Chiyoko lazily slouched in the throne chair of an abandoned palace. Only Chiyoko had the ability to make her lazy slouch appear graceful, not many could pull off such a feat. She had cleansed the palace of the transformed humans that once occupied this palace. They were all such a pain. All of them trying to get their grubby hands on what remained of her jewel. Well now she had the palace to herself. She suppose it would do until she figured out what to do next. To think her wish actually came true was intriguing. To think such a jewel had such power.
Holding the jewel a few inches away from her face, Chiyoko peered into the strange tainted jewel. It wasn't the reason why there was turmoil within her family. No, the turmoil wasn't the jewel's fault but something that had been building up inside her for a long time. Everything was now in the open and she wasn't sure if her mate could accept this part of her. She had lost her composure, something a noble woman should never do. Even if he could accept her, he still cared for the humans more than her. He would find her wish unforgivable. She had taken the one thing he cherished most away from him and a huge part of her didn't regret the wish. Things were how they should be. Perhaps in time she would return to him but now wasn't the time. If she saw the hurt look in his orbs it would cause her heart to waver. He would want to use the jewel to wish the humans back into existence.
It wouldn't be long before they came searching for the jewel fragments she possessed. Chiyoko had purposely cloaked her demonic presence to keep unwanted visitors at bay. She could cloak her presence but not the jewels'. As long as she held the shards she had, no one could wish those wretched humans back into existence. They would soon see how much better this world was without those creatures!

It was definitely a night of tossing and turning for Kikyo. Dreams of her parents transforming into monsters and turning on her plagued in her dreams only to wake up in a sweat. Normally waking up was when the nightmare ended, only her nightmare was a reality. How long would it be before they gathered all the jewels and reversed the wish? They had to be careful with their wording or they may do more damage than good.
Who knew going off to gather some herbs would result in something like this. She didn't think her departure from the village would mean she wouldn't be able to see her parents and baby sister for awhile. It felt kind of lonely to be without her family but at least she wasn't alone. The group she was with proved to be trustworthy, otherwise she probably wouldn't have been able to temporarily leave her guard down long enough to fall asleep.
This time when she awoke from her slumber, the sun was slowly beginning to rise. They had ended up resting in one of the caves up in the mountains. It was perhaps one of the safer areas with all the chaos going on below. Kikyo had volunteered herself to be part of the lookout shift since the knight was out cold and InuTaisho needed his rest. She had stayed up as long as her body was able to before one of them relieved her of her duty.
Now that it was finally morning, Kikyo stood up from her spot and emerged from the cave, making sure to take her boy and arrow. She would allow the others to rest and gather breakfast. Constantly traveling with her parents, Kikyo had learned to become the independent child she was. That is why it was perhaps difficult for her to relate to children her own age. She didn't seem to have the same dependance as them. She was the best candidate to get breakfast. Kagura had her hands full with Inuyasha and the two children, the knight still needed his rest and InuTaisho was still recovering from his injuries.
There was a stream she had seen earlier and where there was a stream, there were bound to be fish. Adjusting the bows and arrows on her back, Kikyo began on her journey to catch breakfast. She would be back before they all woke up...

Inuyasha restlessly scratched at the barrier that kept him put. No matter how much he scratched and rammed into it, the barrier refused to break. He wasn't sure how he ended up in here. It just happened to be where he found himself upon waking up. A low growl escaped his lips, attempting to dig himself out next only to find the ground was part of the barrier as well. He paced back and forth, seemingly determined to find a weak spot. He had long ago knocked over his water bowl and shredded the cot meant for him in a fit of rage. Inuyasha wanted out and he seemed bent on getting out.
Again Inuyasha wildly attacked the barrier, desperately scratching to get out so much that his nails began to bleed. His orbs dangerously glowered towards the human girl retreating from the caves. He wanted to eat her! She looked tasty!

