The Healer
Name:Crysicai CAI. My name is CAI. Age: 20 (as of 11/29/13) Gender: Female Sexual Orientation: Uninterested (Straight) Craft/Rank: Healer Apprentice History: Chrysicai was born and spent her early life at Benden Weyr. Her mother was a blue rider and her father a baker who first attracted her by plying her with sweets. After a brief romance he fell disinterested and left her with child, telling her to drop it between as he wanted nothing to do with fatherhood. Distraught she kept the child, naming it strongly after him in hopes of regaining his affections. Sicayris was true to his word though, even though the child obviously bore the stamp of his genetics he wanted nothing to do with her or her mother.
Cai was relegated to the creche to be raised with the rest of the weyrbrats. Her mother visited her rarely, regretting her decision to keep the child. It never terribly bothered Cai, it was a natural fact of weyrlife after all. Dragonrider children rarely had strong bonds with their parents. The one thing she learned from her mother is to hate her father for leaving her and to never give herself completely to any man.
Cai was a very independent child from the get go. Stubborn and sure of herself she fought her way to the top of the pecking order, developing a circle of friends who followed her like canines. Cai showed an interest in medicine early and instead of Standing at the weyrs dwindling clutches, she chose to go to the Healers Hall for training.
Five years of training later and Cai has opted to return to her home weyr to study dragon anatomy, possibly considering dragon healing as a future career path.
Description: Generally the first thing noticed about Cai besides her no nonsense attitude is her obnoxiously bright orange hair. Taking after her father in almost every aspect she has a masculine but pretty face with thick brows bearing only the traces of a delicate curve.
A steel rose this one is. Feminine but not overly womanly, Cai keeps her hair simple and straight, just past her shoulders it's long enough to pull into a small knot at the nape of her neck. Freckles decorate her face and the backs of her arms and hands. She almost always wears long pants so it's unknown if her legs bear the same marks. She's of middling height, only 5'7 and likely to stay that way.
Cai blushes, and I mean BLUSHES. Every inch of this girl's skin will turn red if she's embarrassed in any way.
As a Healer Apprentice Cai almost always wears Healer Green somewhere on her person in addition to the apprentice knots pinned to her shoulder.
Personality: Sit Down. Shut Up. Do as I say. Cai is In Charge and you'll just have to deal with it. This is her show and she'll run it whichever way she likes. She wants her fingers in every little pie and everything going her way. Cai is very much the micro manager. She'll constantly be on others backs, making sure they're doing their work properly. She doesn't so much agree with lazing about. There are things to be done and people need to do them NOW not later or when they feel like it.
Cai believes she's doing what's best for the Weyr and it's inhabitants though many will just find her bossy. Cai will question anyone and everyone's methods if she doesn't think they're the best. "Why not do it this way? It would go a lot faster if you did this..." ect. The terrible thing is when she's given the control she needs she does a good job! While she won't make friends with those she bosses around, you can't deny she gets results.
Cai doesn't like people arguing with her. She's very stubborn and set in her ideas. Things will go a LOT smoother if you'll just do as she says. As a healer she's shown a talent for it. Her serious attitude applies itself well to her chosen craft though her bedside manners leave much to be desired. She can be sympathetic but she's never empathetic. In fact she's quite blunt in telling you the truth and exactly what she thinks.
Friendships are easy enough to maintain so long as she surrounds herself with followers. She hates being challenged for her position. If you want someone to give you direction she's the girl for you. She doesn't respond well to authority herself unless she agrees with their means. If she wants to learn something by all means she'll put everything into it but as stated, if she feels there's a better way to do it she'll find it and demand a change of methods. Should she be punished for something she'll not take it kindly. How DARE they put her on tuber duty when she was only trying to make things better?! They're just stubborn old hidebound wherries. She'll show them.
Cai strongly believes in what she does. She loves her home and wants what's best for it. Whether that means challenging old ideas and traditions or upholding them she'll do everything within her power to improve the lives of everyone in the Weyr according to her idea of how it should be. She values self motivators and those with a strong work ethic as well as education and people with open minds.
She has a petty streak. She'd not above doling out her own form of punishment...such as numbweed on the rim of your cup. It's just her way of solving an annoying problem that hasn't responded to other more conventional methods. (as in shutting up when she tells you to) She never does anything that could seriously harm someone and she doesn't see these antics as pranks. Just teaching them a lesson that they're apparently too dim in the head to learn.
