It had been a quiet few nights since the snow storm. For as out of place as the weather had been, the sudden snow and drop of temperature seemed to just be a freak act of nature.

Tonight though, it wasn’t worth wasting the energy to wonder about. Tonight was just a night for sleep. Even those who had thought about heading out for the evening for holiday or work activities found that as darkness fell, they no longer had the energy or desire to do them. The only activity worth doing was curling up on the couch or in bed and sleeping the rest of the night away.

Uninterrupted sleep greets you like an old friend. Soundly, you rest until the clock strikes midnight.

And then, as if on cue, a childlike giggle echoes through the room.

It’s light enough to miss in your slumber, but an animal or pet might catch it. What isn’t easily to miss though is when a little white light, no bigger than a medicine bottle, flies over your face and--did it just kick you in the nose?

The world seems hazy as the light leads you from your bed and out the door. In a trance-like state, you have no choice but to follow it. Compelled by some magical drive, you're barely aware enough to know this isn't a dream. In an instant, you cross the door frame--only, your next step isn't as familiar as you expected. Instead, you find yourself stepping into the center of the ice maze from the Winter Carnival. The question of how you got there seems only a fleeting thought; like all dreams, you know it doesn't make sense but in the hazy illusion it doesn't seem like something that concern you. The fairy, little more than an orb of light to your eyes, flies off to join others of its kind in front of the ice sculpture. You cannot see anyone else, but you can see them. From where you stand, can hear the light laughter of the fairy's voices and for a moment they look like a beautiful display of flickering lights--but then, a bright flash of light disrupts all of that.

The white is enveloping and blinding and shocks you into consciousness. No longer are you lead on a phantom track; you have gained your autonomy and full awareness of everything around you.

Instead of the ice maze, you find yourself standing in an open clearing clearly not anywhere in the city. It is snowing all around you. A forest of trees circle you but just above them you can see smoke rising not too far in the distance.

A fire? Warmth?

It's getting colder by the moment and the longer you stand there, the harder the snow falls. Sans the friendly plume of smoke in the distance, there doesn't seem to be any signs of life; there is no shelter, no one, but...

If you want to find who's out there--and your way home--you need to find out where that fire's coming from.

Quote:
Anyone in possession of a Snow Fairy has been hit with the sudden need to sleep. Try as you might to fight, the drowsiness will overtake you. Once you are in the haze of sleep, your fairy awakens and guides you to some strange location; you are too tired to realize what's going on until it's too late! You do not have to have responded to any of the previous prompts; you can handwave your character coming into possession of an ice fairy or roleplay it out! All that matters is that your character ICly acquired one prior to this event starting.

Your character will find themselves inexplicably drawn to the fire, as if there is something pulling them towards it. You will not be able to explore in any other direction, and if you linger for too long it will feel as though something is pulling your hand to guide you towards the smoke.

Prompts will come ~every 20 hours; due to the busy holiday schedule you should expect a new post between 7-10pm EST but there may be some fluctuation. If you miss a prompt, you will be able to make it up; you simply need to respond to it whenever you can or address it when you respond to the next prompt. There will be a small dice rolling portion for this event and you will need to roll in time if you want to be considered for any IC prizes! While you can make up the rolls to continue advancing in the story, if you miss the cutoff date you will be ineligible for any rewards based on roll.

You can claim a raffle ticket for participation in this ORP; once you hit 500 words you can post in the raffle thread! The ORP does not need to be complete to get a raffle ticket. If you want to use this towards growth, you will need to participate in the RP and make a closing post, though! Once you arrive, you cannot power up!. This event is for civilians only; if you have a Mauvian or Youma/Half-youma who acquired one of the fairies you will find yourself in civilian glamour with no magical abilities. It will not cost youma or half youma any magic to maintain their civilian guise and Mauvians will appear human without any Mauvian appendages (no ears, tail, claws or forehead star), even if they have not unlocked the stage. However, in this ORP they will have no energy signature and no magical abilities.

If you have any questions, please PM the shop mule and we will get back to you as soon as possible! The event is scheduled to end on the evening of the 29th but due to prompt delays may end on the 30th. If you are worried you won't be able to post to claim a raffle ticket by then (ticket claims will end on the 31st), remember that you can post to claim a ticket as soon as you hit 500 words!

Queenie Powers

She was absolutely exhausted.