- Most of last night was a blur after retreating from Kikyo's village. From what InuTaisho could recall they fled in the direction of the mountains. Yet everything looked so different in the daylight. After a restless night he wandered if his growls and tossing about disturbed anyone else. Once or twice while being semi-conscious he thought he might have heard Kikyo or the pups. Finally when the sun started to peek over the horizon it was evident that sleep eluded him. Sniffing about this cave they'd taken shelter in he found one scent to be more faint than the rest - Kikyo!
Suddenly a ruckus from where Inuyasha had been confined alerted the great dog demon to full consciousness. Staggering up onto his feet, growling between clenched teeth from an ache in his left side, he approached the barrier with a glint of sadness behind golden eyes. Seeing his youngest son trapped like some wild animal that humans put into cages tugged at his aging heart. InuTaisho was careful not to touch the barrier as he knelt down on one knee to get more eye level with the hanyou. "Inuyasha... You are not alone." his voice was nothing more than a whisper. If only he could reach out and embrace his pup. Thinking what to do now and find out how to set things right he found it getting kind of stuffy inside the cave. With one last glance to Inuyasha he turned to fetch his three swords and lightly stepped out into the open.
A rush of fresh air quickly filled his senses. Silently paused he sniffed around to pick up Kikyo's scent trail and what seemed to be a nearby water source. Close enough to the cave he made sure not to be gone for too long and remain within shouting distance should anything happen. The dog demon ventured onward threw the thicket until Kikyo's scent grew stronger. Not wanting to scare her (after witnessing the potential of her powers last night) it was best to make some noise as he approached. There by the waters' edge was a tree big enough to sit under while the human girl went about her business of catching breakfast. Unlike his normal, graceful self InuTaisho managed to ease himself down and lean back against the rough tree trunk. Stretching out one leg with the other slightly bent at least it felt like he could breath somewhat easier. Even if just for a moment to take in the sounds of nature at this time of the morning... Silence hung over the dog demon as what happened last night continued to haunt his mind. Even the tranquility here within the mountains couldn't erase all those images from lingering thoughts. Beloved... get rid of that wretched jewel and return to us. Your son needs you... as do I.

Waiting for just the right moment for the fish to flip out of the water, Kikyo shot her arrow, the sharp blade piercing the fishes one by one and pinning them to the tree on the other side of the stream. She planned to get just enough fish for everyone. It had been awhile since she caught breakfast for more than her small family. Her orbs momentarily glanced back upon hearing some noise. She was at an angle where she could quickly defend herself if need be. Kikyo slightly frowned when she saw it was InuTaisho. What was he doing up and about? He should still be back resting. Yesterday had taken a great toll on him. First his wife had gone mad and now his youngest. Had he come because he was worried about her well being? She suppose she didn't do well defending herself yesterday since she had a few close calls. Or perhaps it was because InuTaisho wasn't accustomed to children her age wandering off on their own. Normally children her age played with dolls or other children their age but she was far too busy wrapped up in her trainings or being given lessons about herbal medicines. Or perhaps InuTaisho worried because he was a parent and her parents tended to worry about her despite her own abilities.
Once Kikyo felt she had caught enough fish, she crossed the other side and collected her catch into one huge brown sack. It was a bit heavy, especially for a child of her height and physical strength but at least the walk back wasn't far. She momentarily paused to refill some containers with fresh water. They may need it on the journey. Kikyo was so accustom to traveling that she knew how to survive in the wilderness and she seemed well prepared.
Heaving the heavy sack over her shoulders once more, Kikyo slowly trudge towards InuTaisho and plopped right next to him. “What are you doing here? You're suppose to be resting. It's still far too early for you to be moving about even if you demons do heal faster than humans.” Kikyo bluntly pointed out in a scolding manner, flashing InuTaisho a firm stare. It was obvious his thoughts were elsewhere. Probably thinking of ways to fix this mess. He too looked as though he constantly held the world's weight on his shoulders. “Listen....I'm sorry about your mate and youngest. We probably would have had this whole mess fixed if I hadn't shattered the jewel like that. This is partially my fault which is why I'm going to do my best to fix it.” Kikyo apologetically spoke, reassuring InuTaisho with a sincere promise. It was the least she could do. She couldn't exactly stand around and do nothing when the whole human race well almost the whole human race had transformed into brainless demons.

Mizuki was curled up on one side of the cave asleep curled up in her mothers fur who had transformed last night and was to exhausted to transform back. Mizuki's hands where clenched in her mothers fur while she was asleep. Her mother was curled up in a semi crescent around both pups so they could both be comfortable. Mizuki yawned coming awake sitting up and stretching her arms above her head as she looked at her mother and sesshomaaru the only ones still in the ave.
Kagura was half asleep still curled up around the pups in her true form. She had been curled around the entire group but she noticed a few missing. Still to tired to really care she closed her eyes drifting off again. After all she had died yesterday she deserved a bit of rest. As she drifted back to sleep she felt her daughter start to awken right before sleep claimed her once again. Holy J I N X

Inuyasha's wild behavior soon came into a stall the moment InuTaisho neared. The only thing that prevented Inuyasha from attacking his own father was the barrier that rested between them. InuTaisho's words were met with a savage hiss as he flashed his father the meanest glare he could muster. His orbs seemed to watch InuTaisho's every movement as the other soon departed.
Puffing his cheeks in discomfort, Inuyasha turned and kicked his water bowl, a look of surprise falling on his facial features when the bowl actually flew out of the barrier, right towards where Sesshomaru slept. His ears perked in anticipation at the fact the bowl made it through the barrier and without much thought, he sprinted forward only to ram smack into the barrier. Little did he know the barrier Kikyo created was meant to keep demons sealed in a particular spot. She had warned the others about stepping into it for they would become trapped in it as well. Only non demons were capable of going and coming as they pleased.

