Oh by the gods, the ******** of it all was too much to bare. Did this woman seriously think she knew anything about him? She was a one trick pony. A woman who had never known anything but luxury and fine dinning, while others crawled beneath her table on their knees hoping for even a crumb of what fell from it.

How did she know who he loved? Or didn't? Her vision was so limited, that if he did have a Kingdom to show her, she wouldn't have be able to see it! The woman was an useless appendage! No wonder her husband was ready to kill her at the first sign of a betrayal. He was attempting to rid himself of her nagging voice, useless monologues, and blind optimistic. She was a sickness to a man with power.

If Alexander were to get anything accomplished he would need her to simply take orders and keep her mouth shut. His question had been rhetorical; he didn't ask for her opinion on the matter. She was his prisoner, and yet she acted as if there was no threat on her life. Did she fear nothing? Not even a mad man, who was prepared to kill her in the street only yesterday? Ah yes, Belva wasn't only all of the things above, she was foolish as well.

His eyes lit up when she pressed the cool of his own blade against his neck. He wanted her to do it. He wanted her to prove him wrong. But she didn't. Alexander was always right. No one had proved to him that they were more than he believed them to be. Not even Silas or Phineus. He counted on his blood brothers to be predictable, to react just the way their persona depicted.

The Queen had surprised him twice, there would not be a third. He was going to break her down. And she was going to see that she couldn't change the past. She was who she was. There was no changing that, or her husband for that matter.

Alexander was no coward. He feared nothing-- not truly. And with time, Belva would come to see that. It was the fact that he had no fear that made him the man he was today. The fact that he cared not, that was the reason for why his plans were foolproof-- there was no human error. "I'm a coward?" He grinned at her, as she drew back the blade and let it fall to the ground. The woman then, to his surprise, shoved the book into his arms with great force; and already, he could hear the souls starting to stir.

"And yet you 'ave a chance to kill and do not take it! Pick it up your 'ighness! Kill me! Put me out of my ******** misery. And save your charming King all on your own-- oof!" Alexander hadn't even the chance to finish his sentence before a small fist punched his face. And it wasn't a blow done with care, but furiosity. She was so angry, he could see it in her eyes and the way her nose flared when she came in again for another attack.

It seemed with her, he was is perceptual state of disbelief-- reaching down to catch the blood as it trickled from his nostrils. That was a good shot. No thanks to Bishop who had warned Phineus to duck. Alexander saw that the half-giant had her, as she struggled to get free of him, for one more chance to unleash the anger she actually had for herself and how blind she had been, on him.

"You, stupid b***h!" He growled moving forward only to have Silas grab his arm, but he Alexander would have none of it. He shook the man from him like a leaf and shoved Phineus backward reaching for the woman with hands so fast no one likely knew what was going on until after it had already happened. Although he had carelessly dropped the Book, where he had been standing in the dirt, in pursuit of Belva. Silas quickly picked it up and handed it off Bishop.

Alexander didn't look particularly strong, but he was. And that was really unfortunate for the Queen. He had her right arm now in a rather odd position. It wasn't painful, but it applied a great deal of pressure to her shoulder. Alexander her taken her hand and twisted it back behind her, whirling her around toward the path that lead out of town. Her forearm and hand were pinned up against her back and his front was pushed up again her back as well. He had to admit, the view wasn't so bad as he glance down at her rear.

The elf leaned in, and placed his lips against her ear menacingly. "If I were cruel like you claim, I would 'ave killed you just now. But I let you live. You 'ave stabbed and struck me, and I 'ave not 'armed you in any way. If that is the mark of a cruel man in your eyes, then you 'ave not witnessed true callousness." He pushed her forward and released her.

"Let's go. Now!" He holler to the others.

Alexander broke into stride, moving ahead to lead the group out of town. They would simply have to take out the guards at the gate. Perhaps Belva could manage a distraction, and properly channel her energy. Their horses were waiting outside the gate in the forest.

                                                                          S
he watched as Alexander wiped the blood just above his upper lip and found herself hesitating as he advanced towards her and Phineus. If she hadn't been struggling to escape his hold then, she was now and was fighting the urge to lash out at Phineus as a result of his neglect to notice the angry elf intent on doing her harm. Silas' efforts did little to stop him and by the time Phineus looked up, shocked to see how quickly Alexander had relocated himself in front of them, he was being shoved back and forced to release Belva. The queen looked up to meet the elf's gaze with a look equally as infuriated but as she went to raise a hand to fend him off it was pulled and twisted behind her in such a fashion that she had to stand on the tips of her toes just to release some of the tension around her shoulder. She winced as she was whipped in front of Alexander, flinching as he neared her face and spoke. He was so close that she could feel his breath against her neck. It was enough to cause her to tremble in anticipation of what he might do in the midst of his rage. But instead, he spoke otherwise. Belva let out a sharp breath as she was propelled forward and stumbled. Once she'd regained her balance she stood in place, only moving after Alexander had passed. She was at a loss. She didn't want to agree with him and in no way did she.... until the latter of his statement. It was true. He hadn't harmed her. But the threat was there and knowing that this man was a stranger and the way he spoke was that of a man experienced in the wrong doings he taunted her with was enough to cause her to believe he was exactly what he presented himself.

Truth be told, it wasn't just Daemos that she was upset about. Alexander had also brought up the fact that she'd married the man, unbeknownst to the fact that he was a killer as well as a monster. And that was what drove her mad. Seeing this side of Sonitus had been one thing. Knowing full and well that she had neglected to take her roll as queen seriously enough to prevent such things was another........ She'd been blinded by Daemos lies. He'd told her all was fine. And she'd had no reason to believe otherwise. She'd lived her years as queen in denial and negligence. Perhaps Alexander had been right even in that sense.... But if there was one thing he was wrong about, it was her as a whole. She was not useless. And despite how he continuously badgered her with remarks pertaining to how pointless her life was, he had no idea the extent she would go to for the sake of her people. She'd had no intention of giving up. And to think he'd thought-..... But what did it matter. This man was nothing to her. She was not with him by choice but rather because she was forced to. But so long as she was with them she would make sure that he understood it was not for his benefit, but to right the wrongs she and Daemos had done. Just then a slight grip eased it's way around her wrist and she looked down to see Bishop at her side. The boy was holding up the book of Howls and peering at her with a concerned look. "Are you alright?" He asked to which she nodded in response and smiled before taking the book and placing it back into her bag. "I'm sorry. I should have restrained myself. I could have gotten you hurt." Bishop shrugged forgivingly and urged her onward, the two taking care to watch over one another as they progressed up the road.

