Here in this enclosed area, we have many rare poke'mon that are enclosed in their natural habitat, some of which are only available here. This is a trainer's paradise, and we're now releasing it to the public. So come on in, have a blast, and catch some poke'mon!
Here are the rules that apply to the Safari Zone: 1 ) No Surfing 2 ) No Fishing 3 ) Poke'mon can appear every 3 posts. 4 ) Pokemon do not battle, and thus cannot gain battle exp here 5 ) All wild poke'mon appear at level 25. 6 ) Your options are when a wild poke'mon appears: A-throw Safari Ball, B-throw a rock, C-throw bait, D-Flee. Note that Safari Balls have a capture ratio of 4/10. However, like the games, throwing a rock or some bait will influence the capture. IF you throw a rock, the ratio goes up by 10% (ie, 4/10 becomes 5/10), whereas if you throw some bait, the capture ratio goes down (4/10 becomes 3/10). So please pay attention to this. 7 ) Wild poke'mon will flee after 3 turns of watching, 2 if they're hit with mud/rocks, 4 if they're given bait. If it is not a turn the poke'mon is supposed to flee, then they will watch carefully. 8 ) The pokemon are split up into 'regions'. You may only, therefore, roll for one region at a time. Your character logically can't be in more than one region at a time, so if you decide to start trying for a pokemon in a region other than the one you were going for, you must only roll for that new region's list. 9 ) You may choose what region you want your character to be in (and thus what pokemon you are rolling for), but again, you can only be in one region at a time. 10 ) Only allowed to enter from Lilycove, Fortree, or Mt Pyre.
-3 posts are required. You must roll for only one region at a time; depending on the region, you may either roll a four sided dice (one region only), or generate a number between 1-5
Wild Pokemon: Region A 1=Oddish 2=Gloom 3=Girafarig 4=Natu
Region B 1=Doduo 2=Wobbufet 3=Phanpy 4=Pinsir 5=Sunkern
Region C 1=Mareep 2=Aipom 3=Spinarak 4=Snubull 5=Stantler
Region D 1=Gligar 2=Teddiursa 3=Pineco 4=Shuckle 5=Heracross
Pokemon Levels, Hp & Exp: Remember that all poke'mon appear at level 25!

Jay gave a half mocking, half sincere laugh to Sebastian's joke. "Nice. And ah can't even defend mahself. Ah ain't gotta clue whether ah'd pass fer mah real age," he remarked with amusement, "Yer uh true friend, Sebs." He tilted his head a little when Sebastian seemed to try and insist on the validity of him using that 'pick up line', his smile a bit fainter now. "Ah dunno..." He put on a grin. "Ah've heard mah eyes alone can kinda unnerve people. 'N flirtin' ain't really been much've uh thing in mah life." He smirked. "If it ever comes, though, ah'll be sure ta try it. 'N then when it fails horribly, ah'll jus' tell em it was yer idea. Make sure ah get yer full name so ah can properly 'credit chya."
Jay nodded a little when Sebastian repeated his wording, too. "Mm, y'know... kid stuff. Fallin' outta trees, trippin' on PJ's 'n breakin' yer nose, wanderin' in fronta thuh heards, gettin' lost. Just all sortsa li'l adventures 'n such," he listed off absently, as if all of those were completely normal, and as if there wasn't one that was a bit unlike the others. He smiled a bit more lightly when Sebastian replied to his comment. "Yew are," he reassured him. 'Decent enough' might not have been the biggest compliment, but he was also more than that as far as Jay was concerned. The ginger just wasn't really the sort to lay on the heavy compliments, especially not when the conversation was just light and casual.
The cowboy's eyebrows rose a bit when Sebastian described his starter, but a smile crossed his face. "Ah believe it," he replied with a bit of a chuckle. Certainly the spunkiness of it. "How is Naps, anyway? He ain't been out much lately, has he?" he inquired. At least, Jay hadn't personally heard him, but he might have also always been missing him. They had been doing mostly contest stuff lately, after all, which didn't really require any of their hard hitters to be out.
As Sebastian found the Safari Zone, they headed in, and Jay shifted to step around to be beside Scy as they entered and were greeted by the attendee. "Hello, and welcome to the Safari Zone! Here you can try and catch many of our variety of pokemon, but battling is not allowed. It also takes a small fee to enter, but we provide the pokeballs. Would you like to enter the Safari Zone?" she offered. Jay nodded, stepping forward a bit. "Yes please, ma'am, but... when yew say battlin' ain't allowed, does that mean we can't have our pok'mon out at all?" he asked. She frowned a little. "Oh, well... It's not encouraged, since their presence could still scare many of the wild pokemon, and battles could ensue even without you meaning to allow it. We want to avoid damage and any harm to the pokemon...""Well, see, ahm kinda blind," Jay started with a slight smile, tilting his hat up a bit to make it easier to confirm he was telling the truth, "'N mah pok'mon help me. Ah could let mah zubat back out, since she's small 'n ain't done any real battlin', but she's perty tired. S'alright if mah scizor stays out, at least?" he asked. She eyed Scy a moment, but then smiled. "I see, well... I suppose that would be alright," she conceded. He gave an appreciative nod, paying his fee, and moving out towards the Sarari Zone with Scy's help, striding a bit more quickly than before. He lifted his head, inhaling as they stepped out, turning to wait for Sebastian to join them. "See anywhere ya'd like ta go?" he asked.

