Was there anything specific you had in mind about the tests for the princes of Stonewynne? Like...was it an "older brother gets priority" thing or more competitive in nature?
And um...did you have a general idea of how big the gap between Stonewynne and the other kingdoms was in technology?

It's pretty much incredibly in-depth testing from a whole council of the best scholars on knowledge in general (history, sciences, philosophy, strategy and warfare, etc) and probably some practical skills tests too (reading, writing, proving capable of coming up with sound strategies).
To be considered a "success" likely has a very, very high threshold that very few people can meet, so it's generally competitive.
Not a massive gap, they're not toting electricity or anything. But they've probably got sleeker, smarter weapons and modes of transportation, maybe very basic firearms. They likely have some basic sciences, so have breed faster horses, sturdier livestock. Smarter modes of farming, fishing, hunting. Etc. You're welcome to think up things yourself, as long as they fall into that general frame.