Queenie had blamed her shopping and baking as the main sources of energy draining but she was supposed to be meeting up with some classmates for some well-earned after semester drinks but for some reason or another, her momentary pause on the couch had turned into a little longer than a moment's nap. Sleep dragged her under, fiery hair finding its way on the decorative pillow her mother had fallen in love with from Pier One, the blanket over the side of the couch finding its way over her shoulder as she snuggled in for an impromptu nap.

As far as dreams went, this one was very odd.

She wasn't shopping, she wasn't doing any of the things she normally did when she slept (which was mainly related to unlimited funded shopping sprees or living her best life as someone's rich, happy little wife). No, some little annoying little light ball was zipping around, Queenie following after it in her lounge wear that she'd meant to change out of but hadn't bothered due to her exhaustion. One minute she was home and the next she was back at the carnival --- huh. She didn't remember the trip but... well, the journey wasn't the important in a dream, right?

Only, it didn't feel like a dream... not with how cold it was. The giggle and the bright light was enough to send Queenie's mind reeling, pink eyes blinking as she was startled fully awake from her trance.

Wait... what?

There was nothing. Nothing. No living room, no couch, no ice maze, nothing. Just a pillar of smoke in the distance and a frigid cold that was sending her into a fit of shivers.

Hands immediately flew up to begin rubbing themselves as she shuffled through the snow, making her way towards the smoke. Where there was smoke there was a fire and where there was fire there were people and if she was going to get out of this strange, freezing situation, she was going to need someone with a phone for her to arrange a Lyft from.

Dria Bones

Dria (18 years old) blamed her exhaustion on the prank that that kid in the woods had played with his stereo causing her to run screaming through the woods until she tripped over his stereo and slammed her eye into a tree root. She had gotten a nice shinner for that. Plus Grams had been feeding her cabbage and beans, because she thought she'd gotten into a fight and wouldn't listen to what really happened. Grams was out of control. Anyways, she had been sleeping most of the last few days.

Now she found herself with the fairy again. She followed the fairy all the way to the carnivale, but the carnival wasn't there, nor was the ice maze. There was just smoke. Smoke and a fire. There was a massive fire. Dria was incredibly towards it and as she came closer, there seemed to be a woman following her own fairy, a rich woman (Queenie). "Um hello, is someone there?"

Curled into his bed, warm to the point of almost over heating, Xi-Wang was dead to world as far as anyone should be concerned. He was asleep and not about to wake up, he'd been hard to wake up lately, but he did wake up. It wasn't the laughter in his room which did it, though it did stir the feline he now had as a companion, it was rather a kick to the nose which woke him. It felt more like a sharp flick, than a kick, but given the size of what hit his nose it made sense.

He wasn't exactly awake as he got up out of his bed and followed the light out of his room, or he might have been alerting Jason and Nischal, but instead he followed the light and once he passed his bedrooms door frame he was no longer in his room or in the apartment. He was...the ice maze? He didn't really register it, or he would have been shocked and panicked over this sudden change in scenery, but instead he just sort of noticed where he was with an unemotional sort of appearance. This was a dream right? Just like all the rest had been...only this one was different. But it was the same place. So it was the same - a dream.

The laughter he heard this time as he watched little glowing orbs of light gather where the statue was, so many of them, there was such a bright light it was nearly blinding. It was enough to cause him to close his eyes, that had started to water at some point, as he wondered just what was going on. Like drifting awake from a dream he was brought around to the fact that he was awake and wasn't dreaming. He wasn't home and he was in his pajamas and he was freezing!

The maze was gone and in it's place a forest and snow...and nothing. There was smoke in the distance, not too far in the distance, and that's where he headed. He was already shivering, his arms going about himself, as he ignored the others there for the moment. Right now he needed to get warm and figure out where he was. He didn't have his henshin pen with him so he couldn't power up, not that there were any mirrors about so he could mirror walk home, he didn't like this. He should have told them about the statues. This had to be them, it was the only thing which made sense as to the cause of this, the light had brought him to the maze and the statue was from completing the maze. It all tied together...but now what? What would be waiting for them all at the fire?

There really was only one way to find out but he was leery of it - he didn't trust it. He had no choice though...he needed that fire, he needed to get warm. So towards it he trekked.

Ashley Williams

She was supposed to be in the UK.

Supposed to be, but between the hot chocolate that had made her ill and the sudden storm that had blown a few nights back - and that was not counting the exhaustion that she had been feeling later.