Sebastian let out a proper laugh. "Hey, there are some who kill to hear that kind of thing you know. I’m just kidding with you though." He remarked, still smiling a bit as he did. He gave a faux hurt expression, placing a hand to his chest."I only get recognition if it goes bad? What if it works wonderfully for you a bunch of times?" He pretended to sound a bit hurt at the implication, tone clearly faked with a hint of amusement behind it.
His expression faded to surprise though. "Tripping on… PJs?" That was certainly something he’d never expected to hear about. Tripping? Sure. Tripping on PJs? That was a little much. Tripping and breaking your nose? Ouch. He shivered a bit at the thought. "Well… that all sounds exciting. And painful." The worst he’d ever done is fall in a hole; dirt was soft though so that was probably why he’d never properly broken anything. But then again it was pretty obvious Jay was a tough one; he probably wouldn’t have gotten this far if he wasn’t. Though he was beginning to remember the whole accident prone comment from back in the haunted house. It sounded like it wasn’t a thought but a full blown fact. Goodness.
Sebastian smirked a little. "Heh well. Thank you. You’re pretty swell too." He complimented back. It was good to see that maybe Jay wouldn’t be startled off or anything or at least thought well enough of him. At least that’s what he was taking away from it. Who really knew though. Concerning Naps, he grinned and shook his head. "He’s alright thanks. He’s gotten quite a bit bigger to be honest, though he’s still lazy.” Sebastian wasn’t sure the last time Naps had been around when Jay was… how long ago did he evolve into a Typhlosion? It’d been a while. He’d need to let his team out to breath a bit once they were somewhere more open. They deserved it.
He listened quietly as the attendee informed them of how the Safari Zone worked, frowning a little as Jay confronted the bit of an issue he had. He couldn’t imagine how much trouble that’d be if he couldn’t keep his pokemon. He also didn’t know if Jay would be wanting his help if he couldn’t either. He had to wonder how much of a constant pain this issue could be for the cowboy. Fortunately, the attendant allowed him to keep his pokemon and soon Sebastian was following along after, paying his own fee and retrieving the pokeballs intended for use in the zone. With a slightly wide-eyed gaze he looked around the park. When Jay asked his question, Sebastian perked up and took a look at a nearby map. He studied it a moment, running a gloved finger across it before tapping a particular area and looking around. "How about this Region B place? It’s about in the middle of this place so I think that’s a good place to start." With a nod of affirmation –mostly to himself- and gestured, leading the way to the path that’d take them to the B region of the Safari Zone. He kept an eye out, catching glimpses of various wild pokemon frolicking and just enjoying themselves. They seemed rather happy living in this place. It must’ve been nice. It was a shame they couldn’t let their pokemon out; they might’ve enjoyed the scenery too.

Jay quirked an eyebrow at that. "Kill ta hear they don' even look 21? Yer kiddin', right?" Oh Arceus he hoped he was kidding. He'd heard about that kind of thing, though. The paranoia and concern people had with aging and appearance. At least in that way, he supposed he was kind of lucky, because it wasn't something he had to worry about that much. Of course... his inability to even check his appearance led to some awkward moments but... at least he had an excuse. And he'd gotten pretty good at brushing all that off. He smirked a bit when Sebastian oh so cleverly caught on to what he was doing. "Well ah mean, if ahm flirtin', obviously ah wanna take credit fer things that make me look good, right?" he joked back, "Ain't that the whole point've all that? Compliment, 'n make yerself look good?" Not... that he was exactly an expert in this, but he wasn't being serious, anyway.
He chuckled a little bit at Sebastian's response to his list of 'mishaps'. "What, you never did none of that? No tree climbin' or hill hoppin' 'r nothin'?" he asked. Lavender, admittedly, didn't seem like the kind of town with all the attractions and fun things to do, especially given what attraction it did have, but still. Sebastian had been a kid, he must have done some stuff like that, right? But maybe he'd been the sort of kid that was more laid back and content to stay still for a while, or just helped his parents or something. If only Jay's parents had been so lucky.
Jay chuckled at Sebastian's returned compliment, grinning and giving a tip of his hat. "Much obliged," he replied very much playfully, trying not to laugh. He dropped his hand back down to his side, keeping his other hand on Scy while he helped guide him around. "Yeah ah bet. Y'all do much trainin' when yew were out doin' 'errands'?" he asked. They'd been gone a good while, after all, but that didn't necessarily mean Sebastian had had time to get any training in too.
While they talked, Jay followed Scy out to the Safari Zone, taking in the different sounds and smells around. It sure sounded open, though he could tell there were some hills, maybe trees, and such around too. He turned as he heard Sebastian speak up on where to go. "Sounds good," he agreed, moving forward, which he assumed to be the right direction. Scy confirmed this by proceeding there too, angling a bit more to better head towards the center Sebastian was indicating. "Yew seein' many pok'mon?" he asked, lowering his hand, then dropping it from Scy, simply shadowing the scizor as he walked, "'Cause I'm perty sure I'm hearin' a few..." He frowned, slowing. "In fact ah think one's approachin'..." He lifted his head, turning to better hear, reaching for one of the pokeballs as the pokemon hopped out in front. "Woobbufet!""Nope." Jay promptly put the ball back, and continued walking.