Though she's interested in dragonhealing, her favorite subject of study is herbology. She loves learning about Pern's flora and what type of uses and dangers they may have.
She doesn't react violently, at least not physically. Sure she'll imagine punching someone in the gut but she won't actually do it. The only time she'd strike someone is if they were attacking her or invading her personal space in a way she dislikes. Even then it would take some button pushing before she really lets loose on you. (Hugs and kisses are a no no) She's not above yelling and scolding or insulting someone though.
Cai doesn't quite fit with her home weyr. Being of a younger generation she's thought long and hard about it and it just makes sense to her that Benden needs to change if it's to survive in this Pass. Being exposed to the medical advancements AVIAS provided centuries ago as well as a more open minded knowledge of what goes on outside of old hidebound Benden she firmly believes they need to accept the changing of the times. Atypicals have proven themselves sturdy and useful to the southern Weyrs and with Benden's dwindling health and wing strength, they need all the dragons they can get. If a young dragon as small as a green can grow to be the size of a bronze AND produce a larger flame, shouldn't that be considered an asset rather than a liability?
As far as romance goes. She's doesn't want anything to do with it. It's frivolous and if what her mother taught her is true, only gets you hurt. She walls off the little part of herself that says this boy or that is cute and tries to ignore any obvious attempts at flirting. Falling in love is something she's determined NOT to do.
While she can be friendly with people who don't rub her the wrong way, she doesn't ever take the time to relax. She'll chat with people while doing chores, or eating meals. But during her down time she wants to be doing something. Sitting around lounging in the sun or playing games makes her feel very awkward. She'll usually prowl the weyr looking for someone who needs help with what they're doing or she'll use her free time to further study the dragons or her herbs.
Pros: Motivated, Strong work ethic, responsible, bold, honest, brave, Cons: Cold, bossy, argumentative, Demands perfection from others, petty.
Other: She doesn't have much contact if any with her mother, after leaving the weyr the rider was able to forget she had a daughter and Cai feels no need to bother her. As for her father she still retains that learned anger. Oddly it's only displayed as an avoidance of the kitchens and a refusal to eat baked goods other than basic bread. She dislikes sweets.
Crimson Miath Age: 3 (as of 12/17/2013) Personality: Miath is a creature of the senses. Things that look nice, feel nice, sound nice, or smell and taste nice all appeal to this self indulgent dragon. Unpleasant things like chores, and lessons are generally to be avoided. She'd much rather laze about on a perfectly sunny beach then attend to her rider's studies. With the threat of Thread over their heads and war amongst the weyrs should they not live every day to it's fullest? A day spent indoors hard at work is a day wasted that they will never get back. Miath intends to never waste a single day this way.
Not to say she will never pull her weight among the wings. She can be convinced to put effort towards a common goal... if you bribe her. Promises of a deep scrubbing or an extra fat herdbeast can be quite the motivators so long as you keep up your end of the bargain. Miath will be severely disappointed in you if you don't. You may find yourself something that is no longer pleasant and shouldn't be around her till she forgets about the incident. This can even extend to her rider. Should Hers not follow through with a promise she may find herself shut out of the crimson's mind and given the cold shoulder. Thankfully due to a stereotypically draconic memory, Miath most likely will have forgotten your transgression by the next morning.
When it comes to a crimson's reputed temper Miath displays little of it. She has a very long fuse and explosive reactions are extremely rare. She forgives and forgets with relative ease. Miath would much rather move past any unpleasant nonsense and get back to sunning.
A dragon so focused on personal pleasure might be seen as conceited and vain. Miath is gregarious in her indulgences, wanting to share her time and pleasures with as many companions as possible. It's not all about her enjoyment but that of everyone. They had better hope they enjoy her own brand of pleasures because Miath can be VERY insistent. Being alone does not agree with Miath. What is a swim in the lake if she has no one to talk to or play with?
Miath is not entirely an open book either. What goes on between her and her rider is Their Business and not to be discussed amongst others. Attempts to pry into their relationship are a quick ticket to shuns-ville and if you persist? It's one of the few things that can make this crimson snap.