Either way, it had made more sense for Ashley to remain in the States.

Even pottering around the apartment had seemed like too much effort, instead she had found herself on the couch in the lounge area with another tub of ice cream and pretty much every blanket that she owned, fumbling for where she had stashed the remote so that she could flick through the channels–

Well at least that had been the plan, although at some point it seemed that she had succumbed to the exhaustion that was pretty much a near constant companion, unaware of the tub of partially eaten ice cream that slipped from fingers that had gone slack or the remote that went clattering to the floor.

She was unaware of the ringing of her mobile and slept through the programme playing on the TV and the several others that followed, Ashley even slept through the chiming of the clock - although given the way that she had been sleeping through her alarm lately, that was perhaps not so peculiar–

In fact it was only when something cold hit her in the nose, that slumber finally started to loose its grip on her - although given the way that she hazily followed the small white light as it led her across the room and over to the door frame, perhaps told volumes about just how 'awake' she was as she stepped trance-like into the centre of the Winter Carnival's maze.

The flash of white light shocked her into full consciousness, grey eyes widening as Ashley took in her surroundings - or make that lack of surroundings given that here, wherever here was, was clearly not her apartment.

Instead she appeared to be in an open clearing of some sort, one that appeared by a circle of trees–

And it was cold, most likely because it was snowing, the snow drifting silently down.

There was smoke in the distance though and what appeared to be figures heading towards it - and well it looked like they had a good idea - because standing in the clearing and waiting for the snow to turn her into a human-shaped popsicle really didn't appeal and so Ashley trudged after them, a part of her hoping as she did so that the smoke was at least coming from some sort of fire–

Fire and hopefully a telephone and some cover from the snow.

Cerise had wanted to wake up at first. She had heard the sound but hadn't really registered it, and so was easily able to ignore it and drift back to sleep where she had been for most of the winter holiday. It wasn't until something flicked her nose that she finally woke up long enough to whimper and whine, flapping at the attacker -- whom she presumed to be her mother or father.

"I'm not hungry," she insisted, pulled the covers back over her head to escape her parents. However, awake as she was now, she was able to really hear the laughter. Still, she didn't come out from under the covers right away, instead calling weakly, "Momma? Papa?"

When no answer came, she poked her head out from under the covers to see what had flicked her nose, fully expecting to see a monster that she would need to hide from right away.

Instead of that, however, Cerise was met with a rather enchanting ball of light dancing around her face. While not really calmed, her worry melted away and as it zoomed around her room and out her bedroom door Cerise felt compelled to follow. However, when she pulled open her bedroom door, she wasn't met with the hallway that led to her parents' room, but rather she was deposited into the middle of... wait. Was this the ice maze?

All alone and so small among the towering icy walls, Cerise watched as the orb of light which had accompanied her flew over the join her friends, dancing around the icy woman in the center. Had she called Cerise there? The child reached out again, standing on her tippy toes to touch the woman's' hand again. She was still made of ice... but then why did she call Cerise there? Was Cerise wrong the whole time and she truly was meant to be a princess? Was this the queen of a mysterious ice castle calling to her?

There was a flash of light that caught Cerise to topple over in fright and land on her rump in the snow. The woman and her fairies were gone and so was the maze and Cerise looked around, hoping that she had fallen out of bed.

No such luck.

All she saw around her was snow and trees and night and the more she looked around the less she saw. Panic rose in her tiny birdcage chest, causing her to breath harder and harder until a small, high-pitched, and terrified scream erupted from her lips and dissolved into a torrent of hysterical sobs peppered with a pitiful "Momma! Papa!" every couple of seconds.

Seren had been curled up, warm and cozy in bed, at her boyfriend's place, where she had been spending the past few days. She slept better when she was with him, and was generally happier, too, so she stayed over when it worked out well for both of them. Tonight he was... in the hospital, sadly, so she was here, to watch 'their' dog (His, really, but he called Remy theirs, so she felt safe calling Remy their dog) while he was unable to do so. She had gone to bed feeling tense and a little concerned about Nate, but had found it fairly easy to fall asleep.

