If you need help, don't be afraid to ask! I'm happy to help you build your characters. If you have all those things checked, please PM me this information. If I give everything a thumbs up, please then post your character info in the Guild Office. This is important, because it is where you will keep your info updated. It is your responsibility to make sure that your character's info is up to date when entering a new game. If you do not have a file in the guild office, you cannot participate in a game.

All characters start with 500g and the 'bronze' equivalent of their applicable weapon type.

Entering a Game
The games will vary in size and be 'first come, first serve'. Some games will have level ranges, and generally people who have gotten to play less than others will be given priority. The GM will look into the Guild Office and use that updated character information when setting up their files... so please make sure your file is up to date : )

The GM will have the turn order determined based upon each units SPD+1d20 roll. Bards and Dancers will always go last. Players are given 24 hours to take their turn in forum based games, or they will be skipped. If a player has to be skipped three times, they will be removed from the game. If something comes up and an extension is required or you would like to be bunnied, talk to the GM. Permission must be granted by the player for anybody else to be controlling their character in a game.

Reward
There is individual victory, but the goal is to work together, as you can be defeated without help. Each mission has a gold reward listed, and you will keep any items and EXP you get during the game. However, if you should be defeated, a fee will be deducted from your gold at the end of the game.

If you should get gems during the mission and you finish the game with the gems in tow, the value of those gems will be added on to the total reward amount, which is split evenly among the team. However, if the team should fail to do something, a gem may be taken away for compensation. Also, if a teammate decides to sell a gem to a shop, they keep the gold for themselves. Bullion's are for whichever unit gets them- If a unit ends a game with a bullion in their inventory, they will keep it and can trade or sell it at their leisure.

Experience
You will gain EXP with every initiated attack, heal, kill, and from addition bonus experience (BEXP) earned through various means. The EXP you earn is personal to you and will carry on into the next games you enter as that character. It doesn't matter if you drop ownership of the character. That's on you.

→ 10 EXP rewarded for each attack/heal and 20 EXP rewarded if unit kills the enemy. 30 EXP rewarded if the enemy defeated is a boss or miniboss.
→ 5 additional EXP rewarded if unit attacked/defeated is a higher tier
→ 10 additional EXP rewardedl if boss/miniboss defeated is a higher tier
→ 5 less EXP rewarded if unit or boss/miniboss attacked/defeated is a lower tier
→ 5 EXP rewarded for each performance from a bard or dancer. Crew-only rally skills do not reward EXP.
→ I will make a post when you level up, telling you what stats increased based upon your growths.
→ Units start with 1 and gain 1 weapon experience (WEXP) with every initiated use of that weapon type. Weapon types gain WEXP independently.

Weapon Ranks:
D: 30 wexp
C: 70 wexp
B: 120 wexp
A: 180 wexp
S: 250 wexp (only 1 weapon type may achieve this)

Supports
Supports activate in game passively, when characters who support each other are on the same space. The support bonuses will display in the bonus stats area of character cards.

→ Supports grow by +1 each turn when characters are on the same space.
→ Supports grow by +3 the first time a character talks to another for their turn's action. (meaning if both character talk to each other during a game, they grow by +6)
→ There is no maximum number of A supports you are allowed to achieve, nor any number limit in general.
→ Information about support bonuses can be found here

Support Ranks:
C: 80 points
B: 160 points
A: 240 points

Defeat
It happens. Sometimes you'll just be rolling (the dice) along, and then suddenly whoa that enemy just rolled a 10 for max damage and now you have 0 HP! ...What happens now?

→ Defeated characters will sit out of the game for 3 turns before they are allowed back in
→ On the phase that they are allowed to return, they simply need to make a post in the topic of them coming back into play, starting from the map's designated entrypoint(s). They will then be placed at the end of the player turn order, in front of any dancer or bard.
→ The character will need to pay a fee for their wounds being healed at the end of the game. The fee is based on what level you are:
LVL 1-4: 100g+50g increments
LVL 5-9: 500g+100g increments
LVL 10-20: 1k+500g increments
LVL 20+: 2k+1k increments

How to Play



Step 1 → Movement Phase

At the start of your turn, you have the chance to move. You can choose to skip this phase if you wish, regardless of if you have rolled to move or not.