By the time they'd exited the town a large wall had come into view..... It was the gate separating Sontius from the rest of the world..... Something Belva had never thought she would see again for quite some time. "It's been at least a year since I've been here....." She muttered and looked down at Bishop who exchanged a look of interest with her. "Where did you go?" Belva's brow furrowed as she looked back up at the massive structure with a sigh, recalling her trip... "Home. I went back home. It's ruled by my brother now. But I haven't heard from him in quite some time." A dazed expression befell Bishop and for a brief moment he went limp and ragdoll like in her grasp. "Bishop? Bishop?!?!" She knelt down and gently shook the boy's shoulders before looking up at the three men with an alarmed expression and then resuming her attempts to awaken the child. When he'd finally come to he glanced at her with a look of confusion before smiling brightly. "I found a way out. But it's not going to be easy. There are a lot of guards up there..... And the rope isn't long enough.... But.... It could work." Bishop turned his attention towards the top of the wall where five guards stood patrolling the wall, pacing back and forth with blades sheathed at their side. "Up there?" She whispered in disbelief. "And over. I saw us do it. But um.... You fell. Try not to do that." Bishop finished looking over at Silas upon mentioning the latter of the statement before then turning to Alexander for validation on the thought.

"Oh good, the kid's dead." Alexander said matter of factually, as they neared the end of the cobblestone pathway, by the wall that kept Sonitus from prying eyes.

Bishop had gone into a daze. And it was honestly, the most peculiar thing the elf had ever seen. Both Silas and Phineus seemed concerned that he may never come out of it. And Belva was like the child's long lost mother, now at eye level with him in the dirt-- attempting to wake Bishop from his stupor. Yet, Alexander only watched for a second, before his eyes shifted to what was behind them.

When the companions had arrive yesterday, the wall hadn't been nearly as busy with the King's Guard. But it seemed, that with the threat of his missing Book and beloved wife, things had changed. And no doubt, the city would be on lock-down once the King found that his precious Orcs were dead. He hoped that the elder had enough sense to warn the townsfolk of whatever destruction was to come upon them for the acts the Queen had committed. It was likely that every last one of them would be killed by Daemos for treason, especially if he found the bodies of his mercenaries in their territory.

That was precisely the reason Bishop was here. A father had foreseen the murder of his son if he stayed in the city, and thought his future was brighter outside of it. Still, it made more sense to have sent the lad with a well trusted group, perhaps into the forest. But then again, these people had no money, and wouldn't survive for too long merely attempting to live off the land.

In Alexander's mind, as bad an idea as it was for a man to send his child off with bandits, it was perhaps his only chance of living a free life. And even if the boy wasn't killed by the King, his gift could have been used to do is evil bidding. And then the glorious city would have gone up in flames. Alexander needed to see the bright side of this situation, or he was going to kill them all out of pure frustration.

"Would you stop it..." Silas whispered at his companion with a reprimanding tone, in regards to his remark about being happy about the demise of a child.

And unfortunately, he wasn't right. The dazed look that came over Bishop was gone as quickly as it came. He spoke of a vision, and as Belva pointed to the wall, Alexander glance back to assess the situation. He sighed heavily, not sure that he liked the idea of possibly being overwhelmed by guards. There were five to be exact, and technically only three of them. And all three able bodied bandits, were without weapons.

Alexander assumed that the rope that Bishop spoke about was up top. They simply need to climb the ladder, knock out five armed men, and toss it over. He made it seem so easy, it couldn't have possible been as impossible as everyone thought it was. Could it? Of course, it could.

"Listen, I know you and that witch come from the same fantasy land, but this plan is risky. I need the both of you to simply do as your told." The warning was cold. For some reason he was still upset about the fact that Belva had punched him. His nose had stopped bleeding, and luckily Silas had a handkerchief that he used to wipe all traces from his lips and chin. However, he was still fuming silently.

As usual, Alexander led the way. He moved the group off the path and toward the more wooded area surrounding the wall. A place where the guards couldn't look down and simply see them standing there out in the open. The tree's thick branches and green leaves created a much needed canopy, that acted as a shield from prying eyes until they were ready to make their move.

Against the wall, there were two wooden ladders side by side, leading up to the top where the guards were stationed, meaningfully pacing back and forth in hopes of catching a glimpse of something out of the ordinary. Alexander had to worry about two things. First, was the fact that these guards could easily see them at any moment while they were climbing and simply knock the ladder down, killing-- or at the very least, disorienting whomever was attached to it before it fell. Second, was the fact that some of them may make it up and over, while the other's were caught and captured.

"Come on," He voice was surprisingly tender as it left his lips. He was speaking to Bishop who was already reaching out for his hand. At least, if Belva died, he had the kid to keep him one step ahead. She merely needed to stay out of the way, and not attempt to be a hero to stay alive. But she wasn't very good at following directions, so he would see in the end if she came out of this alive.

Alexander came down onto one knee, pulling the boy's arms up and over his shoulders then tugged them around his neck, effectively positioning him onto his back. It was a bit painful, given his injury, but he would worry about that later. Once Bishop was secured and holding on for dear life, he glanced back at him with a seriousness upon his face that hadn't been seen before. "Don't worry, I won't drop you." The last thing he needed was for the boy to squirm about upon his back, for more reasons then one.

Alexander then made eye contact with his companions, who were eyeing him suspiciously for some reason. He paid them no mind, merely rolling his eyes as he gave them the signal to move ahead-- the Queen as well-- to the ladder to the left, while he moved ahead on the ladder to the right. It would take Phineus some time to reach the top and he wanted to make sure that guards were taken care of in a timely manner; before they could knock the ladder down, or call for help.

Alexander once again proved that he was quick on his feet, and stealthily climbed the ladder, even with Bishop upon his back. In mere moments he found himself at the top, and reaching up with a weak hand for the cool of the stone structure. He could hear the men talking. And in turn, the elf eyed the boy to make sure he knew not to make a sound, as he crept up onto the wall. Silas wasn't far behind him.

Alexander dropped down and gently put Bishop onto his feet as he noted the guards not far, they were in a group conversing above the gate's entrance. Suddenly he had this strange feeling of worry as he looked down to check on the Queen. She was still there. Rope lined the floor of the structure, and that meant a quick getaway. "Climb down and find the 'orses." He told them, before dropping to the ground and slithering toward his prey like a serpent. They were only a few feet away, and as soon as he was close enough to reach up and pluck a sword from the guard, they spotted his group.

"Look there, intruders!" Fortunately, they were so high, the guards on the ground wouldn't hear their warning. Alexander quickly snatched the sword he had been so tentatively seeking and got to his feet. He swung the weapon like a bat and knocked the unarmed man backward off the wall, as he plummeted swiftly to his death.

The other four were outraged immediately and charged the elf. He could only hope that his group were already on their way down.

                                                                          S
he thought it risky to go with the young boy's plan especially given the fact he had just mentioned one of them falling off the rope on the other side as well as the small detail of its length. He did not elaborate much further than that but it was enough to convince Alexander to do as much despite the man's conflicting opinion over it as well. They followed Alexander's lead and tentatively approached the dual ladders leading up towards the top of the wall. Alexander took Bishop and draped the child over his shoulders much like a cloak before ascending one ladder and instructing them to take the other. Silas went first, then she, and finally Phineus. The three of them waited as Alexander went ahead and pulled himself and Bishop over the ledge before setting the boy down and sending him off to find the horses on the other side. She watched as the elf lowered himself and eventually disappeared from view, at least from where she stood on the ladder. As soon as Alexander had slunk away, Silas had reached the top of the wall and quickly turned to pull her up as well before both did the same for Phineus. She could hear the soft thud of Bishop as he managed to land below unharmed despite how short the rope was and the patter of his feet as he ran off in search of the men's horses. All seemed to be going well...... At least until Alexander had seemingly alerted the guards. The man stole the weapon off of the one he'd been sneaking up on and swung it about wildly but with a grace she hadn't thought possible from someone as vile as he.