When the feeling of something woke her nose, she batted her hand around, confused. "R... Remy...?" She mumbled, thinking she had forgotten to close the bedroom door and the mischievous little doggo had come in. Her hand... did not encounter the fur of a dog, however, so she opened her eyes, half sitting up in confusion. And then she saw the ball of light. It was quite lovely, but she was a little suspicious.... Where had it come from? Was it a... youma? Had it harmed Remy? She jumped up, shoving her feet into the warm slippers she kept by the bed and shoving her glasses onto her face, running after it towards the door into the living room. It was weird, it felt... like being in a dream or a trance, to be honest, even though she was pretty sure she was not dreaming.

And then she was not in the living room, where she should have ended up. No, she was, instead, in the... Ice Maze? What was she doing in the ice maze? She stared around, her blue eyes wide behind her lenses, starting to shiver from the cold already, and the confusion. How had she gotten to the ice maze? But no matter, she had, and... The light ball was a fairy, of course it was a fairy, and oh look! The statue of the fairies was glowing, they were all laughing. It was lovely and... OW. The sudden, bright flash of light blinded her completely, making her step back and cover her face.

But at least she found herself feeling much more like herself, able to really think and focus, and, unfortunately, process the cold fully. When her eyes cleared, she stared around, her expression a deep frown of worry and displeasure. This DEFINITELY wasn't Destiny City, Remy, and such a pity the little dog was not here. She could really use the comfort of her corgi son. She was about to call for help when she saw... smoke. Smoke meant fire... Fire meant warmth... She turned towards it, and started to move, but she heard the sound of a scream. A child's scream.

She froze completely for a long moment, eyes scanning the snow, and then she spotted a small figure, crying out for their parents. Seren took a long, deep breath, then began to run as fast as she could, given the snow, towards the child. The child was between her and the smoke, maybe a little to the side, and Seren found it hard to move in that direction, but she managed to get very close to the child. They appeared to be a little girl, though Seren did not make assumptions. She was able to JUST BARELY reach over and touch the child. "Hello, sweetheart! Do you want some help?" Her voice was warm and kind, and gentle... Her heart was thumping with worry for the little one, however... Children's terrors were so powerful, and she hoped she could calm the child down... They needed to get to that fire, and fast.

Tama, Guardian Cat... or is he?

What a beautiful crystal fairy! I must possess one...

That is what Hoshi-no-Tama - Mauvian and guardian cat - had thought quite vainly to himself when he first saw the figurine. It was dainty, delicate and made of a clear crystal which, if looked at in just the right light, almost appeared to be made of pure ice. How such a pretty little fairy with a pair of translucent wings and a realistic child-like smile was crafted - the grey cat just had to know! With his violet eyes scheming, Tama had devised a plan to sneak into the maze, out of sight of any humans that may disapprove of a feline walking about the carnival, and take one of the small, well-crafted sculptures into his discerning paws for his own.

It wasn’t til he got home - that poor boy Alphone’s excuse for living quarters - that he became quite sleepy. Tama enjoyed a good nap like most house cats, yet this was far more than a mere bit of shut eye. It seemed to him that he must sleep and his body would not let him do other wise.

But it wasn’t just the strangeness of his sudden slumber. The night was filled with dreams. Tama didn’t tend to dream, at least, not like this. This felt almost real.

The dream went like this:

He was in a field, alone. Nothing was around but the cold winter air. He tried to see past the falling water crystals, but he could not. There was nothing for the longest time, but then, out of nowhere, a small speck of glowing white light. It was a fairy. She was crying, but he didn’t know why. A cold sensation, like ice, on his wet nose and then, a voice -

‘Please... help us.’

At least, that’s what the cat had thought it said, but he must admit that he awoke suddenly and didn’t quite recall if anything was said or done after, just the silence of the wind.

Tama had thought about the voice of his dreams for days now. So much so that, when all of a sudden he felt the need to sleep, he wasn’t all that surprised that he, once again, dreamt dreams of fairies and lights and ice crystals.

What he was surprised by was something he could hardly have imaged in his wildest feline’s dreams...

... Tama was human!

This cannot be... He mused as he struggled to his feet - only two! - and tried to walk upright towards the fire.

Why... He questioned as he looked at his hands - without claws! - and rubbed together his fingers in the warmth.

But how. he began again. Yet there was one more thing... one very big (yet little) thing... that would cause the former cat to absolutely lose it.

For his short, stout tail was gone...

... replaced by the longest, silkiest, most beautiful silver locks of hair he ever did see!

