Tytus enjoyed taking strolls in the marketplaces whenever he travelled. It gave him a good way to pass time while he was in between missions and allowed him to browse for potential gifts for the family. The family. The thought made him nearly grimace before he quickly shook off the heavy feeling that settled in his chest at the thought. Ever since his second father had passed away Tytus had poured himself into his work with the military. The charismatic lancer was known for his witty humor and his incredulous stories but beneath that surface lingered a hurt soul who was struggling with some hard life decisions. It had been a long time full of laughter and tears but perhaps it was finally time to move along. His crimson gaze darkened before he shook his head. It was not time to dwell on such matters. No, he was far more interested in the tales of the Kahikana that had spread throughout the market.

He wanted to learn more so that he could discuss the Kahi with his own squad back in Oba. For now Tytus was a free roamer, his missions taking him out to scout nearby countries and to just secure the borders of Oba in secret while the rest of the unit just stayed around Sulburi. It was a job he had opted for in place of just staying in the capital. After all, what fun was there in just sulking about the city waiting for something to happen? To think I would not get to learn more about these fish people! The thought made him grin as he leaned forward to listen to some merchants as they spoke about the race who breathed underwater and scarcely walked on land. Tytus had to wonder if he would prefer living underwater to life in the desert. Honestly it was a tempting thought and he did ponder it. If he could have a redo and chose his birth would he?

Who knows? Sighing softly under his breath the Oban moved closer to a Shifter woman who was listening to the merchant, “Do you really believe this?” He found himself asking her with a small smile, “Do you think they’ll try to come and invade our lands or find a way to flood Tendaji so that they can conquer us?” He teased lightly as he picked up on the worry surrounding the crowds.

The woman blinked, her gaze widening at the thought, “Do you think they have that type of power? What if we do get flooded and they try to drown us all?” She shook her head, “I’m not superstitious like the Yaeli but their traders did mention the spirits who have done such things back on Yael….

Tytus shook his head, “Who knows? Maybe it has been peaceful long enough and the world is readying us for a new challenge.” It was more of a tease than anything but he did have to wonder. What did the discovery of Kahikana really mean for the rest of the world? Could there really be a future war with the underwater races if things didn’t go according to plan? Whatever that plan was? Perhaps it had been peaceful long enough. The thought made his mouth purse into a fine line. Was there really something wrong with peace? They had dealt with the Dretch and now even the Extremists seemed to be but a bad tale for misbehaving children. Would these Kahikana become the next evil or did they want peace? If anything Tytus worried if the arrival of earthlings was more disruptive to the new races. What if they were the invaders this time around?

It would be nice perhaps to take a vacation overseas. He did need a break from the desert sands and he could write a report for the capital if he did venture that way. Tytus nodded at the thought before leaving the flabbergasted woman with his dark questions behind. He could pick up many rumors in the market and as entertaining as they were that was simply all that they were - rumors. A drink would be the best way to contemplate his next move and to see exactly how far he wanted to venture out into the world. I do enjoy a nice ocean breeze after being around Matori so often recently. He even had a zanteer as a familiar so why not? Maybe the ocean life was meant for him. Tytus grinned as he walked along the path to find the tavern he had a room at while staying in Neued. Only time would tell.