- The odd 'ping' of an arrow striking a fish to a tree brought InuTaisho out of daze momentarily. Watching from where he sat it became evident that Kikyo's survival skills were that to be admired. Some adult humans he's met in his travels couldn't even compare to this girl. He always thought that human children either played or helped out in the fields. Perhaps it was this priestess training that took away any luxuries of childhood for Kikyo?
Half dozing in the warmth of the suns' rays he silently observed her actions as she crossed the stream to fetch their breakfast and fill some containers with fresh mountain water. By this time the dog demon's mind seemed to get lost in thought until the moment this girl plopped down beside him. Scolding words didn't fall on deaf ears as her voice seemed to bring him back to reality. Pondering golden eyes turned to meet Kikyo's firm stare. Under different circumstances InuTaisho would have the energy to find this amusing. A child scolding him? Not many humans (or demons for that matter) had the guts to face him head-on in such a manner. And for that he seemed to reach a new level of respect towards her. Not a word of protest or argument came from his lips as he knew very well that she was right.
What Kikyo said next would take the dog demon completely by surprise. Now with his undivided attention on her his ears picked up on words of an apology and a sincere promise. All this time he taught his pups to be careful of priestess - for their own safety of course. Yet who would ever imagine that he would be sitting here in the presence of one who had purifying powers. Anyone who thought that demons and priestesses were mortal enemies never really met this human girl. Sure she was still in her the midst of training. Yet to InuTaisho she's a priestess no matter where her abilities lay. "We are going to fix things. You are not to blame," he spoke softly with a light sigh. "If you had not shattered the jewel we may not be alive this morning to speak about it. What happened-" cough cough cough A sudden coughing fit interrupted him for a moment. Without thinking his hand reached up to cover his mouth, only to find a familiar metallic taste once the coughing ceased. "- happened for a reason. At least my mate no longer possess the entire jewel. It gives us an advantage to complete our task."

All the chaos last night had finally made Sesshomaru exhausted enough to sleep through the night. The whole ordeal was like one emotional roller coaster for the older Inu sibling. And try as he might to act brave he was still just a pup. Did Mizuki feel like this when Kagura had that encounter with the rat demons? What would become of Inuyasha? Would the knight be alright once he regains consciousness? Why hadn't his own mother come back? Faint whimpers escaped from under his breath as this new day began. He rolled over onto his side, facing Mizuki, when his clawed fingertips felt a warm, furry pelt keeping them comfortable.
Without warning a water bowl sent flying through the air just happened to bonk Sesshomaru on his head. Instantly he woke up with a painful startle and bolted upright before his mind could even consider what was going one. "Ow!" he gave a painful yelp, squinting his eyes shut and reaching up with both hands to rub the sore spot on his head.
"You don't scare me. I'm a full grown pup!"

Mizuki turned her head to look at Sesshomaru and Giggled slightly at the disgruntled look on Sesshomaru's face. "It would appear he can hit you when your asleep even when you sleep apart Sesshomaru-kun" Mizuki smiled shyly as she looked at him her hair falling in a disarray around hr face a bit mussed from sleep. She shyly rran her fingers through her hair trying to get her hair fixed in a decent position so she looked like a lady not a mongrel. mouse65

- A familiar scent and slight giggles finally brought Sesshomaru's senses back to the waking world. Upon rubbing away some of the pain he finally opened his eyes enough to blink three times and get his bearings. "Huh?" Golden orbs looked to be met by that shy smile and affectionate nickname. Where... where are we? For a moment Sesshomaru peered around the cave while picking up on the others' scents, then turned his attention back to Mizuki. "The runt claims I hit him in my sleep. Guess he figures this is payback." In that small second he actually sounded like the teasing big brother he's always been towards Inuyasha. Yet a glance over Mizuki's shoulder to see this miniature sized crazed hanyou brought about haunting thoughts.
As the Inu fe pup tried to fix her hair, Sesshomaru reached up in an attempt to brush back a stray strand on her cheek. "You missed one." His own hair didn't look any better.
"You don't scare me. I'm a full grown pup!"