Why Me? Cai needs to take a moment and actually smell the flowers she loves to study so much. Having a good work ethic is fine and dandy but Miath feels Cai's going to work herself into an early grave if she keeps this up. Miath admired her genuine interest in the betterment of others. Their methods may be different but they both want to make the world a better place. Cai's determination to get stuff done and constant drive to work will get the two through lessons and training while Miath's insistence upon frequent baths and oiling will give Cai a chance to relax and de-stress while still feeling productive.

Friends and Foes
Kleos, Rider of Crimson Moriath Status: Friend Opinion: Whatever people may think of Benden, not all of us hate atypicals. Kleos and Moriath are in my opinion proof that the colors have worth. I also admire her as a woman and a rider who has achieved a level of respect that doesn't require a gold hide.
Bereck, Rider of Green Berath Status: Friend? Opinion: I didn't get much chance to talk to him at Malvren, he was severely injured and at best barely lucid. I spent most of my time with Berath and she's really quite sweet. I'm hoping Bereck recovers. I think I'd actually find myself sad to lose the two of them so soon.
Wen, Rider of Black Rynsemth Status: Friend Opinion: He's lucky Miath likes Rynsemth.
Hekate, Rider of Silver Devith Status: Neutral Opinion: Worse than a tunnelsnake in your bed or a trundlebug in your boot. She think's she's being clever by not 'naming names' but it's obvious to anyone with ears exactly what and to who she means. While I can still respect the silver's usefulness to a fighting force, Trine can HAVE them. I want nothing to do with them personally. Not after THAT. Obviously, not all atypicals are born equal. I still don't like her.
C'rci, Rider of Blue Bolth Status: Acquaintance Opinion:
Rochelle, Rider of Crimson Kibath Status: Acquaintance Opinion
C'tis, Rider of Blue Malcarreth Status: Acquaintance Opinion:
Aleck, Rider of Blue Belcarrath Status: Aquaintance Opinion:
Green Gingko Age: 1 Obtained: Given egg by D'lin from found clutch. Flights: Personality:Gingko is very proper and polite. She is trained to identify and retrieve small objects and to follow Cai's orders to the letter. She can come off as shy because she usually waits for Cai's permission before approaching someone new though she enjoys meeting and playing with other flits.
Her own weyr! Well this is a lot cozier. Cai certainly doesn't plan on sharing her quarters anytime soon. After all, isn't that what those shaffing districts are for?
Possessions: 3 changes of basic work clothes 1 set of rider leathers and gear + 1 spare set of gear 1 dress... don't ask. She won't wear it again. (She wore it again) 3 notebooks, one fresh, two full 2 writing sticks 1 set brushes, and rags for dragon care 1 appropriated nail file, for dragon care 1 bound encyclopedia of northern herbs and their uses.
Aromatherapy and Medicinal Oils: 1 large jar lavender-peppermint-hops oil - For nervous and anxious dragons (or just because Miath likes the smell) 1 large jar numbweed 1 large jar Grapeseed Oil (carrier) 1 small jar Peppermint Oil (headaches) 1 small jar Lavender Oil (bug bites, itches, sunburn) 1 small jar Tea-tree Oil (cuts, cold sores, promotes healing) 4 scented candles (citrus, eucalyptus, clove, and cedarwood)

Portraits
Studying - This is about as close to relaxing as Cai gets. Nose deep memorizing her flora or anatomy notes. Feast Dress - You guys get ONE. Just one, and if you ever mention her wearing a dress again you will not leave the lavatory for a sevenday AT LEAST.
I've obtained a flit rather unexpectedly. She's a green with an almost milky hide and pale spots on her legs. I've chosen to name her Gingko though I have yet to figure out what to do with her. Hoping she'll prove trainable. Further notes will be tacked on later as right now she is curled up on the bottom of this page.
Next day Though she has obviously yet to learn any commands, Gingko has proven to be quite obedient to mental cues. Will have to explore this in full later when I have more time.
Update I wasn't sure about having a flit at first but I'm glad I have her now. Gingko's learned simple commands such as stay, bring it, quiet. I can send her with small messages to people she's seen before, though she won't go to someone she hasn't met even with a clear image of the person. I've trained her to stay by my side unless given leave which she doesn't seem adverse to. Aside from a companion she's also been an interesting study subject. While they are very similar to dragons, there are notable differences in firelizard anatomy that I had yet been able to study. I won't do so needlessly but I find myself curious if common practices in dragon healing can be used on firelizards as well.
