After an inital pass over the Weyr to assess the situation Moriath recalled her wing to a clifftop a good half day's travel from the Weyr itself; a moment's travel for them but far away for the wherhandlers. Landing with a thump the crimson dragon reached out reluctantly for Calanoth's mind; he might be a dumb male, but he was a wingleader as much as she was and they would be foolish not to work together. she called.

O'thor was a Sr. Weyrling, not a full rider. He had no wing to join, but he knew better than to fly back into the Weyr without anyone with him. Especially since Orlina was with him, and he needed to protect her. She clung to his waist, looking down at the Weyr as if she could see anything clearly from this high up. She was silent, which O'thor was grateful for, even if it was unusual for her when she was with him. He needed time to think, to plan.
Moriath is near. We will meet her, Adamanth announced and altered his course to seek out the Crimson he had named without checking with O'thor first. The rider didn't argue and soon the pair was landing near the wing of full riders arrayed on a clifftop.
Silver Adamanth and O'thor are here. We are Senior Weyrlings without wing or allies. We have one passenger. We will need direction for what we are to do, he said, directing his announcement to Moriath. They were still Weyrlings, yes, but they could fly and fight and Adamanth was large enough now that the illnesses of his youth were long behind him. They would aid where they could, once they saw O'thor's sister safely away from the Weyr.

Raising her head to watch the incoming weyrling Moriath gave a deep rumble of greeting. she instructed, What were they going to do? She wasn't sure, this wasn't fighting Thread, this was something she had never expected to face.... But she would work it out; she was Moriath, a crimson of Malvren, the greatest dragon on the face of Pern! She just needed a little time to decide what was best.
Releasing herself from the riding straps and sliding to the ground Kleos shaded her eyes to watch the silver, not feeling quite as confident as her dragon. Sometimes she wished she could share that all encompassing, utterly assured arrogance but she did not. She knew she was only one woman, one woman currently feeling in over her head but unable to show it because people expected things of her now. How were they to fight off handlers in the tunnels where their dragons couldn't reach them? They could dominate the air, yes, but their lifemates couldn't attack the handlers and if they kept their whers close to them then the dragons couldn't attack them either for fear of harming the human.
She didn’t know what to do.

Mercy and Aerith had no true idea on what to do - they had no wing, they had no experience in combat of any sort and in truth had led a rather sheltered life for a dragon and rider pair - at least when it came to this sort of thing. Going home had been the knee jerk reaction but once in the air Mercy had realized that going to the Weyr alone could very well be suicide.
Aerith had suggested timing it to see what had really happened but aware of the dangers..and the terrible consequences that had been pounded into her head ever since she had impressed to the white Mercy had vetoed that idea...for now. 'Find the other Malvren dragons' She had instructed the white and so with a bit of mindspeak Aerith had gotten directions to Moriath's meeting point and this is where the white and her rider appeared.
'Shall I tell them we will fight with them?' Aerith asked her rider and Mercy hesitated for a few moments before answering. 'No..just land, if we mention fighting they are liable to try and keep us safe and away from it all...better if we just appear, maybe they won't think of forbidding us from helping' Mercy finally responded and Aerith circled down to land silently a little ways off - perhaps attempting to remain as innocuous as possible and be overlooked in the chaos.
'And if they tell us such a thing?' Aerith asked once on the ground. '..Well...your a white, how many times has it been proven that we're not really a part of Weyr hierarchy anyways? If that's true then we don't really have to listen now do we?' Mercy replied in silent determination. they deserved to fight for their home as much as the other's did and if someone took issue with that well..she'd deal with them afterwards.

Though Morgaine was not a fighter she was also not going to sit idly by and watch her home become lost like Benden had become. So she had Palooth had left the gathering and with a bit of effort found where the others from Malvren had started to gather. She was so grateful to see that Mercy and Aerith were already there. 'We must help save our home Mine.' Palooth said to his rider and Morgaine patted his neck. 'Neither of us are fighters Palooth, I don't know what we can do to help.' The dragon remained silent for a few moments as they landed near Mercy and Aerith.
'They will need healers Mine, and you are a good healer. We will save our home by saving those who can fight.' With her feet back on solid ground Morgaine glanced over at her friend Mercy while her hand rested on Palooth's head. 'You're right Palooth, they will need all the healers they can get.' Her hand scratched the dragons head ridges before taking a few steps closer to Mercy. She was sure if her friend would be involved directly in the fighting or not, she also really wasn't sure what to say, today's events had shocked everyone so Morgaine simply stood near her friend in silence, offering silent support to Mercy and taking the same from the other woman. They could get through this, she knew they could.