Silas was quick to urge them to slide down the rope and she followed after him quickly, falling only to be caught by the blond before both moved out of the way for Phineus. But while he was busy climbing down Belva came to realize that Alexander was still atop the wall..... fighting five well armed and well trained men on his own. While the armored guards were distracted Phineus was able to land safely and the three observed the fight above. It was then, that seemingly out of nowhere a sixth man appeared. An archer dressed unlike the others in dark black and purple material approached Alexander from behind. As he lift his bow there was a purple electricity about it that she'd only seen possessed by Daemos' sword. It would seem as if her husband had taken extra precautions here. Belva looked over towards Phineus and Silas as the two men looked up helplessly at their companion before doing something she felt she knew she'd come to regret later in their journey. She back peddled away from the men only to run up behind Phineus and jump onto the half giant's back and scale his shoulders before making an abrupt leap for the rope above. The giant touched his shoulder's, attempting too late to stop her. Silently Belva cursed herself as well as Alexander underneath forced breaths as she pulled her way back up towards the top of the wall and clambered back over it's edge. In front of her stood the archer, now mere feet from Alexander as the man continued the battle between the remaining four knights and pulling back his bow preparing to release the arrow. Belva ran with all her might and slammed into the side of the archer resulting in a misfire that only served to pierce the skull of one of the four knights and narrowing the number down to three. She tore the man's bow from his hand and gripped the quiver on his back as it ripped away from him as he stumbled to the side and over the wall towards the men below. His corpse landed with a crack as bones blistered through flesh and splintered across the earth in a macabre of gore.

Belva hadn't time to discern her actions and the blatant murder of her husband's men. Instead she lifted the bow to her face, replaced the arrow, and pulled back. An electric pulse of purple soared through the weapon and into the tip of the arrow as it pierced the air with a whistling sound and erupted into a blinding light before striking the man to Alexander's left nearly missing the elf's face. Seeing men approaching off in the distance she knew that there time was limited. It wouldn't be long before the masses were upon them. Keeping that in mind, Belva knelt down and grabbed the rope that she'd used to climb back up the wall and tied it around her ankle and shin. If all went accordingly, she wouldn't break her limb in the process of doing something foolish. The queen rushed at Alexander whilst he was still fighting off what was left of the guards all the while eying the group approaching. "I hate you. Oh gods, do I hate you." She hissed between clenched teeth before slipping her hand around his and shoving him over the edge and jumping after him only to reach out and grab hold of the fiery man's arm. She let out a sharp yelp as the weight of them both yanked at her leg and she glanced up only to find that the guards had reached their destination and were now beginning to tug at the rope in an attempt to pull them back up.

Belva was desperate. The strain on her leg was killing her and so without much thought put into it she looked back down at Alexander, her voice quaking as she shrugged her bag off and allowed it to fall below followed by the quiver and bow leaving nothing but a single arrow to which she'd reached up and began sawing frantically at the rope. It was a painstakingly slow process and by the time it finally gave way, they were at least three feet higher than they'd originally been. She could only hope that the impact wouldn't do them much harm as they began to plummet to the earth below. All the while, the men above them had begun to swing one of the ladders over onto their side in a clear attempt to attack on the outside of the wall of Sonitus. Their desperation had no limits when it came to obeying their kings orders and they would be relentless in their pursuit.

Alexander was attempting to focus, to feel the ground beneath his feet, and become one with the weapon he hand in his palms. Surely, this was the first time he had ever attempted to be the hero. How he regretted making such a decision!

Still, he wasn't doing this to prove anything to anyone; but rather, to demonstrate that he was an unstoppable force once he had his mind set on attaining a goal. Daemos would see, once he discovered the dead bodies of his mercenaries, and the splattered guts of his guards at the entrance to his Empire-- once he realized that his book and beloved wife were no where to be found-- that this elf was a formidable foe.

He wanted the King's blood to boil to the point of setting his skin ablaze. Alexander wanted to make a name for himself. He wanted to be feared, by the most feared man in the world; more than a master at banditry, he wanted to be revered. So much so, that no man wished to seek him out for a reward, but to avoid him, at all cost. And this plan was working out better than he could have dreamed.

Alexander was still in the middle of a fight, ducking and dodging the guards, but without an actual strike being made. And he knew that he wouldn't get any closer to getting down from this godforsaken wall without one. He swiped to the right, banging one of the men on the back with the butt of his sword. He pushed another one away, while a blade swung down at him from the right, narrowly missing, but chopped off some of the elf's rose colored hairs. Alexander had ducked, but came back up with a closed fist, and clocked the man with it, forcing him to stumble backwards.

His mind was in overdrive, trying to figure out how he was going to make this work--- just as an arrow went whizzing by his head and hit one of the guards square in the center of his breastplate. He cried out loud and fell over the side shocking not only Alexander, but the man's own comrades. He assumed at the first, the arrow had been meant for him, but when he glanced over his shoulder he noted the Queen.

This woman didn't know how to follow orders, as a matter of fact, it seemed she was adamant about doing the exact opposite of what he wanted, and, or expected. More guards were coming now, and he had enough trouble defending himself. Now he had to deal with Belva as well.

A groan escaped his lips as he started to back away from the men he had been fighting, slowly but surely. They encroached upon him, sure that he had no where else to go, when he heard the woman nearby-- her footsteps and then her voice hissing in his ear like a snake. "Oh believe me, love. The feeling is mutual." He rebutted, unsuspecting of what she was about to do next.

Suddenly, her small pale arm reached out, and before he could question her, they were falling. Alexander hadn't been afraid until just then. Then they stopped. She had his hand, but he realized that she was hanging by her ankle! And suddenly he was in disbelief. Belva dropped her bag, and bow, which he assumed she had stolen off of a guard. Then she swiped an arrow and cut the rope sending them tumbling down to the ground.

Alexander barely had time to catch his breath, but he was sure her ankle was broken. There was no doubt in his mind. Therefore, there was a mode of panic that overtook him in that moment, something he had never felt before; most likely because he had never had someone save his life. The instinct was so strong that he simply reached down to pick up her things and tossed them into her lap, before scooping her up into her arms carefully-- without so much as an evil thought involving leaving her there to suffer the wrath of Daemos.

Soon enough, he had broken into a run. Silas, Phineus, and the Bishop were gone already, likely prepared to meet them at the rendezvous point. Alexander was swift, he was probably one of the fastest, most agile men the Kingdom of Sonitus had ever seen. So if the ears didn't give away the fact that he was an elf, his grace did. "Stupid. Absolutely the dumbest thing I've ever seen anyone do. If anything, you tie the rope to your waist! You're ankle? Are you insane? And I told you...I said to climb down. If you want me to leave you for dead, just say so!"

His voice was void of anger, his tone was actually rather high pitched due to the surge of emotion that was running through him. He did not want to be indebted to Belva. And yet, she had made that so. He wasn't a man of honor, but he did had a code, which is why he obeyed by the rules of the blood oath he had taken with Silas and Phineus. He didn't wish to anger the gods. He had witnessed their wrath once already.