Miath was asleep and Cai was exhausted, yet she stared at the ceiling with red rimmed eyes. Sleeping in a different bed, under a different roof, wearing different clothes. Her life had changed in an instant once again and Cai wasn't entirely sure she liked the new path. Over the past sevenday she'd gone through a range of emotions and thoughts. Enough to put Miath into a terrible state a couple times. Cai just... she hadn't wanted to Impress. She hadn't wanted to be a rider.
At first she'd tried to reason that she'd be able to do as she'd wanted. Master Bereck after all was a rider and a healer. He had Impressed turns ago, when Thread wasn't falling and he had the time and freedom to pursue his craft. Cai was a weyrling at the beginning of a Pass. Against her will she would be forced to train and prepare to fight Thread with the rest of the riders, to join the wings sent out to danger rather than prepare the weyr for their return. Unless she chose to clutch which didn't sound any more appealing to her.
Despite what she said about being open-minded to atypicals, she was raised at Benden and some things just sink in. Sure being a breeder might mean she'd have the time to work on her craft, it would mean she wouldn't have to fight Thread in the traditional sense. It would also mean Miath would be a waste of space, waiting on the off chance she clutches a couple eggs once a decade... It would mean an importance placed on her flights... One that made Cai incredibly uncomfortable to think about.
"Miath... why do you have to make things so hard." She tilted her head to the side to watch Miath sleep. It concerned her that Miath wasn't growing as fast as her siblings either. She ate, more than enough Cai would think, but not as much as her larger siblings. She was cared for and oiled just as regularly as theym but place her side by side with Kibeth, or between her and the small green that had returned from elsewhere, and you could plainly see that Miath did not fit with traditional sizes.
Little green eyes stared back at her. ~ You think too hard Caimine. It is time for sleeping.~ She dainty creature lifted herself from her small wallow and carefully hefted herself into Cai's cot. She wriggled into Cai's side, draping her head on the rider's breast and blinked slowly at her. ~ We will bathe and eat in the morning. Or maybe do something interesting. Worrying isn't good, especially when we should be asleep.~

Time had not made the decision any easier, even if it had eased their relationship. Miath's blatantly obvious displays of affection grated on Cai's nerves, but the feelings were reciprocated just as strongly internally. In the privacy of their weyr, at least when their bunkmate wasn't around, Cai could sometimes be found curled up against Miath, reading a book, or writing in her notebook.
Whether she'd admit it or not, the responsibility and care she took in making sure the young atypical was healthy and happy did as much good for her as it had the dragon. Cai had put on weight in the form of muscle, and was opening up just a little with people. She'd even managed to make a friend in a fellow weyrling, Wen of Rynsemth. Miath was absolutely enamored with the black. It was one thing she never forgot to Cai's chagrin. Cai found an easy comfort around Wen. She hadn't quite realized she had a learned hatred for men until she forgot that Wen, with his short stature and long pale hair, was one.
It wasn't that he was womanly, or that she was attracted to that or him in any way. It was more she allowed herself to be comfortable, to talk to him and even go so far as to jest with him on occasion. She found that there was no tense undercurrent of 'He's a Man and I'm a Woman if he moves i'll Kill Him'. That she didn't automatically go on the defensive around him. Well, except for when he touched her. She still didn't like being touched.
It wasn't love. She didn't love anyone but Miath, but it was the closest thing to affection she'd ever given any human alive.
Back to the point though. Cai still had a decision to make and the fact that she could not make it was by far the most aggravating thing she'd ever encountered. She couldn't just say "We're Fighters!" like Rochelle and Kibeth, or "We're Breeders!" Like Aislin and Loveth. She was neither, and neither was Miath honestly.
From an outside perspective anyone would know it's obvious that Miath was born to breed. Cai on the other hand was utterly appalled by the idea. She fought against it with almost every fiber of her being. Yet she had not signed up to put her life on the line to protect a Weyr she didn't love, and people she mostly despised or at best thought of as idiots. Even if she were back home at Benden (where this choice would not have been available as Miath's egg would not have been cracked) she wouldn't want to Fight thread. Her job, her purpose in life, was to create medicines for and bandage up those who did.
