User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Name: Tytus Rakgazi
Nickname: Ty
Stage: 4
Race: Oban
Gender: Male
Appearance Tytus is man with lean muscles developed from working as a lancer in the Oban army over the last few years. He has deep tan skin, crimson eyes and hair which is often worn in tight braids.
He has three gemstones on one side of his face while he also has several larger crystals on his back / shoulders. A few stones are also along his hips though those are rarely seen.
Base Traits: Whimsical, Physical, Empathetic
Personality:
Tytus has a very random and wild spirit. Living without parents for most his life has allowed him to freely go out and do whatever inspires him. If he decides that he wants to go on a three-day trip to go explore then he would or if he decided to have cake for breakfast one day, then he would do that as well. Even though now he works for others Ty still has that nature about him. If anything, he always speaks what is on his mind even if it does seem random and he is always seeking something fun or amusing. In his free time the boy is often creating stories to tell others or playing some pranks around the stables in which he works.

He is very physical. Touching is very important to Tytus and that is part of why he enjoys working with animals since they don’t mind him being close with them. Touching is essential to bonding with him and he is never shy around strangers. Even just patting someone on the back or ruffling another’s hair is a sign of affection from the boy. He also learns best by doing things with his hands – he was never much of one for books. Lectures are too boring, reading takes too much time, and so he would rather just go out and get it done on his own. He’s great with tinkering and avoids anything scholarly. His ability to bond with animals is what makes him valued as a worker and so despite his quirks the boy is still with the stables that hired him.

Another reason he seems to be good with animals is due to his empathy for others. Tytus, despite his trickster nature, has a very open and kind heart. He is constantly willing to sit with any stranger and listen to their tale while also taking the time to care for and tend to the animals. He’s also not afraid to shed a few tears though will quickly brush them aside and try to lighten the mood with a joke or two. However, he can get easily distracted due to being so sensitive of others as sometimes he’ll spend too much time worrying about them rather than his own growing pile of work.

History:

Tytus never knew his mother. All he knew was that his birth was the result of an affair between his father and that the woman who had to give him up at birth. His father, however, was an honorable man who took his son and raised him in Orrod. For most his youngling years, the two lived together in a simple, but comfortable life. When his father was called out to work then he would ask his friend, Arron, to watch over the youngling. Arron was a beast tamer and close friend of Gen and in a way was like another parent to young Tytus. Tytus who was young and didn’t know much about the world never bothered to care about why some children had mothers while he had two fathers. He was happy and content as was so why bother? Arron especially would spoil the boy constantly and Gen would often find his son with a new toy or with some candy sticking to his fingers.

However, years passed and the battle with the extremists came about. It was then that Gen left Tytus in care of Arron. Gen was a soldier in the Oban Army and had decided to help redeem Oba by assisting the rest of Tendaji against this new threat. While Tytus was still a youngling the boy watched his father ride away on a Janarim to never return. His loss was total heartbreak for Tytus who had begged his father to not leave him. For the first year, even the boy would deny that his father was dead and would stand every evening looking outside of the doorway and towards the horizon.

He’ll ride back at any minute now.

But it was all a lie. His father was gone, lost in the war. Arron tried his best to take place of the father, but both seemed a bit at loss without Gen to guide them. Nor did Arron know anything about the woman who had given birth to Tytus. It seemed that with the death of Gen that no one would ever find out who the mystery woman had been. So, without any more family to send Tytus to Arron ended up taking care of the boy the best that he could. Yet, he as well was in the army and constantly had to begin venturing away from home for work.

As Tytus became an apprentice he found himself drifting away from his old home as the memories that lingered there were still too much for him. Despite trying his best to smile and laugh about life he felt like a ghost lingered in that old house. So after Arron left once more to work the boy said his farewells and told the man that he would go out as well to find work. Moving a bit towards the south, Tytus found that he had a knack for taking care of animals. A frantic Xaraan had run into his path and the boy found himself calming it down. Chasing after it was another boy who thanked Tytus who helped him to go back to his home with the calmer beast.

Apparently, the boy was a noble and had wanted to show his father that he could take care of a rather wild Xaraan who had yet to be tamed by anyone. What Tytus had done impressed both father and son and as he rode the beast they asked for him to stay. They had large stables and needed an extra hand who could help with the care of the beasts. Needing a place to stay and finding comfort in the fact that he could be with creatures that he loved the apprentice agreed. So for a few years he stayed with the family, helping to raise the animals while keeping the young noble company. In his spare time he would explore the Oban city and even took to watching Xaraan racing. He adopted a Xaraan of his own and learned to ride himself, almost planning on racing, before realizing that he wanted to actually try to follow in his father's footsteps as a captain in the Oban army.