"Oh yeah, you’d be surprised." Sebastian thought a moment. At least, he’d encountered a few people like that. He didn’t quite understand the obsession himself; sure it was alright to want to look good and all, but the level of obsession he’d seen was crazy. He chuckled a lttle, glancing at Jay again, an eyebrow quirking. "Ah, I see how it is." He gave another faux hurt tone. "Well then I’ll just have to correct them and say it was all your idea. And then you’ll look silly." He gave Jay a gentle nudge. "No better way to look bad then to try and pass your lame pick-ups off as someone else’s fault you know." He remarked in a matter-of-factly tone. "You’ll lose all the prospective dates that way."
Sebastian shook his head. "Nope. Not really. Lavender Town is considerably flat actually." The whole town itself was rather… downtrodden? Peaceful? Something like that; it didn’t really lend itself towards the loud and rambunctious. At least not when he was growing up. "Plus… I’m not very good with heights to begin with." He admitted. Climbing a tree wasn’t really something you tended to do when the long drop down caused you to freeze up. That was probably an accident waiting to happen. "I just mostly helped my parents. And dug holes." ‘Excitement’ wasn’t exactly a well used word in the dictionary that was Sebastian’s life.
He smirked a little and nodded. "Well you’re quite welcome." Sebastian shifted his attention to looking around, taking in the wildlife and keeping an eye out for any odd pokemon he might be interested in catching. When Jay inquired about training he paused a moment. Right… that brought to mind recent happenings. "We did actually. I took on a few gyms along the way… figured I’d get them out of the way." He replied casually. Maneuvering to the region he looked around and gave a nod. "There’s tons… it’s impressive. And a little scary actually." he was used to wild pokemon trying to attack and having a means of defense. He only felt slightly more comfortable with the fact that they seemed considerably docile in the Zone. While Jay encountered the Woobbufet, Sebastian dodged a Sunkern that had fallen from the tree. Apparently there were a few of them nestled up there. He stared at the seed pokemon a moment, watching as it rolled away. "Well okay then…,"

Jay shook his head, pulling off his hat to run a hand back through his hair. "Ah honestly don' think ah could ever understand that," he remarked, shaking his head. He shoved his hat back on, straightening up. "Even if ah could see, ah don' think ah could." Not that he could say that for sure, but he just... didn't really understand it. And admittedly some of that was likely because he really couldn't understand it, it just wasn't really possible, but... Even the concept boggled him. It would definitely remain out of his reach of understanding, that was for sure. In the meantime, he scoffed at Sebastian's threat, but his grin wasn't diminished by it. "Yeah? 'N how d'ya plan on convincin' 'em, hm? Ya don' seem like that good've uh liar," he accused, grin turning a bit more sly, "Considerin' yer clearly lyin' now..."
Jay shook his head. "Ain't there that cave tunnel nearby, though? Ya don' never 'splored that?" he asked. He paused when Sebastian mentioned heights, giving a conceding nod, and a bit of a playful smile. "Ah, tha's right. Le's hope none've the remainin' gym leaders pose challenges with that again, then, hm?" he remarked. Heights were one of those weird things for Jay; they, of course, did not fear them inherently, because he couldn't 'look down', but they weren't good for him, either, because he couldn't really listen down, which meant he often missed, well... sudden drops. Which were not a good thing to miss. "Dug holes," he repeated with faint amusement, "That's... gotta be one've thuh more unique childhood games ah've heard. 'N ah met uh boy who collected leaves."
Listening to Sebastian, and passing over the wobbufet, who sulked off after Jay passed it by, Jay nodded. "Mm, makes sense. Didja go back to Kanto, then? Or wus it Johto?" he asked. 'Cause either way, that reminded him he really ought to go back to his own region at some point. Where he got Tod. He was pretty sure there was something to battling the gyms in the region you'd been officially registered in, after all... He quirked an eyebrow at Sebastian's response regarding the pokemon, though. "Scary?" he repeated, "How's it-- agh! Whaddin thuh hell!?!" Like Sebastian, Jay was suddenly assaulted by a falling Sunkern, one of the same batch apparently, but unlike Sebastian, he didn't notice it and get to dodge. Instead he had it fall on his head, his hat and flail before falling off. Which in turn of course made him flail, throwing a hand up and quickly ducking away, nearly tripping on it and knocking his hat off. "What--" He stopped, freezing a moment and turning his head down to listen. He relaxed as he heard the little pokemon's squeaks as it rolled away, then reached down, sighing as he felt around for his hat to pick it up. "Alright... think ah know what ya mean, now," he muttered, grabbing it once he found it, and hitting it against his leg to try and clean it off.

"Being able too see I don’t understand it. It’s a mental thing I think." He remarked in response to Jay’s comment. Of course, he couldn’t blame Jay for not understanding, he was at a double disadvantage. How did you understand something you never had to comprehend in the first place and all? He wondered how that played out with other things too, actually. Maybe he’d come up with questions and ask the cowboy about it later. At being called a bad liar, he scoffed. "I take offense to that! I try very hard to tell the truth. Even if I have to make some of it up." He grinned, blatant joking in his voice. "Although I feel that maybe I have a leg up on you in this."
