Sailor Grieve of Grieve

Hearing Daphne's wish, another person wanting something long gone and without as much hope for a second chance as her own, Grieve scowled a little. Plunking her yellow star into the glow, she scowled even further. Looking at the vaguely cat-like senshi, she gnashed her teeth. Then huffed. Then fidgeted. All during this process she looked like she was on the edge of some horrible bought of yelling or violence.

And finally, she exploded.

Well, kinda.

Awkwardly approaching Daphne, she bent down a little and said quietly, "On Cybele, I saw a knight there that I knew back in the past. He'd been a civilian on Cybele, but was reborn on Earth in that ******** city." Clearing her throat she grimaced, "If he was reborn there, maybe some of your family was too. Won't be the same. But it's not ******** nothin', right?"

The sphere closes on its own and re-activates with the power of your wishes.

The stars on the sphere begin to shine. The fog clears and so does the feeling of Chaos. You can now leave the room.

The astronomical clock room is now fully revealed. You can see that it has shelves along the walls and small alcoves. These shelves and alcoves hold astronomical clocks, astrolabes and orreries. You even see a small area for guests to stay.

You can now go back to the main room:

Cynthus, Squire of the Moon

“Bummer.”

Cynthus looked around. She should probably be happy that their wishes had done what they were supposed to, but mostly she was disappointed. If magic existed, why couldn’t it make their wishes come true? What was the point of wishing at all?

“Where’s my money?” she asked for all to hear. “You can’t just take my wish and not give me anything. That’s rude.”

The room probably seemed really cool and interesting to some people (aka nerds). To Cynthus it was just a room. Nothing in particular caught her eye (except, of course, for the absence of the piles of cash she’d asked for).

Cynthus turned back to her friends, eyes rolling when she noticed Ephesus and Amarynthos kissing. She supposed it was sweet, but also: ew. What was there to kiss over anyway? They were stuck here until the Chaos was gone, weren’t they? There wasn’t any time for kissing!

“You want us to clear out and give y’all the room?” she joked. “So you can suck face in peace? I don’t know if Grumpy McGrumpy Face and Mr. Fancy Pants’ll like that. They might think the Chaos’ll take you out while you’re distracted. They’re, like, right there. Unless they’re being gross too.”

She turned to make sure. Thankfully Sessrumnir and Alastor hadn’t gotten distracted with kissing.

Yet.

Cynthus grimaced.

“Let’s get going,” she concluded. “We’ve got things to do, places to be, a** to kick. If I don’t get home in a few hours my dad’s probably gonna freak.”

Dads were such a pain. Cynthus had no idea how Ephesus and Amarynthos both tolerated having two of them!

-

Rose, Page of Lysithea

Rose admired her fallen star for a moment, stealing peaks at the rest around her. They were all so pretty! She almost regretted having to put it back. She cradled it in her hands a few seconds longer than she probably needed to, then inevitably returned it.

The room came into view. Rose turned on the spot and stared around. She thought it might be nice to take a closer look at everything, but would feel too guilty taking up the time to do so. She could sense the restlessness in some of the others. Even if her war experiences had been limited so far, she knew some of the others had been through a lot, that they knew Chaos in a way she didn’t. They were in danger here even when it didn’t seem like it.

Politely, she looked away when Ephesus and Amarynthos shared a kiss, but she couldn’t suppress a smile. She had less success controlling her quiet laughter over Cynthus’ complaining. Rose turned to catch Reims’ eye, expecting scowling and scoffing and a roll of his eyes.

“I think the door’s unsealed,” she said.

With the fog cleared, she expected their way would be unimpeded, just like that last room. So far Chaos didn’t seem to be putting up much of a fight. Rose knew better than to assume the rest of their time here would be this easy, but she felt much better about it than she had when they arrived. Maybe Chaos found their numbers too overwhelming.

As long as they stuck together, Rose was sure they’d succeed.

-

Yvoire, Squire of Ganymede

Yvoire knew his wish would not come true. He knew it wasn’t possible, that magic could do so many wondrous things, but that it couldn’t change the past, couldn’t give Daddy back.

It still hurt to see his fallen star glow, to stare into the pale pink light, then look up and see that Daddy wasn’t there.

Yvoire swallowed, throat so tight it hurt to do so. He blinked against the wet sheen over his eyes, then hastily put his fallen star back. He wanted it out of his hands. He wanted it gone, didn’t want to see it, or think about what he’d whispered to it, didn’t want to consider the futility of it all.

He was so stupid. He shouldn’t have tried in the first place. Daddy was dead. His starseed could have been destroyed. There was nothing Yvoire could do but live with that.

Yvoire sniffed once and wiped at his eyes with his sleeve. He turned away from Ephesus and Amarynthos before jealousy could twist through his gut again. He ignored Cynthus’ teasing and kept his eyes averted from Reims and Rose.

He shifted closer to Dering, who was quiet and unlikely to pry, who would probably judge Yvoire least out of all of them. Yvoire swallowed again. He wanted to say something friendly and supportive, but he couldn’t find the words, simply stood there gripping his parasol. He felt weak and out of place, and sad. So sad.

Most of all, he hated himself for that shred of hope. He’d known all along that wishing was pointless.

Reims, Squire of Ganymede

The star glowed in his hand. It was the same color as his eyes. He supposed a lot of people were comforted by something so familiar, something that was uniquely them.

For him, it pulled a sense of dread from his heart. He turned his hand over so he couldn’t see the shining light, and as soon as the sphere told them to put the stars back, he did so without another glance.

His eyes were part of the reason why he’d wanted an escape from his life, whatever that might have been. Becoming a knight was certainly the better alternative than what he could have thought of before.

There were others around him who were in various states of distress or elation. He made a face and rolled his eyes when Rose caught his eye. He was grateful that the door was unsealed at least. Hopefully they would be able to beat up some Chaos in the next place.

Hopefully he’d be able to see his friends without such sad expressions soon.

Antisana, Squire of Pluto

He rumbled his wish, and though nothing felt different, the little star-shaped orb in his palms began to shine a color not so different than his own hair. It wasn't incorrect to call it a 'pretty purple,' and it at least made Antisana feel as though he'd been heard.

If not much else.

A glance around the room told him that any others who had stepped up to take a star had also made theirs glow. Each shimmered in a different color. A whole glimmering rainbow that added a certain flair to the otherwise dimly lit room. But as far as he could tell... that was it. There was no world peace, no eradication of Chaos, this world was still plagued... Nothing had changed, no matter how many people wished for it.

He returned the fallen star to the large central orb as the others did, and prepared to move on.