Daisy Grace

Daisy had been perfectly happy to be conked out on her couch, wrapped tightly in a fleece blanket. Sure, it probably wasn't healthy to be so sleepy, but who cared? Then, she'd felt what could only have been described as a tiny kick right in the nose. Head jerking back and eyes flying open, she stared at the tiny, white, giggling light. Oh. Okay, she was clearly dreaming.

Clearly.

Smiling sleepily up at the fairy and slowly began to move. It was rude to sleep when you had guests after all. At the back of her mind, some inner voic was shrieking that this was not a dream, but the pleasant haze over everything quickly over ruled it. Besides, she'd just gone through her front door and right into the ice maze in nothing but flannel PJs and fuzzy socks. No way she'd do something that dumb if she were awake.

Besides, she was getting to watch fairies dancing and listening to their laughter. As dreams went, this was a pretty nice one.

Smiling, Daisy was ready to assume she'd wake up and be right back on her couch. Only, instead of the gentle glow of a lamp, she was treated to a blindingly white flash of light. Gasping a little, her whole body jerked as she stared around her with wild, wide eyes. The maze had vanished and been replaced by a forest in a snowfall. And she was standing there like an idiot in her pajamas.

Off in the distance, she could see a plume of smoke rising. Smoke meant fire. Fire meant warmth. A quick glance around was proof enough that she was alone and it was getting colder the longer she waffled.

"Doubt a forest fire would last in this s**t," she muttered as she began to hike, eyes focused on the plume. All she really knew was it was cold, her feet were in danger of freezing and she had seemingly one shot at not becoming a popsicle.

Helen Hall

Someone at that damn carnival had been sick, Helen was sure of it, because ever since she and Harley had been there they'd both been feeling under the weather. It wasn't horrible at first, just a sense of lethargy that was inconvenient at worst, but that had persisted, and Helen had been having the weirdest ******** dreams, and it had been a challenge to stay warm.

This dream, a fairy fluttering into her room and kicking her in the ******** nose, hadn't really been surprising. Realizing that, and that she was dreaming in the first place, was. And everything had been fine. Dreams were weird and this one fell in line with that, right up until the dream ******** shattered and Helen found herself standing in the middle of nowhere in the sweater and shorts she'd gone to bed in and freezing her a** off.

Teeth chattering, curses falling from her lips like water from a fountain, she hurried through the softly falling snow towards the sight and smell of smoke in hopes of finding a way to get warm. Her feet were frozen, legs tingling with the chill, and with every cold step the anger and confusion was being eaten away by concern over the very unpleasant, very dangerous situation she'd found herself in.

This was so not the way she wanted to die. ******** that. She needed to get out of here.

Harley Jennings

She didn't know what the ******** happened, but ever since she came back from the maze with the fairy statue, she had felt sick. But not like sick sick. Like exhausted sick. Like tired and her body couldn't stay up sick. She texted Helen and told the woman what was going on and even then it was like....apparently her best girl caught it too.

Lots of apologies were sent out as she curled up in her empty house and placed the shawl around her. She was dressed in her flannel pajama's and a thick sweater and socks because she was a creature of comfort in her own home. Plus she was always cold when she slept.

Eventually she did fall asleep, to dreams of fairies and dancing and something kicking her in the nose. She rubbed at it, not realizing that she had slept walked right into.....

The middle of the maze.

"Helen?" Disorientated, the silver girl called out before pulling her shawl closer. Her feet soaked from the cold snow in her socks. She was slow to the uptake when she realized she was back in the maze, her eyes widening. As if out of habit, she patted pockets or....her pants and realized she had no phone. No shoes.

It was snowing and she was stuck in the maze. In the distance was a thick plume of smoke, and that meant PEOPLE and FIRE. So obviously it had to be the way to go.

But how the ******** did she get out here?

Jesus. She'd have to lock the doors next time.

Walking through the forest towards the smoke, the sounds of a battle reach you. In the distance, you can hear what sounds like swords cracking against each other. When you make it just a little closer to the final wall of trees, you begin to see glimpses of what was happening on the other side.

In front of you, people dressed just in blue and white uniforms fight against...rats? Rats, as big as a man, that walk on two legs and wield swords with the same grace and dexterity as could be expected of any soldier.

Before you can take too much in, a man in solid white breaks away from the fight and runs towards you looking very much relieved to see your appearance--and the appearance of others passing through the clearing at the same time. When he speaks, it feels like he's speaking directly to you.

“Oh thank goodness! You must be the reinforcements! Come, there isn’t much time! We need your help to push back the King of Vermin!”

