Nameless Wonder: 58
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Just wait,
Though wide he may roam,
Always,
A hero comes home…

Faren shifted a little, trying to get that song out of her head, before she sat up. Running a hand through her hair, she reached for her cigarettes. Zenon’s arm tightened around her waist. She was going to tell him to let go, and she would give him one too, but she remembered that he always had a pack of his on hand. She knew for a fact that he couldn’t stand her brand of cigarettes.

Well, to each his own. She picked up her pack, setting one in her mouth before reaching across him for his lighter. He smirked, pulling her unlit cigarette out of her mouth and kissing her. Faren almost grinned.

He goes,
Where no one will go,
But, always,
A hero comes home…

Zenon’s lighter fell out of her shaking head as she pulled back away from him. He blinked, looking at her in shock. “Faren-chan,” He asked, staring into her eyes, as they rolled back into her head.

Just wait,
Though wide he may roam,
Always,
A hero comes home…
He knows
Of places unknown
But always,
A hero comes home…
Someday,
They’ll carve in stone
“A hero comes home…”

Faren held her head, trying to come out of this trance she had gotten herself into. And yet, she seemed to be pulled deeper into it, she felt almost like she had when she had tried to do the past life work. She felt something be pulled out of her, Zenon’s begging her to stay alive and with him fading as she returned to…that time…

“…why didn’t I know better?” Fah-Ree sat in front of her friend, watching General Jaylen working on her reports, “I mean, he comes in, we fight, we ********, and he leaves.”

“It might have something to do with the fact that the two of you fight after you ********.” Jaylen looked up with an amused little smirk. Fah-Ree sighed, shaking her head. “Anyway,” The dark-haired girl added, “Every couple has its problems.”

“We’re not even really a couple anymore.” Fah-Ree pointed out, running a hand through her hair.

“Then why do you keep letting him in?” Jaylen was working on her papers again, “After all, you don’t seem to be able to stand him.”

“I don’t
let him do anything. Konzen always just…ends up getting what he wants one way or another.”

“Unless, by some strange coincidence, he proposes. Then you run away like a scared rabbit.”

“Come on, Jaylen, don’t start. I didn’t come here to bug you about Kenren, so don’t start on the whole marriage thing.”

The dark-haired general nodded quietly. Fah-Ree shook her head. “Anyway…I hear your father’s coming to see us. You must be excited. You haven’t seen him in a while.”

“I didn’t want to see him last century, and I certainly don’t want to see him now.” Her voice had become cold, Fah-Ree winced a minute. “I’m just glad that Loki is coming with him. Shii-Ra has lacked playmates of late, and her father seems to be the only one who seems to understand how her mind works.”

“Well, it’s a good thing someone does. I almost blew her up…” Jaylen gave her a strong glare. Fah-Ree held up her hands. “She interrupted one of my potions. I cannot be held responsible to what happens to anyone when that happens.”

“That’s true…” The general muttered, before she sighed, “…still helping Zenon with his little deception?”

“Is it that obvious?”

“Not to the people who don’t know it. You forget, I am acquainted with the new War-Prince and all of his subordinates. I just wish that Shii-Ra did not insist upon coming with me…Shien looks at her in a way that makes me worry.”

The blonde goddess snorted. “Let her father worry about her,
you worry about the stupid Norsemen that keep coming with your father every time he visits.”

“Of course,” Jaylen blinked, hearing a knock on the door. “Enter,” She called softly. The door swung open and Kenren hauled both Shii-Ra and Son Goku inside.

Jaylen stood, though Fah-Ree just turned around in her chair, arching an eyebrow. Kenren looked, oddly, a little proud of the troublemaking pair. Jaylen was not amused.

Her friend, if no one else did, knew why. Her position as a general was dictated by the Jade Emperor’s fancy. If his fancy shifted, Jaylen could find herself back in his harem…and the little mischief goddess could find herself in the same position.

That was not something her big sister wanted. “Shii-Ra, what have you two been doing?” Jaylen looked over the white-haired goddess, who was covered in mud.

“Trying to get Nataku out of his house. We fell, and then we ended up getting all muddy. The guards came after us, there was a huge fight, Kenren stepped in and, well, here we are.” Shii-Ra flashed a winning smile, “Do I get something to eat now? I’m starving. Goku, too.”

“No, you get a bath. Both of you,” Jaylen’s eyes shifted to Goku, “I am not sending Konzen’s ward back to him in this state.”

Shii-Ra sighed, and then shrugged. “Come on, Goku. She said we have to take a bath.” She took Goku’s hand, before gently tugging him out the door to show him where the baths were.

“Go with them,” The dark-haired general waved her hand at Kenren as if he were not her equal, but one of her subordinates. “Make sure they stay on their own sides.”

Well, Kenren was having none of that. He just stood there, looking at something that seemed suddenly fascinating on the wall off to his left. Jaylen turned on him, her hands on her hips.

“What are you still doing here?” She asked, glaring at him.

He sighed, shaking his head before he looked back at her, patting her cheek. “Don’t do that so often. You’ll give your pretty face premature wrinkles.” He turned and walked out.

Fah-Ree burst out laughing, shaking her head. “He’s a keeper.”

Jaylen looked at Fah-Ree with a withering glare. Fah-Ree just shook her head with a small smile, standing up as she smoothed her gown a moment. “Well, I have to go back to work. Have fun.” She walked out with a small wave…

…right into Konzen. The blonde god looked at down at her, and his usually dark expression did not brighten so much as soften a little. The goddess felt something inside of her shiver, before she stepped around him. She had s**t to do, after all.

He barely seemed to notice; he hardly did anymore. After he got what he wanted, he didn’t care so much anymore. It wasn’t as if she cared that he didn’t care, it was…ugh, it was just too much to deal with.

Fah-Ree stepped into her shack, drawing out ingredients as she started a new spell, a new something to keep her busy as the Norse gods arrived.

Ooh, and more of the plot slowly oozes~~ Norse Gods? I'm rather confused about that, but if I ever catch you online, I'll ask you about it.

^__^ I'm quite happy with all of the background stuff that comes with these 'flash back' chapters. Are each of your characters--the fanta-bulous four--observers again? That would be cool.