Sebastian tilted his head, an eyebrow quirking. "Rock Tunnel?" He was quiet a moment in thought. He’d tried going in their once when he was young but… that place was pitch black and a death trap without a proper light. Plus it was swarming with cave dwelling pokemon. Not exactly the best combo when you were little. "No, I never really did. It’s…well, it’s pitch black in there and full of Zubats. Not exactly the place you want to go when you’re little and have no pokemon of your own." He remarked. Of course the whole ‘darkness’ thing probably wouldn’t mean much to Jay. And … maybe not the Zubat thing either given Zoey. But for most, that was a bit of a concern. He chuckled a little at the gym comment though, glancing at Jay with a bit of a smile of his own. "Yeah, let’s hope so. I don’t want to have to give up because I can’t get up to the gym leader." He joked. Mostly. It would really be embarrassing to not be able to complete a gym just because of something like that.
"Hole digging is good exercise and it builds character too." Sebastian would’ve stuck his tongue out at Jay in response if would’ve done any good. Instead, he let his tone speak for him. "Oh really? Says the guy who apparently ran with the Tauros." He teased a bit, smiling at the comment. He was busy keeping his attention out for any more wayward pokemon as they moved. "But yeah, I went back to Johto. My dad’s tools were shipped to Cianwood, so that’s where I had to go."
Before Sebastian could state why he found it scary, Jay was assaulted by yet another Surkern falling from the tree. He jumped a bit as the cowboy went into a panic, watching a moment until Jay had calmed down and realized that the Surken would, for the most part, not kill him. "Are you okay, Jay?" He inquired, a bit of worry in his tone. That was certainly some reaction; understandable but well… certainly some reaction. He heard a shuffle off to the side and took to make sure more of the things weren’t falling, freezing up a bit at the sight of two heads peeking out of the bushes. Oh wow… a Doduo? That was an odd find that he didn’t expect to see. He shoo’ed the bird off though, turning his attention back to making sure Jay was okay once it was gone. Didn’t need some two headed dodo causing trouble.

Jay tilted his head. "S'pose..." he murmured. The best he could figure, it was like... feeling your skin change texture or something. But that could actually be uncomfortable, so he was pretty sure it wasn't the same thing. Ah well, if Sebastian couldn't understand it, then that just reinforced the idea that he probably couldn't understand it either, no matter how he tried thinking about it. Instead he focused on the much lighter subject at hand, and a smug smirk crossed over his face as Sebastian playfully took offense to his comment. "Oh yeah? 'N just how is any part've "it was mah idear" the 'truth', hm? Think that's a perty straight lie, there, Sebby," he pointed out. He quirked an eyebrow at the claim, giving a somewhat dubious expression in response. "Oh yeah? How's that? 'Cause ahm perty sure it's easier ta lie when ya don' have ta 'look som'un in the eye'. Or.... so ah hear, at least," he joked back.
Jay nodded to confirm where he was talking about, but couldn't help but grin at Sebastian's ultimate response. "That... sounds like perfect fun ta me," he remarked, giving a little tilt of his head, "In fact, Zoey 'n ah'd go in lots've caves after ah got her." Not that he didn't understand, not all zubat were friendly, and it probably did help to have one of his own. "S'pose ah can understand, though. Go in deep enough 'n ya might get lost, which ain't good. Not ta mention, can fall down 'n such. Plus there're plenty've other wild pok'mon that could pose somethin've uh danger." Like golem, for instance. Still grinning a bit, he was glad to find Sebastian had a good sense of humor over his own fear. "Well if'n it ever comes up, ahm sure me'n yer pok'mon can help. S'what friends'r for, 'n all." Plus, Jay's pokemon were pretty experienced at leading and helping people.
Although Jay scoffed a bit at Sebastian's defense, he grinned broadly at hi return accusation. "Hey," he started, lifting his head, "Runnin' with tauros is good exercise." His grin grew a bit. "'N builds character." Both of which were true! But it really was good exercise, also. Funny, though, that combined, the two 'hobbies' would have actually been a pretty well rounded exercise routine. Jay frowned a little in puzzlement, though, as Sebastian explained where he'd gone. "Huh... how come it ended up there? Thought yer family was in Lavender?" he asked.
Shortly thereafter, he had his own minor freakout, but after recovering, nodded, frowning as he dusted off his hat. "Yeah, yeah, ahm fine," he muttered, shoving his hat back on, "Just wasn't 'spectin' that. Plus, those things 'r surprisin'ly heavy fer a seed pok'mon..." He lifted his head up as he heard Sebastian shoo a pokemon off, but turned as, perhaps even the same pokemon, ran around and appeared in front of them. Jay paused, then pulled out his pokedex, but raised his eyebrows and reached back to grab some bait when it read it was a doduo. He tossed the bait and quickly pulled out a few pokeballs. "Lesse how well this works," he commented, ducking down a bit and lowering his voice to try and avoid scaring the pokemon while it ate. He turned his head, listening carefully, then straightening a bit and tossing the pokeball. It didn't work, and the pokemon was released, blinking and looking at Jay curiously. Luckily for him, though, the second one caught it. "Well... whaddaya know 'bout that," he remarked with a smile as the pokeball was sent back to the PC, "Guess that worked."