He wastes little time to explain; he gestures for you to join him and, once again, you feel compelled as a strange, otherworldly compassion passes through you. He charges into battle, sword raised, and didsappears in the commotion.

You move to follow him, inspired by his request, but as you take a step your food nudges something on the ground. You don't have much time to inspect it, but it is very clearly a weapon--and one you need to wield, immediately; it seems that the rats have just noticed your presence and are trying to charge you before you can get a grip on what's going on. They appear in droves, swarming the treeline with weapons raised.

It's clear by the malice in their eyes that they don't intend to take prisoners.

Quote:
The weapons that appear before you are semi-customizable; they must be some sort of medeival weapon and must follow a few guidelines: no magic, no ranged weapons (only close combat), and no gun powder or fire power related weapons.

Every Player should roll a 1d100 ONCE to determine how well they do in battle. You may post multiple times but you can only roll once. Any other rolls will not be counted. If you make a mistake, please note so in your post. Do not delete it!

1-25: The rats over take you. It is all you can do to keep standing on your own feet. They leave light lacerations and strike so quickly you barely have time to defend yourself. You suffer minor to moderate injuries (at player discretion) but it isn't enough to incapacitate you.
26-50: The push forward is difficult but you keep your wits about you and are able to fight them back a bit. Winded and heavily targeted, you wonder how long you can keep this up! You suffer minor injuries but nothing enough to really slow you down.
51-75: Rats fall in your path! Several manage to land blows but very few can stand against you. You recieve little to no damage.
76-100: You shine in battle crushing your enemies with every blow. Nothing can touch you and you raise moral as you move forward!

If you missed the first prompt, you are still free to join at any point in time! Full information can be found in the OOC note in the first post of the thread.

For just a second Helen thought she'd heard Harley's voice riding the in the chilly night air and it made her pause, brows creasing as she looked back over her shoulder, but she couldn't see anything. No lights, no buildings, no people. Nothing behind, just the smoke and promising glow of a fire up ahead between the trees.

Lips pursed, the girl shook her head and started walking again. At this point her feet ached, legs having gone numb. Every step was hard, and she needed to get out of the cold and somewhere at least slightly warmer or she was risking frostbite, hypothermia, worse.

Reaching the trees and the fire beyond should have been a relief. There'd been shadows moving against the soft glow, people that could potentially help her, but as she stepped into the clearing she realized that was not even remotely close to the case. There were soldiers in uniforms fighting against...

"What the <********> did I just step into?" It was a God damned melee. Something pulled from the stage of a Russian ballet and made real, nightmarish. Were these things youma? They had to be, didn't they?

The soldier approaching drew her attention from the battle and onto him, but he had nothing comforting to say. He wanted her to fight, needed her to, and she found, even against her better judgement, that she felt compelled to do so. It was her duty after all. She was a defender of justice, a soldier in her own right, and if she ran now, what sort of a warrior was she?

As the rats flooded out from the far tree line Helen took a quick step back and damn near tripped as her heal caught on the handle of something heavy. It was large, cumbersome to wield, but as she gave the mace a practice swing she had to admit it'd do a lot of damage to whatever she managed to hit with it. If she could hit anything with it.

It was a slow weapon, and the rats were fast. A lot faster than she was able to bring the mace up and swing it. They swarmed in on all sides, claws and blades slashing at her arms, legs, and body, and Helen cried out as they surrounded her, closing in. Overwhelming.

Harley was pretty miserable about the whole experience, and the closer she got the fire, the more she heard the sounds of battle. Battle like...not senshi battling, or youma fighting but the kind she had seen in movies. Old fashioned fighting.

Lo and behold, the closer she got to the fire, the less she actually wanted to be there. There was soliders and...rats? fighting. A solider came up to her, begging for her help and she she almost refused him. She was cold, she wasn't out here to be fighting in some nutcracker batshit fight.

Except she saw the flash of blue and black, tanned skin. She knew her best friend anywhere. She grabbed the nearest weapon, a spear from a fallen solider and attempted to rush towards the woman.

As she did though, the line broke that was keeping rats back and she got overwhelmed by them. She swung her spear but it stuf in one rat and then disappeared in the group of them. Weapon pierced at her, and she managed to dodge enough that it was only cuts against her clothes, blood staining her flannel pajama's.

She just need to get her weapon back....with as much voice as she could, she managed to call out for her friend.

"HELEN!"
