Current situation with zOMG!

Reflecting on this...I realize, we may have had this all wrong. Or at least I saw it that way.

It doesn't matter zOMG! won't be updated frequently. Gaia has complete control over the game. They can own the game and still...all they'll own is...a game.

zOMG! is not what's important. Sure it is a fun game. Sure it brings out creative ideas in multiple levels.

This community of people is actually all I care about. Generally, games with leveling up, grinding for levels and repetitive kill quests get boring for me. Yet there was a reason to continue in this game. There was the feeling that i was actually part of a community, interacting with others while playing a game. You can see for yourself, most people that complained was only because a quest was too hard, or a glitch blocked them off (Typical Gameplay problems). There were a few poor crews here and there but that was an easy issue to resolve with threads being made designed to help them out.

I have tried other MMOs but I end up feeling alone there. Even if there are guilds and other people running around, there's no needed interaction. This game made the most of it for me. Yet even after returning to zOMG! after a while, I didn't return for the game (I haven't even gone in DMS yet). I've only returned to the Forums so far, making posts here and there.

zOMG! is a fun game. A really fun game. I mean a really addicting, spend-5-hours-delaying-homework type of game. But I only kept going through it to catch up and have something to talk about with others. I only survived wave after wave of rage when gold was decreased, or Kamila's curse rings were being given out because other people still stuck to the game despite that. I wasn't sad I got to miss the first 4 months DMS had come out. I was sad because I didn't know when I would be able to play again with friends on here. I'd have to catch up again to have something to talk about.

The true charm of the game was the fact, that every other player out there, had their own story and were actual people to interact with and not just some NPC. But also the forum board was a time to take a break from the game and still keep in touch.

I believe we can do the same for any other game Gaia decides to make. [ JK ] cares for this community, so why not show support by bringing it over to the new game. There won't EVER be a game like zOMG! was. They could even make a zOMG! 2 but nothing will amount to these fun times we've had and the adventures to face. So instead of denying whatever new game is being made, we could help out by at least being there for [ JK ] as well (and other developers-I'm sorry I don't know who else is going too)

Of course, maybe we don't want zOMG! to completely end since it is our exit to those good times, so I'm not saying we should forget about it. But we could also accept the new game as a little brother or something. We should give it a chance. Chances are, there will be a forum. You bet there will. We could continue on our adventures through there. Kinda like a Solo Quest area for zOMG! We could pretend it to be that way. And still, we'd have the essence of what zOMG! truly was- A community of people working together on a quest.

And hey, there's 2 ways to it:

- Either the game itself it unsuccessful and thus zOMG! developers come back
or
- The game is very successful and thus may free up time for zOMG! developers

I don't know much about game making and maintenance to be sure of the 2nd one but somewhere in my mind's logic it made sense...

In the end...all I want...is you guys...

So, I have just one question: does this mean we can expect never to see any updates to open DMS to the public, to cycle events like Easter and Halloween on and off the servers, and just in general not see any fixes unless they are major game-breaking errors?

I'm not saying those things can't happen, but I just want to be clear on the fact that the chance for maintenance is low.

My cynical side begs for release: we won't see any more Devs working on zOMG until another long exploited "glitch" is fixed and the players who remained loyal to the game are once again slapped in the face with labels such as "abuser."

After spending hundreds of hours and a hundred bucks on power-ups, etc. for DMS, I quit playing because I don't have an Integrity Ring. I was turned away from one crew because I didn't have one. Once was enough for me.

It would be nice if those of us who don't have the Integrity Ring would be able to get one somehow...

Sorry to hear that Becky. That's really sad, since you're clearly one of the best zOMG player :/

And yes, It would be nice.. as a good gesture, to make the integrity ring available to everyone (since zOMG production has ceased). I'll discuss this with swarf. Hopefully it's the least we can do.

Honestly I support this idea. But not as a drop. Perhaps make a recipe that requires an abuse ( Or two ) plus other various zOMG loot to create an integrity ring. That way those of us who earned it can know it, and still have a chance for more in the future. ( I've always wanted a second integrity x3 )

This is pretty ironic considering I "earned" my ring by being absolutely inactive xD I can see what you're trying to do, but I do think that the majority of people with "Integrity" got the ring because they weren't active at all. We've jokingly called the ring "Inactivity" at more than one reason, since a lot of the people that got integrity around me (Lux, Josh ect included) that we would have totally tried to get at least one of those high level rings (just for fun) if we would've known about it and been active.

i demand the original abuse ring (before it was made a drop) goes back to that name and kam's curse stays the current drop ring scream

I got my ORIGINAL "integrity" ring when they were given out (like the SH ring/Blood Amulet in the CS: items which were announced as a 1 time opportunity).

I am an active zOMG player and although I heard people were "vigorously" trying to raise their level by "abusing" a glitch in the game, it was something I knowingly avoided for the better part of a year. Not by becoming inactive, but by finding other places to play and by working towards my badges instead.

A Kamila's curse ring should continue to be a ring dropped by Kamila during a Kam run.

I also "jokingly" refer to the integrity ring as my "infinity ring", but I do wear it proudly, emotion_kirakira and YES, it was nice of the developers to recognize/notice us in this way.

I gotta say, this is a bit of a bummer. i was really hoping they'd let you guys stay on long enough to create a second way to get dark orbs...

But I will remember having a blast during events and the runs I did with friends, and hope to hear about more fun stuff in the future.

Who knows, maybe you guys will get a 'new game plus" feature that'll let folks play a harder version of the game with the same high level rings.

What i want to know is what fail inspired game has [ JK ] be sent to work on now? I'm really upset by this but i am not surprised by his unfortunate reassignment.I am kinda crushed that we did not get cure back, new shadow orb doubler , and DMS buddies , all of which would have generated some nice revenue. Too bad i do not have much access to the internet otherwise i could make power-up sells go up a bit .

Even thugh I haven't had a lot of time to play, I really like zomg, and I'm sad to see Gaia is no longer going to update the game. I just hope they don't delete it entirely before summer, when I'll have time to play more.

Oh, thank God... From all the raging and hype I saw about zOMG! lately, I thought Gaia was going to remove it completely, like Frontier Skies. zOMG! has gone long periods of time before with no updates, so I don't see what the all fuss is about... I'm 100% certain they'll work on zOMG! again in the future.
As long as it's still available to play, I'm happy.

Well said but it would be nice if they left a little going away present,like opening dms to everyone like they did with BB before it was ever complete...and no new content.
*Was one of those that bought the ticket after being told we would get first crack at the new content* psh,never happend because they abandoned it and went to work on dms for more money emotion_facepalm those with the ticket got nothing in return but gold beach with high cl anchors,dunes and a landy that people can't spawn without a dev jumping in to force it to spawn.
Those that invested in the ticket to support Zomg got nothing out of it neutral

Anyway's,sorry to go off on a rant like that.

Before I was all ******** the new game but after reading your post I have a better understanding and I will give it a couple hours of gameplay before I decide to never touch it.
[JK] has done alot for the Zomg community,least we could all do is try the new game he is working on and show him support. heart