To move, roll whatever die your unit type is designated to roll in order to see your range.
→ You do not have to go the full distance of your roll
→ You can go any direction except diagonally
→ You cannot pass enemies unless you have the Pass skill
→ Up to 4 friendly units may be present on the same space (varies depending on the space)
→ Flying units have special moving conditions, explained in the unit types section. I will clarify this if necessary, but it's basically the same way it works within Fire Emblem.

When you move, please clarify in bold which space you are stopping on. After that, you can move onto the next phase...


Step 2 → Action Phase

Now that you have moved, you are capable of performing one action.

You have the option to...
→ Trade / Use Convoy
→ Attack
→ Use an item
→ Use a skill
→ Visit
→ Rescue / Drop
→ Direct
→ Talk
→ Inspect
→ Do nothing

Trading / Using Convoy
→ You must be adjacent or on the same space as your ally.
→ You must come to an agreement about what to trade with another player. You do not need the transporter's permission to take items from the convoy.
→ You can both give and take items simultaneously.
→ If Trading or Using the Convoy are done FIRST, you will be allowed to do any other action except trade or use the convoy again. You cannot Trade and then Use Convoy, and vice versa. It works the same way in Fire Emblem.

Attacking
→ For normal attacks, you will roll 1d10. Attack skills may have different dice to use.
→ For attacking using a skill, see Using a skill, below.
→ You will add your die result to either your STR or MAG, weapon's MT, and any other modifier.
→ You will then subtract your opponents DEF or RES from your total attack along with any other bonuses the enemy has.
→ If you are dealing super effective damage, such as an archer attacking a pegasus knight, please use this formula: [(Die + STR/MAG + WPN Triangle/Buffs) x2] - Enemy DEF/RES/Terrain Bonus/Buffs
→ Please be clear about which enemy you are attacking and state if the enemy you are attacking dies from your attack.

→ If your unit has 4 or more SPD than the opponent, you may make an additional, separate attack. Make sure you calculate the rolls separately- do not combine the die results!
→ If you do not have a usable weapon, you may initiate an unarmed melee attack (your fists) via your STR, but will be done at a 1d20 debuff to attack instead of the normal d10 modifier. (0/10 do not recommend)

Using an item
→ You must STATE in bold that you are using that item, so that I can know with certainty.

Using a skill
→ You must STATE in bold that you are using that skill, so that I can know with certainty.
→ There are two different kinds of skills: passive and active. All passive skills will indicate that they are passive in their description. Therefore, anything that doesn't say passive at the end is active and must be used as an action in bold.
→ Some active skills require you to roll different kinds of dice, while others just have you do something. They should all specify, but if for some reason any skill that requires you to roll a die does not specify which die to roll, roll a d10
→ For information on the skills, scroll down to the class list.

Visiting
→ Some spaces have buildings on them. This is where visiting comes in.
→ You must be on the space to visit the building.
→ If the map is zoomed out, up to the 4 allowable units on a space can typically be on a visit location.
→ If the map is zoomed in, only 1 person can be on a visit location.

Rescuing
→ You must be adjacent or on the same space as the person you are rescuing.
→ Rescuing lowers DEF, RES and SPD by 3
→ You can drop the person on your space or an adjacent space when you're ready to stop carrying them.

Directing
→ Directing does not take up an action phase
→ This action is used to guide any NPCs on the map to move or perform actions that you want. This mechanic comes from the Telius games.
→ The usual default setting for NPCs that you can direct is Roam, meaning they will proceed in their own best interests.
→ You can be fairly loose with directing, so long as I can understand what you want and it's something the NPCs can and will do
→ Anybody can direct NPCs at any time, regardless of whose turn it is
→ Some NPCs cannot be directed. Usually this will be because they have their own separate commander directing them. Maybe you could try talking to that person.