She couldn't give up her dreams just because Pern had thrown a tunnel snake in the form of a crimson dragon into her nest. A small part of her still considered dragonhealing... it would be easy and logical seeing as she was a rider, but it didn't feel exactly right.
Which is all beside the point. If she wanted to even get her journeyman's knots, she'd have to choose breeder and devote her time back to her studies. Could she really deny Pern a fighting dragon when they were so sorely needed? Could she really fight thread when SHE, and what skills she might now or someday possess, was needed on the ground? Miath would be happy as a breeder. Cai wouldn't. Cai couldn't stand the idea that Miath had no purpose other than to make babies, one she probably wouldn't even fulfill. Miath could assist her in dragonhealing, but if she stuck with herbology and apothecary then Miath was just a pretty pet.
She wanted both and she felt she couldn't have both. Compromise wasn't something Cai did very well. She was barely 18 and it felt like her life was over.
Cai slammed her notebook shut on the desk, then picked it up and chucked it across the room. The chair was shoved back with a screech and Cai's boots thumped across the dirt floor until Cai dropped to her knees and crawled into the small safe place within Miath's folded arms.
Miath thrummed and lowered her neck back down, blues warring with yellows in her lidded eyes as she curled her neck around Cai and lulled her into sleep. Gingko would let them before someone discovered them.
Wen: So... on one through ten... I rate this worse then being stabbed but not as bad as being tossed off my runner.
Cai: Being stabbed isn't as bad as being thrown off a runner? Your priorities are messed up.
Wen: It was rocky ground and I ended up being slightly dragged and from here *Just under his shoulder and down well pass his hips* was bloody and raw
Cai: *grimaces* Ow.
Wen: You should see the scar... *Heavily scared all the way down*
Cai: Sounds like you didn't have a decent healer. *eyes him* Or you didn't follow their directions.
Wen: I did... I lost a good amount of skin though.
Wen: They had to cut off the worse bits
Cai: *nods* You can't just slap it back on and expect it to re-grow every time. *smirks* Cleaning it couldn't have felt too good either.
Wen: Mmhm, I was rather high then... can't remember much besides watching them pick stones out of my flesh and occasionally going ow
Cai: *laughs* That's gross. I still think being stabbed might just be a liiiitle bit worse though.
Wen: *Lifts his arm and pulls it back to show the wounds* Well, it wasn't like they stabbed anything important.
Cai: You're lucky then. I generally think anything inside the body that shouldn't be outside the body is pretty important. *glances quickly but stubbornly refuses to stare*
Wen: *Runs his finger over the scar and smiles* Yeah... blood is better inside my body then out.
Cai: *shakes her head amused* I'd meant organs but yes, that too.
Wen: Mmhm, well, there not many organs that can flop outside the body
Cai: >_> You'd be surprised. It's rather awful all the sorts of things the human body can do to itself, even uninjured.
Wen: I known what a hernia is
Cai: There's Renal and Vaginal Prolapse as well.
Wen:... Thank you for that lovely thought
Cai: *beams* You're welcome Wen~
Wen: I hope you end up having twins some day.
Cai: *harsh laugh* Not hard to avoid getting pregnant if you don't have sex.
Wen:.. *lifts a brow* reaaaally?
Cai: ... -_- Please tell me you know where babies come from.
Wen: It was more on the comment that you are going to remain chaste instead of a biology, dear Cai. I know quite well where babies come from.
Cai: And what about it Wen? My father left my mother when he found out she was pregnant. I don't intend on ending up like her.
Wen:... You do know they make toys for that, right? *Knows more then he ever wants from his 'sisters' toy chest*
Cai: >///< That is not something that ever needs to be talked about.
Wen: Fingers then
Cai: Wen!
Wen: Tongues?
Cai: We're not talking any more. *flustered*
Wen: But we are talking... would you rather have this talk with Jemi? She knows people.
Cai: I would rather not talk about this subject at all!
Wen:... Would you rather we get drunk first?
Cai: If that's going to be the topic of conversation I'd rather we didn't get drunk at all. >_>
Wen: Really? I thought that was how you were suppose to approach conversations that no one cares to talk about.