Along the way he met a Yaeli healer, Seziah, who became his first love. They had two beautiful children together whom he loved to visit while working with the military. Over the years he spent time with them and sent many things from his military travels. His distance from home, however, also made distance between his relationships. While he is still fond of his children everyone went their own ways as they grew older.

Now that his children are older,Tytus is roaming to experience the world for himself.

Notes:
-Always whistles when he works
-Can strike up conversation with any stranger without hesitation
-After years of service as a lancer, he is quick on his feet and despite his friendly appearance has a deadly way with weapons.

❂ Relationships ❂

❂Valek - His son. While Tytus does not know what activities the rogue is up to, the pair still meet on occasion and exchange letters to keep in touch with one another.

-------------------MIA---------------------
❂ Seziah -Once a dear friend, Seziah helped Tytus mature. He accepted a position in the Oban army to help care for their new family, hoping for a lasting future together. Roaming and working for the military separated them for a time until eventually Seziah simply disappeared with Vyvala and left both Tytus and Valek behind. Years of searching and heartbreak did nothing to bring her back and so he had to continue forward as the family split apart.
❂ Vyvala - His lost daughter.

❂ The Story So Far... ❂

Tytus lost one of his fathers at a younger age. Because of this he had a dislike of the Oban military and often acted out. He would get into trouble and play pranks on others living nearby while finally moving out from his home. He moved in as a stable-boy at a noble's estate after helping out the son and spent a couple of years working there to help train the Xaraan.

During his stay a yaeli healer appeared, Seziah. Tytus helped her to get work with the noble family and eventually the two fell for each other. Facing his feelings about his father's death and maturing out of his love and respect for the Yaeli woman, Tytus embraced his family's legacy to go and join the Oban military. He was a talented lancer and great with Xaraan, an excellent combination for a rider.

Shortly after his decision to become a captain in the military, Tytus and Seziah found themselves with children. Seziah has since moved out to take up her profession of healing and they share an apartment in the city. Tytus has been moving up the ranks in the last five years while visiting his family as much as possible, always bringing gifts and stories from his time with the Oban army. His time within the military though continued keeping him away from home, Tytus going to various regions of Oba as necessary, and eventually he returned back to an empty shop. Time hopefully will ease his broken heart but the loss of Seziah had kept him a bit emotionally distant from others, Tytus relying upon far too many jokes and his casual manner once more. He does keep in contact with Valek who went to Matori for training, his son picking up work that he doesn't share much details about in recent years, and Tytus has taken to traveling to gather intel about other countries for a breath of fresh air from Sulburi and the memories lingering there.

❂ As Time Passes ❂

His father had been a highly respected warrior. Tytus often visited the tombstone erected in memory of his father who had been a high ranking officer in the Oban military. Even though he found himself in Sulburi for his duties in the military, Tytus would visit Jatine often. Jatine had been the perfect resting place for his fathers considering its position in comparison to the rest of the desert country. It was the main reason his family had settled here years ago and it was here that Tytus had allowed him to rest. He carefully placed his hands against the bronze gate which swung inwards with only the slightest of creaks, it was a place obviously cared for as the gate swung almost effortlessly due to its upkeep, and the grounds themselves were trimmed and full of local flowers and bushes that decorated the shimmering emerald blades of grass with various speckles of gold, crimsons and deep indigo. Standing above the gently shifting sea of emerald, amethyst, and gold colors was a strikingly white monument made of polished marble with its edges gently curved and shaped into delicate designs. It was carved and smoothed in such a way to accent the engraving in the center that showed a man riding a Xaraan in full Oban army regalia. Beneath was an inscription, 'Gen Rakgazi - A great man is one who leaves others at a loss when he is gone', and it was that inscription that Tytus always brushed his fingers across whenever he visited the tomb. It brought both sorrow and comfort for him to read the inscription for the memories it brought back. He would always take a few moments to just reflect and try to recall whatever memory came to mind about his father. Well now...fathers. The thought curved his lips downwards as he glanced across from this memorial.

Across the way a new tombstone lay in honor of another soldier, an Oban archer who had the kindest smile and the warmest gaze and had known Tytus as his own son. The pair were across from each other and yet close enough that the same desert breeze could wrap around the gleaming white monuments. Each stone had an etching on the back of a Xaraan running before an elegant sun with twisting rays. It was a mark of his family, their crest. It had broken Tytus to lose his second father only a couple of years back and he often visited this place so that he could spend time reflecting on his own life and imagining how his fathers both would have reacted to his decisions. At one point he had been such a wild child that surely he gave them hell but now he was calmer, more mature in his decisions to serve and take up their mantle. Did he still do dangerous and playful things whenever he had the chance? Certainly. But at least he held up honor and got the job done in the end despite his mischievous and playful ways. He had even helped to raise a family. The thought brought a shadowed expression across the Oban’s features as he lingered at the tombs, the pale marble pair of Xaraans rising from the ground next to the marker seemingly staring at him with sorrowful gazes.