Talking
→ Talking uses up an action; casual interacting does not.
→ Please state clearly who you are Talking to and that you are using that action, not just casually interacting.
→ Talking to your teammates helps grow your support for each other the first time you talk to each character per game. (+3 when you initiate, another +3 if they reciprocate)
→ Even if you're not sure you can or think there's nothing to gain from it, you can still try Talking to units. You may be surprised.

Inspecting
→ Inspecting will trigger a post from the GM, detailing relevant obtainable information about the unit's surroundings, based upon a 1d20 result.
→ The information will be about the adjacent spaces and the space the unit is on, ideally helping you figure out what's going on and what may be waiting on those spaces.


And that's it! You've done what you need to do for your turn. Once done, please clearly state that you are ending your turn, so the rest of your allies can make their moves. Once they are done, I will proceed to make the next post...


Step 3 → Event Time

After every player on a faction / team takes their turn, I will be doing an event time post. (happens after each player in live games on tabletop sim) Event time posts will also occur for the enemy faction, NPC faction, and whatever other faction may exist.

Every space can be one of the following:
→ Item Pickup
→ Trap
→ Field Effect
→ Nothing

Item Pickup
→ I will generate a random number 1-30 to determine what is found.
→ There will be a specific list for each game, drawing from the universal list in this topic.
→ If a player exceeds their character's inventory limit of 5 items, they must choose one item to either drop or send to a transporter unit if one is present.

Trap
→ There are various traps. Some only activate once, others repeat, and some are continuous.
→ If a unit lands on a trap, varying dice will be rolled. If the unit's LCK is equal to or higher than the die result, they avoid the trap, and remain on the space safely.
→ For information on the traps, scroll down to the section where the known traps are listed.

Field Effect
→ I will generate a random number 1-30
→ There will be a specific list for each game. These could be things such as weather, team buffs, debuffs, etc.

Nothing
→ Nothing spaces will be listed at the bottom of every turn update.
→ Item pickup, field effect, and some trap spaces become nothing spaces once landed on.


At the end of event time, I will signify that the next faction / team can begin taking their turns.

Class Lists


  • Class Tree
  • Skills that do not say passive on the end must be actively used
  • Only one dancer/bard, only one transporter, and only one dragon/manakete allowed on the team at a time.
  • A google doc with class growths, class stats, and character growths can be found here


Unit Types

  • "Flying Units" refers to unit types whose movement allows them to fly (Pegasus, Wyvern, Bird)
  • "Shapehifting Units" (or laguz) refers to Beast, Bird, and Dragon types.
  • Sometimes, unit types are tied to race and persist through class changes. They may carry an addition unit typing, receiving the benefits and weaknesses of that second type, but will utilize the highest movement die available.


User Image Infantry Units: For movement, roll 1d4. No significant weaknesses.

User Image Heavy Armor Units: For movement, roll 1d4. Weak to certain weapons.

User Image Cavalry Units: For movement, roll 1d8 when outside, 1d6 when inside. Unit may travel part of its range, perform an action, and then travel the remaining range. Weak to fire magic and certain weapons.

User Image Pegasus Units: For movement, roll 1d8 when outside, 1d6 when inside. Unit may fly over untraversable spaces as long as they land on a space, and do not receive terrain bonuses. Weak to bows and wind magic.

User Image Wyvern Units: For movement, roll 1d8 when outside, 1d6 when inside. Unit may fly over untraversable spaces as long as they land on a space, and do not receive terrain bonuses. Weak to bows, thunder magic and certain weapons.

User Image Beast Units: For movement, roll 1d8 when outside, 1d6 when inside. Weak to fire magic and certain weapons.