Cai: If no one cares to talk about something then why talk about it at all, drunk or sober?
Wen: because it should be talked about?
Cai: I really don't feel my sexual habits should be talked about. You're lucky Miath isn't here. >_>
Wen: Why not? Everyone else talks about their sexual escapades.
Cai: Just because everyone else does doesn't mean I have to! Why are you so shaffing interested anyways?!
Wen: *Shrugs* You remind me of me and just wondering if you don't find people sexually attractive
Cai: >_> *stares suspiciously* ... *sighs* It doesn't matter if I do or not. I'm not going to have sex or get into a relationship or be a part of any of that dimglowed nonsense.
Wen: Have you ever seen your father and the person you think of an Uncle do it on the command desk? It is not a pretty picture
Cai: *covers her face* Oh Shells no! Ugh.
So... you're not attracted to people then?
Wen: Not... physically?
Wen: It is confusing because... I know most of my barrack mates would find you sexually attractive and all I can think is your hair is a pretty shade of red.
Cai: *snorts* Miath's prettier. You're lucky you have Rynsemth then since he won't ever Rise or chase.
Wen: I sort of like it when we argue though.. *Shrugs* no, he won't which is a bit irritating to him I think. He can't chase Miath.
Cai: o///o He wants to Chase Miath?
Cai: At least you can hold your own in a conversation. It's better than most of the idiots in this Weyr *grins*
Wen: I think he does in a way. He likes her and certainly finds her worthy of his time and he never will. It irks him that he in a way is not perfection. He is rather good at covering it though. *smiles* They are rather brash and loud
Cai: *eyerolls* I'm sure she'd be ecstatic to know he thinks so highly of her. I know she's completely enthralled by all that flowery talk he uses around her.
Wen: He is a horrible flatter, isn't he. *Amused*
Cai: Oh shells and she falls for it hook line and sinker
Walks on the Beach:
Cai and Wen discuss Impression while Miath and Rynsemth get to know each other.
Wen: You looked as if you would hyperventilation at the spot *Amused*
Cai: Well I wasn't exactly PLANNING on becoming a dragonrider. You might have panicked a bit too if Rynsemth had snuck up on you Impressed when your back was turned. *is frankly glad Wen is the only one to see her small fit*
Wen: I wasn't planning on even standing. I got snagged when delivering a message and decided might as well. At least I wouldn't have to puzzle out the three some my father got himself in
Cai: Still, you were standing and knew you might Impress. I was just doing my shaffing job.
Miath: *amused giggles*
Rynsemth: *Ignoring them both, sprawled out* ... The sun makes your hide glow today Miath, were you just oiled?
Wen: I hadn't planned on impressing with five hungry flits. Then the eggs get stole and I can't help because they want me on the sands and ugh. >< Lets agree it was a mess.
Cai: Agreed. That was a fiasco.
Miath: *thrumms* Yesss. Caimine does it even if I'm not itchy. It feels great.
Wen: Mmhm.
Rynsemth: It really brings out your color, darling Miath.
Miath: *stretches and shifts closer to Rynsemth* You flatter me Rynsemth, but what of yourself? You're like the sharp glass from volcanoes.
Rynsemth: *Rumbles and streches, nosing Miath* But go get the sharp glass one needs the lava to burst and cool. I am pale inlue of yourself. But thank you, for the complement.
Miath: Together then. You can't have one without the other. *pleased* I would not glow so brightly without your dark contrast.
Rynsemth: *nods* Together, we are complementary warmth and glow of natures most dangerous and lovely acts of violence.
Miath: *merrs* Well, maybe not violence. I see it as more creation, isn't it the volcanoes that create new land?
Rynsemth: That it does, but it also burns things, sweeps the slate clean. A sort of reset.
Cai: *snorts* She claims she's not violent. You should have seen her when that Journeyman was prying into my work. Went off like a piece of bad firestone.
Wen: *Amused* Is that so? Certainly she didn't catch on fire or spark and fizzle. *Wants details*
Miath: *does not remember this incident* Hmmhmhmhm Maybe so. It is a slow, loving burn if it is. A fresh start with forgiveness can't be a bad thing can it?
Rynsemth: A fresh start is never a bad thing.
