the point of existing? You're missing out on everything else in life! Perhaps he was a bit more abrasive than his gentle-spirited mother who had taken in Sini but the man wasn't cruel enough to leave Sini on her own, especially not if his mother had taken her in so many years ago. In fact, the more Sini stayed around Rek the more she realized he was just as soft-hearted as his mother and that her existence was why he returned to the small tree hut that she continued living in after Vera's death. Expressing such sentiments was hard for the warrior but Sini started to realize with every nice meal or gift he brought back for her upon his return from traveling that they represented his feelings and proved that he did care for her. So Sini eventually wiped her eyes and decided that she wouldn't waste time crying anymore! From that point on the youngling did her best to focus on the positives in life so that she could always greet Rek with a smile instead of tears.
Eventually Rek started taking more jobs in Neued to avoid traveling so far away and it was there that Sini ended up following him day after day until they eventually found a new home to settle in that was closer to the bustling settlement so that she could play with the local children while he worked on jobs for those that needed him in Neued. This allowed him to stay nearby to help her until she was older and more capable of taking care of herself while he was gone traveling mostly as a guard for merchants and the like. Even in Neued Sini is a very whimsical spirit, her playful habits making her a well-known trickster, but most know that she means no harm and on rare occasion she will also help out others with small projects while they keep her attention. In more recent years a traveling troupe came through the area and Sini found herself enamored by their performances, their impact so great that she has taken up learning acrobatics and dancing for herself. It's a great way to burn through energy and allow her to express her playful spirit without getting in trouble like she did during her younger years.

☾ Gypsy Path ☾
Vilasini adored living in Jahaur.
The trees were giants that blocked out most of the sky the further you went through the jungles and the weather was always some sort of warm except for maybe on the days when there was a lot of rain making everything damp and cool before the forest warmed up again. It could admittedly get really hot and make everything feel sticky but on those days the girl would simply opt to go swimming in the river that twisted along the edges of her home, marking the border between Jahaur and Oba. While Vilasini enjoyed the heat there was only so much sand she could handle and so she was thankful that unlike the Oban deserts they had so much more greenery and plenty of rain to keep the plants growing strong. This was her home, the place that she absolutely adored despite the very, very lows of her life that had also occurred in this place full of wonders and fun. Neued was also the best because of all the different people who traveled through the town, including performers who always caught Sini’s attention since she adored watching their shows along with the locals and other travelers. Neued definitely had a lot of perks that kept Sini focused and happier than ever before. How could she waste time being sad about her past when there was so much going on with her present?
She also had Rek thankfully and she adored bothering him whenever he was home. Today happened to be such a day and the girl found herself peeking into the main living room of their home that they shared in Neued. Before she had lived with Rek’s mother, Ilvera, and the pair of them had lived in an older treehouse a few hours away from the city. At the time there was nothing wrong with it since Vera never left to go on any ventures and they lived simply out of the garden and the coin that Rek brought back on occasion. Vera also was really good at making herbal remedies so she would go to Neued to sell her supplies once a month and trade for necessities that they would need for back home, sometimes food and other times materials for her to sew with and whatever else they needed to patch up the old twisted treehouse. It had been small but cozy and Sini didn’t mind sharing a quilt with the older Shifter woman at night, the pair of them cuddling up on the old feathered mattress while the heavy rains pelted the jungle around them. It had been a quiet and safe area that she enjoyed sharing even with Rek when he visited those few times while she lived with Vera. They even had shared curry a few times with Vera telling embarrassing stories about the Shifter swordsman who had seemed so grumpy at the time to Sini. Who would have thought he was such a kind hearted man beneath all of that stoic personality and constant frowning? If anything she was expecting him to kick her out into the jungle at any time he felt she was too annoying! He just seemed so scary at first that she honestly thought anything was possible. Still, Sini was thankful that wasn’t the case because once Vera passed away the girl was completely lost and didn’t know what would have happened without Rek stepping in for her and showing so much kindness. He had even moved them into this house in Neued! It was a nice place with two huge bedrooms and a shared living quarters that had a small kitchen for them to prepare meals together whenever he was home and not traveling. Sini also adored that he had chosen a place that was near the markets and bathhouses so that she could have an easier walk with far less risks than when they lived in the older treehouse that was a few hours away from Neued. To think that he had relocated his whole life and tried to find more local jobs just to provide for her! He was truly her hero even if she didn’t say that outloud out of fear of embarrassing him and making him run away. That was definitely the last thing that she ever wanted to do.
But speaking of being her hero...Rek truly was a very heroic person in Sini’s personal opinion. Or was it more fitting to say that he was rather intimidating? Being a swordsman made him a very strong looking man and it was obvious that he had handled quite a few situations before Sini came into his life. Honestly she was not surprised to see a few earthlings swooning before him whenever they visited the markets. Raisa especially seemed to swoon over Rek and Sini couldn’t help teasing the local herbalist every time she got the chance. Not that she minded Raisa swooning over Rek since Sini adored the petite shifter woman who always gave them a helping hand. Sini often ran errands for her and didn’t mind gathering herbs and whatever the woman needed when it came to preparing medicines for the market. She honestly spent so much time with Raisa that for a while the girl had considered learning more about herbalism and perhaps making it her profession. But she simply could not sit still for long enough for it to become her entire life nor was she a fighter like Rek. Sini found herself letting out a soft sigh as she pondered over things, her fingers twisting strings of vines together as she helped Raisa craft baskets for some extra coin. Rek was gone for a long mission again and so she had been spending quite a few afternoons alongside their friendly neighbor, even sharing meals together which was a bonus in Sini’s books since it saved her the hassle of cooking.