Encountered Doduo! Turn 1: Jay threw bait! Doduo is eating! Turn 2: Jay threw a ball! It failed! Doduo is watching carefully! Turn 3: Jay threw a ball! It caught! Doduo was caught!

Sebastian raised an eyebrow, glancing in Jay’s direction. "Well, it was your idea to tell them it was my idea after all. That’s not a lie…," He joked. It was more misdirection maybe; and even then, who in their right mind would admit to giving someone bad advice like that? "Plus, didn’t you just admit you were going to lie if it worked? I feel like that makes it even." He smirked. If he couldn’t have the glory when it worked then he would find some way to pass off the fail when it didn’t. Of course, he was joking. He wasn’t that kind of a heartless monster. Mostly.
Sebastian chuckled, eyeing Jay as he explained how fun the cave sounded. Yeah, that was pretty much the response he’d figured he’d get. It was good to see the cowboy thought he’d enjoy it; he’d heard numerous stories from trainers that had felt quite the opposite. Zubats apparently, when in masse, where quite annoying. "Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard too. There are rocks that move and holes in the ground. It’s really easy to get lost in if you don’t have a clue where you’re going." He grinned a little as Jay remarked about the help getting through the tunnel. "Well gee, thanks. It’s could to have options so I don’t disappear in a cave forever." Sebastian remarked with both a sincere and joking tone. He definitely appreciated the offer, though his intention was to mostly avoid really dark caves if he could help it.
"You must be an amazing runner if that’s the case." He teased again. Able to outrun Tauros? That was a super human skill in its own right, especially as a blind person. "You must have tons of character." Sebastian smirked a little at the thought. It was an amusing image to think about. At the question of why he had to travel to Cianwood, Sebastian shrugged. "They do. It got stuck up there apparently and they didn’t have a way to send it down, so my dad asked me to grab it." A pretty standard tactic really. If you had a son already out and about, it only made sense to ask them to do something like that. At least, it made sense to him.
Once Jay had assured him that he was alright after that scare, Sebastian relaxed. He watched the cowboy a moment to make sure that was indeed the case before finally nodding and resuming moving a bit. The Dodou apparently took the opportunity to reappear and he quieted down as Jay took to trying to catch it for himself. Sebastian hushed up and watched as Jay set about catching the thing, looking a little surprised when he did. Huh… well that had been pretty simple. And the bird hadn’t even attempted to lash out. "That… was pretty impressive. I didn’t think it’d be so simple." He replied. Sebastian hushed again though as another sound caught his attention. He moved over towards it to look, watching as what looked like a tiny elephant rolled into view. It paused and stared a moment, trumpeting at Sebastian in greeting. It was kind of cute. "Hm…," Sebastian considered a moment before pulling out some bait as well. He chucked it and watched the little elephant pokemon trumpet in excitement, beginning to eat away at the food. While it was distracted he pulled out the safari ball and took aim, gently chucking it at the pokemon. It was by gracious fortune that the catch seemed to stick the first go. He grinned and swiftly retrieved the pokeball before it could disappear off to the PC, turning to face Jay. "I caught something!" He announced excitedly, pulling out his pokedex to check what it was exactly. It was a Phanpy… neat!

Jay scoffed. "Well yeah," he admitted, grinning, "But ah don' 'take pride 'n tellin' thuh truth'." His grin grew a bit. "'Sides, what're ya gonna do ta out me, anyway? Lurk 'round thuh corner till ya see if'n the line works 'r not, 'n if ah take credit if it does, come over 'n tell 'em ah woulda blamed you if it didn'? Think yer plan may have uh few flaws here, Sebs." And Jay was gonna keep poking at those holes till the argument fell apart. Though given Sebastian's... unique creativity, he wouldn't be surprised if that didn't quite happen.
Jay smiled a bit. "'Rocks that move'? Y'mean Geodude 'n such? Sounds like yer settin' up fer a riddle, talkin' like that," he commented with amusement. Not that he would complain. He liked riddles. They just didn't work for him all the time since some relied on some visual perception. Then again, he was better at some others because painting a picture, an incorrect picture, was sometimes part of the trick to the riddle and, to pardon the expression, he saw right through that. "Ah was talkin' more 'bout them high up gyms," he added, still smiling, "but ah mean, we can certainly help ya through tunnels, too." He grinned. "Ain't you glad you met me, now? Lookit how useful me'n mah pok'mon could potentially be," he joked, giving an offhanded gesture.
He shifted a little when Sebastian just seemed to go with his statement, rather than laughing it off since it was a direct replication of his own. "'N you must be uh weight lifter," he returned playfully. He paused, thinking. "'N lots of character... 'n patience," he added, shaking his head, "Ah hones'ly dunno if ah could maintain somethin' like... diggin' holes for very long. Sounds mighty tedious 'n repetitive." Not that Jay couldn't get into the rhythm of something, but... digging? He just couldn't imagine doing that for very long, though he was sure he'd done at least some throughout his childhood.
