Ember kissed her gently, "It's okay darling. You can rest now." Throwing the sticks onto the pile, he built a fire slowly letting it burn for a good twenty minutes. Going to the stream, he fetched some water and threw it over the blaze.
The hiss and sizzle of the fire became louder then died away until there was nothing but embers. Kicking his hooves through the ashes, he sat down to let the visions come. At times, he knew everything in an almost overwhelming fashion when he touched the ashes and other times, he would have to wait.
His eyes became blank as the vision overtook him.

Ariluna kissed Ember back and as soon as her lips left his, her eyes were closed and she was breathing rhythmically as sleep overtook her.

Ember opened his eyes to watch her falling asleep. He had seen so much in his vision. Ariluna and he would raise their children and he could see hints of a special destiny. It would all begin in this spot. From the moment that two of the kids hooves touched ground things were going to change.

Ariluna stirred and opened her eyes, blinking at Ember. "Well? Do you know?"

Ember smiled as he kissed her gently. "It's here. This place....there's some special bond with our children. Some special destiny awaits them if they are born here. It's still indistinct on what it is or which of them it affects, but it will come only if they are born here."

*FLASHBACK* Ember could hear them coming. "Run Ariluna! Run!" He knew that if they caught them, this would be the end of it. Love would not matter, they would be parted forever and one or both of them would die.

Ariluna's eyes widened and she moved to Ember's side. "I will not leave you. They will have to accept us." She knew that this was probably the end; her parents would not listen to reason..

Ember stopped dead in his tracks. They were cornered, no way out. He looked to Ariluna. "Whatever happens, I'll find a way to be with you...in this life or the next."

"They will just have to listen to us. My father will not sacrifice me.." Ariluna bit down on her lip. At least, she hoped he wouldn't. This was a pretty big slap in his face. The two clans had been at war for generations. It'd been so long they'd forgotten what the fued had started over.

Ariluna moved herself in front of Ember as her father and five soliders came into view.
"Ariluna, are you okay?" He screamed as the soldiers moved in on Ember.
"No!" Ariluna shrieked. "Don't come near him! Father... I love Ember."
The soldiers stopped in their tracks and Ariluna's father's face boiled with rage.
"You betray your clan!? You dishonour me? I expected better of you, Ariluna. We are at war with this clan!"
"What is the reason you are fighting!? No one remembers anymore! If I can't be with him in this life then I will be with him in death. It's your choice, father. Either me or your silly war."

The leader of Ember's herd stepped out.
"So you've been co-horting with...her?"
Ember bowed. "Yes..."
"You know the punishment."
"I do." His eyes looked up at her. "I accept it."
"You're released. An outsider. Leave us." With a wave of his hoof, a chain mail mask descended on Ember's face.
Ember touched it nimbly, then let go as his former leader walked away.
Clutching Ariluna, he faced her father.

"Stop!" Ariluna cried out , breaking free from Ember's grip. "How can you banish him from your clan? He has shown courage, honour and dignity. Traits both you and my father lack! You both fight for reasons long forgotten and you would risk your family and friends for your own pride!" Ariluna's eyes narrowed. "I will follow Ember to the ends of the Earth. And, so. I release myself from my father's grip. I am no longer a part of his clan or any other."
