The issue becomes Gaia created an almost completely unregulated (um...does the tax count as regulation?) market and let teenagers and young adults run it.
Yeah, we're partly to blame, but I still consider people willing to buy and sell items at highly inflated items to be impatient, unintelligent, or greedy. I can't say I've never sold something inflated, but it didn't leave me feeling like an innocent bystander. It makes me feel like a greedy a*****e. haha
Gaia has done little to nothing to deter this kind of behavior and that's been frustrating to me well before any irresponsible decisions were made with Flynn's Booty.

The thing is there are now no reasonable deals, that aren't gobbled up within a few seconds, to compensate. Gaia is to blame here.