Jay nodded a little when Sebastian explained. "S'pose that makes sense. Seems quite thuh travel from where we were, though," he admitted. But, probably about as far as it would have been from Kanto, anyway. Shortly thereafter, the doduo appeared, and Jay managed to catch it without much of a hassle. He smiled, content with the catch, and turned his head towards Sebastian, nodding. "Mm, me either. S'pose thuh pok'mon here 'r perty docile," he remarked. He quieted, though, when he felt Sebastian still, listening to the sound of an approaching pokemon. He smiled a bit when he heard what it was. That was a phanpy, wasn't it? He hadn't had a lot of personal interaction with them, but one of his moms friends had it's evolved form. His smile remained light, though grew a bit as Sebastian caught it and seemed quite excited by that, giving a nod. "Congratulations," he remarked, reaching around for some bait of his own. He could hear another pokemon approaching. "That was uh phanpy, right? D'you know what typin' it has?"
He turned as the pokemon he'd heard finally showed up, straightening when its call identified it as a pinsir. He quickly turned, tossing the bait and reaching for his pokeballs. He tried, frowning when the pokeball didn't work, and seemed to hesitate when the second didn't, either. The pokemon hadn't fled, had it...? He coudl still hear it, though, and after one last try, he caught it, sighing faintly in relief. "Guess they ain't all that easy t'catch..." he murmured, brushing a hand back through his hair. He turned towards Sebastian, nodding his head to the side. "Wanna go explore another area?" he offered.
Encountered Pinsir! Turn 1: Jay threw bait! Pinsir is eating! Turn 2: Jay threw a ball! It failed! Pinsir is watching carefully! Turn 3: Jay threw a ball! It failed! Pinsir is watching carefully! Turn 4: Jay threw a ball! It caught!

- Sebastian gave a false gasp of shock in response Jay’s remark. "None at all? For shame, Jay. For shame. The truth sets people free and all that." He replied in a matter-o-fact tone, making it sound as though it were some kind of heinous action he’d never heard someone lay claim to before. When Jay inquired how he’d go about outing him, he tilted his head back a bit. If Jay could’ve seen the look, it would’ve read as a sort of calculating one, as though the man already had it planned out. But he couldn’t so instead Sebastian just spoke in a sly manner. "I’ve seen quite a few shows in my time. There’s always a way to dramatically reveal that kind of stuff you know." He remarked. Was that a threat? A challenge? Him being an idiot? Probably the later. Not that it was something he’d ever intended to do of course. This was all in good joking fun. The best way to avoid the problem of course was just to not give his full name. Easiest way to fix it. But he didn’t have to admit that.
"Onix too." Onix were probably far more dangerous than Geodudes in caves. He certainly couldn’t imagine dealing with that and blinding darkness. "Does it really sound like a riddle? I mean given pokemon… well that’d be anything really." He was starting to ramble now, now that he thought about it. He chuckled a little and smiled himself at Jay clarified his offer. "Well, help for either would be appreciated." Hopefully, there weren’t more gyms like that. He… he probably couldn’t handle anything higher than the Coumarine tree gym. He felt a shiver run down his spine at the reminder. "Couldn’t have wished to have met a better fellow." He remarked sincerely. It was enjoyable chatting with Jay; the conversations certainly weren’t boring. It was a nice change of pace to be honest.
Sebastian snickered a little. "Oh yeah, I’ve got quite the muscles." He jested, raising his arms and flexing a little along as he commented. It was kind of pointless but it just seemed the right action to do. He chuckled a little. "Eh… that’s understandable. It takes a bit of imagination to keep it interesting." He shrugged. "I’d make up all kinds of things to make it more entertaining." Games, adventures, treasure hunts. There were a lot of ideas you could use to keep the momentum for hole digging up.
Once all the commotion was handled, he went back to checking his pokedex and information on the Phanpy. "Yeaup! It’s a cute little thing to be honest. Apparently it’s… a ground type apparently." Huh, that was interesting. He already had Dice, but another ground type was worth having just as back up. He’d have to look up what he could teach the pokemon. He had a few TMs that he could afford to use up to be honest.
The sounds of more pokemon approaching drew his attention away from his pokedex. He jumped a little at the sight of Pinsir. Holy crap was that a scary looking bug pokemon. It was a little more alarming to watch Jay try and catch it. The first few balls just didn’t take and it seemed momentarily like it would flee before the catch finally went through. Sebastian gave a little uneased chuckle. "Ah… congrats as well." He replied, smiling a little. "I guess it’s all about luck." At the mention of moving, Sebastian straightened up and nodded. "Sure, let’s try over to the far corner. The forest thins out a little bit in that area so there might be less surprise pop-ups." Sebastian replied, starting to walk, pausing only briefly to make sure Jay and Scy were coming along and that no one was knocked unconscious by another falling seed. That’d be bad… did the Safari Zone have a medical station for that kind of thing?

Jay quickly grinned. "Not if yer 'bout ta go ta prison fer uh crime ya committed," he pointed out. Oh wasn't he just so clever. He quirked an eyebrow a bit at Sebastian's tone, grin dying down to a slight, amused smirk. "Well that ain't fair," he complained jokingly, "'Cause ah can't even say 'I'll keep an eye out fer ya, then'." He grinned, shaking his head, then placing a hand over his hearts. "S'pose ye've convinced me. Ah'll concede 'n forego mah evil, lyin' ways. 'N jus' take owndership've what ah woulda done wrong all along-- takin' yer advice in thuh first place." He dropped his hand back to his side, smile still on his smug mug.