Eventually, Alexander reached the clearing, where his companions were saddling the horses. Their eyes were relieved to see him but they dared not speak it. If they told him how they were feeling, then they would reveal that they had a lack of faith in their partner, and believed he wouldn't come through. So instead, they continued to prepare, trying not to seem concerned.

"'Ere, take the savior." He mocked Belva, as Phineus reached down from his horse to take her, but without much caution. "She is injured..." Alexander regretted the words immediately, but couldn't take them back. "Be careful with'er."

If there was ever a time to vomit, it was then. He shook his head, moving to mount his own white Stallion. "Come on kid." He reached down for Bishop's hand, and pulled him up onto his horse, as the three took off-- out of the thick of trees and down the hill toward the neighboring Kingdom, Kincade.

                                                                          B
elva slammed into the ground on her side with a dull thud causing her ankle to jump up and bump against her leg. She cried out in pain before attempting to sit up only to find that she was incapable of looking at the appendage in fear of finding it severed or mutilated in some form or another. "....I'm never doing that again..." She whimpered and rubbed her leg gingerly. As she turned over to sit on her back side she winced upon having her things thrown into her lap and being lifted up. At first she assumed it had been Phineus to commit the kind act or Silas in the least. But much to her surprise she looked up to see the face of Alexander, a look of determination in his eyes as well an unreadable expression. He wasn't nearly as angry as she thought he would have been but she supposed that was due to the fact that they were still currently being pursued by Daemos men and had no time to bicker back and forth..... even if he did make an effort. "Well I'm glad to see you're still well enough to be a wise a**." She muttered but there was little effort in her insult as she was far too focused on the surge of pain running through the lower half of her leg. When corrected of the proper way to dangle about on the side of a massive wall she couldn't help but laugh sarcastically. She was prepared toe make a rude retort but was surprised by the words that forced themselves out in place of it. "I did as much so that when I dropped you, it wouldn't be too high and you wouldn't re-injure your shoulder. But point taken. I'll keep that in mind." She concluded that she was in no mood to argue. She simply wanted to move as far from Sonitus' wall as possible and be on their way.

When they finally reached the clearing they were met by the familiar faces of Phineus, Silas, and Bishop. The youngest of the three was clearly upset by their late arrival and his brow knit together with worry as he neared the two. Alexander handed her off to Phineus, who at first lifted her roughly in his hurry causing her to shout out as her ankle knocked into the neck of his horse on the way up. Alarmed by this, he turned to Alexander who then went on to notify him as to her condition and that he should be careful with her. Belva laughed weakly and shook her head, more so in disbelief of his change of behavior if anything. "And by that he means that you should smack me around at a minimum of twice per hour." Phineus smiled and pulled on the reigns of his horse causing it to turn in line with the others before they took off without a moment's hesitation. "Care to explain what happened? We were worried...." Belva seethed in pain as the horse bobbed in stride with Alexander and Silas but was able to come up with something to satisfy her need to continue to show she was capable of enduring as much. "Oh you know. Saving damsels in distress. She's pretty isn't she?" Phineus chuckled in response and whipped his reigns in order to keep up with the others.

Bishop was having the time of his life as they practically soared through the forest and multiple times he peered over the side of Alexander's horse just to get a glimpse of it's powerful legs pound against the earth beneath them as if it was the soul source of the planet's heartbeat. At one point he'd even gone so far as to lift his arms up into the air only to wrap them back around the horse's neck and run a hand through its mane. "Does it have a name?" He shouted over the breeze that whipped past them before glancing back at Alexander and then over to Silas and Phineus's mounts. He'd never rode a horse before. And as far as he was concerned this was what freedom truly must have felt like. To ride away with such speed that no one could touch you. It was the first time in a long while that he felt his childhood had a memory worth keeping.

He hated women. He hated children. He hated half-giants, and human companions. Alexander realized, as they rode swiftly through the bronze valley following the river, that he abhorred everything about his life right this moment. And even if he lived by the motto 'nothing that is worth having, comes easily,' he still didn't have to be thrilled about the level of difficulty attaining said worth, was putting him through.

First, he would need to keep Bishop from sliding off the horse and meeting an untimely death. Alexander had seen a dead child before, and there was no satisfaction in it. This boy would likely become something spectacular once he grew up, and inherited the full of the oracle gift. He didn't want to be responsible for his demise. Therefore, every time the child released the neck of the Stallion, he pressed firmly on the boy's back with his free hand and forced him to hug the neck of the animal once again.

Second, Alexander was trying to remember the potion and spell for mending broken bones. Belva would be nothing but dead weight with an injury like that one. He glanced back and could see that the ride was excruciating enough, traveling on foot would damn need kill her. And despite his getting a bit of sick pleasure from watching her grimace in pain, his revenge could wait.

Kincade was an enemy of Sonitus, but they didn't have the resources to bring their depute to the battlefield. Luckily, their city was built up on a platform in the middle of a body of water, and there were only two ways in. To get to Salia, he assumed that they would have to pass through and come out of the other side-- at least, if he wanted to make good time.

Not only was time on his mind, but protection. These people wouldn't allow any guards or warriors from Sonitus into their Kingdom. Here, they could regroup and figure out what the plan was for Olivera. Perhaps, even find out a thing or two about the cursed Kingdom and what had happened there. Alexander had dealt with a witch before, and it hadn't ended well. He needed to know what he was up against.

In all his travels, he had never been to Salia, but he had heard it was once a prosperous Kingdom until it was cursed-- when and why, were beyond him. "Hermes." He replied to Bishop simply, his eyes still scanning ahead as the river widened and the flat valley became jagged. Kincade was surrounded by water and mountain tops, so high they seemed to touch the white shimmering clouds in the cerulean sky.

The sun started to set earlier than he expected. And they reached the dock to enter the Kingdom, just as the first of it's light was hidden by the horizon in the distance. Alexander halted his horse and dismounted it with ease, leaving Bishop-- and approached the wooden structure where an abnormally tall man stood cloaked in dark material, that was trimmed in gold.

                                                                  "We need to cross..."

                                                                  The man did not turn.

                                                                  "Are you deaf? I said--"

The elf's eyes grew wide, and he took a step back out of fear and surprise. When the figure turned, he realized that it was scaly, with glowing bisque colored eyes and gills. "Good god..." Alexander breathed. "What the 'ell 'appened to your face?"

"Zander!" Silas growled through clenched teeth, hastily coming to his side. "He's a merman."

"Right..." Alexander rolled his eyes. "Is it going to 'elp us or not?"

His companion sighed and moved ahead of him to try and communicate with the creature, as Alexander felt his anger returning. "Um, good sir, we mean to cross into the city. Our friend is hurt, and she needs medical attention."

It's eyes blinked eerily as it looked toward the horse with Phineus and Belva, and suddenly it seemed intrigued.

"Hey, whoa!" Alexander and Silas both fell over onto the wooden planks of the dock, as the creature pushed passed them. The merman snapped his fingers, but didn't stop his stride in pursuit of Phineus and the Queen. And suddenly, the earth was shaking. The elf attempted to steady himself as got to his feet, and the water beneath the dock began to rippled, then wave, rolling over itself as something emerged...

