As the next day comes and noon arrives, five people find themselves in the guild building at the castle. They are led to Lady Isadora's office, but instead of the dame knight, their eyes meet Vice Captain Rath. The group files in and stands before him.
Kieran, the knight, part of Learania's armed forces who also took part in the last mission.
Aruna, the 'cleric', who works at the Hostess Club as a waitress and fought with Kieran in the last mission.
Wallace, the armorknight, a captain in Learania's armed forces.
Alex, the archer, who is also a captain in Learania's armed forces.
Sunil, the cat, who is a cat and does cat things.
The five of them await the mission details they are about to receive. "Obviously, I am not Lady Isadora..." Rath begins "Suffice it to say, I have taken a personal interest in this mission and will be taking part in it with you."
"Not long ago, a mission was completed, where the corpse of a criminal was brought in. As a precaution, I had the body analyzed by Sister Victoria. She discovered that the body had been dead for much longer than it should have been. The mission reported revenants and enemies whose bodies began to decay once they were defeated. It was clear that we had been fooled. The body was just another one of the criminal's reanimations. Upon realizing the body was not the criminal's, it suddenly arose and attacked. Thankfully, nobody was seriously hurt, though I suspect Sister Victory may have a few choice words for the team that brought that body in..." He eyes Kieran and Aruna. "Nevertheless, despite the criminal still being at large, we have learned something. Before, we did not know why he was stealing corpses from the villages. Now we do. Though we do not know what for, we do know that he is taking these corpses in order to reanimate them with necromancy." He takes a moment to let that sink in. "...Every person you fight in order to get to him will be somebody's parent, child, friend... you don't know who you might see. This insult to nature must be put to an end. We cannot afford to let him escape again."
He pulls out a map and holds it up. "Thankfully, he did not expect that I would take the precaution of having the body checked before cremation. His attempt was to make us think he was dead. However, now we have an advantage; he doesn't know that we know he's alive. He'll be bound to want to change up his routine now, but I've already sent out the Guard to set up blockades and detours that will force him to go to the particular village marked on this map if he wants to continue his plans. We will be waiting for him. Captain Wallace has volunteered to take part in this and I have asked Captain Alex to come along as well, despite not being in the guild. Though of rank, they will not be assuming any command of this team." He lowers the map. "We leave at first dawn, tomorrow. If you're late, you will be left behind. Dismissed."
The next morning, the five meet Rath at the Eyris city gates and begin their journey north. They lose Wallace only once along the way. The trip cannot be made in one day, so they stop for a night. Most enjoy themselves around the campfire, one sits off by himself after hunting some food for everyone. The next morning they set off again and eventually arrive at their destination.
Rath organizes civilian safety with the village leader, while the five organize a lookout routine with the local town watch. As night falls, sure enough, the target takes the bait. However, he is not foolish enough to come walking in, himself. Instead, the village is set into an uproar as revenants begin to cause panic. When seeing that the village was ready for him, the target decides to take his leave. However, Sunil is able to track him. The cat had been given the cloak from the body that was brought in with the last mission to smell and learn the scent. Though the cloaks were different, the scents on them resembled one another. The hypothesis that the target had given one of his cloaks to that reanimation was correct.
"Go!" shouts Rath to the five "I will handle things here and then follow after you. I can track your movements. Hurry! Do not let him get away!"
The five nod to each other and then depart the village. Once outside, Sunil is able to smell much better without the overwhelming smell of death and decay from the revenants. They then begin to track the target in the order of Alex, Sunil, Wallace (fail tank, letting the dps lead), Aruna and then Kieran at the rear.
They struggle to keep track of the target and lose the trail a few times, but manage to track him to a heavily forested area close to the mountains. Unfortunately, Wallace somehow got lost from them along the way and somehow ends up ahead of them. Go figure. In any case, the team realizes that there is a village nearby and the target may be intending to raid it. Whichever path they take, haste is of the essence.

"WHY AM I GOING FIRST," he yells in the direction of the close ranged melee units.
Alex steps onto tile 1 and hoping to god he doesn't stay in front of the group for long.

"Mrow" was the cat's response. After all, he's just a cat. Not like any of these people could understand him in this form anyway.
He could sense an enemy nearby so he moved past the archer to tile 5.

Oh hey, there's someone right next to me. It ain't the meatshield, but I can tell he's a little further ahead. Anyway, this guy. You're not getting away from me.
Aruna hypothesized necromancy before it was cool Victoria became a coroner. Just saying.
So thus began her journey to bring justice to the one who continues to break the laws of nature. Can't start a crusade without taking the first step so Aruna slithered to tile 3.