User Image Bird Units: For movement, roll 1d8 when outside, 1d6 when inside. Unit may fly over untraversable spaces as long as they land on a space, and do not receive terrain bonuses. Weak to bows, wind magic and certain weapons.

Skill Lists


  • You can hold up to 6 skills, total.
  • You must always have 2 of those skills be from your class branch. Since all characters start as 1st tier, you will keep the two base class skills that come with each class on you at all times until you promote. Upon promotion, a 3rd class skill is awarded for each 2nd tier class, and you can choose to unequip one of the three if desired.
  • You can have your innate skill on or off at any time.
  • When you find a skill scroll, it will go to your item inventory. You have to USE it in order to learn it and it will then be added to your skills section. If your skill section is full, you have to choose one skill to be placed within your skill inventory, viewable in the guild office. Skills can be learned both during and outside of games.
  • You can manage your skill inventory at any time outside of games, from within the guild office.

Universal Items List


Each game will have a set list consisting of items from the universal list. There will be 1-30 for the Item Pickup event, which could also contains some items from the Visit category. There will also be a separate 1-20 list for the Visit/Chest list and 21-30 from each weapon type. The Visit/Chest list will also contain some skill scrolls, and both lists may contain multiple chances of bullions.

If a unit has the critical skill and uses a killer weapon, add a die to your roll
If a unit has the adept skill and uses a brave weapon, the skill stacks

The Field


Factions
Ally: This is the faction players will typically be in

NPC: This is a friendly faction typically comprised of non-player controlled characters. They can often be directed to work alongside you.

Enemy: This is the faction for the main antagonists.

Renegade: This faction is an enemy to all others, able to attack and be attacked by any other faction.

⪧ The phase turn order will be Ally > NPC > Renegade > Enemy

Status Effects
Poison: Lose 2 health every turn for 6 turns

Burn: Lose 1 health every turn for 12 turns

Bleed: Lose 3 health every turn for 4 turns

Freeze: Unit cannot act for 3 turns

Stun: Unit cannot act, damage taken +5 for 1 turn

Blind: Damage dealt -2, damage taken +2 for 3 turns

Fear: Unit cannot attack or use active skills for 3 turns. Unit will only retreat from enemies.

Sleep: Unit cannot act, damage taken +3 for 3 turns. Will wake up if hit.

Berserk: Unit cannot tell friend from foe for 3 turns. Instead of targeting an enemy specifically, unit will move towards and attack closest unit. If units are equidistant, target whoever they can get closest to defeat

Silence: Unit cannot talk or cast spells for 3 turns.

⪧ When a status makes a unit unable to act, it nullifies ALL skills, active and passive.
⪧ Please help me keep track of your status, if you are afflicted.

Terrain
Plains/Road/Floor/Stairs/Deck/Bridge/Sand: -

Desert: Beast and flying units move freely. -2 movement to Heavy Armor and Cavalry units. -1 movement to all other units.

Forest: +1 DEF

Pillar: + 1 DEF

Arena: +1 DEF, may visit to face an opponent and earn exp and gold (By visiting an arena, you will be engaging in combat, so be prepared to lose health or even be defeated. Rules are the same as the daily arena. You may only visit the arena once per turn and 5 times total per game)

House: +1 RES, may visit to trigger event

Village: +1 RES, +1 DEF, may visit to trigger event

Vendor / Armory / Curios: +1 RES, may visit to purchase and sell items

Church: +2 RES, may visit to become completely healed and restore status for a sum of gold. The going rate is 5g per hit point and 50g to restore status

Inn: +2 RES, may visit to purchase meals or a room for 300g where you may rest for 1 turn to recover all HP, SKL, restore condition, and reset skill cooldowns

Fort: +4 DEF, heal 2 HP

Throne: +2 DEF, +5 RES, heal 5 HP, restores condition

Thicket: Only Fliers can cross, can be attacked to form a Bridge.

Breakable Wall: Cannot cross, can be attacked to allow passage.

Web: -2 DEF, fliers may cross freely, others may pass through by exhausting 1d4 extra movement or attack to allow passage.

