Reese huffed in annoyance as he waited for the nurse to fix up Jaxston. There was a pamphlet on the counter and out of boredom, he snatched it up to take a look. The Spookival? Wow, could you have a lamer name for an event? He rolled his eyes and browsed a little more; fun, game, food, prizes. The standard fanfare for something of this caliber; people probably dressed like Arceus only knew what and annoying youngsters screaming in fear over paper ghosts and s**t.

He was about to crumble the paper in his hands, gaze shifting around the center once more before he froze briefly. There were two other people in the center; the guy he’d run into when he went for his gym battle and some other hipster looking pleb. Except…
Reese frowned. That guy looked familiar. Something about him sent a jolt of pure agitation through his core, though he couldn’t quite place it. Did he know him? He felt… like knew him. Was he…. No… no it couldn’t have been. The world wasn’t that small. And yet the punk couldn’t shake the feeling.
”Here you go! You’re pokemon is all healed up!” Nurse Joy interrupted his thoughts and Reese shot her a dirty glare for it before looking to Jaxston. The Snivy looked rather refreshed and far more chipper than earlier, though he winced at the look from his trainer . "Thanks," Reese grunted, snatching Jaxston off the counter and marching away. He set the Snivy down (or rather dropped him) before turning his attention back to wear he’d seen the pair just in time to see the guy he’d been wondering about before disappear and the guy from the gym following soon after.
"Damnit!" He hissed. Where’d they go? He turned his attention back to the paper still in his hand. Reese squinted at it a long minute, Ginger materializing once more in curiosity. Suddenly he was approaching the still lingering Gastly, a look of set determination on his face. "Take me after those other guys you just sent off," he demanded, crushing the paper in his hands and chucking it over his shoulder. Jaxston gave Ginger a confused look and for once, the ghost pokemon seemed just as confused. The Gastly blinked and gave a waspy chuckle before teleporting the group just as demanded.

Doing it's best to take the blunt of the oncoming vine whip before slamming into the Pansage at full speed.

While Cilan didn't realize it at first, there was no way he could take on so many Pokemon. So when the fresh Dedenne came out and took Pansage's vine whip like a champ, it was clear that it was all over. Pansage was hit by the tackle, at it was all over then. Cilan sighed, but he was still smiling. "Get me the check, because I do believe we're done!" He gave a bow, and returned his Pokemon. "Congratulations, sir! You've defeated me. Allow me to present you with the Trio Badge!" He received a platter from a nearby table, and presented it to Kenjiro. Opening the lid revealed the coveted Trio badge, along with two other items. "You can also have these as well. And, for giving me such a fine battle, enjoy a meal here, on the house!"

Kenjiro carefully took the items, stuffing everything but the badge into his duffel bag. "Thanks for the battle, you were one tough cookie. " Kenjiro scooped up his persimmon partner and sat him on his shoulder. "Nice work. We're one step closer to... What exactly I guess we're still figuring out." He pat the mouse pokemon on his head.
~One Lunch Later~
After the meal Kenjiro sat spicking food out of his teeth. "I take it all back, that was amazing. You really know your stuff." Masura began to lick his mousey hands clean. "Make a note Masura, Straiton City cooking's one you can really sink your teeth into. He reached out for his partner, who promptly ran up it taking his usual perch. "Thanks for the grub, but I think I'll dine an... I'm still doing it." He rubbed his face as left. I wonder if Sabrina is this dramatic.
Heading back to the pokemon center he placed his pokeballs on the counter. He tuned out the nurse's usual song and dance when a envelope slid across the table and stopped in front of him. "You're Cordially Invited" it read. He retrieved his healed pokemon and retired to his room, the envelope hanging between his fingers. I only just beat a gym leader, what the heck could this be about? He opened the envelope and read its contents. Spookival huh?