Was this his karma for being such a bad son?

Tytus sighed as he sank into the grass and sat by the memorials. He had once come here when Arron was still alive with a certain Yaeli woman who had claimed his heart. His father’s spirit was watching them, he had told her with honest conviction. It was his way to try to appease both of their worries and to pray that his father did acknowledge Tytus and his future children. Hybrids or not they still carried their bloodline and Tytus was proud of them both. He just wished that he could have had more time with them. Joining the military had separated him from his new family and while it offered them the stability that they needed and allowed him to earn honor back for the family name it was still a sacrifice for the moments that he missed. Them learning to walk, their first words and now all of it was gone. His children were growing up and he was growing apart from everything and everyone. Despite his convictions at the time it seemed that change was inevitable. He simply was not meant to stay frozen in place for so long. His spirit was simply too wild and eager to fly free even after years of maturity.

And mature he had.

The deaths he had witnessed, the harsher battles and the passage of time had definitely matured him to a degree. Not so much that he lost his playful spirit which he often used to cover up the deeper scars of his past and sorrows but enough to change the depths of his crimson gaze. It was full of more understanding and patience than ever before. Such things made him a remarkable warrior and a good leader when push came to shove but it did nothing to change the pain that lingered in his heart. A lot of decisions were coming up for the warrior soon and even he feared to see where his path would take him. Now came the hard part of deciding where he should go next. Before when he was much younger, crucial decisions had been a hassle for the young Oban since he dreaded them so much that it constantly made his insides feel like they were being pressed onto iron spikes. Recently decisions did not cause him such grief because he had grown and learned to deal with things. The heat of battle did not allow for the luxury of time after all. He had other lives who had relied on him and he had taken charge as necessary. It was what had allowed him to move up the ranks after all the years with the army. So this truly was the first time a decision had knotted his gut so painfully in a long time. Tytus simply shook his head as he glanced back towards the memorials. “I suppose I can leave it for one more day.” He stated softly as he relaxed on the grass, his deep indigo silks spread about him as he sat there. The words did nothing to dissolve the knot in his chest as he feared he already knew his answer despite his procrastination to choose it.

Still, as always he seemed to make the most important decisions before his fathers. Tytus stared out towards Arron’s resting place and smiled. “At least you got to deal with me for a bit longer.” His second father had loved the babies and spoiled them rotten while they were toddlers. His death probably was what stirred Valek into becoming more like a miscreant than ever before. The thought made Tytus give a soft laugh. It was a repeat of his own mistakes after all. Tytus had rebelled and acted out after Gen’s death and now Valek was doing similar things with Arron gone. He was more determined to growing stronger while Tytus had flirted and ran away from duties. Tytus just prayed to the gods that Valek’s passions would not land him in some deeper troubles. Hopefully his son could find his way back into the light as Tytus had so many years ago.

“I suppose it’s time to visit Yu again.” Tytus bit his bottom lip thoughtfully. Yu had been his friend growing up and the two had never truly parted in their friendships, a blessing thanks to Tytus being able to resist the allure of Yu’s fiancee of the time. She had tried so hard to seduce Tytus and ruin the friendship between him and Yu. Instead of falling to her trap, Tytus had left his position in the estate and started his own path in the military. The flirtatious woman had finally been caught in her actions and the engagement thankfully broken off and now Yu was happily settled with another noble daughter with a kind spirit and a gentle smile. They had three children together and one of their sons was the same age as Valek. They would be going to school together along the border of Matori and Oba soon enough. Tytus had to plan for these things with Yu and once Valek was settled in he would decide where to go next with his own life. A time of peace had come across the lands after all and while war was not raging Tytus could find himself free to roam.

And roam he surely would. Tytus shifted and stood from the ground, his fingers brushing off any grass and dirt that he had gotten on his clothing. “I’ll be back to let you both know of my future.” He stated quietly as he glanced between the monuments, confirming that they were clean and the flowers decorating them fresh. He had done his duty to his fathers and to his family both. Now was the time to decide what he should do to uphold his duties to his own spirit...

❂ Stage 3 to Stage 4 Growth Solo : A Decision is Made ❂

“What should I do?”