Hills: Passable with the exhaustion of one extra movement. Cavalry units must exhaust two extra movement. Flying units are unaffected.

Cliffs/lLedges: Can be scaled in order to reach the space above or below by exhausting 1d4 extra movement. Cavalry cannot climb. Flying units are unaffected.

Swamp: -1 movement to all unit types except flying. 1d4 damage at start of turn.

Mountain/Thick Forest/Water: Only fliers may pass over these, but typically not land on them

⪧ Spaces with more than one of the same terrain tile do NOT combine their bonuses. (Ex: A space that has two forest tiles will not yield +2 defense, only +1 defense)
⪧ Spaces that have two different terrain tiles, however, DO combine their bonuses. (Ex: A space with a fort and a forest tile on it will yield +3 defense, +5hp)

Map Types
Outdoor, Open Area - Cavalry, Wyvern, Pegasus, Beast and Bird Units will roll 8-sided die for movement, and untraversable terrain may be crossed

Field Conditions
Darkness: This is the term that will be used when referring to instances of fog of war, night time, or just whenever there is not enough light to see. This field condition sets unit vision to 1, meaning they will only see the adjacent spaces around them and their own space. Beast units will have additional vision of 3 spaces while in Darkness. Sometimes while in Darkness, the terrain will still be partly visible, but no units will be able to be seen. Other times, the map will be completely hidden, but sometimes traversed spaces will allow you to remember the terrain as you explore the map.

Airborne: This is the term that will be used when referring to instances of flying units being permitted to stop on normally unlandable spaces due to being in flight. Spaces of this field condition will be marked by a different color other than black (normal) or red (secret/hidden). Unit types that do not fly will not be allowed to traverse the airborne spaces unless being rescued. Examples of maps that might use this field condition are being out at sea and defending against flying assailants, or being high above the clouds.


Traps
The world can be a dangerous place! One must always be cautious when out on an adventure or mission. You never know when you might stumble into a trap... or can you? When I design my maps, I think strategically about what kinds of traps to have and where to put them. Some aren't very dangerous, but others could be potentially devastating. A closer look at the map, a thoughtful inspect, or just having really good luck could save you.
The die one must roll to see if they pass a trap will vary depending on the average luck stat of the party. Here are some of the more commonly found traps.

Light Rune - Unit is trapped for one turn within the encompassing barrier of light; one time trap

Summon - An enemy appears, location varies; one time trap

Poison Gas/Lava Tile - Unit receives some damage and the poison/burn status; repeats so long as a unit is on the space

Snake Bite - Unit could receive some damage and the poison status; repeats when landed on

Bear Trap - Unit could receive some damage and the bleed status. Unit could also remain trapped in place; one time trap

Becoming a GM


I always appreciate when people show interest in wanting to host their own games. However, I'll need to make sure a person has everything they need and knows what they're doing.


GM Guildlines

→ Uphold the established rules.
→ Resolve any issues that arise. You can come to me if you need help with judgement calls. It doesn't matter if I'm in the game.
→ Just as I will respect you as the GM for your game, you will respect that I am the head of boardgame and will put my foot down if I need to.
→ There's no time limit for GMs updating their games, but you should make sure that I am capable of updating as a backup, just in case the need arises

What you'll need

→ A clear, well thought out idea - This includes things such as the goal, team size, enemies and NPCs, type of terrain you want, traps, field effects, and any events that will happen during the course of the game
→ A map - If you are incapable of making your own map, I can do it, but you'll need to give me as much information as you can. At the very least, you can graph out your map's board
→ Item lists
→ A record of support points between characters, WEXP, and BEXP gained throughout the game. I will need to see the BEXP you intend to reward before you post it.
→ A list of every space, identifying if it is an item space, trap, field effect, or nothing - I do not need to see this, as I may be participating
→ Photoshop - to edit your game files
→ My approval - We'll work through any issues I may have
