Attentive Magnetic Resourceful Sadomasochistic Deceptive Secretive
Ebalia may not have any eyes, but not much gets past her. She is very observant for an Oblivionite, taking notice of things that most others might not even consider. It's important, she feels, to be as aware of one's surroundings as much as possible. Nothing can surprise you that way. This trait of hers not only applies to the physical world around her, but also how she talks and presents herself, as well. Saying the wrong thing to the wrong person can get one into a whole heap of trouble, and Ebalia is not about to do that. She takes a lot of care to make sure she knows not only who she is around, but their rank or standing, if they have any. This is so she knows how best to interact with them. If she is unsure of an individual, the Oblivionite with generally default to acting with cordial politeness.
For some reason, and people just can't put their fingers on it, but the Oblivionite is a very magnetic individual. Although she comes off as quiet, it doesn't take much for someone to want to get to know her. Ebalia takes full advantage of this fact, and is not above charming the pants off someone if it helps her get what she wants. Be it through wowing them with stories, or just simply using something as simple as flattery, she knows how to work it.
Ebalia is quite adept at rolling with things that come her way. Having grown up in a less-than-ideal environment, such a skill is a necessity if one wants to simply survive in the world. Regardless of what is thrown at her, even if it takes some time to adjust, the young girl will do her best to meet things head on to the best of her abilities. This resourcefulness goes beyond more than adjusting to difficulties, however. Ebalia is also quite street-smart, and she does her best to know the who's-who and the what's-what of wherever she may be at the time. Knowing such things takes time, but she doesn't mind waiting if it helps her learn to adapt better.
Unfortunately, the young Oblivionite has a bit of a twisted sensibility. She enjoys being cruel to others and watching them suffer. She doesn't always intentionally find reasons to cause people harm or emotional trauma, but she certainly doesn't mind reveling in such things if it does occur. The only time she outwardly tries to hurt people is if it involves a person she views as an enemy (an Orderite, for example) or someone she feels who has wronged her in some way or another. Along the lines of causing others pain, Ebalia also revels in causing pain to herself as well. It gives her pleasure to do such things but also a sense of gratification. This is developed mainly due to her mother's influence: Vehli would claim that Ebalia deserved the abuse that she got, and that her mother's problems were her fault. This wasn't always true, of course, but the child believed it, and cultivated a destructive, self-harming nature as a result.
Don't expect to learn the truth from Ebalia very often. She is a compulsive liar, and very rarely tells the truth to people. To cover her tracks, she often tells different background stories to different individuals -- mainly so no one knows her actual background so they can use it against her. The girl is not above lying if it helps her get what she wants or saves her from trouble. She is also not above lying to her friends, if she doesn't feel particularly inclined to tell the truth. She tells the truth when it suits her and lies when it suits her.
Ebalia has always been a secretive individual. Her personal history is not anyone's business, and if she wanted to tell someone -- it would be someone she really trusted. Even her beliefs on subjects or people are often things that she keeps to herself, as her personal opinion shouldn't matter to anyone else. As a result of her private nature, Ebalia doesn't have a lot of people she can call her close friends. This isn't so bad, in her opinion, as friends can make things complicated and difficult. Complications are the last thing she needs in her life.

History
Ebalia was born in Obsidian City on a dark, cold morning. Her mother, Vehli, was a courtesan and her father, Raxan, was a noble. Vehli thought that, when she got pregnant, Raxan would ask her to marry him, but sadly this was not the case. After the man found out the woman was with child, he promptly cut her out of his life, leaving the pregnant woman very much alone. She gave birth to her daughter in the slums of the city, and she decided that Ebalia would never know of her father.
Life was not easy for Ebalia growing up. With no father to speak of, and with her mother now degraded to the life of a prostitute in the poor districts, things were difficult for her. That, coupled with the fact that her mother was abusive, meant that the young girl did not enjoy staying at home very much. Vehli reciprocated such feelings, feeling that her daughter was a burden more than a blessing. More often than they would like, the neighbors often heard yells of anger from the girl's mother accompanied by screams of pain from the young girl. What she did, exactly, they didn't know, but Ebalia had scars on both sides of her face to show for it. She keeps them covered up behind a mask to this day.