While teleportation to the place wasn’t a problem, teleportation on top of prior serious poisoning was and Reese immediately felt the side effects that most other people tended to feel. Which sucked because he didn’t really have any lunch at that point to lose. The attendant certainly didn’t enjoy it and was immediately shuffling off to the nearest washroom to clean up while the Nurse Joy tried to assure that Reese wasn’t going to pass out in the process. Really, this just made him even more agitated than he was before, and the nurse was lucky that punching people trying to help him wasn’t something he did. Often anyways.
She did make some good points though. He was still caked in mud from earlier and given the sickness, was even in more of a mess. It would do him some good to go and clean up before he went any further. And the nurse wasn’t going to have it any other way. Reese didn’t feel like fighting her so instead, conceded; he took his bag from Ginger (who seemed to be on board with him taking a moment to take care of himself) and headed back to a spare washroom as well to clean up.

Showers were… alright. Reese wasn’t a slob or anything, but they weren’t exactly something he went out of his way to do unless he needed too. It was probably a good thing that he needed to do so this time, since it helped just slightly to temper his agitation. For the time being anyways. He managed to get the muck off himself and out his hair (for what gunk managed to get there), making note that the stab point on his neck was still rather tender to pressure. Maybe ten minutes later and he was clean, swapping into the spare change of clothing that he had on hand before spending a moment to scrub off whatever mud he could from his coat.
Ugh.
Reese tugged the damp but slightly cleaner coat on, doing his best to fluff the collar out before shoving the messed-up clothing into a plastic bag he’d found and then into his bag. He’d have to find a laundromat or some s**t later, which sucked. The last thing he’d intended to be doing on this journey was laundry.
Double ugh.
Partially storming out of the washroom and back to the front of the center, he found his team gathered in waiting. Ginger was distracting Quixote with what looked like shadow puppetry, while Jaxston watched on with the mushroom still clutched in his grip. The Snivy’s head snapped around though as their trainer reappeared, eyeing the young man in a bit of surprise at the change in clothing while the Gengar reformed next to him, grinning wildly at Reese.
"C’mon. We’re moving to the next town," the young man huffed, jerking his head back before turning an immediately heading for the door. The nurse wasn’t at her station and he didn’t see the carnival attendant so the sooner he took the opportunity to leave, the better. The pokemon blinked and looked at one another, save for Quixote who seemed absolutely on board with leaving as he gave a loud cheer and toddled after his trainer out the exit.

The walk to Striation was rather pleasant and mostly uneventful. Mostly. At least for Nick. As for Viktoria, however... She hadn't ever strayed very far from her trainer, but her nose was picking up on something she swore she first caught scent of around the pokemon center ever since they had returned from that winter ball. It was like a presence that had been lurking about, and she only became more aware of it as they were out on their walk. The snowy fox kept looking over to her trainer as if to see if he had noticed anything strange, but he seemed just as cheerful as always, striking up a conversation with Leona, explaining some of the things about gym leaders and the cities up ahead.
Viktoria's ears perked and she turned her head as she swore she heard something like a whisper right behind her - coming nose to nose with a snowy face. "kyuuuu~" it mewled, fading in and out of view. It caused the fox's fur to puff out, but she didn't scamper away behind Nick, tilting her head. It seemed this odd ghost cat was struggling, but sticking close to her cool body. A fellow ice type? It was definitely warmer here than she was used to, so she could see why the other might be struggling. "Hello there! Would you like .... some chill?" she asked, stopping for a moment to recall something she's heard her trainer say before, referring to her snow warning ability. The other entity hardly had a chance to say anything before a light snow fall started to happen around her, causing a pocket of cold. The flurry slowly came into view more strongly, snow clinging to it's fur as it regained some strength. "Snowyyy" it replied in content, floating alongside Viktoria. The vulpix's chest swelled a bit with pride in her skills, but also in the fact that she had made a new friend, it seemed. And, of course, she was now relieved that that presence she had sensed wasn't a bad one. If the Flurry had seemed to have ill intent, this would have turned out way differently.
They were nearly into Striation when Viktoria managed to attract yet another ice type. This time, it actually flew into her side, causing her to yipe a bit in surprise as she tumbled with the 'assailant'. It was a round .... bird thing. She was the first back up on her feet, pressing her front paws down on the snowy owl to pin him down. "What was that for?" she barked, ears tilted back. Do birds sweat? This one seemed nervous enough to start. His feathers puffed up as he opened his beak to reply. "Er... N-nothing... I'm.... actually not that great at flying... Apologies." he admitted sheepishly. Viktoria stared him down for a bit before finally letting him get up, moving to catch back up with Nick. "Then perhaps you should try walking? Anyway, it didn't hurt any, and if you have no where else to go, you could join me. You seem like a pokemon Nikolaus would like to see~" She said, and the rowlet hopped along to follow, having nothing else to say. With two new icy friends in tow, the alolan vulpix caught up with Nick and Leona, still trotting along with snow falling around her.