Cai: *snickers* Oh yeah. Apparently there is a bit of dragon in her after all. She puffed up like an angry tunnelsnake and gave him a piece of her mind. It's about the only time I honestly believed she was mine.
Wen: And did he rush off?
Cai: Well he never bothered me again that's for certain. Frankly I'd be happy just hearing he fell of one of those blasted cliffs and got swept out to sea.
Wen: Are you sure you want him to fall off a cliff?
Cai: Yes. And get swept out to sea.
Cai: Of course, he was better than that idiot Harper candidate
Wen:.. Could be a possibility
A small one
Rynsemth: *Amused* Are we going to push someone of a cliff mine?
Wen: < Off a wall into a lake or something, maybe>
Cai: *eyes Wen... then carefully ignores the dropped hints. If he happened to meet with misfortune she was not a part of it.*
Wen: Have you ever walked the cliff side?
Cai: I only go to the shore when Miath needs to be washed.
Wen: The cliffs have a good view. Rynesmth enjoys the exercise.
Rynsemth: Because of the view, you can spy on people up there
Miath: I like how the rocks soak up the sun. *muses* People watching could be nice too
Cai: You're lazy Miath.
Rynsemth: They look like bugs. But it is a nice place to sun, warmer as well.
Wen: They both are.
Cai: *eyes the two dragons* I suppose.... if she wanted to sun with Rynsemth that would be fine. I'd be able to get some work done while she was occupied.
Wen: She would be perfectly fine, and you could always come with. There are some intresting plants on the cliffs.
Cai: *smirks* I know what you're trying to do, and long walks by the water are not productive. Pretty plants or no. Miath can go if she wants, as long as she's with Rynsemth.
Wen: *Tips his head in confusion and shrugs* As you command.
Flying: Miath and Rynsemth discuss the upcoming spy raids and flight
Rynsemth: *Streches his wings and wanders over to Miath*
Miath: *rubs her head under Rynsemth's neck*
Rynsemth: *Rumbles and nuzzles Miath* Good evening, Miath. *Leans against her*
Miath: *thrumms* How is my Rynsemth tonight?
Rynsemth: I have been well, darling Miath. Wen has been prepairing for the raids and we been practicing. *He stretched, giving a pleased sound* And you, how has the day found you?
Miath: Raids? What raids? *stretches against him* Mine is spending too much time in her books again. She is thinking too hard.
Rynesmth: *Rumbles* Something about scrambling Wher eggs *Pleased about the idea* Books can be intriguing. Though, I take it her books are dry? *hmms softly* Perhaps you could ask yours to read poetry for you..
Miath: *just looks confused* Hmmm. Her books... a lot are about plants, which the pictures are nice sometimes. *shuffles through Cai's thoughts* Some are about dragons. I don't know why. Poetry would be nice. I don't know if she's read any!
Rynsemth: Perhaps she is learning to heal you as she heals people. *Eyes half close.* By the pleasant sun, you shine, radiant. Glowing like molten glass being shaped to cool. *hums* not my best but, do you like it Miath?
Miath: *eyes whirl blue-green* Rynsemth you have a skill unmatched~
Rynsemth: You flatter me. *Rumbles*
Wen: *Pauses and goes the other direction amused*
Rynsemth: *pleased to be alone* Have you attempted to fly yet?
Maith: Hmmm not yet. Mine doesn't want me attempting it alone and she is busy. Have you?
Rynsemth: More like small jumps... I haven't figured yet how to get off the ground yet * Irritated*
Miath: *chuckles good-naturedly* You'll get it I'm sure. I won't be surprised to see you first off the ground among our clutch.
Rynsemth: *preens at Miath's praise, eyes whirling bright* I'm sure you won't be far behind. I'm sure you are a natural in flight.
Miath: I would like to try it! It looks just magnificent and would be more convenient than walking I'd think. *amused*
Miath: I'd like to hunt.
Rynsemth: Who does not? The end of the hunt, taste of flesh and blood. Delicous. Much more convenient then walking.
Miath: *nods and licks her maw* It will be nice to do it myself.
Rynsemth: Perhaps we could hunt together.
Miath: *thrumms* I would like that!
Rynsemth: It is a date, as the human's say.