Z'fer and Calanoth had just appeared in the air above the weyrlake. Z'fer quickly raised an arm in warning, preventing those who'd followed him from landing. ~ Moriath calls. They are here. ~ The Bronze quickly relayed the new co-ordinates to the rest of the dragons with them and took everyone between a second time.
Thundering into the air above the slowly amassing Dauntless wing, Calanoth bugled, identifying himself. ~ I am Calanoth! I bring the Storm Riders. We have about half our wing free. Some have not checked in, few bear passengers. I do not know the exact amount but we land now. ~ The large bronze slowly circled, watching carefully for the younger dragons. Many of the Weyrlings had went to the Gather but may not have known to follow their home wings back.
Once on the ground Z'fer unbuckled and slid from Calanoth's back, making a bee-line towards Kleos. Her dragons haughty superiority got on his nerves but she was another Wingleader and had done a good enough job to earn at least a grudging respect from the man. He slapped his leather gloves across his thigh, his nerves running on overdrive. "Kleos." He nodded to her as he drew within speaking range. "Good location." It had been better than where he'd sent them originally. He'd needed to see the Weyr though, like many of Malvren's riders.

Mercy was here, good, and Morgaine too. Before she had time to address them however Z'fer arrived on the scene and she nodded briefly to the white and black riders before striding over to greet the bronze. "Z'fer, I am glad to see you," she said, throwing a salute to her fellow wingleader. "I brought my wing out above the Weyr at first, but after breif observation... well I thought it best to withdraw and gather our forces; I do not have all of my wing either." So... now what? The crimson rider shifted her stance and, pulling her flight goggles down around her neck, rubbed at the thread scarring on her face.
"It seems the wherhandlers are not short on support," she said, as going over what she knew first seemed like a good idea. "I think they even have support from some riders... even some of our own riders." Malvren riders. It pained her, but it was true. "We need to get in and help those resisting inside the Weyr as soon as we may, but going in scattered will not help our cause. Organized strike forces, that's what we need." It was, wasn't it? She hoped it was.

Z'fer face darkened as she revealed riders had joined the Revolution. "If they side with the Wherhandlers they are no longer our riders." He said firmly. He would hold no mercy for a traitor. "I brought my people out above the lake. It's difficult to tell what's happening inside the caverns though. As much as it pains me I don't know how much our dragons will be able to help. Unless we can drive the wher's out into the open the dragons won't be able to do much outside of intimidation." He fell silent for a moment, trying to think around his anger.
" If we had firestone...it wouldn't be pretty but they could flame down the hallways. I know they can't attack humans but if they don't know what's down there...it might work. Using fire we could herd the handlers and their sharding beasts into more open territory. That requires us reclaiming the firestone stores." Brainstorming now he spoke as he thought.
"The smallest dragons might be our best bets in this situation. If we make the firestone our first goal. They can deposit our fighters in as close as possible and help defend them, we should be able to hold a small location like that long enough to ferry stone to the dragons back here. And any of our people we come across. We won't need full wings for that."

After their departure from the false Gather, it took Ralla and Firith a bit of time to locate the other Malvren riders, since they hadn't bothered to ask anyone else where they were going. Eventually, though, they caught sight of them, and glided in to land near the group.
We are Ralla and Firith, she announced, And we want to know what's going on.
--
Mazamath arrived a few minutes after Calanoth, having lingered a little longer to further comfort his rider until she was actually ready to ride...or as ready as she would be. Even as they came out from between, tears still streamed down her face. Once they landed, she didn't dismount, only leaned forward to hug her dragon's neck.
We are here, the blue sent, sounding subdued rather than agitated.

After they had reached the lake, they had been given an alternate destination. Perhaps it was a better idea to gather farther away, it wasn't like they had any issues with distance, and until they knew if their passengers were trustworthy, they propably didn't want them near the weyr at all, even if extra people to help out could be useful.
"I've been given a different location by my wingleader," F'nell told his passengers as they hovered, "so we'll have another quick trip between." Take us there.
The brown blinked between, and when they came out into the open, he bugled, identifying himself as well. I am Krith of the Storm Riders. I have two passengers. He glided down to land near his wing, and then helped his passengers to dismount.
"If you two want to stay close, I'll keep you updated with the plans."

With the beating of wings Bolth launched himself out of between gliding and circling as he attempted to spot his allies. There! C'rci mentally called to him spotting the familiar large bronze form of Calanoth. Turning to her passenger she gave the girl a reassuring nod.
Calanoth! Mine and I bring a Benden healer! Where shall we place her? Bolth called down to bronze below as he scouted out a decent place to land setting claw down in a small clearing and stalking closer to the group.
"Don't worry. Malvren always has need of healers." She murmered back to the girl before having Bolth move closer to Calanoth calling out to Z'fer from dragonback.
"C'rci of Blue Bolth reporting in. I was a wherhandler before I impressed, perhaps my knowledge of the creatures and how to combat them can be of use to the Weyr?" She said to Z'fer her chest tightening at the thought of killing her once family, but they had gone too far. Besides there was no sure way of knowing that these whers were from her home after all.