Mizuki blushed slightly as he brushed her hair back into place. Her bright green eyes glowed slightly as she decided to return the favor by brushing his hair behind one of his delicatly pointed ears. She smiled as she Looked at him."You do fail arounnnnnd when you sleep I think it's cute, Mama says that it means your having good dreams" Mizuki blushed realising she had said she thought he was cute in ny way shape or form She was not good at this.

It meant that he was aware of her capabilities, though they may not exactly be perfect yet. To think that she would ever be working side by side with a demon, well Lord InuTaisho out of all demons. What came to an even more surprised was that he was not blaming her at all, he was rather grateful of her actions. She had only pierced the jewel because at that time, a part of her believed she was able to destroy it but destroying the jewel may not be possible. Kikyo's orbs worriedly glanced over at InuTaisho once he fell into a coughing fit. He had most likely overexerted himself. Her hand fluidly moved over to rub his back to help ease the coughing. It was kind of an habit of hers to automatically jump in to aid the sick or injured. Despite his demonic healing abilities, she had still insisted on keeping the injuries clean and patched up.
As of now, she only knew the basics about herbal medicines and InuTaisho's injuries seemed to be a bit more on the advance level. Her orbs widened when she noticed traces of blood on his hand. If he was coughing up blood, it couldn't possibly be a good sign. Humans often died from it but he was a demon....he healed faster.....he had ten times or perhaps more strength than the average human. “Yes but you still need time to recover. We can probably use your recovery time to do a bit of research. There is a castle not too far from here if we go by flight but if we go by horse, it would take a few hours. The horses in our village were trained to come by hearing our whistles, I'm sure when they saw transformations taking place they fled into the forest in fright. I guess it all depends if Kagura has enough strength to fly us there, you shouldn't overexert yourself unless there is no other option. It is best to reserve your strength for now and use it to heal. The castle has one of the biggest library within it. The place may be infested with lower class demons but if we strategy right, i'm sure we can overcome them.” She confidently spoke. Kikyo was positive that she could use everyone's strength as an asset to take over at least the castle's library. “We should probably head back now, everyone should be waking soon.” She stated, abruptly standing up and placing two of her fingers within her mouth to release a high pitch whistle in an attempt to call for any horses that may be nearby. If any horses had heard, it would take them awhile to follow the source.

If he was coughing up blood, it couldn't possibly be a good sign. Humans often died from it but he was a demon....he healed faster.....he had ten times or perhaps more strength than the average human. “Yes but you still need time to recover. We can probably use your recovery time to do a bit of research. There is a castle not too far from here if we go by flight but if we go by horse, it would take a few hours. The horses in our village were trained to come by hearing our whistles, I'm sure when they saw transformations taking place they fled into the forest in fright. I guess it all depends if Kagura has enough strength to fly us there, you shouldn't overexert yourself unless there is no other option. It is best to reserve your strength for now and use it to heal. The castle has one of the biggest library within it. The place may be infested with lower class demons but if we strategy right, i'm sure we can overcome them.” She confidently spoke. Kikyo was positive that she could use everyone's strength as an asset to take over at least the castle's library. “We should probably head back now, everyone should be waking soon.” She stated, abruptly standing up and placing two of her fingers within her mouth to release a high pitch whistle in an attempt to call for any horses that may be nearby. If any horses had heard, it would take them awhile to follow the source.

For a few silent seconds Sesshomaru was content just to sit there, leaning against Kagura's soft fur, as he observed Mizuki's reactions. Did girls always blush this much? Girls seemed to be such a mystery that his mind was trying to comprehend. The only other fe he really associated with was Chiyoko (naturally). A curious look as if asking a million 'why' questions flickered behind golden eyes he tilted his head ever so slightly. This allowing Mizuki to tuck a silvery strand behind his ear.
Then came those dreaded words when the Inu fe pup mentioned that he does flail around in his sleep. Instantly Sesshomaru assumed he must have bopped her by accident while snuggled in Kagura's furry pelt. His gaze was just about to look down from Mizuki until she confessed thinking it was cute and how it means he's having good dreams (or so her mother says). Eyes widened with a glint of surprise as his head came up to meet her gaze once more. "Really?" Paused for a moment the older Inu sibling hesitated to ask, "did I... hurt you in my sleep? Last night?"
