Ember walked out of the valley, to look out at into the shadows. It was night and he was waiting for Ariluna to come to him. They had been separated and their children scattered. They had been forsaken and they were apart from each other. He missed being with her, gently stroking her long thick braids. He missed being close to her.
Tonight, they were going to decide what to do. She had left to be with Gylden's herd and stay with them and he with Nite Owl's. Tonight, they would figure out what they wanted.
Fear clutched his heart as the though of the possibility that she wanted to end this.

Ariluna walked to the area her and Ember had decided to meet at. It had been so long since she had been with him; the seperation was agony. She went with Gylden's herd as a sign of respect since she was rescued by them. It was also to look after the other two kirins who were in her herd.
She respected her partner's wishes to do the same but surely the seperation would not do well for them. She bit her lip as she made her way to him; nervous of what the outcome of their conversation would be.
As she came upon the area she saw him, standing perfectly proud in the moonlight. "Love..." She breathed out, standing still as memories filled her mind.

Ember walked forward to greet here. Her lips looked like they were trembling as she spoke his name. His heart thudded oddly in his chest, he was afraid of what she was going to say but pride, foolish pride was winning. "So, I take it that you're staying with Gylden and hers?" His voice was flat.

Ariluna stepped closer to Ember she wanted to embrace him and feel his lips once more but was scared she'd make a foold of herself if he didn't want the same thing. There was an exalted female in the herd he was with. She wouldn't be suprised if he'd fallen in love with her.
Ariluna nodded, answering his question. "They rescused me and there are also two other kirin that I feel I have to look after." She paused before continuing, debating whether or not to ask her question. "Are you staying with your rescuers?"

Ember stepped closer to her. He could smell the scent of her hair, it was still the same. He shut his eyes and remembered their life before this...this hell. Rescued? No, condemned.
Their children were gone, all their hopes and dreams had left. And yet....here she stood asking him calmly whether or not he was staying. He bit by an angry retort. He let his voice ask softly, "Is that what you want?" His eyes could not meet hers.

Ariluna didn't answer straight away. Would it be selfish of her to ask him to be with her? Especially if he was happy where he was. She shook her head. Love would not let her say yes. "No. I want you with me."

Ember's eyes came up slowly. "Are you sure?" He didn't dare wait for an answer as he tilted her chin back lightly to meet her level gaze. "I was so afraid..."He let the words trail off as he kissed her passionately.

Ariluna couldn't help herself. The tears came rushing; a mixture of hapiness and sadness. She was happy that they were having this moment but was sad that they would soon part. She threw her arms around Ember and pulled him to her; returning his kiss eagerly. She parted her lips from his; having to catch her breath. "I missed you, my love."

Ember dried her tears, "I've missed you too. More than I can say...My heart's been breaking without you here with me. I feared..."He kissed her teared-streaked cheeks as he thought of what would be next. They would be together, but only for the night. Each would go to their own separate herds...separate. It was not right. Two souls such as he and her should not be separated. It wasn't right.
"Is there no way you can come with me? Not just for the night, but to my herd?"

Ariluna sniffled; her nose running. She shook her head. "I would and could not abandon them like that... And I wouldn't want you to do the same." She sighed; their time was short.

Ember sighed as his eyes wandered into the distance. "There has to be a way to fix this. A way we can be together..." He looked into her eyes with a deep emotion. "I can't be separated from you like this...We can't endure this forever!"

Ariluna nodded and closed her eyes, trying to hold back the tears. She threw her arms around Ember again and pressed her face to his chest, sobbing ever so quietly. She looked up at him, a hoof to his cheek to cup it and then brought his face close to hers so her lips could reach his.