Calanoth looked to the sky, bugling a greeting to his little blue friend. He was glad to see Bolth safely with them. ~ Bolth! Let me ask Mine. ~ The Bronze swung his head around to his rider, demanding the man's attention. ~ Mine. Bolth and his bring a Benden Healer to us. Do you want her right now? ~ ~ A Benden Healer? No... leave her with the other weyrfolk for now but keep an eye on her.
~ Put her down with the weyrfolk. Mine and Moriarth's are discussing plans right now. They'll organize people as needed. ~ Careful to avoid the riders, Calanoth nudged Bolth's side gratefully.
Z'fer waved to C'rci as she approached, warily watching the second head of bright orange hair peeking up over the young rider's back. She didn't look pleased. Why would a Benden healer come here? Should she be back taking care of her own b*****d riders...or wherhandlers? No he didn't exactly like this at all. He wouldn't say anything in front of her though. But he didn't want the girl out of his or his dragon's sights for the time being. Instead he nodded to C'rci. "It may very well help C'rci. I just broached the subject of using flame to drive the wher's out of Malvren's tunnels. We can't get to them if they can hide." He nodded to Kleos, welcoming her opinion.

Cai coughed as the came out of between, her composure cracking as she shuddered from her first experience with the cold nothingness. She looked around wildly, not recognizing the cliffs and shores she found beneath her. This wasn't Benden! "What?! Malvren? I need to go to Benden. Now!" That wherry-brained nit-wit! She was a Benden Healer! She belonged back at HER weyr! While she was wasting time stuck on a Malvren blue's back people from Benden could be dying and she wasn't there.
The moment Bolth stopped moving Cai didn't give them a chance to take her elsewhere. She undid her straps and slid to the ground, flipping her hair back and stalking up to the riders before her. "My name is Cai, I'm an Apprentice Healer from Benden and I did NOT ask to be brought here. I'm needed back at Benden where my people are dying!" She didn't care who she was talking to, only that this situation was rectified to her satisfaction immediately. They couldn't go kidnapping healers from other weyrs!

The young blue in question in turn reached out nuzzling his large bronze friend's neck more then happy to see a friendly face. I will see about getting her to the others.
"Oh by the shell of the first queen you didn't sharding tell us where you wanted to go! Besides it's likely had you stayed at Benden you'd have been captured or killed. I heard your forces are scattering until they can regroup later." C'rci explaining trying to calm the irate healer and fighting the urge to roll her eyes. Beneath her Bolth shifted turning to look at his little passenger with whirling eyes.
Mine and I have done what we could. There will be battle soon and we will greatly need your help. There are plenty injured here who desperately seek your skills. Will you not help them? Bolth asked his tone soft and pleading as he gently nudged the little healer hoping to urge her towards the Weyrfolk.
Turning back to Z'fer, C'rci thought on his plans. "That's a good idea on two fronts. Wher's can't stand bright light as well and even if we don't get a direct hit with the fire it's likely the sudden burst of light will stun them momentarily. It's likely they've taken out any bright glows or other light within or around the Wyer and will try to force us to fight them in darkness when the time comes. We won't want to do that. Perhaps we can manage to light the firepits? The added light they give off will work in our advantage and they'd serve a good distraction for another group to get the firestone." C'rci explained her mind a whirl with ideas as she tried to puzzle out the best way to aid her Weyr.
"In fact sending a group in first to try and light the firepits would make an excellent distraction. You can see the firepits from far away so they'd serve as a good signal for the second group to move and on top of it they might draw some of the handlers out and away from the second group giving them time to find and secure the firestone. We don't need firestone to light the firepits, just pitch torches that could be dropped from dragonback." Said C'rci reaching up to nudge the little crimson firelizard hiding in her hair.
Fasha. Keep an eye on the healer. C'rci urged as the crimson flit let out a grumble, but did just that peering from her rider's locks at the girl below ready to follow should the healer move.

"No!" Kleos exlaimed and then shook her head, looking between Z'fer and the weryling rider sharply. "No. We cannot flame blindly down the halls; we are as like to hit our own people as we are to hit the rogue handlers! Attcking blind is not an option now or ever. I agree we must regain the firestone stores, and lighting the pits could be an option. Very swift precice strikes by our smallest dragons could also serve to recover firestone; the speed of greens and the precision of blacks would serve us best." She wasn't even sure what this weyrling was doing here discussing things with Z'fer, but he hadn't objected so he must think something of her. If not for her young dragon Kleos would have assumed that she was his woman and he would face hell at home if he didn't let her in on things.

C'rci nodded seeing the other woman's point with a frown. "True, but we wouldn't have to flame them, just blind them with the flame or use it to run them out. Wher's are very substitutable to bright lights and loud noise. . ." C'rci trailed off her eyes going wide.
"The Thread Siren! It's loud enough! Any wher outside would probably be very confused and hurt by it and combine it with bright flashes of dragon fire and I'm sure you'd have some very disorientated whers!" C'rci gasped out her words spilling out as quickly as she could put the idea together.
