At the first breath of a rumor that the carnival might end with Student Council elections, Rojo called home, begging his madre and trio of padres to help him put together a campaign they could all be proud of. Most of the creatures who had watched him grow from a cuddly bundle of bones into the calaca he was today hurried to rally around the boil, making buttons, signs, and other swag to send to the school as quickly as it could get there.
Rojo sits at his booth with a smile on his face, a smile that never fades because... well... his head is a skull, a skull with candy colored markings that seem to shift position every time you turn away. Still, his body language seems to support his permanently happy expression. He leans forward and waves to those who pass, encouraging them to come closer and sample his swag.
His campaign centers around a simple three-tiered slogan that he recites to anyone who seems interested:
big treats ~ big celebrations ~ big scares Vote Rojo for PR Representative!

Rojo perks up if you happen to approach while he's strumming his banjo. The eager way he bounces in his seat suggests that he would like you to ask him about it. Please please please please please...
"It was my father Miguel's!" he replies if you even so much as seem like you're going to pose a question. "He gave it to me when I came to Amityville, and if I do say so, I am quite an excellent player of banjos!" He pulls another, slightly inferior instrument out from under the booth. "Would you like to challenge me... to a duel?"

"Is everybody ready?" he asks. You realize he's not talking solely to you as a small chorus of tinny, speakerphone voices replies. "I have asked a few souls back home to be our judges," he explains. "But do not worry. They will not declare me the winner just because they know me, I promise."
Flashing you another smile, he begins to play.

"And yet I still know they have won," a snide voice replies.
"You did not win," the calaca is quick to say. "But you did very well!"You win a pet or item from Tier 3!
21-35: You attempt to mimic what Rojo is playing, but you are not dueling to the best of your ability today. You don't win this time!
36-40: "Very good!" Valentina says as you finish playing, the gravel in her voice more river stones than sand. "Pete likes it too."
"Still didn't win!" Rojo's voice is chipper as he hands you your prize. You win a pet from Tier 2!
41-45: You attempt to mimic what Rojo is playing, but you are not dueling to the best of your ability today. You don't win this time!
46-50: There is a long silence after you are done. Then a gravelly voice intones, "For Jack's sake, Rojo, give them a damn prize." You win a pet or item from Tier 3!
51-60: "That was some excellent picking," Chio says. "Better than—"
"It was very good. Both of you."
"Thank you, Sadie." Rojo hands you your prize. You win a pet from Tier 2!
61-75: You attempt to mimic what Rojo is playing, but you are not dueling to the best of your ability today. You don't win this time!
76-80: The end of your attempt is met with resounding applause from the phone.
"Excellent! You held your own very well!" Sadie says. You win a pet from Tier 1!
81-90: As you strum, you notice a low humming issuing from the phone. Rojo pauses and glares at it. "That is Pete. He hums when he is enjoying the music, so I guess you can have this."You win a pet or item from Tier 3!
91-95: For a moment after you stop strumming, the phone is silent. Rojo taps it with a bony finger and looks ready to grab it when the creatures on the other side begin to clap.
"That was wonderful!" Valentina says. "You even gave Rojo a run for his money!"
The calaca nods faintly, silently admitting you are a worthy banjo adversary before he gives you your prize. You win a pet from Tier 1!
96-100: You attempt to mimic what Rojo is playing, but you are not dueling to the best of your ability today. You don't win this time!

Out of nowhere, a large cardboard cutout has been set up on the table next to Rojo. It's... another Rojo and a taller person with a hole where their face should be. The skeleton gestures at it while describing the activities his booth has to offer, and judging from the camera set up facing the cutout, you might guess that you should stick your face through the hole.