The moment they arrived in Striation, Trey headed for the pokecenter. He was so intent on just going in, and immediately laying down, he didn't even notice something JR picked up on right away. "Um." He didn't bother turning around at the man's voice, either, at least not right away. "You did notice that you brought another poison bird with you, right?" That immediately brought him to a halt. He turned, very slowly, and looked back, to see JR standing, staring at him with raised eyebrows, and glancing down at the small peafoul.... standing right beside him. The bird was gazing back through half open eyes, looking relaxed, thankfully, and not nearly as aggressive as it's sister had been. Nevertheless... it was there. It had followed them. Trey wasn't exactly sure how to handle this.... He hadn't expected to have it follow. In fact, he'd sort of forgotten it existed....
Fantastic. This was going to put off him getting to sleep by a bit, too....
"Better figure this out." Trey shifted his gaze from the pokemon to JR, frowning as the man started walking, once he was sure the pokemon beside him wasn't going to be throwing any poison feathers. "We need to get moving again, so I can resume those battles. After all, they're on the way to me getting my job done, and only then can we get back to your contests...." The irish teen's expression quickly turned nasty as he gritted his teeth and glared back at JR, even as he passed to head for the pokecenter. He'd sort of forgotten about that.... but that taunting tone certainly brought it back, full force.

Trey stared at the bird, and it stared back at him for a long moment, before he reached back. At first, he was going to grab the pokeball carrying its sister, perhaps release it, let them both go, but after a moment's hesitation, he reconsidered. After all... she might just attack him again or something. Not to mention, these were rare pokemon.... even if he didn't have, essentially, a poacher traveling with him, it wouldn't hurt to have another, at least until he had properly assessed what their best contest potentials were....
Moving smoothly, but not hurriedly, so as not to spook or even coerce the pokemon, he tossed the empty pokeball at the peafoul. It simply stared at him, even as the pokeball bounced off its head, popped open.... and promptly caught it inside.

Leona narrowed her eyes with scrutiny as Nick swore he'd never drink as he had in her company the other night, her steely blue eyes seeming to weigh and measure his promise before sitting upright with approval. "Verily. I accept thine oath." She cleared her throat and relaxed her posture. "However, I beseech you, do not feel that you can never drink in my company. T'was not the drink, nor your enjoyment of it, that earned such ire. There is simply a time and a place for such things; the ball was not thus." Leona shook her head, a small smile of exasperation on her lips.
With that matter resolved, Leona felt a bit better about going forward. She didn't want to lose Nick as a guide and potential ally, but lines needed to be drawn, and expectations set going forward. "Striation? I am not familiar with this town. The size of my liege's kingdom continues to baffle me." She murmured in awe, standing to follow Nick out of the pokemon center and down the road into Striation. As they stood, Isolde reluctantly released Viktoria so she could walk. A princess such as she should not dirty her paws... Isolde thought with a frown, though she didn't voice her complaints.
"This place is quite lovely. Hast thou traveled here before?" Leona asked curiously. "What does one do?" She hadn't really had the chance to travel for pleasure before, so she may as well enjoy it while she had the oppertunity.

Nick was visibly relieved as Leona accepted his oath. She went on to assure him that drinking was okay, just not in a place like the ball. So, essentially what Mallory has continuously told him. No public drinking, especially at events. The author gave a nod to show he understood. With that addressed, they were finally able to move on.
After hitting the road, Leona asked about their destination, commenting on ho lovely the place was. "Hmmm.... vell, there vas this cafe in Striation that I vould visit on my vay through. Ja, I believe it vas also a gym. Gyms are like..... challenges to be completed for a badge. Does that make sense?" he explained while leading the way.
Apparently, Viktoria had made some new friends of her own, following along on Nick's heels with an odd looking rowlet as well as a soft snowy Flurry.