It was a gigantic shell of emerald and brown. That of a turtle-fish, which was to take them into the city. Water rolled off it's back, as it's head and black coal-like eyes popped out above the surface. Both men were in shock and awe, completely forgetting about their companions who may or may not have been about to be assaulted by the merman.

                                                                          B
ishop smiled as Alexander responded with the name of his horse, Hermes. It was a magical name that the boy felt fit the hoofed creature well. "He's incredible!" He blurted and laughed joyously as the rode onward. Belva on the other hand was far less comfortable but did share some enjoyment in hearing the child's laughter. It often reminded her of the months she'd spent talking to Daemos of what their own children would be like as well as if they would come to have any. It was something that Daemos had been very subtle over as he did feel that the time would come when he would need an heir.... and yet he'd been reluctant to discuss it any further. She could only wonder now if he had somehow known that it would only complicate his plans.... And perhaps.... it had something to do with the possibility that he might rid of her in the future. She didn't want to think of it. Instead Belva shut her eyes and listened to the sounds of hoof beats and the stir of the trees. Somewhere along the way she had failed to persuade herself to stay awake long enough to hear the remainder of Alexander's conversation with the child and continuously fell in and out of consciousness much to the dismay of Phineus who found it increasingly difficult to keep her limp body still during those moments without allowing anything of hers to fall out of her lap. Fortunately by the time the sun began to set, they had closed in on their destination. And Belva awoke to the sight of the beautiful, the alluring, kingdom Kincade.

Kincade was an enemy kingdom of Sonitus and one that Daemos frequently relished in the thought of ridding it from the face of the planet. But that did not make it any less magnificent to the Sonitus queen. She pried her eyes open and gave them a good rub as the scent of a natural water source filled her lungs and the chill of the air ran across her flesh. It was exhilarating and she wanted nothing more than to dive into the large body and envelope herself in its mass of blue space. It was then that a dock came into view and as the horses came to a halt she attempted to sit up only to be gestured by Phineus to remain still until Alexander could assure their safe crossing. A figure loomed at the end of the dock in a foreboding manner. His garments adorned him in such a fashion that caused him to appear mysterious. Threatening even. Alexander did not approach him with caution nor did he with respect. But just as it seemed Alexander would only grow more aggressive with the man he backed up. The manner in which he did so startled Belva and she shifted so that she might be able to see around him. Instead of sharing in Alexander's fear, she was awestruck. The man in front of him, and now Silas as he informed him that it was in fact a merman, was exotic and beautiful. Scales were littered across his skin and his eyes glowed beneath the dim light provided by the sky. Upon meeting her gaze it seemed as if he too were just as interested in her as she was in him and he pushed the two men out of the way before summoning a large creature with the likeness of that of a turtle. She was drawn to it but far more focused on the strange being as he approached.

Phineus on the other hand was far more skeptical and raised a hand slowly only to be stopped by Belva as she lowered it with her own. Once the merman was upon them the two went about looking over each other's faces in a peculiar manner in which she reached out to touch the scales on his and he, her ears. When each were satisfied with what they found the merman's gaze fell to her leg to which he briefly grazed it with his fingertips before reaching into his clothes and producing a strange looking sea urchin with many spines out of place or missing. The man then tore one off of the creature and gently placed his free hand just above the break in her ankle before stabbing the spine into it, causing it to go at least a half inch into her flesh. Belva bellowed in agony and squirmed only to be steadied by Phineus as he looked on in amazement. The veins in the surrounding area pulsed a bright green hue and the merman bent over and gently blew over it before removing the spine. Upon being released, there was a strange sensation that ran through her ankle and a loud snap could be heard before she could feel the binding of where the bone had been broken. Looking towards the merman in shock, she did not fight back when he silently lifted her out of Phineus arms and gently placed her on the ground before backing away and allowing her the chance to stand on her own. And so she did. The pain was gone as well as the break and she looked up at the scaled figure with a look of gratitude. "Thank you" She whispered. But he said nothing in response.

Bishop ran to her side and took her hand in his just as Phineus dismounted his horse and began dragging the queen by the hand towards the large aquatic turtle. "Come on Belva! Look! It's huge!" She was hesitant at first but after looking back and giving the merman one last nod she lugged her new weapon, quiver, and her bag over her shoulders and stepped onto the giant turtle before turning to Alexander and Silas. "Well you heard the boy. Get on." She teased with a grin as she sat down beside Bishop and the two dipped their feet into Kincade's waters. The kingdom was truly a sight to behold.

Alexander and Silas continued to marvel as the creature before them, until the sound of Belva's bellowing in the background, tore them away. Both men turned their heads to see the scaly merman doing something peculiar to the woman. And frightened, the elf's companion stepped forward to inquire about what was going on.

However, Alexander reached out to take him by arm. "If'e is going to kill 'er. Let'em do it in piece. The man doesn't need to 'ear the sound of your nagging voice in the background."

Silas snapped his head in his direction, a look of vile dislike for words spreading across his face. "If you wanted Belva dead, then you would have left her behind at the wall of Sonitus when you had the chance!"

Alexander didn't want to dignify that with a response, but for some reason his lips moved to answer anyway, as he tightened his grip on the man's arm in hopes of intimidating him. If Silas was inferring that he cared about the Queen in any way, he would feed him to the giant turtle-fish that had just emerged from the depths of the ocean. "She saved my life. And you know better than anyone that I'm on thin ice."

He honestly didn't want to talk about this. But if companions were getting soft, then they needed to remain aware of the fact that he wasn't going to follow suit. This woman wasn't here to knit them sweaters and tell them tales of the past. No. She was here to carry the book. Other than that, she was worthless; a sack of s**t, just like her husband.

"Fine." Silas replied attempting to shrug Alexander's grip from his arm. The elf released him reluctantly, his azure eyes finding the horse where Belva was sitting with Phineus. A few moments passed before he helped her down, and it seemed her injured ankle was now completely heeled. Bishop was certainly happy, but Alexander only groaned-- his hope that he would ever be rid of her fading tremendously.

The two came skipping happily past Silas and Alexander on the dock and boarded the turtle-fish's shell. Phineus wasn't far behind with all three horses, their belongings and wealth attached. Once the animals were secured, the two men joined the group and the merman found his way back to the dock. He looked on, at Belva for a moment, his gaze almost gentle-- causing Alexander to wonder if he was an ex-boyfriend of hers, before he snapped his fingers again.

It was then that he realized they were moving. Away from the wooden plank that jutted out into the water and toward the stone archway that lead into the city. "It seems our Queen is a sea nymph." Phineus proclaimed with a smile, still holding the reins of the horses, his in the right hand and the other two in the left.

Silas' eyes lit with surprise as he walked over to the woman, with no respect for her personal boundaries, and pushed back some of her hair revealing the most idiosyncratic ears that Alexander had ever seen. He had to admit, they were oddly beautiful to him, and nostalgic. They reminded him of home, where such characteristics were welcome. As an elf, he was shunned. But there was a time, when such features were welcomed by all.