Ebalia's chance at freedom came when she was ten years old. One evening, her mother came home in a drunken stupor, angry and belligerent as usual. Luckily for her, Vehli was too intoxicated to abuse her daughter that evening. Having enough of her mother's torment, it was time for her to fight back. With her mother unsuspecting, the little girl found the heaviest item in the house: a statue that her mother had stolen from Raxan, and beat her with it. How long she hit her for and how hard exactly, she wasn't exactly sure, but she didn't care. By the time she was done, Vehli was a bleeding, broken mess on the floor, and Ebalia was gathering any sort of valuable she could before bolting out of the house.
For the next two years, the Oblivionite has called the streets of Obsidian City her home. She'd scrip and scrap for food, dig through trash, steal and pickpocket -- whatever she needed to in order to get by. Now that she's older, she has hopes of leaving the city one day, and venturing out as a mage. Such a lifestyle is certainly more interesting than where she is now, and a change of pace might be exactly what she needs.

Thoughts on Others
Thoughts on the Great Engagement:
The Oblivionites are clearly the most superior when it comes to the Great Engagement. Tales of the war and how it started interest Ebalia quite a bit, as she feels it is important to know about not only the history of her own people, but that of her enemy's as well. She has quite the reverence for Draco and Twilight, as she views them as heroes of the war. Twilight, in particular, is somewhat of an idol of hers. She aspires to be like him, since he had the strongest magic of any Oblivionite. She views Aevah Avi with immense hatred, given that she was the woman responsible for killing Twilight.
As of right now, though, Ebalia just wants the fighting to be over. It's been going on for quite enough, and she just wants the other races to accept defeat already. It would make things quite easier on everyone.
Thoughts on the Magescian Races:
Orderites – As is to be expected of someone of her race, Ebalia is not at all fond of Orderites. Having grown up where she did, she took in a lot of the negative propaganda surrounding them, and soaked it up like a sponge. As a result, and having known nothing else, it’s no surprise that her feelings toward them are so negative. While she won’t be outwardly hostile to them (it’s not her style; she’d rather backstab them), she won’t be overly friendly toward them, either. To put up appearances, she will be cordial when dealing with them, until they let their guard down, at least. Then she can’t promise she won’t lash out at them in the darkness or when they least expect it.
With all of that in mind – it should be noted that Ebalia’s feelings toward Orderites can change. Any Orderite who wants to make her see or think differently, however, is going to have to put in a lot of work and effort. Views don’t simply change over night, and it’s something that is going to take time.
Dovaa – Dovaa are…interesting and strange all rolled into one for Ebalia. She finds it intriguing that their magical abilities come from the clan that they decide for themselves. She also is impressed that, later on in life, they can eventually turn into dragons themselves. She’s not so fond of the fact that they tend to remain neutral in terms of the Great Engagement. Since they are clearly in a war period, she feels that the Dovaa need to man up and pick a side: either they are with the Oblivionites or they are not. And if they aren’t, then they are her enemy, and that’s basically all she needs to know.
Ebalia will certainly be less hostile toward any Dovaa she meets. She may be skeptical and cautious of them, as that is just her personality in general, but she won’t want to outright try and hurt them once their guard is lowered. Such behavior she saves only for the Orderites she comes across.
Hybrids – Ebalia will generally be pretty neutral toward hybrids, for the most part. Hybrids can have a difficult life, due to their mixed heritage. In this regard, she feels a sense of comradery toward them, having a hard childhood, herself. If she encounters an Orderite/Oblivionite hybrid, however, she’d probably feel a bit angry and confused. While the hybrid didn’t have any choice in their parentage, she will feel like the individual’s Oblivionite parent betrayed their heritage in order to mate with an Orderite.
Thoughts on the Dragons and Khehora:
Dragons - While dragons may truly be a sight to behold, they do not hold such reverence in Ebalia's mind. To her, they are no more than mere tools to be used via their souls or prizes to be won via their tears. Glory comes from fighting dragons with tales told about the battles for ages to come, if they are climactic enough. Ebalia will be fond of collecting as many dragon souls and tears as she can when she gets the chance. Some might be kept as mere trophies, but most of them will be used for the abilities that they provide. They certainly have their purpose, and Ebalia tends to utilize dragons for what they have to offer to the world.
Khehora - Ebalia isn’t quite sure what to make of the Khehora, in all honesty. They look like dragons and they have abilities like dragons, yet they can form close bonds to the other races of Magesc. Because of these bonds, the Oblivionite will consider the Khehora to be quite loyal. She also looks forward to possibly bonding with one of her own. Compared to Orderites (whom she doesn’t trust) and Dovaa (whom she’s on the fence with), she can see herself being quite close to a Khehora. Going on adventures would be a whole lot more interesting with one of them alongside her, rather than if she went alone.