It was also talking to Raisa that finally got Sini to admit what she was truly interested in - acrobatics and dancing. “Do you think performers have an exciting life? I would like to imagine what it must be like to travel across all of these countries and explore so many cities while meeting so many people.” Breathed Sini over a bowl of steaming stew as she watched Raisa carefully dipping pieces of bread into her own bowl.
“It does sound nice though I would much rather be settled in one place.” Mused Raisa as she chewed on a piece of bread thoughtfully. “You do seem to have quite the energy for a performer though. Maybe that’s your calling.”
“Settled with Rek, you mean.” Teased Sini with a laugh before tilting her head thoughtfully. “Maybe I do have the energy for it.” She pursed her lips as she thought about how she had recently taken up practicing acrobatics and maneuvers she had watched from recent performances. Rek did say she was graceful but far too weak to carry a broadsword like him. Could it be that she was fit for performing? Sini had been thinking about that for a while now and hearing Raisa confirm it made her spirits rise. Dancing could be what she had been looking for this whole time!
Raisa’s embarrassed cough disrupted Sini’s thoughts and the girl found herself glancing back at the Shifter who gave a slight shrug. “I’m ignoring that first part but I do know someone who teaches dancing...if you’d like?” She looked towards Sini with a small smile. “I won’t tell Rek, but maybe if you help with some more herbs I can put a good word in for you with them. She’s very talented and comes often for herbal remedies from me to keep in shape and for energy.”
“Really?” Sini almost bolted from her seat so that she could lean closer to Raisa in excitement. “I think dancing would be perfect! Thank you so much Raisa! I’ll gladly take you up on that offer.” She admitted with a grin. She had been thinking about it so much recently, especially after meeting Selim! Being a performer would be a dream come true and she could already imagine how she could amaze everyone with her dancing! Fighting was too much, being a merchant was boring and she simply could not sit still long enough for any academics or healing! Dancing though? That was what she adored doing and she would love to make that her livelihood. Just the thought of having a mentor filled her with hope for the future. She would keep it a secret from Rek for a bit until she got really good at it and then she would show him what she could do! He would worry about her after all but eventually she would have to spread her wings and fly, right? But that wouldn’t be for a while yet and even then Sini doubted she would stay away from Rek for long. They were family now and so they were stuck together! A chuckle left her at the thought as she settled in and enjoyed the rest of her meal with Raisa while sharing ideas about her future training.

☾ Growth ☾
Vilasini had been training under Bryme for almost two years now. It was crazy how much time flew when one was learning the ropes of things, but here she was. The girl had aged into a graceful dancer and had learned many skills needed for acrobatics and the like. It helped that she had spent a lot of her youth practicing before getting an official mentor and even Bryme had to admit that Sini had a lot of talent for performance. She had the energy, the flexibility and the resolve to make anything work out even if it took weeks of practice. Now came the hardest part - actually learning more about dancing by traveling to other countries. Sini found herself worried about Rek more than the actual prospect of traveling. How would he take the news that she felt old enough to leave Neued and explore the world? How was she even going to deal with it? It was less about leaving her home and more about not being around Rek. It was one thing for him to leave for weeks but she knew that he would always return and while he went into the unknown at least she had the comforts of their home and their neighbors like Raisa to help her manage during their time apart.
It had been one thing admitting that she had learned dancing earlier this year but this was something completely different. Could she do it? Would Rek get upset or give her space while trying to understand what she wanted in life? He had already accepted that she wanted to perform - at least Raisa had helped him to come to terms with that. But even Sini didn’t know how he would react to her wanting to travel.
“Do you have to leave?” Raisa asked with a frown as she studied the younger girl.
“Bryme says it’s the best way to learn other dancing styles.” Mused Sini with a frown. “He’s getting older and can’t teach me everything, especially from places like Yael and Belrea. Their styles are so new and strange to him.”
“I see.” Raisa let out a sigh before giving a nod. “Go ahead and pack your bags. But you’ll have to tell Rek.”
“Great.” Sini swallowed before finishing her meal and heading back to her home. Rek would be home tomorrow and she could talk to him then. She would just somehow have to find the courage before then to actually bring it up. I can do this, right? Oh spirits she hoped so!
“You want to travel.” Rek found himself repeating as he stared at Sini who thanks to her mixed heritage was actually eye level now with him since growing older. She truly was no longer the small child he had taken in under his wing and that worried both of them because it made the future seem so uncertain in comparison to the comforts of the past. Even Sini didn’t know if she was ready for adulthood but here she was wanting to leave and grow in her chosen profession.
“Yes.” She gave a nod and crossed her legs for the tenth time since sitting down with Rek on the bench near their home. It overlooked the markets of Neued and they both tended to relax here in the evenings while discussing their day together. This time though the conversation had turned to Sini’s current decision to travel. Thankfully Rek seemed more accepting than Sini had been prepared for and once again she found herself at a loss. Had she wanted him to protest? Was she the one afraid of leaving?
“It should be fine then. If you want you can tag along with me. It's just a simple trip into Matori, but it's a start.” Sini blinked in surprise at the offer. Why hadn’t she thought about that? Rek was constantly traveling…”Sini?”
“Ye-yeah. Rek you’re a genius!” The girl grinned as she reached over and hugged Rek. “Just let me know the destination and I’ll get ready!” She could travel and learn dancing while Rek stayed nearby after all! Perhaps they wouldn’t always travel together but it didn’t mean that they were going to have to separate permanently. Maybe this whole growing up thing wouldn't’ be so horrible after all!
[704]
Sini has never truly left Jahaur before. This is her first step towards exploring the world so that she can become the best performer possible. It’s a huge movement in her life but thankfully she still has the support of her family as she prepares to finally see the world.
