Lol really? I've seen avatars like that before that have stayed like that for weeks. That's still the users. The artist may create the pose, but in the end it's the users who play with them, so to speak.

And nope, I'm not. I'm just being honest, that's no way excessive gore or violence. In fact Walking Dead or maybe some of the Ravenwood Manor poses can take that title. I think it's Ravenwood Manor? Hell even Pink Dahlia says a young girl got murdered. And what's one of the poses? A cut up smile for your avatar.

As for everything here on gaia , you only get punished if you get reported.

I'm not saying you are not honest. I'm saying your definition of what's excessive is abnormal.

It's VERY excessive. You are alone in this thread with this opinion so your PERSONAL opinion cannot be taken as fact. As fact we can take global guidelines on violence depiction rattings.

I don't think the global guidelines would see this as excessive either. o-o

Although it wouldn't really matter, seeing as Gaia doesn't go by it.

Considering one of the sponsorships Gaia had was the Walking Dead and it featured lots of gorey items... I doubt Gaia will be in trouble.

The exact lines of PG-13 is partly defined by law and partly how people see it. Where one country is fine with naked breasts, another one isn't. Where one is fine with organs spilling out of a body, another one isn't. The term is broad, all of it can fall under PG-13. In the end it's up to Gaia to decide what exactly is accepted and what is not because it's their website.

If there are instances who do not agree with this, say companies who want to sponsor Gaia, trust me they will let Gaia know. If it's the government that does not agree then Gaia will REALLY know.

From what I've seen, most seem fine with blood and hacked off limbs and less with nudity. In fact Gaians have asked for more, especially around Halloween time where they want to go for shock value. People aren't as sensitive to violence as to sex.

Society is more to blame here, because this seems to be the case with a lot of games, avatar websites and other entertainment media. And I definitely don't fault Gaia for keeping in lines with the current norms instead of pushing them, because in the end they are a commercial site that needs to earn money, not a political one.

So you don't think Gaia would be in legal trouble if somebody alerted some conservative groups/parents about these gory items?

No. Conservative groups would be a lot more concerned over the fact that we have a gay NPC rather than the gore.

As for cleavage pics, anything that even hints at nudity or sexual content involving a real life minor Gaia has to take very seriously and ban from the site. Those conservative groups are MUCH more likely to be upset over some fourteen-year-olds posting cleavage shots on this site than over some pixelated gore.

OP is hypocrite. Can we please not make this a 20+ page thread?
I don't know how many times I've seen these damn threads come up. It's a SF cycle! gonk

.. I was going to agree... but I think I kind of disagree. It's really not that bad.

95% of the world's porn is created in the US. Preaty conservative country..
don't forget that gay sex is looked up quite often here in the deep south. But neither your statement nor mine is relevant to the topic.

YES, it's gory. Part of the story involves SUICIDE. But Gaia never really says it's PG-13 outside of giving parents an easy description as to the site. i would rather stand with an NC-12 rating.

Let's think it this way - Gaia's funky like that. They have a gay NPC (with the POSSIBILITY of a lesbian as well - i'd love some TG NPCs myself ...), lots of mythological and potentially blasphemous items, cleavage items but no allowing of sexual CONTENT by Gaians (hey, i would think posting of gore outside of an artistic context is a bannable offense as well). Gaia's also in Cali, so that has the religious Right in a pre-set.

Weren't cleavage pictures banned because there was no way of knowing if the person in the photo is a minor or not?

Also, you can only get in trouble for using Gaia items if you arrange them in a certain way to the point where it looks very inappropriate. Like what people can do with the hot dog item... Sure, it's not a glitch, but it's still not site appropriate.

Also, I thought nudity was allowed as long as it was artistic nudity? Pretty sure it says that in the ToS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't have an issue with Antipathy but it did shock me how far they took it with the severed limbs (and yes, I have seen the TWD items, there's some shock-inducing stuff there as well). I think they should drop the default underwear already, it's ridiculous.

I'm only talking based on our avatars but I do find it messed up that we can have a really gory avatar but we can't have a naked one . 3. and no, I don't want just a naked avatar, I just don't want the weird bra poking in places I don't want it to poke XD; many items don't drop the damn thing and they cover almost all of our avatar's chest D: it's just annoying, the "it's inappropriate" excuse went out of the window the moment we got the TWD CI, so why is this still an issue?.

Gaia can't get into legal trouble with this. Maybe a group or some parents might get mad, maybe try to tell people not to let their kids on the site, but no legal trouble. Otherwise, slasher films wouldn't be allowed.

Cute Punk

I really don't have a problem with the item..? No seriously I'm eating up the gory poses, keep 'em coming Gaia~. <3

Gaia did this with The Walking Dead items and people still bitched but I don't find this item gruesome.

I guess as far as nudity goes Gaia's trying to prevent younger users from seeing what they probably consider porn. Maybe the item gore, because it's made by Gaia goes to what their standards are, porn is typically one of the worst types of offenses on Gaia.

I don't really get their reasoning but I'm glad I'm at least getting my gore.

My Personal Opinion: If they threw sexual items on Gaia (which may as well already be the case with items such as Alruna's Rose), I'd be one happy pervert. I also don't mind gore, depending on what it's being used for. If it's part of sex, that's cool. If it's being used to put emphasis on our mortality, that's even better. If it's used to convince people to murder others, well that's where s**t gets serious.

When I look at America's view, via games, I can't really see much. Both gorey and pornographic - and often times the two together - games are all listed as 17+. God of War is a great example of this, because as I remember from playing the first game you could sex up some whores for extra experience.

However I'm sure that if someone decided to do something highly suggestive using a gore item, then I'm sure that person would be hearing about it.

Nope , take a look at past year's Avatar arena for this time of the year.

The thing is , they WILL get in troulbe if somebody posts some links of gory avis on some conservative organization site. It's not about the law. It's about the sponsorships. Trust me , if they get some good deal with some other more sex-friendly company we'll see some sudden change in rules and items designed.

I KNOW all these of course. But I want my voice to be heared , that's what the feedback forum is for.

I'm sorry, but you're going to have to provide some proof of those past winners since I'm not about to search for them. I'm just not a regular of the arenas, you see. If you're aware, then please give examples. I've seen people come to SF to voice about something offensive and it wasn't nearly close to being that way. So I'd like to see what you're speaking of.

It's very much about the law, not just solely sponsorships. Gaia's a business catering to the general audience, after all. Getting a reputation for not being able to control your site by letting the users post whatever material they want is a very bad thing. But gore links is very different than using virtual items, even though you can get in trouble for using virtual items to exploit glitches or highly suggestive depictions, it's still no where close to the level an actual link to gore creates. Trying to compare the two just doesn't work. The items here are regulated, unlike a link a user provided. Those can only be reported and deleted.
