- Surprisingly enough, Friedrich didn't need Kohaku's call to arms to alert him to the presence of the shadow--the fact that it was a giant, unnatural abomination clued him into its presence quite effectively. Even he wasn't sure he could fight that thing hand to hand: For one thing, it was exponentially larger than he was, and for another its face seemed to constantly keep shifting in appearance and location. That made it a bit difficult to decide where to land a punch, to say the least. He wasn't even sure if any of his offensive moves would prove to be very useful. If the large blast of fire hadn't seemed to do much, his Persona's meager attacks would probably be little more than an annoyance.
But that didn't mean he was useless by a long run. Although their group was split up, he quickly identified a place in range of all of them and headed there immediately. He could at least provide backup, and ensure that their attacks did as much as possible. Summoning Siegfried once again, he started out with debuffing the enemy's attack, defense, and evasiveness, ensuring that everyone would do as much damage as possible, before moving on to individual buffing. It would take a while of course, so he had to prioritize based on damage output, starting with Kohaku for now. "Try hitting it now, everyone! You can thank me later!" He boasted before preparing his next set of buffs--Kuro next, then Noelle, then Hitoshi. It would just take time, and a good deal of his energy. He definitely was getting too old for this.
Hiro, on the other hand, quickly made his way towards the back lines, towards where the injured Noelle was. "Leave the healing to me, Hitoshi. You can actually fight." Not considering that Noelle might have wanted to be healed by someone important to her--sentimentality had no place on the battlefield--he took to attending to her right away, confirming that she was not gravely injured. None of her bones appeared to be broken either, so healing would be an easy matter. Calling forth Ishtar once more, he healed her fully, removing her pain as well as any shock she may have been feeling. "Be more careful next time. Do you think I like doing this or something?" He scowled, checking that she was okay one last time before scanning the battle, looking for anyone else who might need his assistance.
He didn't have long to wait either, as the shadow landed one good hit on Axle and sent him flying. "Honestly..." Hiro sighed as he ran over to where he landed, ducking behind companions and rubble alike to avoid detection from the shadow. He knew he'd have to focus on healing, so maintaining the ACE armor was out of the question; he'd just have to hope that he didn't get hit at all. "What the hell did you think you were doing? I said I wouldn't heal your kneecaps if you shattered them." What was with this guy and jumping off high places? Still, he wasn't hurt enough to justify using any of his skills on yet thanks to the ACE armor; he would just have to stand by and wait to see if he got any worse, which of course he hoped would't happen. He really didn't like having to heal people. He'd definitely rather that they just didn't get hurt at all and stayed safe in the first place.
"Do not get discouraged, everyone. Our attacks are working." Although it may have seemed as though their attacks weren't doing anything to the beast in front of them, Kohaku knew that they were connecting--in her experience, shadows reacted a bit differently when they were immune to different types of attacks entirely. Regardless, she knew it could easily get frustrating if it seemed as if their efforts were for naught; they would simply have to keep at it until its damage began to show. "Still, it must have incredible stamina... This will certainly be a difficult fight."
The shadow was taking damage, albeit slowly; its tendrils could easily parry physical attacks, and it could even change portions of its physiology to resist different types of elemental damage. Although it could only attack physically, it could easily change the type of attack to whatever suited it at the moment. Still, Kohaku knew that there must have been a weakness somewhere; nothing was so perfect that it was invincible, unless it was a god. And a god it was certainly not. As she watched its movements and attack patterns, she noticed something--it couldn't attack and defend at the same time. "Wait until it attacks, everyone! Our attacks will be most effective then... I believe it will be possible to overwhelm it then!" She called out to them, preparing to use Ragnarok one more time. It would take almost the rest of her power even with Friedrich's buff, but if she could time it out, she was sure that it would be especially effective...