He folded his arms across his chest with that thought and turned away, as the two men inquired about the Kingdom she was from. "Where do your people reside?" Silas asked curiously. Alexander on the other hand paid them no mind. He moved toward the corner of the turtle and had a seat, his eyes on the ruins that laid outlining the walls of the river which they traveled. The water beneath the creature glinted and shimmered as they passed by, as it was not yet night, so he could see reflection in the water. It was peaceful. The most peace he had found in a very long time.

The group slowly floated under entrance and came into the glory of Kincade. A city not as well versed in magic, but certainly affluent and flourishing. From here, it seemed to be made of gold, as the setting sun shone upon it like a spotlight. Alexander felt a shiver run up his spine. With every Kingdom he visited, he felt more and more fire building in his chest. He would one day be free to roam and rule.

The turtle brought them to a sandy beach. And ahead, was a path into the Town Square. He could already imagine Silas and Phineus would be departing from the group very soon for booze and women. Which left him with Belva and Bishop. Joy. Alexander stood and went to take the reins of his Stallion from the half-giant. He picked up the boy, and placed him on it's back. "Ah, kid. Do you think you could ask around, while we're in town? Maybe see if someone will tell you a thing or two about the witch your father spoke of? Pretend perhaps it's an old wise tale you 'eard..."

Alexander had a feeling that if he went asking too many questions he was going to get his face punched in. A child would have more luck with the locals. Still, he would try his hand as well. First and foremost, he need to find them a place to stay and have a look at the map in the canister that Silas had.

By nightfall, they came into the quarter finding that the streets were similar to that of Sonitus if not worse-- crowded with people and street performers-- mimes, jugglers, drunks, and whores lined the streets. He couldn't wait to get out of here.

                                                                          B
elva glanced up at the mention of her race and froze as Silas neared her, moving her hair away from the side of her face curiously. The queen blushed as their attention turned towards her ears and made quick work of hiding them once more once they were finished. Upon Silas inquiring as to where her people called home... Belva eagerly recalled memories of her kingdom, the one her half brother now ruled. "It's called Thalassa. A kingdom built with several waterfalls running through it into the pools below. The streams carry the water out to sea..... Plenty of sea nymph and humans alike live there. My father was a half nymph himself. His first wife was human and she gave birth to my half brother. After she passed away my father wed another, a full sea nymph and she soon bore me. She passed during childbirth leaving my father to raise both of us, my brother and I. He was a good man. And as it is with all good men age came and he too pass. Not long after I met Daemos and left Thalassa to live in Sonitus and left my brother to rule as he was meant to. I don't hear much from him. It feels as if it's been more than a year....." Her voice trailed off in thought and she looked out over Kincade's waters with a sense of nostalgia running through her veins. It wasn't until Bishop's silence drew her attention and his alarmed look caught her eye. "Bishop? Are you feeling well?" The boy jolted and looked up at her, forcing a smile to his lips and nodding frantically. "Yes, yes of course. Your kingdom sounds beautiful Belva...." There was a tone in his voice that gave reason to worry on behalf of the queen but she thought it best if she not insist any further. She lay a hand atop his head and stroked his hair gently before looking back towards Kincade with enthusiasm. It was the first kingdom she'd visited outside of Sonitus and her own and she was eager to see what differences and similarities they shared.

After leaving the large turtle behind and being lifted up onto Alexander's horse Bishop did his best to alleviate the look of sympathy he'd expressed whilst watching Belva turn and look about at the kingdom surrounding them and focused solely on what Alexander had to say. "Are you letting me ride Hermes alone? You're not getting on? You sure you trust me, I don't want to hurt him..." It was rather impossible for such a small boy to accomplish to do just that but then again, Bishop had never been on a horse let alone without Zander and so he did not know exactly how sturdy of an animal it was. Nonetheless he was elated to be given the opportunity to do so and ran his hand gently over the top of the horse's head and neck, sliding his finger tips around the base of its ears and laughing as they flicked away from his touch. "What a good boy." He whispered to Hermes and did as Alexander asked as they walked along, with Belva in tow at a distance. The queen was still haunted by the look Bishop had expressed and was fighting to uncover its meaning only to get distracted by several cart owners selling candied sweets on a stick. Grinning, she purchased one before running up to join the others and handed it off to Bishop to which the child happily accepted and then held her bag of coin out to Alexander. "I know you said you were uninterested in it before. But I'm not a cadge. There's more than enough in there to pay for our stay." Bishop was interested in this small exchange but said nothing, rather looked up at Alexander with a smile. Belva meant nothing by it other than she refused to feel as worthless as Alexander claimed she was. And if she could help pay for the expenses, especially now that they had a fifth body to worry about as well as a stable for the horses, she would.

Whilst this was happening a hooded figure had caught Bishop's eye in the distance by an alleyway. He jumped off her the candied food in hand and ran over towards it much to the panic of Belva who bolted after him as he shimmied through the crowd. "Bishop! Bishop wait!" But she'd lost him in the crowd. She looked around deliriously and called out the boys name but to no avail It wasn't until she rounded several corners that she caught sight of him finishing his conversation with the figure who was knelt down at his level and upon seeing Belva he bid the figure farewell and ran towards her, all the while still managing to chew on the treat he'd been given. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I'm just used to it being that way. My father lets me run about, but I suppose I should have asked...." He pondered before Belva reached down and scooped him up in her arms. "Please do next time.... I know you are a very brave young man but you nor I have been here before. And we promised we'd take good care of you." She carried him the rest of the way back to Alexander's horse before plopping him down atop Hermes. Bishop looked at Zander and grinned wildly from ear to ear. "I think you'll be pleased with what I've learned."

Alexander moved along with the reins of his horse in hand, looking back to make sure that Bishop hadn't fallen off, or disappeared. For some reason, having a small child along reminded him of when he was a boy. And although the memories weren't pleasant, they didn't hurt like they should. He had always felt like the human side of him was missing. Alexander wasn't driven by love, or caring-- he was motivated by hatred and anger. Perhaps that was what he asked for, what he wanted. To feel was often a curse, and he didn't miss such heartache.

Before the group even reached the Inn, Phineus broke off to head to the stable with the two other horses, while Silas bid them farewell in hopes of it being happy hour at the local tavern. After the broken promise in Sontius, of a night of alcohol and women for his companions, he doubted he would be seeing them until morning. But that was probably for the best. As long as they were prepared for a long journey through the city tomorrow, Alexander would not complain.

He, Belva, and Bishop were stopped outside the Inn where there was a cart of sweets. It was obvious that this woman did not have a child of her own, as she was quick to buy the boy something which would likely to keep him up until the sun rose over the horizon at dawn. He merely rolled his eyes once her back was turned, and watched as she purchased and returned to Hermes to present the food to the boy. It was likely the first time he had eaten all day. And Alexander would have preferred to feed him a handful of nuts and berries.

When the Queen spoke to him, he turned to look at her-- his eyes falling to the pouch in her hand. Damn his pride! Honestly, it was a sin that he had any. He was a man that stole from even the poorest of men, and yet, her offer made him sick. Why did he wish to spend his own wealth, when she had plenty? And was willing to contribute to the expenses of the journey? He didn't know, but he couldn't take the money. Alexander sighed heavily and shook his head.