Miath: *pleased rumblings!* I'll get mine out of the weyr so we may practice today.
Rynsemth: *Thrumms pleased* I know a place where we could practice.
Miath: *interested* Do tell~
Rynsemth: It is closer to the beast fields but it is open space. Much room to turn in.
A Choice Made During the Memorial Gather, Cai and Wen discuss her choice, and what she really wants.
Wen: If I was going to bring up intimacy, then we should have brought a thing of oil. Tingly
Cai: o____________________o *flailstammerhitrunaway* NO NO NO NO NO NO
Wen:... Do you need a glass of wine? *Completly confused*
Cai: *panicky* NO!!
Miath: ???
Rynsemth: I do not know...
Wen: Ice?
Miath: That one smelled nice though...
Cai: *flails* Wen I swear by Ramoth's golden egg...
Wen: For me to stop talking? *Grin* 3
Cai: *pinches the bridge of her nose* Faranth I wish you would.
Wen: *laughs softly and grabs Cai's hand* Come on.
Cai: *flinches and pulls away* NO THANK YOU o______o
Wen: *bemused* Not to the Weyr, to the stalls
Cai: TnT *just frazzled*
Wen: Come on, *Buys her something to drink that non alcholoic*
Cai: *flops on table* Wen you are just the worst *cradles drink gratefully*
Cai: I'm beginning to think you do this on purpose
Wen: *Chuckles softly* Perhaps a tiny bit. Would you like something to eat as well?
Cai: Well stop it! It's exhausting... ... and yes ...please...
Wen: Any requests?
Cai: Food... of the non-baked variety.
Wen: I can find something I think *Goes and gets a sandwich and some fruit*
Cai: *eyes it... acceptable* Thanks
Wen: *Settles on the table* So Miath doesn't want to chew stone?
Cai: *sighs* It's not just that. It wasn't an easy decision to make. That was part of it though. We waited while the rest of you learned and she decided she hated the smell. That and watching them regurgitate completely turned her off from it.
Wen: It is rather nasty. Rynsemth does enjoy the fact he gets to burn things now.
Cai: Heh. Really for her there was no choice. She loves the idea of having a clutch though I try not to bring it up because of how unlikely it is that she will. She doesn't like firestone, and she really didn't like seeing all the dragons burned and scored during threadfall.
Cai: I don't know if she gets that we'll still have to fly in the queen's wing.
Cai: Which I too would prefer not to do. But unfortunately that's not our choice. We're stuck whether I signed up for this crap or not.
Wen: Does Bereck fight in the Queen's wing or thread fall? *Thinking*
Cai: I think he still fly's thread... or rather he did before he was injured. But he's a Master, and he's old. If he didn't want to I'm sure they'd let him off.
Wen: Why don't you talk to him about setting up a healer wing? *Sips from a light white wine* Surely having a dragon able to move to those injured in the field would be useful.
Cai: *muses* It's a thought... I might bring that up with him. I need to get back into my craft anyways. I planned on getting my Journeyman knots almost a turn ago!
Wen: It couldn't hurt. *Sips slowly* And healers are always useful. We were lucky, this thread fall.
Cai: *nods* Well, the Wingsecond wasn't, but other than him I'd have to say I agree. Not as many wounded as there have been at least.
Wen: Poor b*****d. *Shakes his head, lips press* I would be glad to have you watching our back.
Cai: I'd rather be working on the ground than flying up there with a flamethrower. I don't like the idea of Miath lounging around with nothing to do till she rises though. *stifles a shudder* Her purpose shouldn't be just 'baby maker'.
Wen: *nods* You could have her help with Hatching classes
Cai: *snorts* She has the memory of a trundlebug. I doubt she'd remember her lessons well enough to teach another class. Best she could do is teach them where the best sunning spots are.
Cai: *huffs* I didn't want to be a rider! I had everything planned out! Shaff I didn't even want to come to Trine! I shouldn't be having these problems! I mean, I can't and I wouldn't give Miath up for anything now but seriously?! This is not the cloth I was cut from!
Wen: I wasn't expecting this.. but I did join the candidates. *Leans against Cai* You will do well. You are doing well.
Cai: *shrugs off Wen with a grimace* Oh I'll survive. I've survived every other shaffing thing this planet's thrown at me. I just don't like it.
