Forums and Guilds glitches - on and after Sat 28th - Updates

I am aware that users are reporting problems with public Forums and Guilds Forums.
Problems I know about:

• Replies on a thread page show up in the wrong order (they aren't chronological)
  should be fixed as of Nov 30th 3:40pm
  
• any more?

Please refresh the pages you've been having problems with. If you continue to have problems, please reply to this thread with a very descriptive. If this is happening with a guild, please post the URL to a page that shows the problem.

I will delete posts that don't describe the symptoms sufficiently -- please be descriptive about what is wrong and how I can view the problem/error.

Edit: for Guild posts, please use the URL on the little icon next to the Timestamp of the post (the link to the left of "PostPosted: Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:59 pm" wink .

I'm pretty sure we've encountered a temporary problem caused by a database outage 3 days ago (the morning of the 28th).
Forum post sorting appears fixed. (this should have fixed the "My Posts" and "My Subscriptions" pages too).

New Guilds replies that are supposed to create a new page do not appear to be doing so (if there are 15 posts on page 1 and you create the 16th reply, your post should create page #2). I'm working on tracking down the problem code then I'll work on fixing page numbers (which will restore all of the replies you can't see now).

PLEASE DO NOT CLICK THE "delete this topic" link...
it doesn't make any sense to me that the link is there are we are removing it.

I was able to find the place where Guilds are sorted. The site won't be patched until I can get some Devs to review the patch (in the morning).

AFAIK, the last major bug is the problem where certain Guilds threads (created between around Sept. 28 and Nov. 28th) don't create new pages. I'm still troubleshooting this at the moment.

Pushing out a patch now to fix Guild thread post ordering. Please keep updating this thread if you continue to experience Guild-related issues from now on.

My script appears to fix glitched threads. Please post the URL (or thread IDs) to glitched guild threads (public or private doesn't matter). I'll get them all fixed in the next few days.
Threads restored: all links up to the end of the 3rd page ... more to come soon

You may PM me glitched guild thread URLs only if your are brief. The PM should be simple like this:

I'm tired of typing. My fingers are falling off from all of the copy-pasting involved in fixing threads. Every thread that was correctly linked in this thread was fixed.

I'll be lazily fixing all other glitched threads in all guilds as I find them.

I've noticed that forums do seem to be straightened out, thank you. Guilds are still messed up, though. I could give you the link to a few threads, but unfortunately it's a private guild.

If you can't access it, I'll try to find an example in a public guild.

Sunday's post is at the top, above the Thurs-Friday posts, and there's an odd database error when you try to go to page 2.

Here's an example from a guild, though it is private so I'm not sure if you will be able to see it but as a mod you might. The two posts from Sunday and Monday are at the top, posts from the 20th to the 27th (Friday) are beneath them.

FYI: Devs can see any part of the site that a user can see (including private Guilds).

zOMG Elite thread

my thread on zOMG Elite's being buggy too. everytime i post a new reply on the forums, they appear on the top of the page, where they SHOULDN'T be.

if you notice, the post on top is marked December 1, or November 30, depending on your timezone. and the post AFTER is is marked November 25 or November 24, depending on timezone.

It seems to me that posts made DURING the time of problem [ in guilds ] are still acting up right now. All the other posts have been fixed accordingly though.
Examples: [o1] // [o2] // [o3]
They are still in random parts of the threads it seems.

And also, there seem to be problems with second pages of guilds made during the time of the problem. I made two posts during the problem in one of my threads that should've appeared on the second page, but instead of being there, the page itself can not be accessed and instead, a Database Error page appears.

My guild posts are still out of order and I refreshed the page a few times. I made a test thread for it as well but that one has yet to mess up.

I'm still having a weird issue that started during the bug.

I'm currently in a private roleplay with another user (Shukketsuseinohito)

As I'm a roleplayer in this roleplay, I naturally have the roleplay listed in my thread subscriptions.
This is how the roleplay appears in my subscriptions:


(notice the fact that it says the most recent post was that of Shukketsuseinohito, also notice the number of replies is listed at 10)

When the glitch started, my post got moved to the top of the page, and one of her posts (the one before that post in the roleplay) disappeared altogether. So I told her we'd replicate the missing post after the glitch was fixed, fine.

By the time we had discussed the missing post issue and the glitch, she'd already replied to the post I had made that had been moved to the top of the page [the one that is now on the bottom]. However, Shukketsuseinohito's reply to my post [which would be the post my thread subscriptions says is there] never appeared on the thread. It wasn't a page ending post so it didn't go into next-page oblivion, none of the posts could have since there were only (supposedly) eleven posts on the page in total (counting the first, thread-starting post).

Now we have two posts that have completely disappeared and no clue as to what happened, since I couldn't find anyone having had a similar experience during this glitch.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. I'd just like to know what happened with the posts and why it randomly disappeared for no reason that made sense to the glitch.

EDIT: We're just gonna delete the last post and replace the missing post plus the other one, so this is no longer valid.

Guild posts are still out of order for three threads in our guild

The first thread has several recent posts nested above the older posts. The second thread is out of order, as it goes from 11 AM to 3 PM to 12 AM, all on Saturday. The third thread, thankfully, only has a single post at the top from Saturday above some from Friday, but page 325 shows up as a Database Error.

I'm sure a few posts were gone in the first thread due to this bug. I'm not sure if anything is missing in the second thread, but it's way out of order. The third thread is missing two posts for sure.

It's fine if the posts aren't recovered, as they're backed up on another thread, but we'd really appreciate it if the bug itself was fixed so this no longer happens.

We've locked the threads so nothing past Saturday/Sunday was posted. I posted a test post in the first thread, and instead of being on page 90, under a post for Sunday, 1:11 Pm, it was lodged between 2 posts on Sunday at 12:55 Pm and Friday at 8:07 PM

This is for my Guild. The post continue to be placed above other post. The first two post on that page were posted after the last few post. And the third post was just recently posted to check if the issue was still there.

There are several problems that this thread is continuing to have...

• The thread is said to have been posted in as recently as Mon Nov 30, 2009 4:45 pm. However, the last post of page 46 was posted on Nov 28, 2009 12:54 am. (The last poster was said to be Shuichi-taru, however the last visible one is from myself, Nileregwen DoUrden) Also, I am in CST so the times are CST. The posting time of this report is Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:09 pm.
  
• The thread shows that there is a page 47, however when that page number is clicked on, the link comes up with the following error: Database Error - Could not locate any posts that matched the topic ID and page specified. - Click here to delete this topic This was struck out because I posted a test post in the thread just now (Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:12 pm.) and it was the first post on page 47. However, posts do seem to have been lost, including those mentioned in the next bullet.
  
• When you click on Reply, there are two posts that show up after the last viewable post (stated above). EDIT: As of Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:12 pm, those are the last viewable posts in reply-mode. The test post that I spoke of above, does not show up after hitting Reply.
  
• If you read the contents of the page, you can see posts at the top of the page that were clearly posted after the glitch began. This can be noticed because the final post on the page was before the glitch, and the first few posts on the page refer to the glitch itself.
  

All in all, the posts are completely out of order, the last two viewable posts are viewable only in reply-mode (and neither are by the last person that the thread says, via the forum in the Guild, has posted), posts that were posted after the gltich was "fixed" are not showing up in reply mode (and thus the last two posts mentioned before are the oldest posts viewable with a timestamp of Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:20 am), and the posts that are posted are apparently still putting themselves out of proper order.

I hope that was detailed...