"And I'm uninterested in it now." He said rather nonchalantly, folding his arms across his chest. "Put it away, before you attract every thief and beggar in the quarter."

In that moment, his eyes caught a glimpse of something out the corner of his eye. The boy was gone. Oh for the love of the gods! And now Belva was gone too, off into the crowd where they could both be kidnapped and killed. Perhaps that was a good thing in his mind, but the reality of it made him nervous. Alexander growled and washed his hands of chasing after them, heading inside to pay for three rooms; one for himself, another for Silas and Phineus and an additional for his unwanted guest.

He doubted Belva would be trying to get away anymore. But just in case, she would leave the book in his cabin until the morning. If she wanted to go off and get killed, so be it. However, she wasn't taking his dreams with her.

Alexander returned outside, his eyes and ears beholding the sights and sounds of Kincade. Music was playing in distance and people danced about the cobblestone streets. Eventually, the Queen returned with the boy in tow. She placed him back on the horse, and he was pleasant and smug as ever. Bishop spoke of new knowledge. But Alexander needed to get something off his chest.

"Do me a favor, kid," He knew that he just been put down, but he picked him back up and placed his feet on the ground. The elf then got down on one knee and straightened the child's vest, "stay close. In the lower part of town where you came from, the people aren't looking to rob or 'urt anyone, only to survive. It's different 'ere." His eyes were serious as he talked to him.

"Now what did you learn?" Alexander's lips slowly turned to a sly grin, as he awaited his answer.

"I'm sorry. I understand. Promise I won't do it again.... if you promise that I can still ride Hermes again sometime." At the mention of what he'd found out Bishop grew rambunctious and belva could practically feel the energy steaming off of him. "Legend has it that a powerful witch by the name of Olivera fell for the king of Salia. But he did not love her back, claiming she was ugly and therefore incapable of being loved. Not by him. Because the king rejected her she cursed the city and made it so that everyone thriving within it grew to be hideous in nature. The gods found this act punishable and so they cut the kingdom out of the earth so that it would float to the heacens where Olivera would be judged for her crimes. But instead, she chained the city down..... It's kind of like a giant lantern when you think about it.... floating around like that..." Belva was impressed. The child certainly had a way about him that was nothing short of endearing. "Well at least that's the hooded woman said." He muttered before drifting off into his own thoughts. A look of seriousness crossed the boys features as he looked to Alexander, then to Belva. "I also saw something else.... that I think I should tell you later when you have the chance...." He abruptly turned towards the queen. "It's not about you I prmoise."

"Oh well doesn't that sound reassuring." She said with a laugh and patted his head before readjusting the bag and bow slung over her shoulder. "Perhaps we should go in now. It's getting late and it'll only be a matter of time before you're too tired to walk." She said looking over at the two. "Can I ride Hermes into the stable?" Belva looked at Alexander questioningly, awaiting his answer to the child before the murmuring of voices caught her ear and she slunk back against the inn to get a better idea of what it was they were discussing. "Yes, word has it the king of Sonitus has been rather active since the disappearance of the queen. One wouldn't be surprised... after the fall of their ally, Thalassa, one could only expect for him to be on edge. Perhaps it's an act of retaliation for...." She wanted to hear no more. Whatever these false rumors were, they left her feeling unsteady and conflicted. Belva rubbed the side of her forehead, sighing deeply as Bishop looked over at her all the while continuing to hide the emotion that threatened to bubble up at any given moment. He held secrets but what they were she dare not ask as they were not hers to know.

"Would you mind at all if I were to look into something in the morning?" Her voice was stern and a bit harsh despite not wanting it to sound as much. But after what she'd just heard and the absence of her brother's letters she was growing slightly paranoid in her tired state and immediately realized how foolish of a request it was. They hadn't time for her to worry about such things. Not only that but she was in know position to ask things of Alexander who would probably deny such comforts to begin with. "Never mind. What do we plan on doing in the morning anyhow. You neglected to mention our purpose here in Kincade.... though... I will not lie. This kingdom is-"

"Beautiful?" Bishop asked and looked up at the palace off in the distance.

                                                                          "Well.... Yes."

"I suppose there are a lot of things that we change our minds about once we get close enough to look at them in person."

Belva was stunned by Bishop's wise words and gave him a suspicious smile. "Who told you that?"

"The woman in the cloak. She was very wise."

Still, he tried to keep his mind off Belva and focus on the words Bishop had spoken. He didn't know whether to believe them or not. True, the boy could see into the future, but he couldn't see in the hearts of others. And he worried that this woman who had caught his attention was watching them. Why else would she be so willing to give up information, and so quickly at that.

He was a child, so he didn't know any better. And Alexander, if he had been a better person should have at least acted like he was pleased. But instead, his grin vanished and he got to his feet, dusting off his trousers momentarily. While he was doing so, he was thinking about whether or not he wanted to allow Bishop to ride Hermes again, after he had just gone running off like that. Perhaps a punishment was in order.

His mind was jumbled with a slew of thoughts. Things he shouldn't have cared about, yet intrigued him. Alexander remembered only hours ago that Belva had been talking about her half-brother who ruled a Kingdom of nymphs and human's alike. And now suddenly Bishop had something to tell her. And now this-- chatter about the fall of such a land. Yet, the Queen made no remark. He was drawing lines here, and they weren't good ones.

Phineus suddenly returned in the midst of his silences and took the reins of Hermes. Alexander was surprised he hadn't run off, but was glad to have someone make the decision of not letting Bishop ride for him. "Tomorrow, on the way out town there will be plenty of time for riding." The elf said, his eyes looking firmly down at the child, before finding Phineus. "Go get Silas, and bring'em back 'ere."

"Already? At least let the man have a drink."

"Do you want me to cut your tongue out? Do as I say." Alexander hissed. It seemed as if everyone wanted to die. And if not by his hand, he wasn't inclined to letting that happen, since it was obvious now that there were bigger forces at work here. This was worse than he previously thought, and he could not make the journey alone.

Phineus rolled his eyes in response and bowed his head mockingly. "Yes, master."

"Oh, [******** you." Alexander moaned, as he swooped down and picked up Bishop, like a mother would hold a baby in one arm. The other reached for the Queen's hand. Once he was sure he had secured them both, he kicked the door open to the Inn and went inside.

The elf had a look of determination on his face, but the rest of him, didn't look so threatening. He was holding the hand of a woman, and carrying a small child. And people assumed... "What a caring father!" The Inn Keeper said as he approached wide eyed. The man was older and graying. He was tall however, and very thin. "And a generous tipper!" Alexander regretting paying so much for his rooms. He simply tossed a bag on the counter and gone to make sure Belva hadn't lost Bishop for good. "And your wife! So lovely. You're rooms are ready! But wouldn't you preferred you all stayed in one larger room, then the three small ones you paid for, kind Sir."

Alexander groaned, shifting Bishop his hip like a mother. "Don't call me kind, or Sir, ever again." The older man nodded, but was still smiling for some reason. "Actually," He sighed, knowing that these two would not be safe on thier own. "Just give us two rooms. One for me and my..." Alexander coughed loudly over the word 'family.' "And another for my brothers."

