It depends on the system that would be used. However, there's little reason for zOMG to become 3D (this thread is about how the areas are already made - a lot of people mistake a 2D interface to mean the world is just drawn out by hand or something, when instead it is often modeled in 3D), since that would just make things needlessly more complex for users, while negating lots of hard work in bug fixes and beta testing (for nothing but an extra D in the description).

Can we still get to choose between 2d and 3d?
I probably won't lag once I switch back to my faster internet but I'm so used to the 2d graphics I don't know if I could get used to the 3d ones. I get lost on zomg really easily, no I'm not a newb I'm a cl 10 xD

The null looks cool though~
zomg reminds me a lot about fiesta...

The game is already in 3d from what I have gathered. It's a very good show of how an old method for making video games can be reused in a way that is new. Though as a minor correction to the statement that most textures are photos is not entirely correct. For example the paint method is common for many studios including Lionhead and SquareEnix formally known as Square Soft. But other than that very enlightening.....