"Mm, true... 'N yeh, it sorta does. S'vague enough ta," he clarified, "Ain't uh complete riddle 'r nothin', just that same sorta languagin' 'n all." Not that he was being serious on that, either. He smiled, giving a nod as Sebastian 'accepted' the help in caves or on high heights, but raised an eyebrow at the sincerity of Sebastian's next comment, in response to his totally joking remark. "Well... Thanks Sebastian. 'Preciate that," he remarked, a little caught off guard by the compliment, "Feelin's mutual." Which was true. Jay was amicable enough, but he hadn't had conversations like those with Sebastian, and rarely had he been able to maintain a conversation with someone for so long, covering so many topics, with such lightheartedness, so consistently. And to keep them so... interesting at that....
Jay gave a very short laugh at the joking tone his friend used as he boasted over his strength. "Well hell, ain't like ah can judge. Yew could be as buff as uh machamp s'far as ahm aware," he pointed out, grinning. He quirked an eyebrow a bit when Sebastian claimed you could actually make digging holes entertaining. Or at least 'more entertaining'. "Make up stuff? Like what? That yer diggin' fer treasure? 'Cause 'sides from that, ah can't... think've much else yew could imagine that involves diggin' that ain't... akin ta hard labor." Like... prison labor, for one. He was still smiling, but he was genuinely curious, and upon hearing the Phanpy was a ground time, that smile turned to a bit more of a grin. "Oh yeah?" he remarked, his tone giving away that he was about to make another joke, "Maybe yew can get it ta help yew dig them holes." He paused a moment, then added, "Actually, what is your plan, Sebastian? Yew plannin' ta become a Champion, or jus' travel around 'n such?"
As they started towards another area of the Safari Zone, Jay gave a little tilt of his head. "Mm, thanks. 'N yeh, seems like it ain't quite as sure fire as ah mighta hoped. Least it ain't rigged, though," he pointed out, turning his head this way and that a bit to listen to their surroundings. He heard a Snubbel scurry across their path up ahead, but decided not to go for it. If memory served, he already had one of those in his PC. "So, ya seen any more pok'mon ye'd be int'rested in gettin'?" he asked curiously.

"Nuh uh, not if there’s a plea bargain." Sebastian pointed, glancing back at Jay and grinning a little. "I mean, I’ve never been to jail or anything. But I’ve heard tell the truth can be a real life saver. Sometimes. Maybe. Like I said, I’ve never been to jail, I wouldn’t know." He gave an honest laugh at Jay’s little joke about himself. He quirked an eyebrow and grinned a little, shrugging. "Well now, if that’s what you want to do, that’s fine. Just don’t ever say I never gave you some quality advice. I’ll just weep quietly for all the lost opportunities you’ll have." He stated in a bit of a dramatic fashion, faking a hurt tone in his voice. He chuckled though and continued along, shaking his head. The smug look didn’t faze him at all; it was all in good fun after all.
"Pretty sure riddles are meant to be thought provoking… not vague." At least all the riddles he’d ever read where like that. Vague, but only because they weren’t straight forward to begin with. "I guess maybe…," He murmured a little in thought. He just grinned as Jay returned the compliment, head bobbing a little of a nod out of habit.
Sebastian quieted a moment in thought at Jay’s remark. He tapped his chin a moment, a sly smile crossing his face just a bit in thought. "Well you know, I’d let you have a feel. But I just don’t know if you could really handle these guns." He chided. That was probably the damn corniest, dorkiest thing he’d ever said in his life but… it was just too good to pass up. He couldn’t help the smirk, it only fading a bit into a smile. "Well there’s digging for treasure. Playing escape… see whether digging in a certain place takes you to a different side of the world or not. There’s all kinds of ways to make it interesting. You just have to … well pretend a bit is all." Digging was hard labor but well, labor didn’t have to seem hard right? Or boring at least. He chuckled at Jay’s comment about getting the Phanpy to help him. "Maybe I will! It could be a challenge; can I out dig a pokemon?" He joked. That would certainly be something; he’d never considered having a pokemon assist him in digging though. That probably made things twenty-time easier… where was the fun in that?
"Hm?" Sebastian frowned a little, rubbing under his chin in thought. "I don’t.. .really know to be honest. I just figured I’d go and collect as many badges as I could… try a bunch of different things." He conceded. Could he be champion? That thought had never even crossed his mind; that seemed like a lot of hard work and like he’d need a much tougher team to pull off. Though… it was an interesting idea to consider. Maybe… maybe he’d look into it. "What about you, Jay? Do you have any end game plans?" He inquired. With all the travelling Jay had already apparently done with family, he was curious if maybe he had other plans of his own.
Sebastian kept an eye out as they moved between areas, eyeing the Snubbul that Jay had passed with a bit of an odd look before looking at the man and shaking his head. "Ah no. Nothing yet. There’s a lot of different types out here though…," He dug around and pulled his pokedex back out, starting to use it on some of the various species floating about. It was worth it to see what things were after all.