"Oh yes! Wonderful!" The man said, giving Belva one more glance. "Such a lucky man."

Alexander just wanted a room, but the old man was looking back at him as if he was waiting for something. So he leaned in and kissed the forehead of Bishop, before gently yanking the Queen forward against the left side of his body and did the same upon her head. But he didn't yank away so soon. His azure eyes fell to her face and he grinned wickedly. "What a lucky man indeed."

Thrilled with the display, the Inn Keeper hurried them up the stairs. Alexander pulled the woman along and once they were on the second floor of the luxurious well carpeted, tan painted establishment, they were brought to the end of the hallway, were there were double wooden doors. The gentlemen pushed one side open and revealed a room. "Best room in the house! Enjoy your stay." He scurried off as Alexander brought both Bishop and Belva inside-- closing the door and locking it.

                                                                          T
o say the least, the inn keeper was... excitable. As soon as they had walked in the gray haired man approached them with such enthusiasm that it startled the queen. Looking down at her hand in Alexander's, then towards the elf and Bishop, he realized it was Alexander that the man had been addressing.... But surely he did not think.... Oh but he did. Belva grimaced and attempted to shake her hand free of Alexander's only to conclude that he wasn't about to budge so easily. "Why thank you, but you see I'm not.... and we most certainly aren't..-" But the man would have none of it and continued to roll with this theory as did Alexander much to her dismay. She didn't see any point in it. It would be of no benefit to them. By the sound of it the elf had already spent plenty on their rooms and there were no other relateble services that the inn keeper had to offer. Though when he complimented her she couldn't help but smile brightly. Belva had always been one weak for the compliment of a man no matter who they were. She, like many of her kind, enjoyed being admired. But this did little to keep her mind off of the strange reuse Alexander was playing. What was the man up to? "Just give us two rooms. One for me and my..." The man coughed exaggeratedly when using the term family and she shot him a glare of suspicion, unwilling to play along. "That won't be necessary-" But the Inn keeper spoke up yet again and mentioned how lucky of a man Alexander was, forcing her to smile only for such an expression to be ripped away as soon as she felt the elf pull her against his side and place a kiss on her forehead. What in gods name was he looking at her like that for? Belva rubbed at her forehead as if it might be on fire and scowled at him as they were escorted to their rooms.

"It would be best if you wipe whatever that is on the corner of your mouth off your face before I do it for you." She hissed only to earn a childish laugh from Bishop's end. Once they were in their room and Alexander had locked the door behind them she moved over towards the window and looked out over the glow of the kingdom. It was hypnotic.... "Bishop, come look." The boy ran across the room and peeked out over the window sill before pausing and slowly tilting back as if he might fall. "Bishop?!" She started only for the child to drop his dazed stare and look up at her slyly. "Just kidding" He said and Belva scoffed at the act only to grin in amusement before returning to her admiration of the lights that were flecked across the night sky of Kincade. "Imagine what the waters look like at this hour, the stars and lights of Kincade reflecting off the surface...." her expression was almost void of feeling at this point as her thoughts wandered back to that of Sonitus and whether not the town they'd left, the one where Bishop came from, was still in one piece. Daemos had a wrath like no other and she could only imagine what would happen to those inhabiting the town there once he discovered they'd slipped through without so much as a hand to reach out and stop them and had been allowed to leave without hesitation. He wouldn't take kindly to his orders being ignored nor would he towards the numerous deaths of his men at her and their hand. "You're right...... We should go swimming." Bishop mumbled as he rest his elbows up on the sill and glanced over towards her and then Alexander. "As lovely as an idea that is, I don't think that's on Alexander's to do list. Maybe another time?" She offered though could not promise when such a time would come. Bishop frowned and looked over towards the red haired elf whilst speculating why it was he might reject such a notion. "Can he not swim?"

Belva grinned wildly at the thought of Alexander flailing about in the depths of Kincade's pools and shook her head before running a hand over the top of Bishop's head. "I'm certain that must be it." The two nodded in silent agreement, ignoring the fact that the man was only but a few feet away before Bishop ran off and began exploring the beautiful room in which they would be staying the night. "This place is huge! Look at all this stuff!" It brown a look of sadness to see Bishop so entertained by even the simplest of objects such as a table cloth, not because it wasn't something she felt he should enjoy, but because it was something he hadn't back home. The town had been poor and even the smallest of comforts came at a price. "It's Hermes!" The boy cried out as he took note of the painting of a horse just above the fireplace. "Well... almost." He was beginning to run back towards Alexander and Belva when he came across a large stack of books laid out on a small shelf that spilled towards a second mantle. Silently, Bishop picked up one of the largest, heaviest books he could find and began hauling towards the beds they would be sleeping in and carried it up onto the largest and flipping through the pages slowly as he scanned the contents as if he couldn't have been more at home.

Was his look not intimidating enough? The chaste kiss he placed upon her forehead, not menacing enough? Again he wondered if this woman had no fear, for she was still running her mouth. If not to thwart the show he was putting on for the Inn Keeper, then to poke fun at him with Bishop.

He was tired of her-- of it-- of all of it. She needed to learn her place! What kind of man was Daemos to allow his woman to become so unbearable? Not a man at all. He was a coward. Alexander knew that much. There was no need for him to bother with foolish questions such as that.

The elf found himself slightly discouraged by the poor security this room provided. There was only one lock, and he didn't feel safe enough in these quarters to simply let it go. His eyes found the table beneath the first archway and he made a mental note to push it against the wood to give him more time to prepare, just in case the hooded woman wanted to have another chat with Bishop.

But first, he need to speak with Belva. She may have thought that he forgot about getting stabbed last night, but he hadn't. His eyes flicked over to the boy who was happily upon the bed, having found some enjoyment in one of the books upon the many shelves in their cabin. Without so much as an excuse, he snatched the Queen's arm and pulled her away from the child toward the dinning area-- where the table was adorned with fresh fruit and vegetables.

"Again, I'm inclined to ask if you're a mad woman?" He spoke in a very loud whisper, his grip tight so that she would not wiggle away. Oh no, she needed to hear this. "That man obviously thought he recognized you. And you almost blew our cover by being too proud to simply submit. I don't care if you don't like me! As I told you before, the feeling is mutual! But we 'ave a child now! And you can't allow something so trivial to blind you. I'm still not even sure we convinced that old s**t."

Finally, he left her go, roughly shoving his hands into the pockets of his jacket. He didn't want to hurt her. At least not while Bishop was here. "You want to get yourself killed? Fine. But leave me and the kid out of it. You 'ear me, your 'ighness. You may 'ave been King of Quarter back in Sonitus, but I'm leader now. And you! You're my ******** prisoner. So just, keep your mouth shut."

There was obvious frustration building in him. And honestly, he didn't know if he was actually upset with Belva, or himself. For the first time, in a very long time, he had a foreign feeling mixed into his emotions, somewhere between his anger and hatred-- but he didn't know what it was. He felt like he was doing someone else's bidding; no longer traveling for himself, but to assist in the will of others. Alexander knew that if he succeeded, he was actually doing more good than bad. And he didn't like it.

He held out his hand to the Queen in the moment. "Give me my Book."