Tytus passed the empty mug between his hands, the movement entrancing his crimson gaze as he watched the heavy clay mug bounce back and forth along the table. It had been full of ale once….perhaps twice….okay maybe ten or more times by now and he still wasn’t certain of his actual desires. What even were desires anymore? Where did he even go with his life now? Tytus let out a heavy sigh as he pushed the mug forward once more. Things had been fine until earlier in the marketplace today. He had been there with several fellow soldiers to keep an eye on things but nothing crazy or special had happened. He just witnessed several travelers coming into the market instead.

“Mama look! A wandering adventurer!” A pair of younglings had tugged on their mother’s skirts while bouncing up and down with excitement. Their golden gazes gleamed with interest as the travelers came through with tales of different worlds and strange islands full of people who could breathe underwater. Tytus had simply joked about it at the time with the others but in all honesty it had left him with a knot in his chest. Once he would have loved to explore the world. Instead he had moved up the ranks of the army to earn his place. That had kept his word to his father by allowing him to continue on his family’s legacy as well known officials in the military. He had suffered through battles to defeat darkness and now there was finally peace. So much peace that Tytus was feeling restless. He had made so many sacrifices to get to where he stood now and that included missing out on the shining moments with younglings such as the ones from the market today. He had missed out on so many moments with his own children that there was a gap which he feared could never be truly crossed. They were all distant and it felt it sorely. But the military had needed him at the time and he wanted to provide income for his children. He had refused to run away when it came to their existences and instead had matured in ways that he had never expected. From running away from my duties to fully embracing them a bit too much. He thought with a quiet chuckle, his gaze sorrowful at the realization.

Now they were growing up and it seemed that his family was functioning fine without him. Peace was also making his own work dull and Tytus had been offered something that would allow him freedom. He could leave and become like those adventurers for a time. He could actually journey to the new islands and to Belrea just gathering information. A break of sorts. The thought made him smile as he twisted the beer mug and spun it across the table. I think the time has finally come to put myself first again. The thought made his gut knot but it was true. He had provided, he had stayed and now the urge to move again was simply too strong. He had saved up plenty of coin to help keep his family safe and they were settled into the little apartment above the herbalist shop. The children were old enough to care for themselves and their mother had established herself as a healer who could support her own. Tytus had used them as an excuse for long enough.

The realization had come to him earlier whenever Valek had announced he was leaving and moving to Matori to train. Valek was no longer a youngling who looked up to him with that wide and innocent gaze. He was a testy teen instead who was on his way to becoming a strong and independent man. The thought made Tytus smile in amusement. He had not been that much older himself whenever the children had been born. So young and full of hopes. His father’s death had thrown him into a frenzy and he had ran away from responsibilities. At the time he did dream of saving up and traveling the world instead of joining the military. Finding out that he was going to become a father had changed his direction and placed him back into the military. He had changed himself to fit the role and despite his somewhat playful nature the Oban had matured into a good captain. But his desire to protect those he loved had also placed him apart from them all. Training, fighting and traveling across Oba for duties had kept him away. And when he finally could return they were older….

Older and not in need of him any longer. The depressing thought along with the buzz of the ale allowed Tytus to quickly scribble across a piece of parchment. He had been carrying it for days bouncing his decision in his mind but now it was finally time to commit. He would leave Oba and he didn’t know when he would return. “Dammit. I should order more ale.” Tytus picked up his mug and turned towards the doorway. He had rented a private room in the tavern so that he could just waste his worries away. But the alcohol had at least given him the courage to sign the parchment rolled up in his belongings. He was going to take a leave and travel the world. He was going to find himself again and embrace freedom. Just seeing those adventurers had stirred something within him and Tytus knew that traveling across the ocean could help him find what he was missing. It could be the route to finding the passions that once filled his laughter with true happiness and not something to cover up the emotions twisting deep within his soul. Tytus had grown and taken care of those that had relied upon him for the last many years but now it was time to finally pursue the desires which he had placed aside to do so.

[1004]

Tytus was a free spirit who wanted to travel the world and be like the adventurers in stories but he was not one to just leave when he had responsibilities to his family. Finding out that he was going to be a father had changed his course from freely exploring the world to becoming a hard working military man. However, the passage of time has allowed him to take care of those responsibilities and now it seems that his chance to travel has returned. Despite everything Tytus was hesitant to leave because he worried about others instead of himself. That hesitation had him procrastinate his choice for weeks until finally the day came to sign the papers and request leave of his post so that he can travel the world. Recent events and seeing adventurers in the marketplace have ignited his passions again and he finally makes the decision to leave Oba for a time so that he can find himself.