Jay quirked an eyebrow. "Still perty sure that don' set ya free. Just... imprisons ya fer less time," he pointed out. Tilts his head, smiling in clear amusement, but also obvious puzzlement. "Well, see now, ahm perty sure you still haven't given me any qual'ty advice," he joked back. He was pretty sure the only advice he'd given him was still to pretty much tell people about their odor. He was also still pretty sure he wasn't going to take that advice, not that either of them had really been serious during this entire running joke.
Jay shrugged. "Think they're kinda both. Each part've 'em are vague, but together they give ya one option. If'n they're done well, that is," he remarked. Though he couldn't help but grin a bit when he thought about the now discussion they were having over one off handed remark. That pretty much summed up their conversations, though. Kind of... like this whole digging discussion. Sebastian might not have known just what he was getting himself into with that remark. "Ah dunno, Sebastian," Jay remarked, reaching back into his bag, "Ah've handled uh lotta guns." At that, he drew a hand gun, holding it up, before putting it back into his bag. "Don' worry it ain't loaded," he added. Most people weren't particularly reassured by a blind man wielding a deadly weapon, after all. It helped, usually, to at least inform them that it couldn't currently do any damage.
"Mm, ah s'pose.... Still sounds like makin' up ways ta make it fun might've been 'bout as much work as thuh diggin itself, though," he admitted. He gave a directionless gesture. "S'good yew were able ta have fun with it, though. Ain't uh lotta people that could manage that." And that, was without a doubt true. He quirked an eyebrow at the mention of competing a against a pokemon, smirking some. "Well if'n ya do manage that, ya can then challenge yourself 'gainst uh diglett or dugtrio. They perty much dig just ta move," he suggested. Oh, Sebastian would lose. So bad. So fast. But it would certainly be a challenge.
Sebastian nodded a little as he listened, quirking an eyebrow a bit. "Well d'ya plan ta be travelin' fer a long time?" he asked curiously. Some people went out with plans of never returning; some planned to go as far as they could; some just planned to be out for a year or two. He lifted his head as he was asked in return, listening briefly as a Stantler passed by, and then turning his attention back to Sebastian. "Mm, ah dunno. Prolly gonna see if ah can get uh team up ta champion standards, but ah dunno if ah'd actually take that position," he admitted. He quirked an eyebrow as Sebastian commented on the available pokemon, then flashed a smile. "Lemme know if ya notice any bug types," he requested.

"They might let you free, you never know until you try." Not that Sebastian followed the end deals of people trying to plead their way out of jail. He was just kind of guessing at this point. I mean, how in the world did those shady organizations keep going if there wasn’t some kind of loophole? Magic? That was hard to believe. He quirked an eyebrow and scoffed, once more placing a hand to his chest in faux pain. "I’ve plenty of other quality advice to give but clearly, it’ll just fall on deaf ears." He joked.
"Hm… I guess." Was his answer to the riddles discussion. He was pretty sure whoever made those things up were on par for hatred like people who made up puns. Sebastian felt a shiver run up his spine at the thought. Eugh… puns. What a terrible thing to do to words. He was still smirking though when Jay replied to his ‘guns’ remark, though it quickly faded away into a look of utter surprise when the cowboy pulled out a gun. Whoa, wait a minute what? "that’s not-" He started, immediately clamping his mouth shut when Jay informed him that it wasn’t loaded. Well okay then, there went the question of whether it was real or not. You usually didn’t mention a lack of loaded status with a fake gun. He shifted a little, clear confusion and shock etched on his face. "… How does a blind man get a gun exactly?" He inquired, a sense of surprise and concern in his voice. Sure, guns were nothing new but uhm… a blind guy, with a gun? That was something he expected only to ever witness in overdone television shows. Not real life. There was a lot to question about that. "And would I be safer walking in front or behind you?" There was still some joking to do in the situation even if it was a little off-putting.
Sebastian chuckled a little at the digging comment. "What, no imagination? " He teased as Jay made it sound as though making things up was hard. Maybe it was, Sebastian didn’t know. He’d certainly never had any trouble with it; then again, when you were a child working in a graveyard, what choices did you really have? "Maybe I’ll uncover the secret of “what’s under a Diglett?” in the process." He joked. Probably not. Probably never. Did the professors even know? If they didn’t then he probably would never find out either. "I think I’ll just stick to digging my own holes as a challenge instead."
"I’ll travel as long as I can. Hopefully longer than the first time anyways." He’d already made decent headway in that regards. "I mean, hopefully my parents won’t need me around again if another baby comes along… my brother’s there. He could probably handle it." He was a little bit younger but only by a couple of years. Course that’d be quite ironic and a bummer if he wanted to start his own journey. Sebastian shook his head, looking around before glancing at Jay curiously. "I don’t know Jay, you could be the first in a lot of things if you did." He grinned a little. "Coordinator champion, league champion… first in a lot of things really if you think about it. You’d be like an inspiration to every trainer who ever lived. Probably." Sebastian would’ve certainly been inspired.
"You and your bugs." Sebastian joked, nodding though and looking up. He personally expected bugs to be up in the trees mostly so he’d keep an eye out there. Also, was good to make sure nothing else fell to kill them.
